A/N ok so final chap, please remember this was my attempt to try and get a good story out even if it came out a bit crackish. As long as the story was enjoyed then I did what I aimed for.

On with the madness...

Chapter 6

The biggest court case in the century. Well that's how they pushed the media to cover it. Even better was all the video releases from La Brava. Endeavor was facing a full staffed government courtroom. And on the prosecutors team was the one creature the entire Hero Commission hated with a passion…Nedzu.

When the judge started the proceedings he glared at the defense team. "I will make it clear that the prior three judges have been removed from the case and are under investigation for connections to the Hero Commission. If any of you try to demand a new judge then all parties will serve jail time regardless of if I remain or not. Do I make myself clear? Good, now let's get to the central point of this case. The Hero Endeavor has been charged and multiple forms of evidence have been brought forth. As of right now Endeavor is removed from any duties and banned from non approved hero activities. The requests for the VRP Mr. Bones to also be placed in a containment cell during the trial are rejected. Due to multiple public videos of Endeavor's clear hostility and lack of public safety prove our decision."

The defense team nodded in agreement but Endeavor was gripping his chair enough to make it groan. His lawyers were also feeling the increase in temperature. "Your Honor. Endeavor here is the #2 hero…"

The judge banged his gavel. "Out if how many including the unnumbered and sidekicks? Your arguments about his 'rank' is a very good reason for this trial. As are your attempts to cover up his failings. The ruling stays. Next we will discuss the Hero Public Safety Commission's actions and inactions around Endeavor…"

The next hour was all the facts that La Brava had already stated as well as the actual approved limits on property damage, civilian/villain injuries and casualties. The whole time the prosecutors were staying calm. Mr. Bones was in the public gallery right behind Nedzu. His body never moved from its position since it all started.

Nedzu looked over his shoulder before turning back to the defense team trying to justify the massive issue and why this was one of the only heroes allowed such a boon. Well that was how Nedzu saw it. The judge was not being as polite with his words. "Please stop. You have not only admitted that you don't allow 'other heroes' to exceed the limits you currently use that is already twice the level approved by the Oversight committees and never renegotiated, but also that Endeavor has exceeded those markers repeatedly. You're not doing a good job in protecting your own position. Let me remind you that this trial is not only for Endeavor but also for the continued existence of the current Hero Public Safety Commission."

The entire Defense team was getting nervous now. Nedzu simply sipped his tea that no one dared question where it came from. His eyes however were looking around. His mind ran the figures until he found the reason for the current lack of defense. He leaned to one of the lawyers and whispered.

"Objection!" The prosecutor jumped up. "Defense is clearly not prepared for this case and seems to be under the impression that only Endeavor was on trial here."

This had the judge glaring at the others. "If this is true then stand up." When all but Endeavor did the judge rubbed his face. "I hereby call for the Head of the Hero Commission to be arrested for contempt of legal proceedings. As of right now we will recess till 8am tomorrow. Defense team will use this time to either prepare properly or have Endeavor declared guilty."

As the courtroom cleared out, Nedzu walked over to Bones before grinning. The person sitting beside Bones was Best Jeanist and as the rodent nodded both Jeanist and Bones stood and walked out. Nedzu just chuckled. When asked by his fellow prosecutors what was up with Bones he handed them a note. The looks on their faces was priceless. After all… no one else noticed the painted white metal holding the fake skeleton together.

The next day Jeanist walked in with the real Bones but they did not acknowledge anyone. Nedzu however was really happy to know the fake was filled with recording equipment aimed all over the room. He reviewed the videos to see who all reacted to the judges orders. Today his team was ready to really put their plan in motion.

The judges walked in with the other government people. Once the trial restarted the defense team opened with an apology about their prior actions. After two hours it was clear that they could not justify Endeavor's continued place as an active hero let alone a ranked one.

The man was enraged but before he could start ranting he was hit with quirk suppression foam from three well positioned police officers. Nedzu held up a piece of paper that had the man calm down quickly. The defense saw the words too and started to pale. The rodent was smiling. "We still need to deal with the actions of the Hero Commission."

The next hour was mostly review of Commission activities and interview of lesser known heroes that the commission had wronged. Three times the public had been yelling to remove the commission but it was the final witness that had Bones attention.

The last Witness was Inko Midoriya. Mr Bones looked on with a happy smile that only Nedzu could notice; he also took charge of questioning this Witness. "Mrs. Midoriya, can you please tell this court what the Commission has done against your family."

She painted the perfect picture of an angry mother who was informed after the fact that her son's ashes were dug up by the Commission in their attempt to claim Mr. Bones was in fact Izuku Midoriya. She went on about the fact that three very large men had shown up at her door claiming she 'had to sign' paperwork regarding the VRP and Mr. Bones. She was already aware that Nedzu would make an appointment with her for any such paperwork and if not for her friend having tea with her the men would have tried to intimidate her. Mitsuki Bakugo however is an intimidating presence in her own right.

The best part was when the Defense tried to state that her son was alive and sitting right there in the courtroom. The angry look on her face had the judge shivering. "I have no idea how you determine someone to be alive after that statement. But as a normal human being I can state for a fact that that poor child is not alive. He has no lungs to breathe with or to lose his breath from an over loving hug. He has no heart to pump Blood through his body or to break when he loses his loved ones. He has no nerves or muscles to tell him when he is hurting or pushing himself too far. No skin to feel the temperature around him or the touch of another. It is even proven he has no brain to function as a way to determine he is even there. A coma patient is alive… but Mr. Bones is not. And all those things I named are reburied as my Izuku Midoriya. So you tell me here and now… is Mr. Bones alive? Why is the Hero Commission so threatened by him?"

The room was silent after that speech as the Defense lawyer looked shell shocked. The judge, after regaining his composure dismissed the woman and had the defense call up their witnesses. Flunky #6. Claimed Bones had dangerous and stolen hero equipment when interning with Hawks. The prosecutors produced Hatsume Industry forms for Bones to test the prototypes as well as showing the video of them trying to take it without listening to the warning. The next Flunky stated he was under orders to review all activities by Mr. Bones since he joined the VRP and noticed several times that the skeleton had participated in the capture of criminals.

The prosecution played four videos of Bones supplying capture equipment after the criminal was subdued. They also asked the flunky what videos he watched or where he got the reports he reviewed? He stated it all came down from the upper management. That was the wrong answer as the judge asked if he ever contacted the Hero offices or police Departments to confirm these reports. He did not. Bones however was laughing silently. His shaking form was the give away. The next one the Defense called was Mr. Bones himself.

The defense lawyer was almost smug as he reminded the skeleton that he was in a court of law and had to tell the truth. Before the man could ask his first question, Bones laughed. "But what about those last two? They clearly lied or omitted all the facts. There is a detective sitting in the gallery that has a 'lie detector' quirk. Have him take a seat up here and he will ensure I'm telling the truth." The lawyer blanched.

The detective was not called up but the defense was reworking their approach. "Mr. Midoriya, how long have you been pronounced deceased?" The skeleton looked toward the man without saying anything but the eyeless sockets convey annoyance. Nedzu looked right at the judge with a very clear glare. The judge however was looking at the lawyer like he had just asked if water was wet.

Bones finally answered. "I can't answer that. I mean, you asked a question for Mr. Midoriya who we have already proven to be deceased, as have the Hero Commission, and you asked him how long he has been dead. Now I want to know how long you have been able to function without using your brain. Here I thought I was the only one to do that."

The judge finally shook his head. "Defense will refrain from such questions. All wording will be direct to the witness or will be overruled. Mr. Bones please limit the commentary. The skeleton shrugged, "I can try but… no brain, no filter."

The defense took a moment to rethink his approach. "Can you tell the court how long you have actively participated in Vigilante activities?"

Bones rubbed his chin. "Well that is also hard to answer as I am a nonliving, by current definition, entity that does not fall under the laws of vigilante or heroic activities. Not to mention the very definition of vigilante activities is very confusing when used against my condition. Hell, principal Nedzu and I both needed headache medicine when trying to figure out that one." The room turned to the nodding rodent.

"Errr… When was the first time you… confronted a villian and captured them?"

"Ohhh. Why didn't you say that? Lets see it was a month after Izuku died. And that was more an accident than actual planned action. See I was testing my parkour skills and fell off a ledge onto a mugger. The shock of a skeleton apologizing for falling on him made him pass out. His victim called the police and I already headed back up to work on the landings."

The defense just stared at the skeleton in confusion. After shaking his head he tried a different tactic. "Why have you been harassing the #2 hero Endeavor?"

"WAIT…Didn't he just get fired? Something about disregarding public safety and such? How can he be the #2?"

This time the judge had to step in. "Defense is warned not to try and insinuate Endeavor as a hero after that judgment was already made. Do you need time to rework your questions or do you even have a point to the questions. One that has not already been addressed?"

The defense team looked at the paperwork and shook their heads. Nedzu stood to cross examine the skeleton. "Mr. Bones. If you do not qualify as a vigilante then why are you part of my VRP?"

"Oh that's easy. I wanted to be a hero. It was Izuku's dream before he died. Buuut, the heroes kept trying to capture me instead of dealing with all the villains I captured. So joining your program means I show the future heroes what to really expect and what to pay attention to. The spotlight heroes are a bad example when ratings are the goal and not the reductions in crime."

Nedzu was nodding sagely. "And could you tell us about your recent actions around Endeavor?"

"Oh that was just me reacting to him, and my running from him since I was not allowed to do 'any type of fighting' while in the VRP, per the Hero Commission. Oh but that last one, the hot dogs, that was a bet from the street kids. How long I could cook them before he noticed."

"So you did nothing to provoke Endeavor intentionally?"

"Never. But I bet the part where my civilian arrest and such out numbered his per week was a thorn in his paw. Hey does that mean I could be the new #2 hero?"

Nedzu just shook his head. "We still have not worked out IF you can be a Hero. Despite the top five all signing your request. Now one more question. Gentleman Criminal and La Brava have done a recent video campaign against Endeavor. Did you have anything to do with that?"

"Hey now. That is them simply acquiring proof of crimes and exposing them. I mean with proper training GC could have made a great hero back then. And the commission has seven hackers that combined could never beat La Brava. So it's more of 'I let them have access to my videos and they used them to show the world the truth. Again… you try to stop that pair when they seek the truth. By the way… GC has excellent taste when recommending tea."

The court ended with a ruling on a full revamp of the HPSC and a big focus on the Public Safety part. Bones received a hero license with restrictions. But he also got to help with the hero courses as well. They were not as happy with that as he was. Also just for the record… glitter bombs in the combat classes were not appreciated by all.

The end. This was all an attempt to see how well I could do a BNHA. Leave a review and I hope it gave you a smile.
