Party Planning
At the end of the day, everyone stopped at Emily's house to put their ideas together. To start, Emily said that she wanted the flavor of the cake to be French vanilla. As for the frosting surrounding the cake, she was trying to decide between vanilla and cream cheese. Joey and Tristan immediately decided cream cheese while Yugi and Téa voted for vanilla. Emily broke the tie by choosing vanilla flavored frosting.
Next, they had to figure out how many layers the cake would be. Well, that all depended on how many guests would be present for the party. Alister and Valon weren't specific on inviting guests. Well, since the redhead and the Australian would be making the arrangements, surely they would also announce who would be invited. If a lot of guests were to be invited, then maybe four or five layers would be enough.
Téa agreed that four layers were plenty. Tristan also suggested baking many cakes in different sizes and stacking them together, from biggest to smallest. Joey suggested that the top should be a cupcake with candles instead of figures of a bride and groom. As for the decorations surrounding the cake, Emily was considering chocolate figures shaped like the Guardian Duel Monsters, but she decided against it. Yugi liked the idea too, but thought it would take too much time making figures. So he suggested using macarons instead.
With everyone's ideas put together, it seemed like a good plan. Before getting to work on baking the cake, Emily decided to give Alister a quick call. She hoped the redhead wasn't busy tonight.
Thankfully, he was available. Emily briefly told the redhead about how she and her friends were going to work on Rafael's cake; what it would look like. Alister listened, but instead asked for the cake to be made into five layers because of how many guests would be present. He decided Yugi, Joey, Tristan, Tea, and Max would be invited. They were also welcome to bring their Digimon if they wanted. Alister thought of inviting Kaiba, but decided against it. He knew the brunette would be busy managing the company. The redhead was also aware that Max and Rafael did not like each other, but he hoped that they would at least try to get along this once.
Alister listened as he heard Emily explain how the cake was planned on being decorated. He liked the idea of using macarons instead of figures shaped like Rafael's favorite and beloved Duel Monsters. At the same time, he wondered if he could help with that, but he decided to hold off on the idea for now.
When Alister asked Emily about the wedding dress she would be wearing, the blonde answered that she didn't have any ideas yet, but she promised to let him know. With that being settled, the two of them decided to end the call.
When Emily came back to the living room, Joey asked her, "So what did Alister say?"
"He said he likes all of our ideas for the cake," she answered. "But when he asked about what I would be wearing for a wedding dress, I told him I hadn't gotten that far yet."
"I see," said Téa. "Well, why don't we hold off on making the cake for now and figure out what kind of dress you should wear?"
"Well, I already have a few ideas," the blonde girl was saying. "I want it to be something nice, but not too fancy. I'm thinking the sleeves should be long with open ends at the wrists." Then she sighed. "But there's no way I can afford a wedding dress. I'd be breaking the bank!"
"Maybe Max can help," Yugi wondered. "She has her own clothes designers. Maybe we can ask her to make you something based on your ideas."
"I don't know, Yugi," Emily was saying. "I'd really much rather not ask her. It's not that I'm worried that Max may charge me a hefty price, but I don't want to make her waste her time and money on something that's only going to be temporary."
"Fair point," said Tristan.
"But there are some thrift stores in town," continued Emily. "I could always check and see if they have any wedding dresses."
It seemed to be the best option for Emily. Like she said, this would only be temporary and she didn't want anything too fancy. But after buying the dress, she would also have to pay to get it altered so it would fit. After all, Emily wasn't exactly a seamstress.
Tristan had an idea. "How about after buying a dress from the thrift store, you take it to Max and ask her if she can alter it and change it? Maybe it'll cost less."
The brunette had a point. It seemed to be the best idea. So it was decided that once Emily would be done with school tomorrow, she would check out the thrift stores and look for a wedding dress. Once done, she would go to Max's estate and ask for her help. Hopefully she would be willing to help and not charge too much money.
