The bell rang and it was time for lunch.
Mikey wasting no time bolted up and out of the classroom. Leaving his brother and the task in picking out whom he would intern with.
He had a few sponsors but none matched his hunger at the moment.
Leo on the other hand stayed back and mused over his list. Though he expected more than what he was seeing. Still, he found one that did capture his whole aesthetics. Hopefully, his brothers, you, and April took this seriously.
Raph, begrudgingly, with little interest scribbled his choices. The thought of Aiwzaza compelled him.
Donnie, like Mikey, left. But not for food.
April, with her choices, hadn't decided. All the heroes and their agency seemed good. But which was the best and would elevate her?
"Choose Gunhead, that way we can do it together," Ochako suggested, standing next to April while throwing air punches.
That agency was on her list. Specialty: Martial Arts.
April pondered the idea, "I'm good. Besides Master Splinter trained me. Sorry."
Ochako's shoulders dropped a bit disappointed, but she shrugged it off equally fast. "I forgot. But okay. It's still a bummer though." She smiled taking a seat. "So who do you have in mind?"
"What about aquatic?" Tsuyu asked before April could answer.
She came over to the two girls.
April rose a brow to her, "Aquatic? No, I guess I haven't. Do you have someone in mind?"
"We'll I'm doing mine with Selkie. He's a Pro-Hero that specializes in maritime missions."
April looked through her list and near to the last page she found the hero's name. It was quite clear she wasn't keen on the idea.
"Thanks but umm," she respectfully declined with a nervous smile, "I don't think it's up my alley. You know?"
Tsuyu understood and took no offense.
"So what are you looking for then?" She asked with helpful concern while adding, "consider you, your friends, and your sister all have some sort of experience already."
"Yeah, not to mention your quirk is pretty strong and neat," Ochako added.
April gave her a grateful smile, "Thanks, never really thought of it that much. But since after the Sports Festival, I'm coming around to it."
She dropped her eyes back to her list, "This next step, I want it to be right. For me."
Ochako and Tsuyu heard the determination in April's voice and they exchanged supportive glances.
"We're sure you'll find it," Ochako assured. "The right one for yourself."
"Thanks."
"Do you think you might want to intern with your sister," Tsuyu brought up, she was looking over to your empty seat. "She might want to join you."
April felt something knot tightly in her, that she couldn't explain but felt her brows crease together.
The words were there but….they suddenly vanished.
You, she had factored that in. You needed to pick your place and from the amount of heroes that were interested in you were there. So you'd be okay, plus….besides the fact of the living conditions you and her were in now…until further notice….would it be alright if you both interned together?
She knew you'd want to. Any chance to spend time with her and April loved you for that, however…now….
April got up from her seat, startling Ochako and Tsuyu.
"You okay?" Ochako asked with worry, her eyes on April.
"Yeah. I think," April said uncertainly, it showed on her face, "I've got to go."
Before either Ochako or Tsuyu could say anything else April hurried out of the room with you on her mind.
You on the other hand suddenly sneezed in the lunch line.
"Bless you," Kirishima said, standing next to you, "you okay?"
You nod smiling. He turned away quickly to hide the flush of red he felt creeping up. The line moved and you moved with it. Kirishima followed back to his normal self.
"That was quite unwarranted," you said picking up two trays and handing him one. "I have never sneezed in such a manner."
He chuckled to himself from your speech, "Well maybe someone is thinking about you."
You give him a quizzing look, "Excuse me?"
"It's sort of a superstition. They say when another person sneezes that means someone is thinking of you."
"Really?" You were intrigued, "Is it positive or negative?"
He thought about it for a moment, "Well, more positive than anything."
Your eyes light up, "Really!"
The line moved.
"Yeah."
"What kind of positive?"
"Well umm…"he fumbled his words, looked away, and used the tray to hide the bottom of his cherry cheeks.
You noticed his distress and leaned in slightly with worry unaware of how close you were. He didn't either until he finally built up the courage to say it.
"It's positive if that other person likes someone else!"
He dropped his tray and turned back to you. Your face was mere inches from his, your eyes fixed worryingly on him.
Kirishima felt a jolt inside and knew he should move back. But…instead, he felt something keeping rooted and pulling him or maybe it was his erratic heart against his chest. Either way, his cheeks almost matched his hair.
"How amazing!" You gasp amazed and move back, "we should it! Think of me, Red Riot!"
Your request was innocent, Kirishima's mind went blank.
Noticing he said nothing you wave a hand before him. There was no reaction, the line moved so not wanting to hold up the line(as it would be rude) you took his hand and moved him with you.
The touch was kind, Kirishima snapped out of his trance, and the second before you let go of his hand he saw you holding his.
"Hello," you pleasantly greet Lunch Rush, "sandwich please."
"What kind?"
"A surprise!"
He gave an understanding nod, and began preparing your request. You watched with amazement when you remembered Kirishima.
"Have you decided what you want Red Riot?" you turn to him, he was looking at his hand for some reason, which you didn't understand, but you noticed his cheeks were red. "Are you alright?"
Your question brought him back and his attention on you. "Sorry," he apologized scratching the back of his head with an embarrassed chuckle, you smiled relieved his smile was back. His cheeks heated up once again at your smile. Feeling himself starting to become pulled back into that shocked daze, he shook his head to rid himself of it, you couldn't help yourself and turned away laughing a bit.
"What's so funny?" he chuckled smiling moving with you in the line.
"Nothing," you said with the sweetest smile and take your finished lunch, "I shall find us a table."
You thank Lunch Rush and continue down the line, Kirishima watched you pay and search for a table. You reach the floor, and most of the tables are nearly gone, those closest to the line. You were slightly deterred, you scanned the area for something, but again nothing came up so you walked around. There were so many different students here, their appearance and quirks were quite amazing. You never became tired of seeing it, your wonderous smile stretched across your face. A few times you stopped to watch others and see what they were doing.
A part of you was always tempted to go over to them and inquire about their quirk but you held back, you needed to find a spot. You wondered if the table you'd eat with April and Izuku along with Iida and Ochako was available. You navigate your way through, being mindful of others, and come to the area. Your smile dropped, it was taken. Across the room, heterochromia eyes noticed you among the room, standing there lost with a downcast look. It wasn't hard for them to figure out what it was all about. Setting their chopsticks down, leaving their bite of zaru soba alone, they get up and make their way over to you. Just as they were about to reach you and with a hand stretched towards you, Pony comes and quickly they retract their original gesture and return back to their seat.
"May!" Pony beamed, appearing on your side.
You were startled for a moment by her presence but welcomed it, "Pony!"
"What are you doing standing here like this," she asked with a curious look, "are you waiting for someone?"
You shake your head, then quickly realize you were, and nod, "Yes. I am waiting for Red Riot."
She gave you a bemused look, "Red Riot? Who's that? Your favorite hero?"
"I suppose so," you give it a simple thought.
"Really?!"
"Yes. In fact, here he comes now," you notice Kirishima coming over and point. Pony follows your direction to him. She was confused for a moment, looking from you to Kirishima until it clicked.
"Oh, it's his hero's name," she stated and greeted him, "Hello Red Riot!"
Kirishima was taken aback by her greeting and surprised to see her, "Uh, hey." He looked between you and Pony, "I'm guessing you didn't find a table." He asked you lightheartedly, you nodded acknowledging.
"It seems many are enjoying their lunch, so we might not be able to find seating at the moment."
An idea came to Pony, "Why don't you both come and sit with me," she thumbed over her shoulder, to her table, you looked behind her and saw her tray and four empty seats. She noticed the sad look in your eyes and across your face, "my classmates already left. I'm a rather slow eater. Come on!"
Before you could say anything she takes you by the wrist and pulls you over to the table. Kirishima follows a tad disappointed. But shrugs it off and joins you and Pony.
"Okay, what about this one, Flashlight!" Pony suggested, taking a bite of her salad, for a hero's name for you.
You take a thoughtful bite of your meatball sandwich, "I do not believe Flashlight connects with me." You decline apologetically and turn to Kirishima sitting next to you, "Your thoughts, Red Riot?"
He paused his bite and like you shook his head against it, "Naw, I don't think it fits you either. Sorry." He said to Pony.
She shrugged and took a bite of her salad, "Well, what do you think will be a good name then? As a hero, you're going to need one." She told you, speaking the truth.
You needed your hero name, it was not just part of the assignment, it was required. Why couldn't you just keep your name, May. April was able to find her name easily, Mikey too. What sort of name would April give you?
"What about this one," Kirishima spoke bringing you back, you look at him fully, he kept himself together but the red slowly crept on his cheeks, "the bright hero: Sunny." You blinked, and he quickly added another one, "Or the Radiant hero: Sunlight." Pony hid her laugh behind a hand, he tried again, "the Brightest Hero: Rays."
Pony continued laughing, she tried to be discrete but it was evident, she meant no disrespect. Kirishima sheepishly looked down at his food, you said nothing, he felt your eyes on him. He didn't have to look to know your brows here furrowed together deeply. Or so he thought, he felt a gentle touch.
"Thank you, Red Riot. For those wonderful names," you said apperactively.
He lifted his eyes and was met with a kind expression. You weren't bothered one bit, you even had a hand on his shoulders, he noticed. His body tensed. From your smile he relaxed and his normal smile returned.
"Guess none of those names, yet huh?" he smirked taking a sip of his drink.
You shrugged a bit, "No, but I am sure we will find a wonderful name that is suitable. Until then, perhaps I should focus on where I shall intern at. Have you any thoughts of your placement?" You open the question to them both.
Kirishima was about to answer but Pony did, "I only received a few offers. What about you?"
Your face lit up, "I plan to place wherever my sister wishes to go. So that we can be together. As we always are."
You take another bite of your sandwich and for a moment something didn't taste right with it, you ignore it and finish your lunch. After lunch finished you and Kirishima returned to class, you spot April and the guys all back. You wave to your sister who finished up her talk with Ochako who pointed to you informing April. Your sister turned to you, and for a moment you noticed her eyes dropped to the side. There was something in them you couldn't quite figure out, and it worried you. Sensing this April looked up and smiled at you with a wave. You open your mouth to say something, but you didn't get a chance, Aizawa comes in and tells everyone to get to their seats.
Quickly you and Kirishima take your seats.
The rest of class went by just as it always did, you did your best to pay attention but your thoughts were on April and the look she had. You'd never seen that before, was something wrong? You wondered that through the rest of class until the bell rang. Once class was dismissed you gathered your things, Kirishima noticed you lacked luster delight, by the way you gathered your things. You were focused on something, he wasn't sure what it was.
"May, you okay?" he asked concerned.
You blinked a few times registering his question, it took you a moment, and just as you were about to answer, Aizawa shook over you, "May. Don't forget to report to detention."
You slump, you nearly forgot. Across the room, Bakugo grunted heatedly and snapped a dark look at you. You knew what that look meant and quickly turned your back to him. Only fueling his anger more, Kirishima noticed this between you both and raised a lost brow. Gathering the last of your things you shuffle to the front of the class, and the other students start leaving. You saw April and Izuku leave together from the corner of your eyes, feeling your eyes on her April stopped for a moment, Izuku did too and they both waved at you with sympathetic looks and walked out with Iida and Ochako.
"Come on," Aizawa pulls your attention, your head whipped around to him, giving him your full attention. His eyes study you for a moment, before walking off. You follow him keeping with his pace all the way to the detention room.
Detention lasted for 45 minutes and you were finally free to go. Grabbing your things you leave, bow respectfully to the teacher, and walk down alone in the near-empty halls. Your steps were droll, your thoughts were elsewhere, you didn't realize you made it outside, or when a hard hand chop came down on your head followed by Bakugo's anger.
"No more detention Floor Face!" he snapped, snarling. You try to protest but he delivers another hand chop, "Pay attention! Next time you get detention you're walking home by yourself! Got it?"
You whimper slightly, covering the area he struck with your hands, give him a look between hurt and annoyance. You refused to answer.
It only upset him more, "Got it? Answer!" He came down with another strike, this time you managed to dodge it and run around him and away in the direction of his home. That didn't help at all, "Hey! Get back here Floor Face!"
"No!" you shout as he chases you.
