Trina glanced around, the noise of the party dimmer now that they'd escaped it. Tori was struggling with her half of the load, the last ingredient to them being safe. "No one saw, so we're almost home free." The older girl promised. They were heading into the darkness, using the party as cover, and hoping they'd avoid to much attention. Luckily for them the haze of the party was great cover, added to by the disguises they'd chosen, one's that were appropriate to the situation, yet gave them anonymity.
"Do we really have to do this?" Tori wondered, showing both signed of her compassion, as well as more then a little fear.
"Dad's dead." Trina quietly snapped. "Shot down by some thug. Then we find out that the kid was working for someone, probably in the department, and mom, she just ran. Left us behind. So yea, this is dark, and kinda evil, and if we do it right, then we'll be safe. Otherwise, dad made a load of enemies, and given he was helping with an investigation into police corruption…" Her angry voice faded, hoping her sister understood just how bad things had become.
"It just feels so wrong." Tori said, but continued to haul her half of the very unconscious load. Soon the person they'd drugged and kidnapped was shoved into the back seat of a car, one Tori had no clue as to it's origins. "We stole this, didn't we?"
"Borrowed, and I mean literally." Trina corrected. "Perv wanted this done, and was willing to let us use his car. Now, we only have a shot amount of time, so steel your nerves, cause part of this is illegal…"
Tori had loads of questions, but let it slide, not sure what else to do but get in the car and pray for the best.
After getting into the car, Trina focused on driving while Tori made sure the wigs they were wearing were on straight as they drove off into the night. Not too far away, a good ten minutes away by back roads, they reached an old observatory in one of the higher parts of the Hollywood Hills. Not closed, but not used very often in the modern world, it was in an oasis of under developed land in the middle of the city. Lacking the more modern equipment, thus not being as useful as many of he computer aided telescopes, other than when it's small astronomers were present during the day, it was all but abandoned. Especially on nights like this. Pulling the sleeping bag out of the car, the one they'd used to cover up their victim, the Vega girls struggled to get the body into the building and up to where they'd do the next, darker part. All this time they worried about their contact, the man who worked grave shift guarding the observatory, and if he'd back out now that the moment had come.
"That her?" The man asked as he stepped out of the observatory, leaving the door conveniently open.
"Yes." Trina assured him. "You sure you wanna be here? How about if we tie you up? I don't want you losing this job…"
"I've all but lost it anyways." He replied. "Great place to bring a girl for sex. Of course, then she leave me, cause I'm not as good as you Hollywood Arts freaks… Sorry, no offense…"
"Offense taken." Trina growled. "Just, lets get this done. You got the stuff?"
"Was way easier then I'd expected." The man laughed. "We doing this?"
"We are." Trina told him. "You're not. Just, just go home, or to your office, and leave us to get this done. The room is ready, right?"
"Never could find out why they even had that room." The guard grumped, making random conversation.
"Cameras?" Tori risked asking, now worried about what proof of their crimes would be left behind after that night.
"Easy enough to run a recording." The man assured them. "I have no shortage of footage of dark, empty halls. Yea, you're covered." From there, reached for the bag, he took on more then his share of the weight, helping the girls carry this woman up to the odd platform near the top. Once there, they lay her down in the center of the pentagram that was already there, though no one ever wanted to know why or how, worried that their co-conspirator had already used chalk to make the required adjustments for the ritual. He'd done it all based on images Trina had somehow found, without knowing much more then what it should look like, and how dangerous this kind of thing was if done ever so slightly wrong.
Once he was done placing the girl in the center, Trina escorted him away, giving Tori cover to pull the bag back to make sure their sacrifice was still viable. Jade West, still drugged to the point where she wasn't sure where she was, lay there in her pale glory, ready for her part in the ritual.
"Sorry about this." Tori tried to explain to the still not quite conscious girl. "Should wait for you to be back, but don't have the time. So, it's like this. We need safety, and with dad dead, and mom in the wind, we're kinda dependent on a miracle. Only, not that easy to get, and the only one Trina could find that would work, way dark. Yea, sorry about this. See, there's this ritual, kinda blackish magics, that will help establish a kingdom in hell, or something like that, and we need to make a deal with it's ruler. So, not sure how this works, just that, according to the 'Book of The Underworld', we have to do this, and someone is gonna hurt. As in you, Jade. Sorry, but you were, are just too perfect a candidate for this sacrifice, and we need the safety. So…" Tears were streaming down her cheeks as she finished.
Trina had returned with the things they'd need for the ritual. "Okay, this requires a couple of different forms of blood sacrifice. First, we bleed into the censer, as the incense is burning, then we have to bleed the subject, before we have the blood sacrifice… Yea, this is kinds standard. Lets get started." Nodding, the older girl was fairly sure she knew the steps, each part, having spent several days memorizing it before they ever started, and still she had the written instructions, just in case.
Jade would slowly start to come to as they finished the preparations, needing to get done before the hour of the wolf, when specific events either natural occurred, or could be arranged. In this case, arranged. Well into the darkness of the night, long after the midnight hour, the last of the preparations was completed and they started the quiet chant, focusing on the sacrifice, and the safety they'd win by this one act of betrayal. Now ready, and at the appointed hour, Tori and Trina used a heated pin to bleed into a cup, and poured the small amount of blood onto the incense, watching it burn a dark read. Jade's blood was taken, mixed with wine, and each sister took a sip. Chants covered each step, and the whole thing felt dark and evil. Finally, all the preliminaries done, Trina was ready to revive Jade if needed.
At the strong sent, blue eyes shot open, seeking some reference to let her know where she was, only to see the naked sky above. "Where…"
"No scream?" Trina asked. "It's okay, we're miles from anything. Clear view of the sky, right? Honestly, we could do just about anything out here. In fact, we did, rituals and preparations for this moment, over the couple of weeks since dad died. Time we should have had to mourn. But no, dad has enemies, and mom, she just ran, not one thought about her poor children. So now, we do what we have to, and we can regret, and repent, later, once we're safe again."
Jade confirmed she was tied down, still too groggy to do much anyways. "So now what? You slit my throat?"
"We got a copy of the Book of the Underworld." Tori told her. "Sorry about this…"
"No, we don't have time." Trina cut her sister off. She produced a chalice full of a thick red liquid. "We followed the instructions as from the book, and burnt the book as was shown. Now, mixed into the blood, freely given, cause someone need to do something about those people at the blood banks. I swear, people donate blood for those in need, not to let some corrupt guy just sell a few pints to anyone." Calming herself, Trina focused on the ritual, this delicate part, and continued. "Drink this."
The chalice was presented to Jade. "Just drink it. It's not like you haven't tried this before…" Tori tried.
"Tori, we have to be ready." Trina instructed. "The hot branding iron…"
The younger girl gulped. "I have it… Jade, just drink. Not crazy about torture…"
"She has to agree, but can be coerced…" Trina insisted.
"I'll drink." Jade tried to raise her hands, only to find she'd been bound too tightly. "Um…"
Trina pressed the cup to her lips, and watched as Jade chocked on the liquid. "Trina…?" Tori worried.
"No, humans blood is far too thick to be easily drunk by someone. At least, someone human." The older girl insisted. "Jade is gonna be sick, maybe worse. But it's done. Only time will tell if the ritual is a success, or if we condemned her for nothing…"
The next two hours were tense, broken up by the choking, coughing, and gagging from Jade. Even if the blood wasn't thick, the ashes of the book would have made it a difficult drink. Jade almost vomited more then once. Those times between her fits of pain at trying to digest the blood were made up of the pale girl laying, as quiet as the dead. Hours passed, and no one was quit sure if they'd failed...
with the first rays of the morning sun, Trina checked on her progress, summoning one of the smaller, weaker spirits she'd been taught how to contact through the book. The minor malevolent spirit appeared, solidified over the burning incense, but was somehow more worried then angry, a major change. "It's done, and now Jade West is a queen of hell." The spirit informed them as a form of greeting, obviously not wishing to be there any longer then necessary.
"We're safe." Tori breathed out. "The ritual, she'll protect us now, right?"
"Ruling in hell has to be better then whatever she was in line for anyways." Trina agreed. "Just, if she gonna live, or go to hell…"
"Non of the above." The spirit spat at them. "She wasn't damned yet, so she is free to change her pocket of hell. Broken free, it will be her own realm, and you, bitch, you will be safe, regardless of if she lives or dies. Not a queen of hell so much as a Daimon Queen… Not evil, and with the rights to choose her fate"
"Not damned…" Tori tried to wrap her mind around that thought, more grateful she hadn't doomed her friend then happy that she would no longer be hunted.
Done with it's task, and not wishing to be near the new queen, the spirit fled as soon as it was allowed. "Her breathing is stable." Tori told her astonished sister, interrupting her concentration on the fleeing fiend. "Lets get her home."
Trina just nodded, secretly happy that she didn't have to kill, or damn, someone she knew just to keep her sister safe. 'You'll thank me later, Jade…' She told the sleeping girl, knowing the worst was now over. "Lets not tell Harvey she lived." Trina whispered. "Kinda what he was expecting to get out of the deal…"
Wrapped in the sleeping bag from before, her party dress now coated in blood, Jade was carried out to where Trina's car had been staged, and slowly driven home. The sisters had abandoned their costumes after the ritual, intent on destroying them before they knew that now they wouldn't have too. "Now we can go home. Her spirits will keep us safe… The price of their new queen." Trina assured her sister. "We'll be taken care of, I promise…"
