It had began during the final moments within the world, which Klonoa had saved. While sadden that he needed to leave, he at least had gotten to say his farewells to those he's became friends with before his departure. When the dream traveler had left Lunatea, glad he was able to help save another world from destruction.
He had awoken back in his bed, as despite the dream traveling he had done, Klonoa only slept for the whole night, and waking till the morning. Feeling much more refreshed. He looks outside his window. To see the village of Breezegale, and gentle breezes moving the windmills. This put a smile on Klonoa's face.
Klonoa: It's going to be a sunny day, , ,maybe Lolo and the others also have it too.
He says as he gets washed up and dressed for the day, including placing his trusty ring to his pants, and headed downstairs where his older brother Aero was waiting for him. The smell was alluring to Klonoa, as it was favorite to both brothers. Aero's ears picked this up and smiled, while also greeting him.
Aero: Well hey there sleepyhead, boy you sure look like you've had a good dream.
Klonoa: Hey Aero, you could say it was. Hey are those pancakes your making?
Aero: You bet, say why don't you give me a hand.
Klonoa: Ok sure thing.
The two brothers began to do just that, with Klonoa helping with getting the table set for the two of them. Including adding cups of orange juice for their drinks, warmed up syrup and berries, chocolate chips and whip cream to add. This helped the younger cabbit keep his mind off Lunatea for a bit.
Klonoa: So did grandpa's letter come in?
Aero: Yeah, but I think you should read it, I know you told me that it was your turn this time. It's on the counter.
Klonoa: At least I'm taller now, I'd probably bug you to get it for me.
He goes to get it, he could tell Aero didn't open it.
"To my boys, I have made it to Volk city safe and sound. I will say that it was nice to venture out again, seeing different sites and meeting new people. I hope you have been keeping yourselves well and safe too. I know it's silly of me to think that way, but as your worried guardian I am only making sure. Your Aunt Margarete has been doing wonderful, and has been doing work within Joilant, I told her how much you boys have grown and she hopes you both will come visit her sometime. I will be back by next week, please don't feel sad about writing, it will be nice to know what you two have been up to. Love Grandpa."
This made Klonoa feel relived to know that his grandpa is safe, and has even shown Aero who was also relived. Both brothers sat down to discuss during breakfast, and Klonoa told him about what he went through during his dream traveling adventures. Both the good, the bad and the in-between.
Aero: Sounds to me you made a difference this time little bro. And those lives you changed will be for a better future. You even managed to make some friends.
Klonoa: Yeah and I am glad I did what I needed to. I am a dream traveler like you.
Aero: Heh heh look at you, being like your big bro, you're getting the hang of it, much better then I did when I was your age.
Klonoa: You're only three years older then me Aero-H,hey stop messing with my hair I just got that brushed!
The two messed with eachother, but it was just play tease. It was when Aero spoke of something different.
Aero: You know Klonoa, I have noticed when you got up, you looked kind of sad. . .You're still thinking about him arnt you.
The younger cabbit looked down and nodded. It had been about five years since he saved Phantomile, and how it still stuck with him. And that his leaving of the next world made him feel the same, only not as forced.
Klonoa: I know I should move on, I am aware how it's not healthy to dwell on the past. . .But it still hurts to think back on. How do you handle it? Being forced to leave when your time there is done?
Aero: It wasn't easy when I first went through it, in fact it was one of the few times I actually got furious and, , ,attacked my once closest friends. Or who I thought was my friend, telling them how cruel they were to use me.
Klonoa was silent, hearing this and how the tone was different, more sorrow filled came from the usually upbeat cabbit. He looked at him and could see some slight tears escape his eyes, but tried to remain calm. Even wiping away the tears.
Aero: S-sorry, I didn't know what came over me there for a sec. I guess its been so long since I thought about it. I don't know why, it's like I can't remember after what happened after that moment. . .But if there is something I do remember, after leaving and being in the state that I was in. I couldn't come home because I didn't want you to think I was mad with you.
Klonoa: So that's why you were gone for 2 weeks. Aero, I never knew you kept this from me. Why didn't you say anything?
Aero: I guess I didn't want to worry you. And you were too young to even understand at the time, , ,I barley understood myself.
Klonoa: Yeah I suppose that makes sense, but even if I didn't know, I still would've helped make you feel better.
While it was sweet of the younger cabbit to be thinking so positive, it did seem to ease the older one's nerves.
Aero: How can someone like you be so thoughtful of others?
Klonoa: I don't know, I guess it just runs in our family.
Aero: . . .Yeah, ever since that day that with what happened with mom and dad. We have a special gift Klonoa, and it's only the few who are chosen by Destiny and Fate who sees them worthy to help those of different worlds. But if there is something I can faintly remember, is this one dream, where there is a place that helps those who loses their balance within their hearts.
This got the Klonoa's attention, sure he's had many adventures that contained ether of these, which sounds like that out of a dream itself. . .does a world like that even exist? Does this also contain histories about it, it's residents and those that ruled over? He wasn't too sure, but the idea made a part of him feel excited and curious enough to want to someday see it for himself. Aero looks at him before giving him a ruffle to his hair and chuckling.
Aero: Well we can talk about this later, come on finish up, we have some errands to run in town, and i'm sure we may stop by that one shop you've been begging me to take you to.
This brighten the cabbit's face a bit, as he finished up and the brothers headed out. They had some traveling to do but Klonoa was in a much better mood, and the skies were clear. By the time they entered the town and began to run their errands. Which were lending some of the shops some helping hands, and with their skills it made it easier to do. Them getting the mail sent and grocery shopping, which Aero had told Klonoa that he'll be back in a bit and that he'll catch up. When he jumped off, Klonoa was looking around, just site seeing. Enjoying the sights and people, and how some were pleasant in saying how much the boys have helped. All was fine until he accidently bumped into someone.
Klonoa: Menya!
?: Hey watch where you're going kid.
Klonoa: Ahh S-sorry I was just looking around while my brother was doing some errands!
?: Well just watch where you're going. You don't want to end up crossing the wrong kind of people.
The dream traveler looked at who it was he bumped into, they were a gold and black wolf, wearing some kind of red and charcoal, goggles, boots and gloves. He was much taller then Klonoa, about as tall as Aero, while first glance he seems intimidating, but the look in his eye and body language seem normal. In fact the wolf looked at Klonoa with a curious look.
?: Say you almost look like this cabbit I use to know.
Klonoa: You mean my brother Aero?
?: Wait he's your brother?-could that mean he's in this town?-
Klonoa: Umm yes, is there an issue with that?
?: No sorry, , ,just forget about it, you keep out of trouble ok kid?
He said as he begins to walk off, leaving the dream traveler on his own again.
Klonoa:-What a weird guy. How does he even know my brother? Could he be a friend of his, or a rival? But, , ,why does he look familiar to me?-
Klonoa couldn't put his finger on this, he shrugs as he wondered to where the alleyways were. But he then stops and notices something by a hallway entrance, All seemed quiet until a chirp sounded off and Klonoa could see a strange looking bird creature, it was blue, with some rabbit ears and yellow eyes. He felt this strange urge to look, a very curious look. He could tell that no one seemed to be around. The moment Klonoa was able to get close.
Klonoa: Hey there little guy, I've never seen anything like you before. Are you perhaps lost?
The little creature looks at him, it chirped happily, and decided to lead the way down the hallway.
Klonoa: You want me to fallow? I don't know, my brother Aero wouldn't like it if I was gone for too long. He can get worried if I don't tell him where i'm going.
The creature seemed to understand, nodded as it continued to lead. With Klonoa looking back, nodding to himself, as if saying he won't be gone for long, fallowing after. Little did he know, someone had seen him walk into the alleyway. Aero had returned and was able to finish up with what he needed to do, as he looks for Klonoa.
Aero: Whew that took a lot longer then needed, I mean how long does someone need to take to return some movies? Klonoa i'm done, we can go check out that board you've wanted me to get you! Klonoa? Huh that's weird, maybe he's busy with his own shopping.
Meanwhile with Klonoa, he was fallowing after the little bird creature, if he was little then this would've made him very uneasy, and wouldn't want to go unless he was with someone. But he's faced many dangers before so he should be ok. As they make it to the end, he was greeted by what looked to be some kind of old theater. The outside looked to be ancient, but there was something about it that lured him in. It had a sign on top that glowed in many colors, that spelled out WONDERWORLD. There was even a promotional sign on the ground, it had a night sky with e lit up city, and a mysterious looking figure in the center. The tiny, bird-like creature continued to lead the way, going inside through the slightly opened door. Klonoa looked around, and there wasn't anything strange, thus he opened the door, and headed inside.
Klonoa: Woah!
Inside was a beautiful looking entrance, despite it being a bit dusty. There were posters of different kinds of plays, the floor was like a mirror and was reflecting his image, there were golden bits and a luxurious carpet and even diamond covered chandeliers.
Klonoa: This theater looked old on the outside, but here, it looks very well kept. But why does this remind me of Joilant? Mainly the creepy fun house?
He wasn't that nervious, rather more curious and wanting to check it out. He could see the same bird creature call to him, and he fallows over.
Klonoa: Hey wait up!
He was lead to the main theater area, and it was very big, with a massive stage and crimson curtains draped. He was awed by the size and scale of it. Klonoa then could hear something, it sounded like a soothing tune, something inside of him was telling him to fallow it. The tune was coming from a grand piano being played. A calm yet mysterious song. It almost sounded inviting. As he got closer, he could see someone was playing it.
Klonoa:-Wow they're really good. . .Maybe I came at bad time. I should probably go before I get into trouble-
He was about to turn around, when all the sudden, the music stopped and the person spoke, which startled the cabbit. Laughter sounded off from the stranger.
?: Why, hello there, little boy!
Klonoa: Manya!
This startled Klonoa, the voice sounded like the ghost butler he and his friends encountered within Joilant. Even if they didn't hurt him or his friends, he was cautious. It also did not help that the lighting by the piano was somewhat dark so he couldn't tell what this figure looked like.
Klonoa: If you're that ghost butler who scared Lolo, well it isn't working on me!
He had his wind ring at the ready, there was an energy source here to help power it. He would only use it if there was a threat.
?: Oh my apologies, I'd like to give my guests a first taste into meetings. Please give me one moment.
The stranger snapped their fingers and the stage lights came on, and what stood in front of the dream traveler, was a tall humanoid being in a white suit with red accents and golden rim, along with a white tophat covering green dreadlocks. Through the hat, large yellowish golden ringed eyes could be seen, while beneath it was a wide, toothy grin.
?: Anyways I beg your pardon, but I do not understand your ploy... still, welcome to my theater!
From the palm of his hand, that same puffy creature appeared. Klonoa could see that it was in his hand, and was given it. He was taken aback by this strange looking maestro. In fact this first encounter was different, he wasn't asleep. So he couldn't have been dream traveling.
Klonoa: W-what's going on? Who are you?
Balan: Oh! My apologies! My name is Balan! Maestro of this theater, and, as some call me, Maestro of Mystery.
Klonoa: Maestro of mystery? So are you like the owner of this theater? I'm sorry if I came in at a bad time.
He was hesitant, sure this maestro did appear friendly and had no ill intentions on harming him. Yet there was something about him made the cabbit feel unnerve. Those with big grins, have always made him very wary.
Balan: Why, yes I am! Such a smart boy! Yet something tells me that your heart has diverted from joy.
Klonoa: My. . .heart? No joy? I don't get what you mean. I'm a dream traveler, a hero.
Hearing this it was clear that he wasn't scared, but something about this maestro's tone made it seem like he could be up to something. Yet Balan did not at all come off as someone who had any bad ones, rather this one was a bit of the opposite for the young cabbit boy.
Balan: Hm... a hero already at such a young age? Just the one we need for an adventure on stage!
At really high speed, he does some cleaning up and sets up a chair for him. Klonoa was taken aback, giving how quickly the maestro went, he really didn't see that coming.
Klonoa: Woah!-Ok this guy is what he says, but what is he even up to? Also if he can clean all of this in no time, , , Man I know Aero's been telling me to clean mine a lot, , ,I should probably do that after this is over.-
Balan: It's... showtime!
With a snap of his fingers, lights come on and aim at the stage, where he's standing with a pose. Klonoa could see the spotlight on the maestro, as he does the opening show. Creating duplicates of himself that served as backup dancers, using his magic to summon fountains of rainbows as well as beautiful sets. Klonoa had to admit, it was probably the best opening he's seen in sometime. It drew him into how it was played out, as Balan made use of his magic. The dream traveler was then whisked away by some kind of magical force, something even he couldn't understand. However he left, he could've sworn he had just seen another figure. One who was surrounded in shadow, standing and watching. The only clear thing he could see, were their eyes. Before the show was over, and he was a bit dizzy.
Klonoa: Woah woah woah ha ha ha ha! that was, very. . .fun! I hadn't had that much fun in awhile!
Balan simply laughed a little, delighted by that.
Balan: Why thankyou my little friend. It pleases me to hear that my opening act put you in a much brighter mood.
Klonoa: Say Balan, who was that, in the shadows?
He pointed over to where the darker part of the stage was, but there was no one there. However a presents could be felt. The light maestro knew that, but wanted to reassured the wind hero it was fine.
Balan: Ah, never you mind that. At least for now. The state of your heart is what matters, anyhow.
Klonoa: Oh um ok?
This was when a door appears so suddenly, and Balan smiled at this. And to Klonoa this was something new, something inviting.
Klonoa: What's this door about?
Balan: Would you like to find out?
He says while offering his hand, giving him a bright smile. This helped ease Klonoa's nerves as he takes it and they both enter.
