Buffy and Faith got hunted by assassin's. Because a vampire wanted to play games.

"Slayerfest. Sounds like a carnival for Slayers to play at. Not be played with. And not in a fun way." Was Faith's take on the situation after the two of them had killed the assassin's hunting them and told Giles, Willow and Cordelia, who happened to be in the library at the time.

"So humans were hunting you too? And you had to kill them?" Codelia asked.

"Well, it was us or them and they had guns." Buffy seemed unconcerned by the fact that her plan for how to deal with the humans hunting them had led to them dying. "And we didn't kill them, they killed each other."

"Because you set it up for them to kill each other. How is that any different from their boss sitting back and watching them kill you?"

"Well, it's not, but we were defending ourselves." Buffy told her.

"You were defending yourself against Ted, too, but you were a basket case then. I'm just wondering when you got blase about killing humans. Faith's shaking and you're worried about your dress."

"Ted was a robot."

"Doesn't change the fact that you thought he was a human when you killed him."

"I think your making too much out of this, Cordelia." Willow said. "Leave Buffy alone, she hasn't done anything wrong. She was just defending herself."

"I'm not saying she wasn't. I'm just wondering why she's so cool about it. Faith, you want to go shopping? You could use a little time to decompress."

"I ain't got no money, Queenie."

"Don't worry out it, I can afford it and shopping always makes me feel better. And Buffy and Willow's attitudes always bug me."

"I thought it was only me." As the two headed out of the library.

"Are they becoming friends?" Willow asked. "Because that scares the Hell out of me. They're both bitches."

"Buffy, she does have a point." Giles said. "You didn't even consider any other options."

"Like what, Giles? What other options could there have been?"

"Capturing them, turning them over to the police. Knocking them out wouldn't have been difficult. And your attitude is concerning. Do you not care that humans died because of your actions?"

"Not particularly, they were trying to kill me. No different then vampires or demons. Look, I'm tired and I'd like to get some sleep tonight. The Homecoming dance is a bust. On the other hand, I did wonder why Cordelia didn't run, seems like her kind of thing."

"She has become much more serious minded over the last year, Buffy. I think she misses Xander." Giles told her.

"Well, I do too." Willow said. "But that hasn't changed me. And I wonder why he hasn't come back. I've been thinking about this. The wish I made was for him to forget her. But he should remember us, Sunnydale, his parents and come back to us. So why hasn't he?"

"Because his memories of Cordelia are tied up with those memories. You can't erase one, without erasing the other. It's the downside of wishing, there's always an unforeseen cost. Who knows how helpless he might have been without his memories. His knowledge of how to defend himself could also have been lost. Or it could just be personal memories. We may never know."

Not long after, Ethan Rayne returned to Sunnydale, but no one knew until Buffy and Willow figured out that the Band Candy was the reason the adults were acting nuts. Catching her mother and Giles mining for each other's tonsils didn't help make her night any better. Faith and Cordelia both thought it was great, though.

"Buffy, your mom and Giles would make a great couple. Giles hasn't been with anyone since Ms. Calendar was killed. And Giles is a definite improvement over a homicidal robot." Cordelia pointed out.

"My mom doesn't need a boyfriend and her dating Giles would just be weird."

"It's not up to you, B. If Mrs. S and G want to give it a shot, I say go for it. Everyone needs a little unh in their lives."

"No unh! Not for my mom. Gross!"

"Oh grow up, Buffy. Your mom's still a great looking woman and has needs. Don't make it harder for her." Cordelia shot back.

"Yeah, that's Giles job." Faith snarked. As she and Cordelia headed out. "Want to go patrolling with me, Queenie? I could use the company. You can tell me about this Xander. B and Red never talk about him, at least not around me."

"Sure. Well Xander was cute. Smarter then he acted, he took the same courses Willow did, except math. He wasn't a genius, but he was smart. Sarcastic, tell it like is kind of guy, not afraid to express his opinions, even when Buffy and Willow treated him like shit for doing it. They did not like it when he had an opinion that was different then theirs. They would always try to override and 'get him to see reason'." She made sarcastic finger quotes. "And a very good kisser. We use to hide in the janitor's closet and make out. Good with his hands too."

Buffy and Willow were both frowning after them. "We didn't try to override Xander. He was wrong in his opinions, that's all." Willow said.

"Not to mention, jealous." Buffy added.

"I thought his reasoning was sound, myself." Giles said. "He was far more right, then he was wrong with his concerns. Angel did turn out to be a danger."

"Angel isn't a danger. Angelus is."

"They both exist in the same body, Buffy. And that curse could break again and Angelus would be loosed on us."

"Chill, Giles. Angel and I aren't doing anything to break the curse."

"It wasn't sex that broke the curse, Buffy, it was being happy, which means it could break again. Something else could make him happy."

"Like what?"

"Friendship. Other relationships. Doing good. Black Magic could also remove the curse. And underneath it all, he's still a vampire. That can't be changed. No matter how much you want to pretend he isn't."
