Alllright. see. this is what happens when a writer checks his app at 4am after posting his newest chapter at 3am. i see a comment that i get genuinely worried about damaging the story's momentum, about how a character is acting ooc, as well as pointing out flaws for the character in how they're acting and... poof. all hands on deck, need to post post post to run damage control haha.. ahhh, god I'm tired. I'll probably add this to the next chapter before Posting it to save space, but for now let's just answer the review in question.
Hiruzen.
i knew the old monkey would be a point of debate, as everyone on this site views him differently. some the loving grandpa, some the evil manilulator, some as a sensei, some as a villain.
i see him as a man who's been pushed to do too much, and is struggling to hold all the pieces. He has danzo and his team mates chipping away at his authority; He has his own Subordinates second guessing him and he has his family splitting away from him due to his job and at the end of it all, god of shinobi or professor, whatever you want to call him; he is still human. and he is getting old... and that means tired.
humans can make errors, they can make mistakes. tired ones even more so. he saw naruto become the ticking time bomb he always feared and when a solution was offered, he took it. why? because he already has so... much... to deal with. I've never been a fan of "oh hiruzen remembered he is hokage and make everyone afraid", he's one man. one man in a village where he's respected, but still has a job to do. the paperwork jokes aside, i am going for a hint of realism with his actions in that, he would unload this genuine problem to the people he assigns to handle said problem, so he can focus on running the village which as a whole is still the GREATER concern.
the most volatile entity in his village has just been marked with a seal that he knows can twist a person to be insane. would he LIKE that he has to do what he did? fuck no! that's why he acted the way he did to sparrow's extremes. but in the end, hiruzen has always been a village first, individual afterwards type leader... and i cant realistically believe that he would put naruto ahead, when he didn't even let or assign anyone to care for the boy in his youth, or bother to try and find out why the WALKING BATTERY OF CHAKRA, could not make a SINGLE BASIC CLONE.
Overworked, Tired, Elderly and most importantly; too trusting. that is hiruzen to me. always wanting to see the best in his village... but with people like danzo behind the scene, the likelihood gets smaller and smaller... so.
yes. in a way, Hiruzen is "Ooc" for this story. He see's the situation solving itself, and will only step in if necessary because in the end, he can see how it will turn out. he cannot, and in the series, did not put one person above the entire village. and i cannot see him doing the same here. as for his interactions with Danzo...
story details. you'll have to wait and see.
hope this answers some concerns, cause I'm finally gonna take myself to sleep and attempt to stop worrying about flames or reviews.
