Okay this AN is a bit of an explanation. I have pre-written quite a few of my prompts already; in fact, the first maybe 10 prompts were written over 5 years ago and I just went through and rephrased some things before I started writing more again. As of right now, including those I have already posted, I have fully written 62 prompts and 3 interludes, and have 1 more started. Recently, so that I can keep track of plot ideas for each prompt, I've made a document detailing such. Which, in hindsight, may have been a bad idea because I have come up with plot ideas for 25 more of the prompts. For reference, I have a total of 150 pre-selected prompts that I want to write one-shots for. Well, and the interludes, but those just come up whenever the plot gremlins decide to strike. Sorry for the long note, but this was more for my piece of mind than anything else. Whew, I'm better now.
Forewarning, there is one big swear in this one-shot.
The legalities: I do not own any of the Expendables franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au.Rated M just to be on the safe side.
Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!
Hope you enjoy!
Prompt: "You scared me!"
"Well, I am naturally terrifying."
There were many words that the Expendables had to describe Lacey, thought the one that came up quite often was easily startled. Whether it was someone (mostly Lee) coming up behind her without her knowledge or really any loud noise, Lacey would just about jump right out her skin.
She always tried to get back at them whenever she could, though. It didn't always work out for her, but at least she tried.
In fact, the only person that she could consistently (sometimes) get one over on was actually Jacoba. Even then, Jacoba had to be super focused on what she was doing or wildly distracted for Lacey to be able to do so. It didn't happen very often, but they were all very amused when it did. Well, not Jacoba, but that was beside the point.
Take a couple of days ago. Jacoba was back at the desk that they had set up for her at Tool's Tattoo Shop, working, once again, on the backlog of paperwork from both the shop and the Expendables. She was grumbling under her breath, and if one were to come close enough to hear her cussing Tool out over her current predicament.
She was so caught up in what she was doing that she, for once, didn't hear the door open and close. Lacey quietly (for once) came into the backroom, looking for Jacoba so they could go and get her a new outfit for her date with Gunnar later that night. Once she located her best friend at her desk, Lacey got an evil smirk on her face as she began to sneak over there, keeping very quiet until she was directly in front of Jacoba.
"What are you doing?"
Jacoba seemed to jump out of her skin, looking up to glare at her best friend. "What the fuck, Lacey?"
Lacey just smirked. "I was only asking you a question."
"You scared me!"
"Well, I am naturally terrifying." Lacey shrugged before looking down at the papers covering the desk surface. "You ready for a break to get your outfit?"
"Oh god, yes. Let's go."
"Wait, you're going to just leave your desk like that?"
Jacoba turned to her and shrugged. "It'll keep. Let's go, oh terrifying one." Linking her arm with Lacey's, Jacoba steered the now laughing woman toward the door.
