Another in the upgrade plot line! I think of this as possibly the first in that plot line, but read it how you wish.

The legalities: I do not own any of the Expendables franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au.Rated M just to be on the safe side.

Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!

Hope you enjoy!

Prompt: "I think I broke him."

"Hey, little brother."

"Can't talk right now, big sister. I'm almost finished with this awesome upgrade."

Jacoba rolled her eyes from where she was leaning against the door-jam into the room that Thorn had named "The Hub." She had told Barney that making the (now former) junk room just off the main hanger into a workroom for Thorn to use when they didn't have a mission going on would be an extremely bad idea. Low and behold, she had been right. More often than not, Jacoba would get an alert on her phone to go an get him because he had gotten wrapped up in whatever project that he was currently working on. The fact that she had even had to install hidden cameras to monitor him and alert her if he had been in there for twenty-four hours without sleep was not a good thing in her opinion. Straightening up, Jacoba walked in and over towards him, squatting next to him as he continued to work.

"Thorn."

"Busy!"

"Look at me, young man!" That got Thorn to look at her immediately, still holding his project, but not fiddling with it anymore. Jacoba sighed before reaching out and gently removing the project from his hands as she gentled her tone. "Bro, I love you, but you need to take a week or so and actually take care of yourself. I know you are just attempting to help us stay safe, but if you don't get some rest, you will just be a liability when we need to go out on a mission. Putting us in more danger instead of keeping us safe."

Thorn just gave her a blank look as she gently put the upgrade on the table in front of him. Sighing, Jacoba looked up towards the ceiling before catching movement in the corner of her eye. Turning her head slightly, she caught sight Gunnar trying (and failing) to not chuckle at her current predicament.

"I'm guessing we're making him occupy our guest room tonight?"

Jacoba sighed again as she slowly stood up, refocusing her attention on Thorn as she did so. "Yea, that would be the best choice. Besides, I think that I broke him."

Gunnar scoffed as he came to stand by her. "No, doll. I'm fairly certain that he broke himself." Gunnar then reached forward and poke the hacker. "Come on, man. Let's go."

Between the two (functioning) members of the Expendables, they were able to shepherd the hacker to Gunnar's truck and onto the road. Jacoba just shook her head. Her family was rather weird.
