Author's Note: Alright now that all that's out of the way let's start this book! P.s. This first chapter is in Maggie's POV

My eyes drift towards the shattering blue of my iris which was like an ocean of sadness. Ever since that child abduction case I hadn't felt quite the same. I mean, I was the same but it was like I was watching myself from another dimension. That isn't even possible Maggie. I startle at the sound of my phone ringing, pulling me out of my trance as 'You're on Your own, kid.' By Taylor Swift played.

"Maggie Doyle."

My voice sounded husky as in I've been crying, I mean I was crying but I didn't want other people to know that. Police officers don't cry. Maggie Doyle doesn't cry.

"Mags. Your late. Is everything alright?"

His voice always did things to me that I couldn't explain. It was like butterflies but deeper down.

"Oh my god. I'm late. Am I in trouble?"

Shit. I'm late.

"No. We are just worried about you, you're never late. Ever since that case..."

His voice trails off. I can tell his mind is wondering back to that beautiful young girl lying bloodied and bruised, blood trickling down her thighs and semen dripping out of her most private part. She was only five and her father had decided to do something horrid to her...

"I'll be in soon. I just need to have a shower. I'm sorry."

I clicked the unmistakable red button and made my way to the shower. It was going to be a long day...

Author's Note: Sorry about the short chapter!! I NEVER normally do that but I'm just rlly tired. I'm working on the second chapter rn! Feedback will be greatly appreciated!
