Chapter 6- Savior

The evening sky is painted in hues of pink and orange as Luna walks the familiar path home from work. Her mind is preoccupied with thoughts of the white wolf. She tried to look for him before her shift, while narrowly avoiding her mom. She asked around the shops if they'd seen a white "dog" but everyone said they hadn't seen him. She even called the animal control and the vet clinic but to no avail. She sighed in discontent. "How hard is it to find a white wolf?"

And then there was Kiba. The mysterious stranger that bore a striking resemblance to the guy in her dreams. "There's no way it's the same guy." She murmurs, looking down at her feet.As Luna rounds a corner, her heart skips a beat as a group of strangers dressed in black suddenly appear, surrounding her. Fear grips her chest, and she instinctively tries to back away, her breath catching in her throat.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Her voice trembles with a mixture of panic and defiance. "You're coming with us," the short stranger growls out to her, grabbing her wrist. "Let go of me!" She cries out but their grip on her tightens, and Luna's pulse quickens with a surge of adrenaline as she struggles to wrestle out of their grip. She feels a presence behind her, a large hand covering her mouth as she tries to scream and fight. Just when it seems like the situation might escalate, a figure emerges from the shadows. Kiba's presence is sudden and electrifying, his eyes ablaze with determination. In a swift and fluid motion, he intervenes, punching the short in the face, his actions almost too fast for the eye to follow.

Kiba looks at the taller stranger holding Luna in his grasp, a menacing growl erupting from his throat. "Let her go." His voice carries a potent edge, a warning to those who dare cross his path.

"Who the hell are you?" The man asks, his voice wavering as she glances at his companion on the ground. Kiba growls again, taking a menacing step towards him. "Who I am doesn't concern you. Let. Her. Go."

The man pulls out a gun, pointing it directly at Kiba m. Luna's eyes widen in horror as she screams and tries to protest. Luna watches in astonishment as Kiba's eyes flashes gold, the canines slightly protruding from his mouth movements blend agility with grace, as he grabs the man's wrist, bones cracking and his screams resounding in the air. Luna seizes the opportunity to break free from their grasp. Her heart pounds in her chest, a mix of gratitude and bewilderment filling her as she watches Kiba's actions unfold.

Kiba doesn't respond, but crushes the man's wrist, the screams cut short when his other hand goes for his throat. The man claws at Kiba's hand, which his nails had begun to grow and pinch his skin. Kiba slowly picks him up, his face full of fury as he slams him to the ground. Both strangers are out of commission, leaving Luna and Kiba standing amidst the tension. Luna's eyes meet Kiba's, her voice a whisper amidst the lingering tension.

" Thank you."

As the adrenaline begins to subside, a multitude of questions and emotions swirl within Luna. The enigma surrounding Kiba deepens, as she watches his appearance-fangs shortening, claws retracting, eyes turning back to the calming blue huge- back to normal.

"We should get out of here." He holds his hand out to her. "I'll explain on the way." With a shaky hand, Luna reaches out, grasping his hand as she turns away from the bodies on the ground.

. . .

They make it to Luna's car, quickly getting inside. She manages to start the car despite her shaking fingers and drive away. They drive in silence, reaching the woods where she would continue for another 15 minutes to get home. This time, Luna gathers her thoughts. She peers over at Kiba, who was staring out in front of him. He looks normal, albeit more alert with his hands clasped tightly. 'He's nervous.' She thought. The dreams that she had must mean something and what she saw today wasn't a trick of the light. She decides to rip the bandaid off.

"Kiba, back there… your eyes and your claws. Am I seeing things, or…"

Kiba sighs. "You're not seeing things, Luna." Out of the corner of her eye, she sees him looking at her intently." I'm not entirely human. I'm a white werewolf."

Luna's eyes widened, and she looked at Kiba, stepping on the break with such force that they felt the strain of the seatbelts against them. The car jerks to a stop as Luna stares at him with a mix of shock and curiosity.

"Holy-A werewolf? Like, the ones from legends and stories?" She runs her hands through her hair as Kiba continues.

"Yes."

"But how..?"

"I was born this way. Although if you wanna get technical, there's a legend that says that the Lunar maiden, thankful to the wolf for protecting her, granted him a human form that he may take in order to hide among the humans that hunted them." Kiba closed his eyes. When he opened them again, they were the same golden eyes that she saw on him before. The same golden eyes she remembers from the escaped white wolf.

"Whoa," she stares in awe. "Just like my dream.."

"Your dream?" Kiba's eyes faded back to blue, raising one of his eyebrows in confusion.

She tells him the dreams she's been having. About a girl, the white wolf, the boy that looks like him, and the other three wolves. As she's telling him this, she could see his eyes slowly widen, his mouth parting slightly. When she was done, Kiba had leaned back in his seat. He was silent: his face stoic but his eyes wide as he rubbed a hand over his face.

"I know it sounds insane," Luna began, "but this can't be a coincidence."

"It's not insane." His voice came out low then he repeated it again, with more conviction. "I've been.. having these dreams as well."

Luna stopped her rambling, and for the second time looked at Kiba in surprise. "What?"

He leans closer to her, his gaze unwavering as he breathes her in. "I kept hearing a voice call out to me; to search for something. This scent…"

He sniffs the top of her head catching a few of her strands tickling his nose. Luna feels her cheeks warm with him so close.

"This is what drew me here."

He pulls back suddenly, clearing his throat. He looks back at the road, unable to look at her again. "I was drawn to this town for a reason, a reason that involves you. There's something here, something I need to figure out."

Luna, after taking a moment to compose herself. "I don't know what's happening, Kiba, but I appreciate you saving me." He looks back at her and gives a genuine smile.

"Now that we've got that out the way. I think we need to get some answers."
