Will hopped out of the car in front of Barbara's apartment complex, he was nervous. The building was big and white. It seemed pretty nice for someone with just a cop dad. Way nicer than his, anyways. It was also on one of the better sides of town. He wouldn't really have to keep his head on a swivel out here.
Will was itching to smoke, but he didn't want to smell too smoky right now. He adjusted his black vest and realized he probably should be wearing more clothes. He combed his hair over with his fingers and quickly ascended to apartment 3004. Once he got up, he took a deep breath and knocked on the door. He waited a few minutes and turned to get ready to go, feeling stupid. He heard the door unlock, and a beautiful red-haired girl in a wheelchair with a green t-shirt and tight jeans opened the door. Will's eyes went wide when he saw her. She looked good.
"Oh Will, you actually came." She said, her eyes roaming his body.
"Of course I did, what kind of question is that?" He asked and stepped inside.
The inside was a nice middle-class apartment. It seemed pretty comfortable, much nicer than his own, anyways.
"Is your dad here?" He asked.
"No, he's busy trying to find the guy who blew up that warehouse." She said, looking at him angrily.
Will tsked, "You know about that?"
"Of course, I know about it. You did it right in front of Tim and Stephanie." She said
Will scratched his head ashamed of himself, "Yeah, sorry about that I haven't really been myself since…. the watchtower."
"Well, can you..." Will could no longer hear what she was saying. He was mesmerized by her.
So, he did the only thing he could think of doing. He squatted down to her level, grabbed her chin, and kissed her. Instantly, he felt relief for the first time since acquiring the wrath mark. he wasn't angry anymore; no longer did he have that feeling of wanting to murder everything around him. He felt his lips press into hers. At first, she tried to reject the kiss and push him away, but Will was way too strong to be moved. He figured he only gets one shot here, might as well get his money's worth.
She didn't fight him for long and ran her hands along his bare chest, up his neck, and caressed his face. Right now, it was just the two of them alone in an apartment. Will felt the strong urge of wanting more, but he held himself back. He pressed his hands into her thighs, caressing them, and then broke the kiss. He pressed his forehead into hers and smiled the brightest smile he had shown in a while. She pulled him back in, and he picked her up out of her wheelchair and moved her to the couch. Her muscular thighs straddling him. He ran his hands along her legs and cupped her firm butt. He pulled away and kissed her neck, if things continued this way, he wouldn't be able to stop himself. He bit her lip, and she ran her hands along his abs.
"Wait." She said.
Will stopped, his head buried in her hair. She smelled sweet like strawberries. He didn't know if it was her shampoo or perfume or what, but he loved the smell. He breathed heavily on her neck.
"I uh, don't go too far okay I've not really done this before or anything." She said, an embarrassed look on her face.
Will raised an eyebrow, "Wait for real?" He asked suspiciously.
"Well yeah, I mostly spend all my time after school with Batman and them, I don't really have much of a life outside of that and school." She said.
"Oh… okay. I won't go too far then." Will said as he ran his fingers up her waist, gripping her toned stomach on both sides.
"Do you think you could tell me what's going on now?" she asked innocently. her green eyes staring into his.
Will bit his lip, "Yeah I suppose, you remember the tattoo, right? The one that says demon on my back."
"Yeah, why?" She asked
"Well, it's not just a tattoo." He said
"What do you mean?" She asked, sitting up a bit straighter and pressing her body into his lap.
"I forgot to ask, is sitting like that uncomfortable with your casts?" Will asked
Her face went bright red, "Uh yeah, a little."
Will picked her up and adjusted her with her back to him. She had her legs stretched out on the couch. Will wrapped his arms around her chest and placed his chin on her shoulder.
Will proceeded to tell her the story of what happened since he got nearly beaten to death by Grundy. Telling her about the part where he saved the Justice League, was branded with the wrath mark, the effects it had on him, headbutting Dick, and then whatever happened at school that day. The rest he left out because he didn't want to tell her.
"So, there's a demon living in the tattoo and he's trying to wrestle control from you?" She asked
"I suppose you could say it's something like that, he's not the most troublesome thing though. It's the damn wrath mark, it has made things… difficult." He said
"Well, you don't seem too angry right now." She said
Will snorted, "Yeah, I haven't been angry since I walked into your apartment. Honestly, this is the most rational I've thought in a while." He said
She turned her body so she could look at him with her bright green eyes, "So are you going to come back?" She asked him.
Will smiled wryly, "Will they even let me?" He asked
"Yes! Absolutely I'm sure Batman knows you haven't been yourself recently." She said with a pleading look on her face.
Will looked down and sighed, "I suppose, as long as they don't directly lock me up or something. Also, I need to take care of some stuff in Metropolis first." he said.
"Wait seriously!" She said happily, and she flipped over on top of him and pressed her lips onto his cheek.
"Oof. Yeah, I suppose, should nothing crazy come up." He said smiling.
"Anyways, when can I see you again if I am not able to return to the Justice League's side?" He asked.
She bit her finger and said, "First off, don't talk like you won't be able to. You will, second… as soon as you get back. Maybe next time actually take me on a date though." She said, smiling.
He rolled his eyes, "I've actually never been on a real date before. You will have to show me how." He said looking embarrassed.
"Well, then what did you and Ravager do then?" She asked curiously.
Will began coughing, and his face turned bright red, "Nothing much." He said.
"What does nothing much even mean?" She asked suspiciously.
Ding! Will got a text message, "Hold up Barbara." He said as he checked his phone.
"Trucks are ready to move out. Once you get to Metropolis, I hooked you up with a nice room at the Lexington. The regular goons will just be at some random motel. Get moving quickly. The deal goes down two days from now. Enjoy yourself, some time away from Gotham will do you good." Penguin sent
"Who was that?" She asked
"Penguin, sorry I got to go." He said
He gently slid out from underneath Barb and wheeled her wheelchair over to her so she could get it later.
"Bye Barb, I'll see you soon." He said as he walked out of the Apartment, wondering if what she said was really the truth. Could he really go back? Anyways, he'd pick up a nice bounty in Metropolis and earn some extra cash. He needed a lot more money if he wanted to get anywhere in this world.
[Barbara Gordon Pov]
"That did not just happen." She thought to herself, her face beet red she was excited for the future. She was afraid though, if he continued going down the road he had been she didn't know how she could possibly be with him.
"He's not too far gone yet," she thought to herself.
"I need to tell someone about this." She said as she called up Kara.
