ANDEN
Being the Republic's elector isn't easy. Being hated by your senator's isn't easy. Losing your father isn't easy. But they are bearable. Losing the only person that understood you however, that is a whole different story.
Day doesn't like me, I'm stood beside June's coffin and can see him staring at me with his brother at his side. More glaring than staring honestly. I want to go over and punch him, I know it's wrong but I need someone to be mad at. Someone to blame for all the problems in my life. Day is loved by the Republic. He makes me appear weak which only worsens my relationships with my senators. June loved him with all her heart, leaving me behind. I know I have no hold over June's life and her decisions, but all I want is to tell her to come with me to some faraway place where we can be happy. I need to stop talking like she's still here. I need to face reality. So instead of punching Day, I go over and greet him, like any other gentleman would.
"Day so nice to see you, if only it was under better circumstances." I say with a smile plastered across my face and my hand held out.
"Nice to see you to Elector," he replies, shaking my hand "You remember my brother Eden." He says looking down at his brother.
I know he is trying to guilt me. He's silently blaming me for his brother's visual impairments which are a result of frequent tests while he was under Republic military care.
"How could I forget, how are you doing Eden." I bend down to his height.
"Good thank you Elector." he says with a bow "Are you the man who kissed June?"
"Eden, use your manners. The Elector should be spoken to with respect, remember."
I didn't think June would have told Day about that.
"It's ok Day really, I should apologise for that, I've never had the chance." I say with a small tilt of my head.
"It's in the past yeah, we need to move on."
His tone is kind, but his face is a whole other story.
He seems to soften when a girl with dusty mid length blonde hair walks in.
