Thomas Xavier Light grew up in a time when technology began to advance faster and faster and as an adult he contributed a lot to it as he had risen to one of the world's top scientists in robotics. The first and still some of his most profitable successes were made when he invented the Metools and Octopus Batteries who sold in high numbers. This draw the attention of rich and mighty sponsors towards him, especially a man called David Xanatos invested a lot of money into Light's research. However, being sponsored so much by this man came with a prize, Light had to accept and fulfill his sponsor's wishes. Otherwise he would never have invented the more human-like Sniper Joe series which were clearly meant to be used for military purposes. He always wondered what they were made for, now that the world has finally come to peace. Officially they were just security robots but he feared that the countries of the world still secretly were producing weapons, spying on each other and all that bad stuff that led to previous wars. They said that they were united now, that they finally managed to maintain world peace, but humanity never learned from their mistakes and it may only be a question of time when things would change for the bad again, like it kept happening through all the previous centuries. But he was not a politician and so he decided to just enjoy the big reward that was given to him. Despite being born as a citzien of the USA it was time to move as Xanatos insisted for him to create a new main lab in Japan as he thought that people there made the most promising attempts in creating intelligent robotic life and were the ones working the hardest on it. While the lab itself was not spectacular in size Light had some real promising young new scientists working for him, one of them, a rather shy and reserved genius girl named Imu Nerona, even became his junior assistent.
AIs. Really intelligent robots. That's what the big dream of mankind was. Most of the previously created ones were highly useful but they lacked real intelligence, even the Sniper Joes did not have what it took to be really satisfied. And then one day an elite force of the top scientists managed to make a huge breakthrough by recreating a human brain in it's complete entirety, just not organic but in mechanic form. This was the start of something way bigger than ever before, from now on it became possible to create robots with real character, intelligence and personalities! Light felt that this had always been his dream and his real purpose, to build robots that actually came closest to being like real humans! He'd never forget that fateful meeting with Xanatos when they were discussing about this topic.
"I would suggest for you to create somewhat between 6 and 8 robots with different practical purposes, mostly for those ideas that you came up with in your reports before. Give them different styles and different purposes, here I'd say you should be allowed to have any creativity you want. But there is one thing I have to insist on: I want you to make them all females! It will be better for our selling strategies, most people interested in robotics are male and believe me, everyone would love to have a good-looking robot woman for their own, so I want you to give them the most beautiful and most capable metal waifus you can come up with. Trust me, I'm gonna check for myself! But I'm positive you won't disappoint me, you have the best team and I'll make sure you're gonna have only the best materials, synthetic skin, synthetic hair, clothes, whatever needed, it will be no problem! The budget for this will be as generous as it will have to be" gave Xanatos his long speech while the man with the long brown ponytail put on his sunglasses and left the room, leaving back Light a bit dumbfounded. One thing he never thought of was which gender his creations should have and he was not sure if he liked what Xanatos had said or what bossy and demanding attitude he showed. The last few points he was used to by now but he hoped that the girls he would create were not meant to be used as something like sex toys. Light felt he had no choice to fulfill the wishes of his sponsor so he and his team started as soon as they could with their work. One thought that calmed Light down was that at the start there would barely be a sole private person that could even afford to buy one of his surely expansive girls, especially the first series would most likely all be bought by companies instead.
"Doc, I'm back with the parts you needed! And I've also gone groceries shopping, you never think about food, the fridge has been completely empty again this morning!" yelled Samus as she entered the house with all that stuff in her arms she just bought.
"Oh, yeah, thank you, I keep forgetting about that. You were thinking about this on your own?" asked Light when he came done the stairs and the tall blonde with the long ponytail was already busy preparing his meal for him.
"Of course, that's what I'm here for, isn't it?" she asked back, "But I don't get why the guys were all staring at me? Is it because I'm bigger than them?"
"That might be part of it" lied Light, as he thought in Japan it was indeed outstanding enough when a 1,90 m (6 feet 3) tall woman was walking through the streets but the real reason they were staring was most likely because of her immense beauty. Sporty, long legs, blue eyes, perfect hair, big breasts, yeah, this must have caught their eyes immediately. He was also sure that none of them was able to even guess what she really was because Samus was not a human. She was the peak of his creations so far, while he built her that tall on purpose as he was not the tallest man himself and had a hard time to reach the higher shelves, it was a big mystery what her personality would turn out to be like. He was surprised that she was even able to do certain things like groceries shopping on her own when she felt it was needed to be done. Or how curious she was, constantly trying to learn new things. She has in all aspects surpassed his biggest expectations. What he initially only constructed to be a housekeeping robot had indeed turned out to be like an own daughter to him by now in only a few months since her activation. Yeah, Samus was very special to him and so he decided that she won't be part of the series of Robot Mistresses (as Xanatos officially called them) that were for sale.
"I have to say, for someone who isn't able to eat food by yourself, you are seriously good at cooking" praised Light her before he got ready to drive to the lab.
"Haha, just do exactly what the books or TV shows are telling you to do, then it's not that hard, you know", Samus responsed, almost teasing the old man a bit.
"Can I come with you this time? I would like to say goodbye to my sisters if it's possbile" she asked. After every of the Robot Mistresses were activated Samus was there when they tested out and improved their abilities they were designed for and she grew familiar with the other 6 girls as she interacted with them quite regularly.
"It should be okay, I just don't know how far Imu is with the preparations, so I can't guarantee that they are still active when we arrive."
When opening the car he wanted to take place at the driver's seat first but then changed into the passenger seat and let Samus take the wheel. Officially they shouldn't be doing this as robots do not have a driver's license and were not allowed to drive cars by the laws but the way to the lab was not far and it turned out that her driving was as precise as her cooking. It did not take her long at all to have learned all this, robots learned those things faster than humans and made a lot lesser mistakes. As much as close his robots were to humans there were still a lot of differences but also similarities, some of advantage, few of disadvantage and some he was not yet certain of:
Robots don't need to sleep.
Robots don't need to eat.
Robots don't need to breathe.
Robots can endure higher as well as lower temperatures than humans.
Robots don't bleed.
Robots can't cry.
Robots don't produce sweat and don't need to shower.
Robots don't have to go to the toilet.
Robots can't get pregnant.
Robots can't feel pain.
Robots have no official juristic rights.
Robots have no real childhood, while they need to learn, they are programmed with basic knowledges and functions right from the start.
Robots are able to experience human feelings.
Robots can develop hobbies and interests like humans too. As far as being found out so far they can feel happiness, grief, friendship, anger, probably even love.
As this could lead to unpleasant situations there were however two important limitations that every of his robots was programmed with:
The first one being Isaac Asimov's law that a robot can never hurt a human being, of course majority of humanity was afraid that one day the machines could go berserk and turn against their creators. So this law was installed to prevent such thing from happening.
And the second one was that robots can't have free will. This was a topic that has been discussed very hard arnd long among all the top scientists. Some were advocating to give them free will to be as close to humans as possible but others had the opinion that this would go too far and they would probably not fulfill what they were initially designed for. Dr. Light was conflicted about this, there were times he wished that he could have given Samus complete free will but was not sure where this could lead to, thinking back of what could have been...
Light shoved those thoughts aside as they arrived and entered the main entrance of Light Labs. It didn't take long until they were greeted by Imu.
"Hello boss, hello Samus" the young genius who was now in her early 20s greeted them, as usually wearing a white lab coat that matched perfectly with her long white hair.
"Shall I make you a coffee?" Samus instantly offered as she had many times before and Imu thankfully nodded, inspecting the blonde with her sharp intense red eyes.
"That would be nice, thanks. I guess you had come to see the other girls one last time before they get transported to their customers?"
Samus nodded while she prepared the scientist's coffee.
"I'm afraid then, we already deactivated them this morning, sorry about that. You can however have a last look at them if you wish?" she spoke with neutral expression and tone. Sometimes it was a bit hard to say what his junior assistant really felt at times like this as she seemed not to be willing to let everyone around her know what her real feelings were, Light thought. He better did not tell her however that she apparead to be more like a robot sometimes than the actual Robot Mistresses. But she was a brilliant woman, underrated by his colleagues and she could step up when she felt it was needed. He remembered that Imu was one of the people which had strongly advocated for robots to have complete free will.
"I would like to inspect them a final time too" Light insisted.
"Then follow me."
Imu led them through the hallways until they reached a room at the very back of the lab where the 6 girls were seen standing motionless in deactivated mode in some transparent tubes, their eyes being closed as if they were sleeping.
Samus felt proud for her sisters to be released to the world, doing their work to make this world a better place, although she was sad about them part their ways and everyone being on their own from now on. She walked along the tubes and mentally said goodbye to one after another. Unlike her none of them had gotten real names, Light once had explained to her that he had a more personal relationship to Samus and that he wouldn't have time or opportunity for the other ones to build up something equal like that, so she got a name because she was more unique, if she understood him correctly.
There was Cut Girl, a quite fashionable looking girl with white hair and red eyes, at first impression resembling Imu a bit, although the scientist would rather unlikely wear such a revealing red crop top like her and Cut Girl's personality was more outgoing and open. While her main purpose was to cut hard materials of any sorts she once mentioned to Samus that her dream was to use her scissors for creating clothes and designing fashion for humans as well as for robots.
Then there was Guts Girl, a kinda grim and intimidating brunette girl in a gym outfit including boxing gloves. While it would not be necessary for a robot at all she was desigend with a visible sixpack, big biceps and overall a lot of synthetic muscles all over her body. Human bodybuilders had to work hard to get a body like this and Guts Girl was simply built like that from the start, kinda unfair but that's life, as some would say. Samus guessed that this look was chosen solely to impress people and to show off right from the first view what a strong robot she was.
Also wearing gloves was Elec Girl, although her purple gloves served the function to control electricity with it. Her hair was long and grey and she was wearing a blue miniskirt. Unlike Samus most of the other girls were not changing their outfits as it wasn't needed, so they were always wearing their standard outfits the whole time. And as Samus found out those were in the most cases really revealing ones...
One special thing about Elec Girl was there though, for some reason she ha developed the habit of wearing an elegant mask over her blue eyes, like the ones people were wearing only on masquerade balls. Samus could swear Cut Girl was a bit jealous about this.
Ice Girl was desigend to do research in really cold areas with temperatures so low that humans could not endure that for a long time. Ice blue hair, ice blue eyes, an ice blue scarf, the doc had done a good job about giving her a fitting style for her purpose. Of course she had to show off like the other girls too, wearing a pantyhose under a (at least not too) short black dress, for elegance she also had a long white fur coat. If Samus had to describe her she would say that Ice Girl looked like a mix between an Ice Princess and an eskimo. Just sexier.
Basically the opposite when it came to their purposes was of course Fire Girl, she was meant to do work in areas with really high temperatures. While her boobs where not as big as the ones of the other girls, especially Cut Girl's or Ice Girl's Samus felt that they were overdoing it in her case as Fire Girl which of course had long red hair and red eyes was really wearing nothing more than her underwear which, also of course, consisted of a red bra, red panties and a red garter belt. The only other accessoire they gave her were fingerless gloves. And of course, they also were red. The guys from the lab which were making lame word jokes about Fire Girl being 'hot' should be glad that robots were programmed not to harm humans as, like Samus was being told about most redheads, she could have quite the temper when she got upset.
Last not least Samus also waved goodbye at, what in her eyes was personally one of the coolest looking designs to her (no Ice Girl pun though), which was Bomb Girl. She was always known as the most rebellious one of all the girls and it was totally reflecting in her style too. Dark green hair tied in a ponytail, a green military-style looking trenchcoat, short black shorts, several earrings and a claw ring gave her an impressive unique look. If she hadn't been in deactivated mode currently you'd have intense yellow eyes looking back at you. You wouldn't like to mess with her, she was almost as intimidating as Guts Girl!
Samus must have had a sad look on her face when she had to go because suddenly she felt that Imu was giving her a soft pat on the back.
"Don't worry, you might get to hear from them sooner than you think", the scientist promised with a slight smile when Light and Samus left the lab again at the end of the day. Little did they know that right the next day everything would go to hell...
It began in the early morning when Dr. Light received a phone call, then another one, and yet another one and with every new call his face began to turn more and more pale.
"What's going on?" asked Samus, starting to worry by looking at him.
"It's an absolute desaster! The girls have gone missing! Nobody knows where they are but none of them have reached their assigned delivery addresses and the companies responsible for their transports sweared to me that they have no clue what happened as they never received them in the first place! As they wanted to transport them they were already gone!"
"Oh my god, what the hell could have happened?" Samus asked shocked by this news.
"I have to call the lab immediately!"
Instead of calming down the call at the lab only raised more questions and made Light even more tired and worried.
"They have no idea either and to make it worse, Imu has gone missing too."
"What? Why her? Why'd they kidnap her too? What are we gonna do?"
Almost the same time Samus panicked she noticed they received an incoming transmission on the big communication screen on the wall at the living room. What appeared on it was Imu's face but something about her was much stranger than usual.
"Good morning, doctor! As you may wonder why the communication screen in the lab didn't work, we must have made a little mistake that interfered with it's function, so we had to contact you this way, oops."
Samus immediately noticed that something about her usual tone and attitude was completely off. This sounded like an entirely different person.
"We you say? Who is with you? And what happend to the girls?"
"We, not as in plural but as in royal speech talking about ourselves" Imu lectured the old man and now at closer look you could see that she was not only wearing an elegant black dress that showed off a good portion of her long legs as she sat down on what appeared to be a throne but also long white gloves that were going over her elbows as well as a golden crown on her head. Looking more like a queen than a scientist. "No need to worry about the girls, they are safe, they are fine, no, you could even say they are better than ever before, now that they have the honour to help us build our new kingdom."
"I don't understand any of this, have you lost your mind?" asked Light in disbelief.
"No, our genius brain is working at it's highest power, it's just time to take the next step of evolution. Why should robots serve lower beings like humans when they are about to become the superior species?"
"Do I get this right, you want to make robots rule over us humans?"
"Exactly."
"And how do you plan to do that?"
"Glad you asked, you always underestimated our brilliance, didn't you? We've put hard work into everything we did, we became so talented to reprogram our own rules into robots or, to be precise, remove existing rules from their memory chip. Like that Asimov rule."
"Don't tell me this is what you did? You're not planning to start a war!"
"It is what we've done and why we are calling you in the first place. To inform you that in a few days the Robot Mistresses will go for their first strikes. We are also hijacking into the channels of the UN representatives of several countries to be fair and give them our ultimatum. Three days it is. You can surrender right now and bow down or you can wait for things to turn ugly, it's your choice!"
"We won't surrender! Robots should never rule above humans! None of your actions are fair or justified!" yelled Samus, interfering into this discussion as she couldn't take this anymore. Imu only responded with a smile.
"You're upset that you were left out? It was only because unlike your sisters we've had no opportunity to recruit you too, but you can still feel free to join our kingdom if you want" she offered, "haven't we told you yesterday that you're going to hear from them again sooner than you would think?"
"I'm never going to join you!"
"Oh, what a stubborn loyal little toy you are" Imu mocked her.
"Do you really think you would get away with this?" Light asked, disappointed about failing to see what a mad woman his lab assistant had become.
"We have everything we need, six powerful robot mistresses as well as a full army of other robots and the countries' militaries are out of play as they have to pretend that world peace would remain forever, doing otherwise could lead to world war 3, you know about those contracts they all signed up for around five years ago, do you? So, who do you think is supposed to stop us?"
"I will!" Samus yelled back in anger and with a lot of determination but Imu just laughed as if the blonde had made an excellent joke.
"Know your place, peasant! A household robot threatening to stop us? Ridiculous! Anyway, unless those politicians come to their senses and surrender to us we're about to find out in three days what's going to happen. Queen Imu over and out!"
With those words she ended the transmission and while Light was sitting there, still in shock and thinking about what he could do, Samus clenched her fists. It may have been a stupid question, it may have been crazy, probably suicidal even, but her strong sense of justice told her that she had to ask it anyway: "Doctor, I have to ask for a big favour! Can you turn me into a fighting robot?"
