Good day, everyone! As you can see I've revised my PM DCSG story. Now better than ever! As I stated before, I wasn't liking how the original went down. It forced me to remain dependent on the already existing processes of canon episodes without retaining any semblance of originality.
Safe to say, after a bunch of incredibly frustrating trials and errors, I've now created a more acceptable substitution for my work. I'm not sure how often I'll be updating this story since it took me weeks to finally finish this one.
Hopefully, it won't be long for the second chapter. Until then I wish you guys well.
I do not own anything but this fictional scenario. DC is the rightful owner.
"Ah, come in. I've been expecting you, Mr. O'Brian." Principal Chapin said as he gestured to the individual who entered his office.
"Take a seat while I fetch you your syllabus." He instructed as the teen went in and made himself comfortable. He was in his mid-teens, above average height, and lean build. Hair was slick and had a tuft at the front which formed a comical swirl. His outfit comprised a deep V-cut red shirt accompanied by a yellow belt and black pants. He propped up his glasses as he sat down on the chair.
"What do you think of the school so far?" The teen shrugged as he responded. "Definitely bigger than my last school, that's for sure." The principal chuckled at the teen's lighthearted words.
"Well, we're not dubbed the best school in Metropolis for nothing. Although you're a week behind the others, I'm sure you'll fit right in with the rest of us." Principal Chapin passed the teen his class schedule and homeroom number.
"Gee, thanks, Mr. Chapin. I appreciate your help. A man in your position must have his hands full running this school."
"Oh, think nothing of it, kid. You're setting a much better example than some students already. Especially during the first day of school, that fiasco took forever to clean up." He grumbled under his breath. The principal let out a tired sigh as the teen quirked a brow in confusion.
"What happened on the first day?" He inquired curiously.
"Oh, nothing you should concern yourself about. Anyway, seeing as how it's your first time here, I figured you'd need a guide to show you around." On cue, the door opened up to reveal another teen.
"Ah, Oliver, thank you for coming. I needed someone to give Patrick here a tour of our school, and I thought you would be a good fit."
An elegant teen entered with as much flair and dramatics as you would see in a high school movie. Oliver's entire ensemble had an entirely green theme. Collared shirt under a green vest with an ascot tie. He was already sporting a sharp beard with his blonde hair.
"It is simply my pleasure, dear principal. Come now, my dapper peer. Allow me to give you an exclusive tour of this wonderful academy." The dramatic teen announced while dragging away a hesitant Patrick with him.
Leaving the principal's office, Oliver struck up a conversation before the tour started.
"So what brings you to our school, Patrick… was it?"
"Yup, and I just moved here from Gotham, figured I could enroll even though I'm a little later than most." Patrick timidly shrugged, but Oliver gave him a comforting pat on the back.
"Not to worry, ol' chap. I'll make sure you'll feel right at home here, maybe I could introduce you to some of my friends." The pair walked the halls of the massive school as they continued their chat.
"Wow, you really mean it?" Patrick appreciated the offer this extravagant student deftly suggested. He was getting used to Oliver's eccentric behavior.
"But of course, we can meet them during lunch. We always welcome another member in our circle of brotherhood. Their words, not mine." Patrick thanked him once again as the tour officially started. It took a bit of time before Patrick became familiar with the school's layout, with how massive it was, glad he didn't get lost on his way to the principal's office earlier. He was thankful he made a friend in Oliver on his first day already. Who knows? Maybe he'll share his secret with the theatrical teen if he and his friends seem trustworthy enough.
"That right there is the gymnasium, do be warned, never go against a gal named Dorris, she will pummel you to the ground if you do." Patrick gulped before nodding at his friend's warning. "Noted."
"Over here is the cafeteria which we'll come back to after we're done." He peeked inside and noticed how spacious and clean it was compared to his last school.
"And now, I give you the most spectacular and wondrous place in all of Metropolis High, the school theater!" Oliver pushed open the double doors revealing a stage filled with props and lights as a bunch of students clamored around the space that exuded a sense of professionalism and grace.
Patrick whistled at the scene as he went inside the sizable interior with Oliver following closely behind. "Or as I like to call it, my own personal world of entertainment."
Patrick continued to admire his surroundings before something immediately caught his eye. "Whoa, who's that?" Oliver turned to where Patrick was pointing before his gaze turned into a glare as he narrowed his sights.
The person in question was a female teen who was around their age group. She was elegantly dressed in a manner that captivated those around her. What caught Patrick's attention was the unique coloration of her hair and the unblemished flawlessness of her skin, yet it wasn't all he was staring at.
"Oh, her." The tone in Oliver's voice was laced with venom as he recited the name of his adversary on stage. "She goes by the name of Zee Zatarra, and it's best if you don't associate yourself with the likes of that harlot. Now then, on with the tour."
Patrick raised his brow in suspicion at how malicious Oliver's remark was over the incredibly attractive girl yet made no effort to stop his friend from pulling him away from the scene.
"Anyways, I highly recommend you to consider joining our ranks in the drama club. We could always use another aspiring actor in our midst."
Quickly recovering from the strange ordeal earlier, Pat intently listened to his friend as he thought over his suggestion.
"I'll think about it." Content at his reply, Oliver merely nodded as they continued roaming down the halls of the school. It didn't take long before the bell rang, which signaled lunchtime for the students.
"Ah, lunch, perfect. Come along now, we best be on our way." Patrick followed behind Oliver as the latter led them back towards the cafeteria.
Soon, with food trays filled with decadent meals, the pair maneuvered between the sea of students before a voice called out.
"Oliver, over here!" Turning toward the direction of the voice, Patrick saw a bunch of other guys all gathered up at one table. Both teens got closer and arrived at the table as Oliver presented Patrick to his other friends.
"Grrreetings, bros. May I introduce to you the new transfer student Patrick. I volunteered to guide him around the school earlier and offered to let him join us for lunch." Oliver extravagantly introduced him which made Patrick feel slightly nervous from being put on the spot.
"No problem, bro. The more the merrier." Another blonde chimed up as he placed a hand on Patrick's shoulder before seating him with the rest of the group.
"Hey, new guy. Nice to meet you, I'm Hal Jordan. The school's number one jock and also the most handsomest of them all." Hal said as he flexed his bulging muscles.
"Pleasure to meet you guys, glad to be here. The name's Patrick, call me Pat." Setting his tray down, Patrick spent most of their lunch period getting to know the other guys he hoped to befriend.
"Yo, Pat, what made you transfer over to our school anyway?" The little dude whom Pat knows as Garth asked him which ceased some of the gang's usual chatter during this allotted time for relaxation.
"Oh, well, I moved here with my family and they enrolled me here. Simple as that." Replying while he munched his food, the rest of the guys joined in on the conversation to get to know the new kid in town.
The ecstatic and incredibly active blonde, named Barry, started spewing out question after question to which Pat did his best to answer.
"I'd say my favorite color is red, kinda goes with my style."
"I hear you, man. I also dig the color. Anyway, you have plans later?"
"Not particularly, why?"
"Splendid! We intended to roam the city for anything that might tickle our fancy later, perhaps you'd like to accompany us, dear Patrick." Oliver said with playful glee as most of the other guys bore expectant looks.
Patrick shrugged, "If I'm not a bother, then sure. I just have to text my parents that I'm gonna be out with friends tonight."
"Awesome, trust us, you're not gonna wanna miss this, bro." Hal put out his fist as Pat met him with a fist bump. Thus, signifying their pact of brotherhood. The rest cheered at the notion of having another member amongst their ranks. Barry whistled in elation. Oliver clapped softly. Garth pumped his fists in the air. The muscles of the group, Carter, who is usually silent, gave a curt nod.
After their short moment of celebration, the boys decided what time they should meet up later.
"How about we see each other at the front of the school when the bell rings?" Barry suggested while the others agreed. Once lunch ended the gang parted ways and headed for their next classes of the day.
Surprisingly, Garth and Pat were heading in the same direction. "Hey, Pat, where are you going?"
"To my physics class, you?"
"Aw, sweet. We have the same class, bro!" The midget announced while jumping around his taller friend in excitement.
"Awesome, never noticed that before. Well, we better hurry if we don't want to get in trouble." Just as the two were about to sprint for the class, a voice halted them in their tracks.
"Hey, Garth, wait up!" Turning around, Pat saw a girl wearing a purple hoodie with pointed ears waving at them.
"Oh, hey, Babs! You have Physics as well, right?" Garth greeted the light-skinned girl as she caught up with the pair.
"Yeah, I was gonna go with the rest of the girls but nature called so I told them to go on ahead. I saw you around the corner and figured that we could go together." The girl named, Babs, turned her focus to the taller-than-average teen beside her shorter-than-average friend. "Who's your buddy over here?"
"Oh, right. Allow me to introduce to you, the newest addition to our squad, Patrick!" The person in question simply gave a polite wave and Babs returned the gesture. "He just transferred today, and I along with the rest of the bros are already good friends with Pat over here. We actually also have the same class, why don't we all go together?"
"Sounds neat. Hey there, Patrick, nice to meet you." Babs held out her hand for a handshake and Pat accepted it in kind. "Feeling nervous?" Pat shrugged in response. "Well, don't be. I was also the new kid in town when school started so I can relate. Where did you come from?"
The trio then started their trek towards their class while continuing their conversation. "Oh, I'm from Gotham actually. My family decided that it would be a lot safer for us if we moved here."
"O-M-No way!" Her high-pitched voice started becoming giddy at his reply. "I'm from Gotham too! Gotham buddies!" Babs enveloped Pat in a tight squeeze which made the boy feel a little perturbed by the sudden form of friendly intimacy.
"I can't believe there's another resident of Gotham here in Metropolis, oh my gosh, we have so much to talk about!" Babs started going on and on about certain hotspots, landmarks, and other things about Gotham that the two can relate to. Although the mention of nightly screams and bomb threats didn't really sit kindly with Patrick, it was one of the main reasons why his family moved in the first place, but seeing Babs excitedly share about her experience of the crime-ridden city, he didn't have the heart to discourage her thought process.
Nodding along to whatever Babs talked about, the trio eventually reached their destination. "Aw, we're here already. It was nice talking to you Pat, we should do this again sometime."
Pat tried to hide his discomfort about reminiscing his time back in his old hometown, his voice sounded awkward yet compelling. "Uh… yeah, sure. Sometimes." Flashing a wide smile, Babs went in before the two boys.
Wiping the slight sweat forming on his forehead, Patrick came to a startling realization. "Oh crap, sorry about leaving you out of the conversation, Garth, that was so not cool of me." The little teen gave him an understanding smile. "It's cool, Pat. I'm pretty sure only you could understand Babs' fascination with Gotham when there's crime literally around every bend."
Patrick felt relieved, "Besides, glad that there's someone who can handle the swirling ball of energy. Good for you, dude. Anyways, we better head in before Mrs. Frederickson scolds us for being late." Pat was left behind as he stood in confusion at Garth's earlier statement. However, the bell rang which knocked him out of his stupor as he stammered inside the classroom.
The class resumed as usual, Patrick had to introduce himself to the class and he did it without making a fool of himself which he was glad about. He soon caught up with the lesson and followed procedures until Physics was over. After that would be extracurriculars that students chose to participate in, yet Pat still found himself lost and contemplated over which club suited him best. Eventually, he thought about Oliver and his offer to join the drama club, it was enticing for the most part yet he didn't feel like he entirely belonged on the spectrum of professionalism.
So Patrick then resorted to browsing around each group in hopes of finding something he would enjoy doing for the better part of his high school life. Garth parted ways minutes ago to go do his own thing which left Patrick by his lonesome. Wandering the halls of the massive school, Pat whistled to help alleviate his uneasiness. By sheer luck, he soon came across a familiar set of double doors. Voices resonated within as a theatrical ambiance seemed to draw him closer. Curiosity got the better of him and he relented. A few steady breaths were all it took before Patrick braved himself and went inside to observe the ongoings of this particular club that kept calling him back.
With precaution, he peered inside and saw a strange sight. The stage was decorated with what looked like a tall tower and shrubbery all around. Other people walked past him, completely disregarding his presence as Patrick tried to remain discreet, yet his effort remained in vain.
"Grrreetings, Patrick, my good fellow. I had an inkling that you would eventually find yourself back here with us. No one can resist the call of the theater." Oliver intruded while wrapping his arm around Patrick's shoulder before he invited him closer to the stage.
"Oh, hey Oliver. I'm just visiting." He tried to reason yet Oliver was having none of it, or simply chose to ignore his plea.
"Nonsense, my friend. Surely you were interested in joining our ranks of drama and acting. Though, I can't blame you. It is simply your pleasure to have the opportunity to work with a celebrity such as I." Oliver stated as confidence exuded his form and his smile glistened under the spotlight when he got atop the stage.
Patrick (seeing no way out of this situation) decided to humor his friend and go along with his act. Maybe he'll listen once he gets the drama out of his system. Although, Pat couldn't say that he wasn't the least bit interested. The other students seemed to take this seriously, with much less flair than what Oliver was exhibiting.
It wasn't until a voice chimed in did Oliver stopped his impromptu performance and Patrick turned to the source. "You? A celebrity? Ha! Don't make me laugh, Oliver. The only thing you're good at is boring the audience with your mediocre acting." The owner of the voice turned out to be the exceptionally beautiful girl Pat had seen earlier.
Oliver narrowed his eyes at the unwelcome intrusion. "Zee Zatarra." He growled out, clearly showing disdain for the sudden arrival of his long-time adversary.
"I can't say that it's a pleasure to see you, shouldn't you be out frolicking with those friends of yours?" He sounded irritated as Zee glared at him with as much animosity as Oliver did. "I could say the same about you." Zee directed her gaze and settled in on Patrick who tried to mediate the rising conflict between the spiteful pair.
"Who's your friend?" Zee asked as Patrick began feeling nervous under her pointed stare. "Oh, wait. I remember now. You're Patrick, aren't you? We had the same Physics class earlier. I guess you're the guy that Babs was talking about." She strutted closer to the fidgeting teen as he tugged at his color when the marginally attractive female was standing in front of him.
"Hi, the name's Zee, if you're anything Babs said you are, then you must be a nice guy." She extended her hand for a handshake which Pat accepted much too eagerly.
"Ahem!" Oliver got in between them and separated the two a few distance apart. "Don't think I am not aware of what you are doing, you witch. I'll have you know that Patrick here is one of the bros, and I insist that you do not use your feminine wiles to tempt him to your side."
"Oh, please. The only thing he should be worried about is you boys being a bad influence on him." With a sharp gasp, Oliver had a hand over his chest due to Zee's proclamation. "How dare you! Unlike you, I do not depend on measly parlor tricks to appease the crowd."
It was Zee's turn to gasp, "You take that back, you cretin! My magic is far more spectacular than some second-rate acting you're so proud of!" Their bickering slowly escalated to madness. A crowd formed but kept their distance from the group. It started with a few light insults before Zee grabbed a glass of water and poured it over Oliver's dress shirt which caused him to gasp in shock. In retaliation, Oliver picked up a bucket of glitter that was props meant for their practice and tossed a handful into Zee's face. She sputtered as tiny shimmering elements made a mess of her appearance yet added a hint of shine which made her look enigmatic.
Patrick decided it was time to intervene before they traded blows. "Okay, break it up." His hand prevented the two from getting closer to each other as he ensured everyone else's safety from their wrath. "Hey, Oliver, didn't we have something planned today? Maybe we should get going before the other guys start wondering what's keeping us so long." Patrick reasoned which got through to Oliver as he shook his head to clear himself of any unpleasant thoughts towards his foe. "Right, you are, my fine companion. Consider yourself lucky, Zee. Next time, my friend won't be here to protect you from my wrath." He threatened before storming off to the dressing room to change out of his ruined attire.
Zee scoffed at Oliver's retreating figure, "I'd like to see him try." She then noticed Patrick offering her his red handkerchief to wipe off any remaining glitter on her face which she gladly accepted. "Sorry about my friend, I don't know why he acted like that, especially towards you."
She smiled at Patrick's apologetic form, finding it endearing and gentlemanly. "Don't be, we have had this sort of hate-hate relationship for a while now. Sorry, you had to be involved."
"No, no. It wasn't your fault, I should have probably kept him in check if this became a regular thing with you guys." Patrick used a mop to clean the mess on the ground before Oliver finally returned and addressed his friend.
"Come quickly, Patrick, we mustn't keep them waiting." Patrick nodded as he gave Zee one final glance. "It was nice meeting you, Zee. We should hang out sometime." Reaching Oliver's side, the two got out of the theater and went to meet up with the rest of the bros. Zee held a face of contemplation before she chuckled and returned to her vices from before but with a small smile this time around and a slight pep in her step.
Patrick, however, was feeling a little perturbed by what he said. What did I just say to her?! I must've sounded so desperate.
He internally groaned as the two exited the school and saw the other guys standing near the foot of the stairs below, Barry waved at them as the gang was now complete.
"Sweet, now that everybody's here, let's get this show on the road." Hal took out a pair of shades as he led the group for an afternoon of fun.
The boys started walking for a few solid minutes before Patrick decided to speak up. "Sooo, any idea where we're headed?"
"Oh yeah, we figured, since it's your first time here, that we should totally stop by the pier first." Barry quickened his pace as the rest followed. Not long after, the bros arrived at the Metropolis pier, where fun and excitement were around each corner.
"Come on, bros! Let's get this party started!" Garth exclaimed as he hastily entered the dock. The rest of the bros bore ecstatic grins as they joined in on the thrill of games and food.
Patrick was pulled inside an arcade by the bros to start their noon of fun. Starting with a round of Skooz-ball, the gang engaged in hearty laughter as each took a turn on the amusement. Moving on, Barry challenged Pat to a game of DDR which made him apprehensive at the prospect of dancing with an audience. Yet, peer pressure eventually forced him into the limelight as the game started. It started easy with Patrick easily matching the score and dance moves with Barry, until the chorus started which he had trouble keeping up with the incredibly active blonde. It was when the game shifted to 'freestyle' did Patrick had a chance to shine. His flexible body suddenly allowed him to gain the upper hand against his friend as he eventually ended the session with a killer worm dance that left the bros and the forming audience speechless. Shouts of praise and congratulations were sent his way as the game finished with Patrick barely beating Barry by an inch.
"Dude, that was sick! I've never seen someone move their body like that, bro!" Feeling sheepish Pat acknowledged their compliments, albeit bashfully.
"Aw shucks, it was nothing. But thanks." The day was still young as the gang moved on to more rides and games, but chose to eat some snacks first to fill their stomachs.
After devouring a few slices of pizza, the bros were ready to play some more. Eventually, they stumbled upon a strength test game, as the biggest guy in the group, Carter, was pressed by his friends to play. By applying his hulking body, he lifted the mallet high above his head before slamming it into the machine to ring the bell and collected his prize, a bird plushie resembling a hawk.
The boys removed Hal from some school girls he was attempting to flirt with and came across a booth that had darts and balloons as its attraction. A monkey mascot manned the game as Oliver took center stage. With a few swift and precise aims, his shots never missed the targets as he scored a perfect game. The bros congratulated him before Garth pulled their attention over to a booth that had a bunch of goldfish in bowls as rewards. The result was that Garth now had a new pet. Soon after, the gang stumbled upon a photo booth where Barry brought the rest of the guys inside to cement Patrick's inclusion into the gang.
Funny faces and a few pictures later, their time at the pier eventually came to an end. The sun began setting on the horizon, bathing the city in a red and orange glow. The expanse of the night sky slowly revealed the glistening stars above which made the evening much more pleasant and content as the rowdy bunch exited the pier. Idle chatter and excited banter emanated from the group as they recounted all that they achieved in one afternoon.
Suddenly, Barry had a reminder, "Oh, dudes, I literally forgot I have the night shift today. Hey, I got an idea, why don't us bros end the night there?"
"Sounds like a plan," Garth replied for the group as moved along, Pat remained confused and a little lost.
"Hey, Patrick! Are you coming or what?" Hal asked.
"Uh, I'm sorry, but where are we going?" The other bros stopped in their tracks as realization struck.
"Oh, right. You haven't been there before."
"Not to worry, Patrick. If you thought the night was over then you are sorely mistaken." The bros pushed Patrick along with them as he grew baffled.
"Pat, let me introduce to you the sweetest, the bestest, and the most cavity-inducing place in all of Metropolis — Sweet Justice!" Barry presented a pinkish building with the name printed in bolded letters at the forefront. Crowds of people filled the place as Pat saw them enjoying different kinds of sugary treats.
"... aka, the place where I work part-time." Going ahead of the group, Barry entered before the rest of the guys, including an intrigued Patrick, followed suit. Upon entering the establishment, Pat came to behold an incredibly tooth-decaying sight.
I feel like getting diabetes just from looking.
Various saccharine delicacies were on full display. From cakes to shakes, to ice cream and frosting. Everywhere his eyes landed, there was sugar, sugar, and more sugar.
"This is usually our go-to spot to grab something sweet." Garth pulled Pat by his arm to the counter where Barry, now in uniform, greeted them. "Heya, folks! What's shaking?"
"Barry, you work here?" Patrick questioned.
"Sure do, been an employee here since two summers ago. The pay is good and I just love serving people something to satisfy their sweet tooth. Anyways, you know what you're gonna order, bro?"
"We'll have our usuals, Barry. Maybe you could surprise Patrick here with a little bit of some razzle-dazzle?" Oliver ordered as the rest of the bros went to find a free booth.
"Leave it to me!" Giving a thumbs up, Barry winked at them as he started to get to work on the desserts. Pat sat down with the rest of his friends who found a table for them. Seated near the end of the booth, he continued to look around, admiring the new scenery and the new places he experienced today.
I can't remember the last time I had this much fun with friends.
Oliver's comment knocked him out of his thoughts, "Well then, how would you rate this afternoon of play, dear Patrick?"
Pat gave the guys a sincere grin, "Honestly? I can't thank you enough for the invite. You guys are pretty cool and this is probably the most exciting day I've had in months."
The rest smirked at the revelation, "Just keep hanging out with us and you'll be in for more surprises, bro." Hal put out his fist in the middle as other guys mimicked his action. Patrick then added his hand with a sigh.
"On me, guys."
"Go bros!" They shouted in unison except for Patrick who was unprepared for the chant.
"Oh, go… bros." The guys chuckled at his awful attempt at their celebratory hand gesture.
"Aw, you guys started without me?" Barry arrived at their table carrying a plate filled with sugary treats.
"Sorry, bro. We'll include you in the next one." Once settled, the gang feasted upon their selection of desserts with satisfied expressions as the sugar seeped into their system.
To say Pat was surprised at the dessert in front of him was an understatement. Barry made him a bubblegum sundae bowl, drizzled with chocolate fudge and light filling of taffy, or as he would call it, "Chewy Jamboree."
Taking a tentative bite, the serotonin immediately rushed to his brain as the sugar melted his reservation which gave way to something innately feral. Patrick held himself back from diving headfirst into the bowl as he took a few steady breaths to let the saccharine confection settle down. While he was doing that, a whistle caught him by surprise as the other bros stopped chattering and directed their attention to where the sound originated from.
At the booth next to them, Patrick looked behind and instantly came face to face with Babs' ecstatic and wide smiling features. He choked on his dessert before noticing a bunch of other girls in the booth with Babs. Zee was part of them along with a meekly short girl, a muscular Blondie, a hippie, and last but not least an incredibly beautiful woman who dwarfed the rest in height. Patrick found himself staring before snapping out of it as Babs started talking.
"What are the odds! Nice to see you guys, what're you bros doing here?"
Garth swallowed a spoonful of ice cream before he answered, "Probably the same reason you girls are here. What better way to end the night than with some sugar, am I right?"
It was then the tall girl voiced her opinion, "You are correct my small friend. There is nothing that can best these delicacies, especially after a day filled with activities and entertainment." She spoke in a regal manner, her body language reminiscent of royalty.
"Ooh, girls! Remember the guy I was talking about earlier? Well, say hello to Patrick! He came from Gotham, like me! Isn't that awesome?" Babs became giddy as she exclaimed about Patrick's place of origin, yet he didn't particularly share the sentiment she had about that city.
"Oh, right. Hey, Patrick, let me introduce you to my friends. Starting from the right, this is Kara, the atomic blonde that will kick your butt if you ever cross her!" Patrick made eye contact with the muscular girl as she gave him a two-fingered salute.
"Sup, dude."
"Hey." He replied, "I like your jacket." She gave him an approving nod in response.
"Now, over here, is Jessica, we call her Jess for short. She loves nature and is usually a pacifist, but will stand up against those that would bring harm to everything green!"
Chuckling at her friend's rambunctious behavior, Jess faced Patrick with a polite smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Patrick. Babs told us a lot of things about you."
Patrick gulped the small lump forming in his throat, still not used to being an overly social individual but he's willing to learn. "Good things, I hope." Rubbing the back of his head, Jess found it quite charming and a little humorous that someone like Patrick would be so humble.
"Of course, any friend of Babs is a friend to us." Patrick gave a resolute nod before Babs grabbed his chin and made him face the next girl.
"Next up, this is Karen. She's a little awkward but you'll love her for it. Usually the busy-bee, she's someone incredibly smart for her size." The petite girl tried to appear inconspicuous yet failed as she resorted to giving him a compliant wave.
"Hey, it's, uh, nice to meet you."
Patrick let out a reassuring smile to the meek girl which helped calm her nerves a little as he could relate to her situation a bit. "Nice to see you too, Karen. I hope we'll be good friends."
Karen blushed, using her baggy sweater to help hide her shame from everyone but a gentle curve of her lips was noticeable before shying away.
"Moving on, this is Zee! Her magic can wow those who are unaware of the secrets behind her performance. She's as passionate as she is beautiful!"
"He knows, Babs. We already met earlier when he visited my club." Oliver grumbled under his breath as he corrected Zee's statement, 'My club'. Zee begrudgingly overheard him and rolled her eyes in annoyance before she retrieved something from her purse.
"Thanks for lending me your handkerchief, Pat, you can have it back now." She returned the fabric as Patrick pocketed it. "No problem, glad I could help. I gotta say it's nice to see you again, Zee." He flashed her that smile that caught her attention from before. She gave her own smile which caused Patrick to slightly blush as the formation of her lips only added to her already gorgeous features.
"Oh, you flatter me, Pat. The feeling's mutual nonetheless." The two let out hearty chuckles which raised some brows between the two groups.
Deciding to get back on track, Babs garnered everyone's attention to the last remaining member of her friend group. "And finally, let me introduce you to Diana Prince! She's the de facto leader of us girls and is the complete package! Brawns, brains, beauty, and everything in between!"
Diana chose to stand up as she directly focused her attention on Patrick. "It is my honor to meet your acquaintance, Patrick, or do you prefer Pat?"
"Pat's fine, it's cool meeting you and the rest of the girls too." The two shook hands in the name of camaraderie.
Eventually, the two groups settled to share the day's experience. Exchanging stories, laughs, and playful banter. Patrick soon found the atmosphere kinda nice. Looking back and forth between his bros and the girls, the scene felt foreign but also delightful in a homey sense. As the night progressed and desserts deftly consumed, a ruckus diverted everyone's attention. The television hung in the center of the building loudly blared as an emergency broadcast depicted a chaotic scene.
"Attention citizens, coming to you live in midtown. A gang of villainous miscreants are wreaking havoc across the area. People are running for their lives as the evildoers are destroying everything in their path." The newscaster spoke in an alarmed tone as the camera displayed the villains, or villainesses' in this case, terrorizing the city's inhabitants.
They were all women dressed in different fashions that represented their criminal theme. The first was dressed in a tight bodysuit similarly designed to that of a cat as she used her sharpened claws to slash her way throughout the place. Another had sickly green skin and red hair as vegetation covered her body while pillars of vines adhered to her will. Next was an enormous woman with bulging muscles, leopard skin fabrics barely covered her intimate parts while she used her strength to crush some vehicles and tear through buildings. After the giantess was a villain dressed in a violet puffy dress, she was radiating a pinkish hue while spheres of the same light danced around her form in a mesmerizing fashion. A flash of lightning shot at the Daily Planet's news helicopter as they caught a shot of the perpetrator. The villainess' body was vibrating in an electrical glow, she rumbled as lightning formed in her hands which zapped the news team as the chopper crashed to the ground. Thankfully, the employees were safe but another threat loomed over the victims. The last of the villains wore what Patrick made out to be a court jester's bodysuit styled in red and black. Wearing heavy white makeup and laughing maniacally, the villainess swung her mallet at the camera before static remained on screen.
Patrick was in shock, it wasn't surprising to see villains from where he came from, but finding a gang of them in Metropolis was a bit baffling. Though, considering the fact Superman and other recognizable heroes made the city their home, he guessed that villains of all shapes and sizes would eventually pop up one after another. He was startled when his friends all stood up at the same time with equally concerned looks.
"I just remembered that we were gonna have a sleepover tonight. Gotta go!" Babs exclaimed as the girls exited the premises shouting different manners of excuses for their abrupt exit.
"Apologies, Patrick but we must cut this party short, for um— reasons!" Oliver stated as he calmly turned towards the exit the guys wore sheepish smiles while facing Patrick as they slowly started backing out of the building.
Patrick was now alone. Both booths are now devoid of life, plates licked clean, as silence befell the once vibrant atmosphere. "I guess I'll go home." He presumed while still wondering what was going on with his friends.
Promptly leaving Sweet Justice, the streets were busy as the city lit up in a kaleidoscope of lights and noise. He scanned the block for any sign of his friends yet none were present. Off in the distance, he could hear a disturbance that reverberated throughout the city.
"That's probably where the villains are causing mayhem. Hopefully, somebody will arrive to stop them." Patrick's home was in the other direction where he was finally headed, but a loud explosion halted his tracks. Peeking behind him, he saw a couple of police cruisers gunning toward the scene, sirens blaring as the distant screams of frightened citizens resonated aloud.
Pat's will wavered, his mental fortitude gave way as curiosity got the better of him. Yet the underlying worry for his friends was what inevitably aroused his concern for the unfolding chaos.
"I better not regret this." Foregoing his doubts, his steps led him toward the archaic scene. After minutes of running, he felt a shortness of breath as he panted in place.
"Should've taken the bus." Fetching his handkerchief, he used it to wipe the sweat on his face and detected a peculiar scent wafting from the piece of cloth in his hands. It smelled fragrant and sweet, the aroma slowly clouding his senses but he managed to snap out of it before he fell in a trance.
"Is that… lavender?" He deduced before remembering that Zee used his handkerchief earlier. It seemed the cloth contracted her scent, it was as bewitching as her appearance. Pat was about to go into a daze, but he unconsciously raised his hand to slap himself on the cheek.
"Find my friends first, daydream later." He bemused before breaking off into a sprint.
Soon, the sounds became clearer as the sight of a chaotic midtown came into view. Cars were flipped, walls were torn, and fires spread all around him.
Patrick saw a fire truck dowsing the flames while firemen rescued the remaining citizens. Police escorted everyone from the scene as the situation was under control.
"Welp looks like I'm not needed here. Better go now before I get into a whole heap of trou—" He wasn't able to finish his sentence as a red blur zoomed past him which freaked him out. Ducking behind a garbage can, Pat saw the blur speeding across the buildings.
"Are they running from something?" The answer came quickly as a bolt of lightning zapped the streets, aiming to strike the blur but missed as the target was too fast for them to hit.
Concealing himself the best he could, Pat watched as a fight broke out with him safely off to the side. He saw the giant woman come crashing down as a smaller individual punched her in the abdomen. A girl dressed in red, blue, and yellow flew while pummeling the villain into the ground. She was pulled away from the downed giant as a vine wrapped around her leg before it slammed her into a wall. The plant girl he saw on the news showed up and summoned giant Venus fly traps at her side. Before the plant could chomp down on the super-powered girl, a green transparent barrier shielded her from the incoming attack. Pat turned and saw a boy and a girl in a green and black bodysuit with white gloves. Both were glowing an earthy green as the female used what seemed to be a ring on her fist and used the light to retrieve her friend. However, they didn't have time to rest as a volley of pink arrows rained down upon them. The boy glowing green formed a dome around the three to protect themselves from the attack. The perpetrator was the fancily dressed villainess who had a giant flaming heart behind her back as she continued firing on the two. Pat can faintly hear the villain screaming at the girl for 'stealing her man', but ignores it. Storm clouds brewed as the bolt of lightning from before reformed into the electrifying villain who lent a hand in the assault as a beam of thunder shot at the heroes whose dome was starting to crack. Pat was feeling very distressed at the situation, he wanted to help them but didn't want to be involved in this whole debacle. Thankfully, the speeding blur returned and fought off the plant-based villain who rendered her unfit to battle for the time being. That small moment of disturbance was enough to distract the two firing bad guys as the heroes retreated to safety. The blur tried to flee as well but didn't watch where they were going as a whip lassoed around their form which revealed the feline evildoer. Her claws brandished as the giant recovered and grabbed the red-suited hero. Before the criminal scum could cause further harm, a few beeping balls were thrown at them before they exploded in a puff of blinding smoke.
Pat was mesmerized as he observed the fight with growing excitement. He was still in danger, no doubt about that, but it didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the show. From atop a rooftop, a figure glided down before they threw their arsenal at the enemy. The sharpened throwing weapons allowed for a quick getaway as the blur picked up the purple-cladded crusader from the smoke cloud. When the fog dissipated, the four villains looked around for the heroes before they heard a loud screech from above. A bulky man with a pair of wings slammed his mace in the middle of the bad guys which compromised their balance. Followed after was a robin-hooded character equipped with a bow shooting at the villains which anchored them to the ground. Plant girl, the feline criminal, the raging giantess, Miss Shocks, and the prom queen (Patrick's unofficial nickname for them) were successfully held down yet none looked deterred. When the heroes approached the villains to apprehend them a crazed cackle caught them off guard as a lit bomb was thrown their way. The bomb exploded which repelled the heroes a few distance back, sustaining scratches and burns in the process. Groaning, the heroes forced themselves back up as the villains grinned evilly at them. The jester arrived and laughed like a psychopath as she threw another bomb at the good guys. Before the incendiary made contact, a howling armor-cladded woman arrived as she raised her shield to deflect the explosive. Looking at the state of her friends, the warrior bore a fierce expression as she faced the enemy. Pat then noticed another hero joining the fray, he was enraptured at the distinctive shimmering hair the hero possessed and was even more amazed as she chanted a few words in a strange dialect which somehow healed her fellow heroes from the injuries they incurred. Both sides faced off each other in a heated staring contest, neither relenting in their intense gazes. However, in a humorous turn of events, the fire engine from before slammed into the villains as the driver took off before standing beside the heroes.
Patrick saw the latest addition to the heroes, his or her small figure suited her bee aesthetic. The heroes were gladdened at their friend's arrival, unfortunately they still didn't have time to rest. A loud grunt sounded out as they focused on the emergency vehicle being lifted by the enormous villainess before she threw the locomotive at the heroes as they ran for cover. A loud crash resounded as dust particles shrouded the battlefield. Silence rang across the streets. It was deafening, the looming dark clouds above slowly rumbled. A light drizzle of rain fell upon the city, washing the streets of grime and rubble. The dust cloud settled, revealing both sides looking a little worse for wear. Pat once again contemplated his next course of action, should he intervene to help the heroes? Or allow them to finish what they've started? The rain quickly ended and the silence was at its heaviest. The heroes reconvened, huddling themselves together as the villains did the same. It was at this moment did the feline criminal spoke up.
"You goody-goody heroes always get in the way of our fun." She sneered while glaring at the leading figure of the heroes. The armored warrior stepped up to confront her enemy.
"If your perception of fun is endangering the good people of this city, then we will do what we must to stop your wicked ways, Catwoman."
Ah, so that is her name… shocker.
"Don't think you've won yet, Superhero Girls. We are only getting started." The villains prepared themselves to face off against the heroes.
"Um, hello? We're here as well. These girls aren't the only supers around these parts you know?" The glowing male from before voiced out his dissatisfaction at being overlooked by the enemy. The Superhero Girls simply rolled their eyes at his antics.
"It doesn't matter. Whoever you boys are, none of you will leave this place unscathed." The threat sounded serious as the bad guys— girls? Readied their powers and weapons to engage in the fight once more.
However, the warning fell on deaf ears as the glowing male scoffed at the villain's remark. "Doesn't matter? It so too does matter! 'Cause we, are, the Invincibros!" The male segment of the heroes posed dramatically as the others present deadpanned at their theatrics, including Patrick.
Really? They couldn't have come up with a better name.
"Enough of this!" The criminals charged towards the heroes with full force, until a whistle made them pause.
"Hey, bad guys! Get a load of this!" A vertically challenged hero showed up before raising his arms in the air. Nothing happened at first, but Patrick noticed his damp hair drying. He looked around and realized that the small puddles and remaining drops of water began floating. The liquid adhered to the little guy's will before he bundled the surrounding water into one big ball which he then launched at the villains. They didn't have time to react as the liquid sphere came hurtling towards them. Prom Queen at least managed to summon a teeny tiny umbrella before they were washed away by the water-based attack.
The other heroes, especially the ones calling themselves "The Invincibros", cheered on the short hero for a job well done.
"It's not over yet." They heard one of the villains proclaim. At Catwoman's command, the electrified villain sent a sharp jolt of electricity at the heroes. Looking down at their feet, they realized not all of the water was removed and they were subject to a discounted electrical therapy courtesy of Miss Shocks.
I really gotta find out their names.
The heroes soon fell one by one. They suffered too much damage from the electrical shock which coursed through their systems. Even the hardy regal warrior succumbed to her injuries and had fallen much like her brethren.
"No, we can't fall now." She pushed herself beyond her limits, struggling to barely stand up. Wavering in the slightest movement, her blurry vision saw the villains with evil grins creeping closer to her comrades. "St-stay back!" She helplessly stuttered as the pain became too much for her to bear. In a last-ditch effort, she raised her sword at them but quickly found her strength draining as she let go of the weapon soon after. The heroic warrior was about to faint when she heard a startling noise.
Out of nowhere, another figure intervened in the fight, they stood between the heroes and villains as those consciously present were surprised at the newcomer. He was dressed in a red full-body leotard for men and had a thick pair of silver goggles with black lenses as he exuded an aura of confidence while confronting the enemy.
Catwoman was shocked but quickly snapped out of it, she was so done with heroes tonight that she immediately went on the attack. Her claws were ready to strike, she scratched the hero but funnily didn't manage to penetrate his skin. It felt soft, and sort of rubbery. Not halting for a second, she resumed lashing out at the intruding hero but her attacks proved futile and the hero launched an attack of his own. His hands morphed into thick hammers the color of his skin which stupefied his opponent before delivering a heavy strike at Catwoman's abdomen. The villain felt the air being knocked out of her lungs as she fell to the ground.
The rest of the vile criminals became enraged, the jester charged at the unwavering hero, using her mallet, the two exchanged hammered blows with one another before the red-suited hero grabbed both of her hands and headbutted her with full force.
The villain had stars in her eyes as she staggered around. "Is your forehead an anvil, because—" She didn't finish her sentence before passing out next to her fellow criminal.
"Such strength." The warrior-esque hero surmised as she watched the scene unfold.
"Psst, Wonder Woman." She looked beside her to see her purple-capped friend. "Who's that guy?"
She thought of her reply for a moment, "I… do not know, Batgirl. But I pray to the gods that he is on our side." Wonder Woman hoped, as the fight between the newly arrived hero with the villains dragged on.
The stern hero was now facing off against the plant-based villainess, she was sending her 'babies' at him while he tried his best to repel them. Not too long, an idea came to him as his malleable fingers turned thin and long before they rotated at extreme speeds. He used his spinning fingers to combat the vegetation, whacking them until nothing was left of the plants before his limbs stretched to inhuman lengths wrapped around the criminal, and slammed her into the pavement beside her peers.
"Such versatility." The other heroes slowly came to as they spectated the ongoing fight.
Having had enough, the giant woman yelled loudly before rocketing at the hero who retracted his extended limbs. "Puny hero thinks he can beat Giganta! Me will show hero what happens to fools like you!" Her giant fist collided with the hero who made no effort to dodge it as he was sent to the side of a building where the wall was now caved in.
"Ha ha! Giganta is strong, weak hero is not!" The giant villain declared while boasting about her strength. However, a rumble ceased her small lapse of celebration. From the rubble, the hero got out but the observers noticed something off. He was bigger and growing still. His height became taller, his body grew wider as he slowly enlarged to a colossal size. Now dwarfing Giganta who was aware of the difference of power between them.
"Giganta no like! Puny hero is cheating!" He didn't let her speak any further before bringing his foot down on the villain, silencing her, and putting the bad guy out of commission. A sizable crater in the shape of his boot surrounded the unconscious crook who was plastered on the soles.
"Such power." Both boy and girl superheroes started cheering on the newcomer. Exclaimed about how awesome and cool he looked saving the day.
After scraping off the villain from his footwear and returning to normal size, prickly heart-shaped projectiles shot at him, the pointed attacks pierced his body from head to toe, and Prom Queen continued her assault, not relenting for a second. She eventually ceased her attack as the hero looked at her only mildly annoyed. His form was riddled with heart arrows but he merely plucked them all out, not a single scratch remained as he cracked his neck. The puffy-dressed villain gulped at the current turn of events, the strange yet incredibly powerful individual got closer as she slowly shriveled up and braced for whatever was coming her way. She was expecting a gut punch, or headbutt, or being stomped on. What she didn't expect was the hero presenting her with a bouquet of flowers. Both sides were puzzled at his show of courtship, none more so than the villain subjected to the bespectacled act. It was a little flattering to know that she could even charm the likes of powerful heroes such as him, even though the flowers looked kind of off, pertaining to the strange skin-like color of the plants, she accepted the gift nonetheless. Without her knowledge, the hero snaked one of his limbs behind her back before delivering a quick and well-placed strike to her vagus nerve which knocked her out cold. Catching the villainess before she roughly fell face-first into the ground, the hero gently placed her down along with her friends.
"How chivalrous." "How gallant." Wonder Woman noticed her magical friend beside her fawning over the hero's gentlemanly behavior even towards the villains. The robin-hooded fellow scoffed, citing something about his "crude form" but was silenced by a purple ball of energy from the magician.
Finally, all that was left was the electrifying villain who was already charging up for a big attack on the hero. Her body lit up as she absorbed the currents of lights around her. The energy swirled within her system as she gathered every ounce of lightning she had into her palms. Electricity crackled in the surroundings before she finally released all her stored-up power to the unsuspecting involvement.
"Hey, super-dweeb!" The hero cocked his head at her, "Let me shock it to ya!" She fired her charged attack. The streets were enveloped in a blinding light as the scorching wave of energy struck the hero head-on. The heroes were left concerned for the safety of their savior. Doing nothing to help him, their injuries still took their toll on them as they could only cover their eyes and watch the brave hero bear the entire force of the thunderous onslaught.
Eventually, the light died down as the heroes held their breath for the state of the hero who risked his life for them. Shockingly (pun intended), they saw him standing still with a nonchalant expression. The attack seemingly did not affect him as he yawned at the confounded villain whose mouth hung open. He gave her a smirk that completely frightened the criminal, her strongest attack yet didn't do a thing in the face of this hero. She tried to run, keyword 'tried', but found her body constricted by a stretched limb which then proceeded to toss her over to the rest of the villains. Her energy reserves ran dry as she felt herself weakened and unable to move any further. She was a fool to think that this hero, or whatever he was, was something she could handle, the last she saw was him smiling over her fainting form.
"Such charisma."
With the villains out of commission, the Superhero Girls and Invincibros are finally resuscitated from their injuries. Wonder Woman stood firm and tall as she confronted the hero who came to their aid. She wanted to thank him, to express her eternal gratitude for all that he did in their time of need. Yet she found herself troubled to form a coherent sentence. There was an underlying question that she wanted— no, needed— to be answered. She gulped the forming lump in her throat, steady breaths to calm her nerves, and steeled herself to ask this hero.
"Who are you?"
That's all for now, see you guys next time!
