"Never knew you were so crafty," Dee commented, watching his lover working his sewing machine.

"Why? Because I'm so useless at plumbing, woodwork, and fixing things?" Ryo was fully expecting his partner to laugh at him.

"What? No, 'course not! You can do so many things I don't have a clue about, I've just never seen this side of ya before. Sewin' on buttons and mendin' tears, sure, but makin' stuff from scratch? That's seriously impressive. I didn't even know you had a sewin' machine."

"I didn't, but a neighbour was selling her old one a few weeks back after she got a better one, and I figured it might come in handy, so I bought it."

"Looks like you figured right."

"Yeah. Making Bikky's Halloween costume is a lot better than trying to buy or rent one. Ghosts, pirates, wizards, stuff like that is easy to find, but anime characters…" Ryo shook his head. "For those, you have to go to specialist stores. I looked online, but even if I could've found what Bikky wanted, which I couldn't, the costumes at those places cost the earth. It's a lot cheaper to buy the fabric and make it myself. That way I can make sure it fits him, and since his hair's already the right color, I won't even need to pay for a wig."

"The brat has no idea how lucky he is. You gonna make yourself a costume too?"

"I don't know, I haven't decided. Maybe I should just throw on an old sheet and go as a ghost."

"You score zero in the imagination department," Dee teased. "Hey, we should put on our black suits, white shirts, and dark glasses, go as the Men in Black. Slick, stylish, way cool, and costs nothin'."

Ryo grinned. "Why not?"
