Chapter 38 - Angela
A/N: Okay this one is short. But someone requested this POV so I hope that you like it. Thanks for reading you guys. I've got one more POV and then I think it'll be about time for Bella/Jared to make their way back. :)
I had been surprised when Bella had called me a few days ago. She'd told me that she wanted to grab lunch and catch up because a lot of things had changed since we'd last seen each other. I immediately agreed because I'd missed my friend and I had things to tell her too. We'd agreed to meet at the diner the next day for lunch.
The next day when I arrived at the diner Bella was already waiting for me. After we ordered, we decided to catch up. Bella told me that she and Edward had broken up because he'd gotten an amazing opportunity at a music conservatory in Italy, that he couldn't pass up. Then she told me that the rest of the Cullen family had moved to California where Dr. Cullen had gotten a job opportunity. I asked her if she was okay and she said that she was fine, that the breakup had been mutual. Then she told me that she'd reconnected with some old friends down at La Push and she'd started dating one of the guys down there. She told me that her great-uncle was a tribal Elder and that he'd helped her get a job and a place to live down there. I couldn't believe how much her life had changed since we'd graduated.
I told her that Ben and I had broken up because our goals were just too different. I told her that I'd been helping my dad out down at the church office. I told her that I was actually enjoying helping my Dad. She told me that she was glad that I was happy. Then she asked me if the church had any furniture that they were wanting to get rid of. She said she had a project that she was working on, to help a friend but neither of them really had a whole lot of money to spend. She said that she could make a donation to the church although it probably wouldn't be much. I told her that I would check with my Dad and let her know.
It was a couple of days later when I called Bella to let her know that Dad had found some furniture for her. She was excited. She told me that she and her boyfriend were going camping for a few days so she was going to send a couple of her friends that had a truck to come get it. I told her that was fine and that I looked forward to meeting some of her other friends.
I was completely shocked when I opened the front door to see two really tall guys. One of them introduced himself as Sam and said that Bella had sent them to get the furniture. I smiled at him before I turned to the other guy. When I looked into his eyes, it was like he was looking into my soul. It was then that I was able to fully taken his in features. He was breathtakingly beautiful. He introduced himself as Quil. I told him my name. When I was able to focus again, I asked "What just happened?"
Quil looked at Sam and Sam nodded. "Can we come in, there are some things that we should talk about?" He asked me. I nodded and led them into the living room. Quil and I sat on the couch while Sam at in my Dad's recliner. He starts telling me that the La Push tribes has legends, that one of their ancestors was a spirit warrior who was able to transform into a wolf to be able to protect the tribe from threats. He told me of the cold ones who came but claimed to be different. They met with the tribe's Chief who made a treaty with them. When I asked what the cold ones were, Quil took a breath and told me that for lack of a better term they were vampires.
At first I thought that he was joking. But then he told me that I knew cold ones. And that's when it clicked. The Cullen's. I couldn't believe it. Bella had dated a vampire. Then I asked why he was telling me this? I felt like this was something that they didn't just go around telling people. He tells me that him along with Sam and some others were wolves, spirit warriors. Then he tells me of another legend. Imprinting. He tells that it's the wolf's way of finding their soulmate (so to speak). I asked him what that had to do with me? He told me that he'd imprinted on me. Then he explained that he'd be whatever I wanted him to be. Friend, brother, protector or…lover. I told him that for now friend would suffice. He nodded. Sam pointed out that with the imprint being so new that Quil might find it hard to be separated from me, so he told me not to be surprised if I saw a wolf laying in the woods outside my house. I nodded my understanding.
When they left, I spent the next couple of hours thinking about everything that I'd learned. Shape-shifters were real. Vampires were real. Quil had imprinted on me. Bella had a lot of explaining to do when she got back.
The next day, Quil called me. He told that they were working on something for Bella and asked me if I wanted to come down and help as well as meet the other imprints. I agreed and he told me that he'd meet me at first beach. I told him at I'd see him in an hour.
When I got to first beach, Quil climbed into my car and directed me where to go. When we pulled into a long driveway I asked where we were, Quil told me that this was Bella and Jared's house. I shocked that Bella was living down here. Especially since I knew that she and Jared hadn't been together very long. As we climbed out of the car, Quil told me that they were all building Bella a library and a reading nook. It was their way of showing their appreciation for everything that Bella does for them. It made me smile at the thought that Bella had some good friends down here. I was hoping that they'd be accepting of me too. Quil led me into the house where several others were waiting. He introduced me to a girl named Emily. She had dark shoulder length hair and she had scars on her face. Emily quickly shooed Quil away telling him that I'd be fine with her and the other girls. Emily wrapped an arm around my shoulders and led me down a small hallway and into the kitchen where three other girls were waiting. Emily introduced them as Rachel, Kim and Leah. We all sat at the kitchen table drinking coffee and talking.
I could see why Bella liked it here. It was peaceful. Before I headed home that night, the girls and I made arrangements for the following day to check out some of the discount book stores so that we could start working on filling Bella's bookshelves. For the first time in a long time I was excited.
