Liang Province Rebellion
"So as you can see, we're dealing with practically flat terrain, so these scum have the clear advantage." Dong Zhuo grumbled. "Their cavalry can easily outflank us and there's no where to hide to set an ambush."
He stood with Sun Jian, Zhang Wen and Sun Jian's retainers in the main camp Dong Zhuo had set up, gathered around a map of the surrounding area. Sun Jian noted their main camp marked on the map as well as what appeared to be another camp, the enemies based on its position. He noted two other camps marked down and the edge of a city behind the enemy lines.
"What are these two camps?" He asked.
Dong Zhuo sighed and explained. "Other enemy camps, the only hills in this area and the enemy has already claimed them, having the high ground, making their cavalry even more dangerous."
Zhang Wen pondered. "So, if they have their cavalry stations there, it stands to reason...that's where Han Sui and Ma Teng will be, they are known around Liang for their horsemen."
"So that scum Bian Zhang is in that main camp." Dong Zhuo spat. "Of course they'll get reinforcements from Wuwei there."
He noted the edge of the city as he said that, identifying it. There was a pause and then, finally, Cheng Pu spoke up.
"It is a problem, but even the enemy would have to sleep sometime...we could attempt a night raid."
Dong Zhuo scoffed but before he could say anything, Sun Jian smiled.
"That is a sound plan, Cheng Pu." He remarked. "A night raid would catch the enemy off guard and their cavalry won't be as effective in such close confines."
"That's true, that's very true." Zhang Wen murmured. "Very well, Sun Jian, you and your men can take on this night raid. Dong Zhuo, you and I can then be ready at dawn to take down Bian Zhang."
They all nodded and bowed, Dong Zhuo reluctantly.
So it was, late at night, having begun creeping up the hills the moment the sun had set while keeping quiet and as out of sight as possible, Sun Jian and Cheng Pu had reached the rear of one of the hill camps. They all had their weapons drawn and Cheng Pu whispered.
"This is it my Lord, I just hope Huang Gai and Han Dang are already in position." He admitted. "This'll go much smoother if we attack simultaneously."
"I agree, but have faith, I'm sure it will work...I'm also sure that it may be possible to bring something of a clean conclusion to this rebellion too." Sun Jian explained.
Cheng Pu sighed. "That may be a mere dream, my Lord. Bian Zhang will never-"
Sun Jian smirked. "I wasn't talking about Bian Zhang."
That was when Cheng Pu realized but there was no time as they then got the signal, it was time. With shouts they charged into the camp, leaving the rebels in disarray as they tried to grab weapons, get their horses, anything. But it wasn't working out for them, while their men fought hard and vicious, Sun Jian and Cheng Pu took down the troops nearest the stables.
"My Lord, I've got a plan." Cheng Pu smirked.
Sun Jian nodded. "Do it, I see Ma Teng, leave him to me."
Cheng Pu nodded and Sun Jian charged Ma Teng, the two of them clashing until panic truly set in on the rebels after Cheng Pu let the horses loose. It was then they decided they'd done enough damage and hurried back to their main camp.

It turned out Huang Gai and Han Dang had just as much success and even the same plan. They had suffered minimal losses and had regrouped back at the main camp as the sun rose.
"What is all this!?" Dong Zhuo cried out. "You were to eliminate them!"
"We're not here to murder people, we're here to bring this rebellion to an end." Sun Jian countered.
Before Dong Zhuo could protest, Zhang Wen interceded.
"Dong Zhuo, Sun Jian is right." He warned. "It doesn't engender peace to cut your way to resolution. It is better to win back the hearts of those who rebelled, otherwise you simply sow the seeds for further rebellion."
Dong Zhuo growled but stomped off. Zhang Wen turned to the Sun warriors and smiled.
"Excellent, no matter how trained they are, the warriors of Liang are herdsmen first and foremost." He noted. "Setting their horses free has made them scatter to reclaim them and no doubt Ma Teng and Han Sui will cut their loses and return to Wuwei."
Sun Jian nodded and smirked. "That was exactly the plan, now Bian Zhang is vulnerable."
Zhang Wen nodded. "Yes, well, I better get started and better ensure Dong Zhuo plays his part."
With that he left and Sun Jian and his forces set up their own camp and rested, while Zhang Wen and Dong Zhuo charged out to attack Bian Zhang's forces.

Dong Zhuo was in a good mood after the battle, it had gone well for the Han Forces and Bian Zhang had also fled back to Wuwei.
"Excellent, we can't fail now." He bragged. "Those fools have been sent off with their tails between their legs, one more push and we'll easily crush them."
Zhang Wen shook his head. "It may not be necessary for that, regardless, we-"
"Oh enough. You know that view will only cause more trouble, I'm the only one who wants to end this rebellion it seems, now-"
But soon Dong Zhuo, ironically after cutting off Zhang Wen, was cut off himself by the arrival of an Imperial Messenger.
"Excuse me, I have an important message to deliver." The man announced as he entered the tent.
Dong Zhuo turned angrily. "You can just, oh."
He stopped himself, eyes widening as he saw the man's garb, he was no mere messenger, but one sent by the Emperor himself.
"What message do you bring, sir?" Zhang Wen greeted the man respectively.
The messenger bowed and then announced. "The Emperor has a new plan for dealing with another issue, he requires the aid of Master Sun Jian, so he and his forces are to be recalled to the capital, he entrusts the suppression of the Liang Province Rebellion to you."
This surprised them all, but it was a direct order from the Emperor, so they dare not refuses. Although Dong Zhuo certainly did a lot of grumbling about it, nevertheless Sun Jian and his men quickly packed up and began their march back to the capital.
