Kuho town, home of the prestigious Kuho academy. As well as the home of over 1.2 thousand people. Not yet a city, but it couldn't be called small.

This town was home to many types of people, mostly the local Japanese and the Devil's. Yes, Devil's. Specifically the Peerages of Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri.

Yet this town was also home to one of history's greatest fears. The one who welded the title of Overlord!

Said Overlord was face first drooling on his pillow.

This strapping young man with a slender athletic body, long purple hair and velvet eyes was Kurozai Kishi. A descendant of the Third Overlord.

A spirit had corporealized before the sleeping form of Kurozai.

This spirit was The Third Overlord. He still wore the armor he had donned on the day he was trapped in the Abyss. An armor that looked as though it was made from stone and lava.

The spirit raised his left hand and curved it, then twisted his wrist to the right. The gauntlet's stone then created a loud and deafening sound contained within the room.

Waking up startled, Kurozai fell out of his bed. His own armor materializing over his body.

A suit of armor, silver in its color, yet was much more defensible than the flimsy metal. It was a metal known as Minite.

The spirit floated above the frightened form of Kurozai.

The young man sighed and his armor vanished into dust. He stood up and dusted himself off and got ready for the day as he checked off his mental list.

First was a warm shower, followed by a breakfast made by his elder sister, Shirosa Kishi. Once he finished eating he brushed his teeth and got dressed in his school uniform. Finally he slipped his shoes on and left for school.

Sparks flew away from the young man as he walked away. Following these sparks we fly up above the clouds as we see all of Kuho, soon we see the words

OVERLORD DXD

The words soon burn away as we are sent back to Kurozai who had finally entered the front gates of the school.

He stepped past the crowd of male students that had gathered around to watch Rias Gremory and Akeno Himija walk through the school's courtyard.

Kurozai had finally pushed his way out of the crowd and into the main courtyard and sped past the two queens of Kuho.

The two devils in disguise watched the Overlord. They knew exactly what he was. One watched in curiosity and intrigue, the other watched in a strange form of love. The type where you just want to hear their screams of pain.

Finally inside of the main building, Kurozai sighed into his hand as he walked to class.

Walking up to the third floor where all of the third years took their classes he entered class 3-B and sat one row from the back in the row closest to the door.

Sat next to him was Souna Shitori, The President of the student council, and Kurozai's rival of intelligence.

This all started back when the school was opened to all genders at the start of last year. Many of the class's population was still female. While yes, many were smart, none had shined like Souna had.

Then, Kurozai entered the picture. Most of the females had already experienced being stared at by most of the new male population. And they all thought Kurozai was no different.

But Kurozai had shown he was different by shining in his classes. Surprising Teachers, students, and Souna.

Soon enough the two began a rivalry in the classroom. A question would be asked to the class and two hands would shoot up Instantly.

Back to the now however.

The teacher entered the class room and began his lecture.

Half way through the lecture, the students had to open their books and work on problems together as a class.

Today's first topic was that of Medieval history.

"-and that is why we don't use most swords anymore. Bonus points to any student who can tell me what the best use of spears were in those times." He finished. Instantly he sighed and turned around from the board.

No student raised their hand but two.

"Kurozai, I see you're much more eager about this one, tell me then, what was the best use of spears?" The teacher decided. Souna put her hand down with a grimace and watched as Kurozai stood up.

"Spears were used in many applications, however, throwing was not the best use. Spears were mainly a defense tool. Used on castle walls or used in shield based formations. The longer reach of the spear was better used in defensive applications." Kurozai finished.

The teacher nodded with a smile. "Correct. Now, during these dark ages, there were rumors of dark kings and magical creatures. Could anyone tell me the worst of them all?"

Two hands.

"Souna! I called on Kurozai last time. Tell me, what was the worst of all the demons and evil creatures?"

"Those would be the Overlordian and their Minions." Souna stated, she continued. "The Minions were cruel beasts born from alchemy and witchcraft. Ripping the souls out of the healthy, and transferring them into minion life force. Their commanders were worse however. The only end to Overlordian cruelty was their creativity." Souna finished. Leaving Kurozai eerily silent. A blow to his own pride and lineage left him in a sour mood.

"Correct. Now class, clear your desks. It's time to have a pop quiz." The teacher said, the response was a groan from most of the class.

After a good hour classes ended and lunch began.

Kurozai sat in a tree during the lunch break with a friend.

"I'm just saying." He said while slurping up some noodles. "It doesn't make sense. You get invited to join the club almost daily." Another slurp of noodles. "The club leader is the girl you like, but you won't join?"

This friend was Kiba Yuuto. The alleged prince of Kuoh Academy.

Kurozai swallowed his bite of a sandwich. "Firstly, don't speak with your mouth full. Secondly, Akeno is in that club if you remember. She creeps me out." Kurozai said.

Both boys remember the states Kurozai received from the girl. There was a bet between the two wondering if she was a yandere ready to snap at a moment's notice.

They shuddered at the thought together.

"If I didn't know better I'd swear she would think I'm a god or something." Kurozai jokes.

Kiba laughed at Kurozai's jab. "Hey, you want to go to the arcade this weekend? I got extra time between club activities and preparing for our yearly camping trip." Kiba asked.

Kurozai smiled. Kurozai was unlike other people. When he smiled it always looked like he was devising an evil plan. It was a strange condition that no one could figure out. "Sounds good to me. Sunday alright?" Kurozai said.

Kiba nodded. "Perfect. Sometime in the afternoon?"

The two nodded and jumped down from the tree. They were right next to the front door of the main building.

A girl spotted Kiba and a horde of teenage girls gathered around the two.

Kurozai laughed and slapped Kiba on the back. "Good luck with your zombie hoard. See ya ladies."

Like a hive mind, "Bye Kurozai!" The girls spoke in unison.

Kurozai went back to class. However when he sat down the door opened.

The Student Council walked in. They approached Kurozai like a unit of soldiers. At the front of the group was his classmate and rival Souna.

"Kurozai Kishi, please come with me. We have something we must discuss." Souna said with her eyes darting across the room.

Kurozai got up with his things and followed them.

He was led to the club room for the student council.

There was a table, two chairs and a chess board set up.

"Please take a seat." Souna told Kurozai.

Kurozai sat down on the closest chair, which happened to be the black side of the chess board, and Souna sat across from him.

"Now Kurozai, I know that I am taking you away from your classes, but the reason why is important." Souna said as she moved a white pawn forward.

Kurozai could already feel what this was meant to be. A chess match and a marketing pitch. Kurozai chuckled and moved a black knight forward. "And I'm guessing thats why you brought your entire possy?" Kurozai joked, referencing the other club members aroudn him.

"Never could slip anything past you, could I?" Souna laughed as she slipped out a bishop.

"No, and you never will. I'm not joining the council Souna." Kurozai said as he moved his knight to either take the freshly moved Bishop or her knight. Either way Kurozai would lose his knight.

"Then perhaps you would like to wager this game on it? If I win, you join us. If you win, you get to walk away and I'll never bother you about it again." Souna said as she moved the bishop forward, letting her knight take the attack.

"Fine." Kurozai said as he now put all of his focus into the chess match. He moved his knight to take hers as he already plotted his next three moves.

Silence befell the two as a war emerged on the board. Pawns were killed in the line of duty, Souna's queen brandished her sword, Kurozai's only knight fought valiantly against two rooks and managed to take one down with it. The Bishops were locked in an intellectual warfare. The King's had yet to be touched as their players waged their war.

Finally Kurozai saw a blunder from Souna. With his signature evil grin he took advantage of the mistake and moved his rooks and final bishop in, leaving the queen and pawns to defend the king.

The rooks fought against Souna's queen as the bishop fought against her rook.

Both rooks fell in their fight but took her queen with them and the Bishop won in his fight.

All that was left was Kurozai's queen, a bishop and two pawns, most of whom were defending their king. Souna only had a knight and five pawns defending her king.

The war was bloody, but Kurozai had her on the backfoot. It was time to turn up the pressure.

Using his queen and Bishop he took out three pawns, all while he sent his pawns forward into the back line. One was killed in the fight, but the other managed to sneak past and become a rook. Now Kurozai had this victory in hand for sure.

Souna used her queen to take out Kurozai's but the bishop took the attack for her, leaving the Pawn turned Rook to take her head. It was now Souna's king.

"I admit defeat Kurozai." Souna said with a defeated sigh.

Then the bell rang for students to go home, and Kurozai packed his stuff and left, leaving a defeated Souna and a shocked Student Council.

On his way out of the building, he saw Kiba and waved goodbye.

Kiba waved back and walked into the school's old building, which had been repurposed as the Occult Research Club building.

Kurozai left the school grounds and walked out to the forest.

It was time to train.

Nearly an hour of walking later, Kurozai had found the clearing he and The Spirit had been using to train.

Speaking of the Spectral Overlord. He had phased into reality, with his legs this time to be able to show Kurozai the proper form of melee and magic combat.

Today's lesson was the Halberd. Kurozai's armor covered his body and he drew a rune on the ground.

"Krostga." He whispered to the rune.

The ground shifted and a long polearm burst from the ground with an axe head and spear tip on the bottom.

Kurozai grabbed the halberd and fixed its positioning.

He stood in a wide stance with the axe firmly grasped between his gauntlets.

The Spirit nodded and the trees around them began to shift into wooden dummies.

Kurozai began to slash at a distance from the dummies, the axe creating gashes in the wood.

Almost an hour of training had passed before Kurozai fell on his ass from exhaustion.

"Can we stop now? I feel like my arms are gonna fall off." Kurozai said between breaths. The response he received was the dummies returning to their tree's and the Halberd vanishing into dust.

Kurozai stood up and dusted himself off as the armor vanished again. The Spirit floated next to him and held his left hand out. In his spectral hand was something Kurozai had never expected to see so soon.

It was an Eye of evil. A gem stone birthed from rocks in close proximity to the Heart of Onyx, otherwise known as the Tower Heart.

The Eye of Evil was what gave Overlords their Overlordian magics and control over the minion horde. So far, Kurozai had been siphoning magic for training from The Spirit.

Kurozai summoned his left gauntlet, an empty slot sat on the forearm. He inserted the Eye into the slot, and fell to his knees as his armor covered him again. His helmet had grown three horn's which looked like a crown. A mist grew to cover his face and Kurozai felt his eyes burn as they began to glow.

He stood back up and felt a surge of power in his veins. Kurozai grabbed a nearby tree and threw it into the sky. It ended up flying so far that it landed in Italy, scaring some poor nun's.

However the armor vanished into dust again and Kurozai was twice as exhausted as before.

He almost collapsed onto the ground. However he persevered and walked home.

Once home he snuck into his room, as to not awaken his sister.

Once inside he fell asleep in his favorite position. Face first into a pillow with drool leaking from his mouth. An unbecoming sight for an overlord, yet what could the spirit do. He vanished into the darkness for the night to regain his magic.

[NEXT TIME]

Kurozai raised his sword to a woman with black wings.

Watching the boy die, Kurozai scoffed and began to walk away. But a sharp pain in his shoulders, then spikes shot out of his shoulders. He screamed in pain.
