Foreword:

The idea behind this story came about in my head back around 3 and a half years ago. At the time it was just a random idea that for some reason just wouldn't leave. I went out and bought a notebook and then spent the next 3 years adding little bits of detail to my idea. When it first started out I had just started reading Martial Peak. The idea came about when I started noticing details that I kept saying "This could happen in Harry Potter." and after 3 years I decided to actually put it down on the web. This foreword is here to One: Explain where the idea came from and Two: Explain what Xianxia Cultivation actually is as well as some of what might show up that you might need an explanation for. If you understand Xianxia and Cultivation by all means skip the forward and you can jump forward to read the Prologue.

Xianxia in a nutshell when translated from Chinese means Immortal Heroes and the definition from Wikipedia. "The stories usually revolve around the adventure/growth of a magical practitioner or a mortal person who happens to get entangled into supernatural affairs, and include elements such as gods and immortals, spirits, monsters, ghosts and mythical creatures." You can see why I felt it would tie in well with Harry Potter.

Cultivation is a sub genre of Xianxia where in most stories the characters train their inner energy, in most cases Qi (I will explain later) to breach different levels of cultivation. Each level brings about a major change to the characters. The lower levels might just make the body Stronger and more durable or able to use Mystical powers to a small degree, like magic from Harry Potter. While higher levels of cultivation can see people become nigh on Immortal, fly, have access to an entire inner dimension where their inner power resides that they can physically enter, and can sometimes be so strong that they can create and destroy matter using their Qi.

Now lets go into Qi. Qi in Chinese culture is believed to be the Vital Force of all of creation. Basically think of Qi as the building blocks of the universe like the smallest particles such as atoms. If you look at something say a rock that rock would have Qi running through it. Qi can then be broken down into the 5 elements. These are based on the 5 phases of Qi. Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. While you might look at this and think its like a Pokemon type chart where one is strong against another its actually one feeds the next Wood makes Fire stronger and Fire makes Earth Stronger in a circle. While the reverse doesn't seem to "resist" that element. Anyway while this will show up later in the story you won't need to worry to much on that just yet.

Now that the basis of Cultivation has been discussed lets go into a bit more detail of what actually happens in Cultivation. Cultivation is Absorbing and Circulating Qi through the body to break through different stages of Cultivation. At the beginning its all about preparing the body, normally called the Body Tempering Stage. After this its normally Cultivating through either Medicine called Pills that increase your Qi Levels/Qi Circulation or just through meditation to prepare your Qi for further Cultivation. This is normally named something like Core Foundation or something similar. After this its all about building your cultivation through Meditation, Medicines or Cultivation Techniques. This will be expanded on later in the story.

Another thing that needs to be brought up is two professions that is seen often in Cultivation. These Professions are Alchemists and Artificers. Alchemists use various herbs as well as other ingredients to craft Medicines (Sound familiar?) that in most cases take up the form of a pill that has some great use for cultivation or other uses. Artificers will normally use materials from Qi rich resources to craft equipment or tools to further ones Cultivation or for just everyday use. These materials can be wood from a very old tree or parts of animals like Feathers from a Bird of a certain Element (See what blends well with Harry Potter?). You should see why I brought up these two jobs.

Well I believe that is about all that needs to be explained. Anything else should be explained further in the story but I wanted you to know what you were going into before you actually dive into the story with no idea what your reading.
