This is a story to follow the prompt I entitled Chemical, yes, Engineer, maybe. Or whatever I named it; I think I accidentally changed it when I named the document. Whoops.
The legalities: I do not own any of the Expendables franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au.Rated M just to be on the safe side.
Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!
Hope you enjoy!
Prompt: "You love her, don't you?"
"Was it that obvious?"
Barney Ross smirked as he turned to look back into the main part of his plane. He and Lee Christmas had been a bit worried earlier during the mission when neither of them could get Gunnar Jensen or Jacoba Dixie Kooper on comms for a while. That had ended not long after when they heard an explosion come from somewhere farther inside, followed by them hearing both Gunnar and Jacoba coughing and chuckling through the comms. Both made it out quickly after that, meeting up with Lee and Barney as soon as they could and heading to the plane.
Now, they were almost home, Lee still sitting beside him in the co-pilot seat and Gunnar and Jacoba had sequestered themselves to opposite sides of the rest of the plane, or so he had thought. What he found when he looked back, however, showed that that thought had been incorrect. Jacoba was laying down on her back with her head on Gunnar's lap, looking up and talking with him. He was looking back down at her, engaging right back with her, with a look of great admiration on his face. Shaking his head, Barney called out to them. "Hey you two, we're about two minutes out. Get ready."
"You got it, boss."
After they had landed and Jacoba and Lee waved goodbye and left, Barney held Gunnar back under the pretenses of helping to unload the plane. As they did so, Barney looked over at his good friend and shook his head at him. "You love her, don't you?"
Gunnar jolted, looking quickly at Barney, who just looked at him with his eyebrow raised for a moment before going back to the job at hand. He heard the Viking fumbling over his words for a few minutes before he heard a sigh from the big man. "Was it that obvious?"
Barney scoffed as he looked back at Gunnar, who was now looking like a man resigned to his fate, causing Barney to begin chuckling. "Not to people who aren't really looking. Don't worry, I don't think that the Amazon has noticed as of yet. But I wouldn't put it past her to figure it out soon thought, since you know how smart she is."
Gunnar smirked this time. "Yeah, she is. Come on, Barn, let's get this done. I need some sleep."
