Confusing Feelings
"So, Mon-El is in your time? With you guys? And he's a member of the..." Kara asked, trailing off.
"The Legion of Superheroes, yes." Imra finished for her, nodding.
The group was currently sitting at one of the rooms in the DEO. Revan stood right behind Kara who was sitting on one of the chairs, his hands on her shoulders. Her expression was a mixture of relief and sorrow. Imra just said that Mon-El was okay, that they knew him in their time, that he is alive in their time, but...
"In the beginning, after all the questions were answered, you were all he talked about." Imra said, a genuine smile on her face, albeit with a hint of sorrow.
But...
"Even after we got married, he still remembered you and talked about you every now and then."
There it was.
She didn't know how to feel. It was so weird, she couldn't even grasp it properly for the first few minutes. Mon-El is married, has been for a long time, to this woman who is now sitting in front of them. From the future. How is she supposed to feel about that? How does she even begin to know?
Revan was trying to be supportive, comforting, constantly massaging her shoulders, trying to let her know he was there. Truth was, he was worried. Not just about the fact that this knowledge would be damaging for Kara, but it might also hamper their relationship. Kara was an honest, straightforward woman. If she felt she still had feelings for Mon-El, she would tell him, and that's what he was afraid of. But he still stayed strong. Because he cared more about Kara's well-being than he did about keeping her with him.
"Okay that's enough information from the future. Imra, we are currently in the process of fixing the ship so we can get back to our time. Especially since your pod system failed." Brainy said. "Get some rest, then we can get back to working on the core. You got the component, right?"
"Yeah. Yeah I did." Revan breathed. "Brainy's right, get some rest everyone. We'll fix your ship and then you'll be able to return home."
"Thank you, everyone." Imra smiled, before Brainy escorted her out to another room.
"You okay, Kara?" Revan asked softly, leaning down so he was next to her ear.
"Honestly?" Kara asked shakily. "I don't know."
"What are you feeling right now, hon?" Revan asked.
"I... I'm a mess." Kara sighed. "On one hand, I'm so glad he is fine... I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me, something I carried since I sent him on that pod." she rubbed a hand against her forehead. "But... he's married, he's been living in the future. He never let me know."
"Have you considered the fact that he couldn't? They're almost a thousand years into the future, Kara." Revan said.
"I know... I know..." Kara sighed.
"And... if you still feel for him... I..." Revan tried, but his voice shook.
"No! No no no… I..." Kara immediately began, but paused. "I believe I love you, Revan. That's all that matters here, okay? I'm sorry if you feel like... there's something in the way or..." Kara said, shaking her head.
"No, it's okay, Kara. It's only normal you would feel this way, torn and confused." Revan said, sporting an assuring smile, pulling her into a hug. Kara leaned into him, keeping her hands on his chest.
.
.
After some time, Brainy came out of the room they'd given to Imra. "She is resting."
"Alright." Revan said. "Any more potentially catastrophic malfunctions I should look out for?"
"Hopefully not, but this isn't something I can be certain of." Brainy sighed. "We shall have to hasten our efforts in fixing this ship. Did you get the component you went to the other dimension for?"
"Yes we did." Revan said, tossing Brainy the part. "What's next?"
"I'm afraid the next part is up to me." Brainy said. "I cannot let you view internal machinery on the time ship. I apologize."
"Understandable, but how do we speed up the process if you are gonna work alone." Kara asked, now shaking off her stupor. Revan gave her a soft smile., which she returned, only barely.
"With the components in hand, I calculate that I can finish this work within 24 hours." Brainy said.
"Alright. Good." Kara nodded.
Brainy reciprocated, before walking into his time ship.
"Should we go home?" Revan asked, walking up to Kara.
"Yeah. Please." Kara said, her eyebrow quivering just a bit, almost imperceptible, except Revan caught it.
"Of course, love." Revan said softly, before picking her up in his arms and running off, keeping his speed up so no one saw. No one needed to see her get carried bridal style just while she felt vulnerable.
Once they were home, Kara quickly changed and dropped on the bed. Revan smiled sadly, having already changed into his own home clothes. He sat down beside Kara on the bed, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Hey. You okay?"
"No." Kara simply answered. She shifted on the bed, to place her head on Revan's lap, covering her face. Revan let her, slowly running his fingers through her hair. He let out slight levels of Red solar radiation, so she wouldn't be Kryptonian strong, so he could massage her head, so she could probably feel just a little comfortable. Kara sighed in relief, finally letting him see her face fully, resting her hands on her chest and looking up at him, giving him a soft and sombre smile. Revan silently returned it, kept massaging. She purred, and Revan noticed her tension relieving little by little. No words were needed. They were two people who understood each other. Two people who had only themselves in the core of their hearts.
"I don't know exactly how I feel about learning that... Mon El is alive." Kara finally said, her voice barely above a whisper. "And the last time I was not in sync with my emotions, I pushed everyone I cared about away with virtually a metaphoric equivalent of Kryptonian strength."
Revan actually chuckled a bit, eliciting the same out of Kara. "But this time," he said, still massaging her, "you know that there is something wrong. You know you have things to face inside your heart instead of bottling it all up and throwing it away to not have to face it. You're not going to do anything like that this time, I know it. And I'm proud of you for it." Revan smiled.
Kara smiled, genuinely wide, for the first time since hearing the news, floating up from Revan's lap and kissing Revan. She used to think kissing upside down was a weird movie cliche, but with Revan, even that made sense. Her hands cupped his neck, brushing his hair as she kissed him again and again.
"I want you to know something." Kara said, breaking off and looking at Revan with her full resolve.
"What's that?" Revan asked, tilting his head a bit.
"I love you. Only you. Even if Mon El were to come stand right before me, I would still pick you now." Kara said, not letting go of Revan the whole time. "You understand? Don't ever doubt that, okay?"
Revan sighed, letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Okay" He nodded, closing his eyes and touching foreheads with Kara. "I love you too, hon. Now, get right side up so I can kiss you properly."
Kara chuckled as she gladly obliged.
.

The next day, it was time again to check in at the DEO. The two headed to their haunt after visiting CatCo, getting some work done and then letting Lena know. A gust of wind signalled their arrival as the two heroes halted in the main lobby.
"How's Brainy doing with the ship repairs?" Revan asked.
"I wouldn't know." Winn shrugged. "Future stuff, remember?"
"Right." Revan shrugged as well. There really was no telling when the ship would be fixed. He could see Brainy working on the panels in the distance, but he was right. No peeking at future tech. Especially one as technologically inclined as Winn or himself. They'd flip and start making stuff.
"Rev." Kara bumped him playfully. "What are you thinking?"
Revan was broken out of his thoughts. "Just imagining the shenanigans Winn and I would get up to if we could peek in that ship. Brainy is right to stop us from looking at future tech too closely." he chuckled, and Kara joined in.
Kara's eyes wandered, and landed on Imra. Her confusing feelings bubbled up again. "Rev, do you mind if we go someplace else?"
Revan looked concerned, before noticing Imra in the distance beside Brainy, discussing things with him. He immediately nodded, "Of course, love." he took her hand and walked off. Kara intertwined their fingers, sighing as Revan lead her away, into one of the spare store rooms.
"Better?" Revan asked.
"Maybe. A little." Kara nodded, smiling a little, looking up at him. Revan leaned in and planted a kiss on her forehead, holding her close.
"It'll be over soon, love." he said, rubbing his hand across her back, the other buried in her hair.
Kara leaned into his shoulder, burying her face in it. "I hope so." her muffled voice sounded. Her hands were fisted up, on his chest.
The next moment, a big explosion sounded off, and Revan and Kara immediately sped out, into the lobby. A woman with white hair, in a white and green suit was floating in the air. An orb, no, an eye of green energy floated next to her. Brainy and Imra looked on guard. Alex and the other agents had their weapons trained on her, J'onn watched, wary himself.
"So, you're here, Legion? No matter. It is not like you can stop me." the woman said, laughing.
"Brainy, care to introduce us?" Kara said to Brainy.
"Supergirl, Comet, meet Emerald Empress." Brainy said. "How did she get here?"
Revan noticed some form of quiver in Brainy's voice. He wasn't the type to get nervous... could it be that he was lying, Revan thought.
"When we're done with this, you owe me a proper and honest explanation." Revan said, his eyes lighting up. "For now, who is she and what can she do?"
"She's a villain with magic powers she draws from that Eye you see." Imra spoke. "Anything else?"
"That's rude, Saturn Girl." Emerald Empress said, chuckling. "To oversimplify my being? The horror." she then brought the eye in front of her. "An honor to meet you though, Supergirl, Comet. Sad this meeting of ours won't end well." bringing both hands to the eye and chanting something, she let loose a beam of magic. Kara and Revan immediately dodged, Kara flying up to her while Revan ran around and got all the agents to safe distances. "Stay away! Let us handle this." he said. Brainy and Imra were flying up as well, while Kara landed a punch, only to have it blocked by a barrier formed by the eye. The impact sent the green villainess floating several feet back though.
"As expected of you!" the villain laughed again. "Come then! Let's take this someplace more... appropriate." she said as she flew off. Kara immediately followed her, Revan close by on the ground. Brainy and Imra flew along with Revan.
"Magic can hurt Kryptonians! Make sure she knows this!" Brainy said to Revan.
"You hear that?" Revan asked over comms.
"Got it." Kara replied as she fired her heat vision at Emerald Empress.
Kara and Emerald Empress faced off in the skies above National City, their fight flashy enough for the whole city to see. Green energy and blue beams flew across the sky as Kara dodged the attacks by Emerald Empress, while the green villain shielded herself every time Kara punched her, always getting knocked back but taking no damage. Brainy and Imra finally managed to catch up to the two, Imra immediately letting out a burst of psychic energy. It seemed to annoy the woman in green.
"Saturn Girl." she snarled.
"Glad to have the psychic on our side for once." Revan said, standing on the roof of CatCo. Aerial combat was the one thing he couldn't help with. But that didn't mean he was completely useless. He began accumulating a large amount of energy, trying to compress it as much as possible. "When I say, get away from her so I can get a clear shot."
"Copy." Brainy said. Kara went and landed another punch, then shot out her heat vision, pushing her back by quite a lot. Imra kept dodging the green villainess' shots, and kept annoying her with psychic blasts.
"If you're psychic, why can't you just... mind control her?" Winn asked over comms.
"I can't control her, her magic is blocking me." Imra replied. "That Orb, the Emerald Eye of Ekron is very powerful."
"Now!" Revan yelled through comms. The other heroes stopped chasing her. In that second, a beam of white light, thin as a strand of hair, shot out at an impossible speed from the roof of CatCo, straight towards the Emerald Empress, who only barely managed to get her barrier up, but it wasn't enough. The beam shattered pieces of the barrier, piercing straight through the villainess' left shoulder, like a bullet, shooting through and travelling as far as the eye could see. "There." Revan said, exhaustion in his voice. Kara immediately flew to her, and punched her, knocking her down towards CatCo. The woman landed on the roof, and the other heroes followed.
"Good job, Comet." Kara said, as she touched down.
"Agreed." Brainy said. "The compressed force you used was impressive."
"Thank you, Comet." Imra added.
"I expect a clear answer when we get back to base." Revan said. "About who she is and why she is here. Don't think I didn't notice you knowing more than you let on."
"I suppose it's fair." Imra said.
Just as Kara was about to restrain the downed villain, however, a giant droid landed right in front of her, shooting a punch towards Kara. Kara, however, was fast enough to see it coming, backing up. The heroes readied themselves again, when a portal opened over the Emerald Empress. An moderately old man in an unrecognizable uniform stepped through. "Greetings, heroes." he spoke. "I'm afraid I can't let you take her." he smiled. "However, she lost, so she doesn't get to threaten the people any further. We will be taking our leave. Before you get any ideas, however..." the old man pressed a button on his bracer, and a missile shot out of the robot. "Farewell." the robot picked up the Emerald Empress and the two walked in.
"That missile was fired in the direction of the ship!" Brainy yelled.
Revan immediately started running, Kara taking off into the sky.
.
.
When they got back to the Time ship, they noticed it was damaged severely, the missile clearly fired in an effort to cause both misdirection and slow down their efforts.
"How could he have known?" Kara asked.
"I don't know!" Imra answered, rushing to help Brainy minimise the damage from the missile. "Brainy! The other pod is shutting down!"
"Attempting to reroute power." Brainy said, working on the circuits while Imra was at the console.
Revan, Kara and the others stood by at a distance, so they couldn't get too much of future knowledge, but ready should they need to help. Winn was visibly straining to not peek though, but he kept his resolve.
"It is not working!" Brainy said.
"Take him out." Imra said.
"But-" Brainy started, but Imra cut him off.
"Take him out!" she yelled.
Brainy silently walked up to the remaining pod, and hit the emergency release handle. The liquid drained out from the pod, and it opened with a hiss.
"Are you okay?" Imra near yelled, already running to whoever was inside, pulling the door despite it opening automatically.
Kara let out a gasp as she saw who emerged from the pod and fell into Imra's arms.
"Mon?"

Sorry if I'm too late, but hey, not as late as before, right?
Well, here you go. He's here! And we have some villains. Props to anyone who recognizes the mastermind villain, BTW. You KNOW DC.
As always, let me know what you think in a review. Any constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome.
See y'all in the next one. Peace!
