The legalities: I do not own any of the Expendables franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au.Rated M just to be on the safe side.
Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!

Prompt: "Is this one of those times when you want me to lie to protect your delicate emotions?"
Jacoba hated being put in the middle of relationship squabbles. Being the only woman on the team (and Lacey's best friend) meant that she was usually pulled into these situations to mediate, especially between Lee and Lacey. Right now, she was attempting to not roll her eyes as Lacey continued to complain about another little transgression that Lee did. She also was trying to not look over at Gunnar, who she knew could hear everything being said from his spot on the other side of the room and wasn't doing well with holding in his chuckles.
"Can you even believe that he would do something like that?"
"Lacey," Jacoba put her hand to her head, just barely holding herself back from pinching the bridge of her nose. "Could you please just say that again, but slower so that it sinks in for you?"
"What do you mean? Wait, have you even been listening to what I've been saying? I mean, I would expect something from Lee but not you, Jacoba!"
Jacoba sat up and looked straight into Lacey's eyes. "Is this one of those times when you want me to lie to protect your delicate emotions? No offense, Lace, but I've been listening to you for the last three hours and was listening to Lee until about 3 this morning and I still have no idea why you two are even fighting." Standing up, she looked back down at her best friend, who had a look of complete bafflement on her face. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I need a nap before I say something I'm going to regret later."
Turning away, Jacoba quickly walked over to Gunnar, who was already standing up with a hand out. Taking his hand, she led them up to her room at Tool's, flopping herself down on the bed with a groan before looking back up at the Swede.
"She hates me, doesn't she?"
Gunnar scoffed. "I doubt she really hates you. Though I do think that you may have shocked her some."
It was Jacoba's turn to scoff as Gunnar laid down next to her. Turning into him, she sighed and fell asleep listening to Gunnar's breath and heartbeat.
