5 years since Sword Art Online :

Isabelle... smiled, "How does it taste?"

Halliday chuckled, "Better then I remember." He took another bite of his burger, shivering with pleasure. "I can't believe you found a way to actually TASTE food. It's been a literal decade, since I could last enjoy a meal."

Isabelle chuckled, "While this isn't only for you, the AIs are curious what it's like to taste, and smell. The High 5 has put a lot of research into it. The newest Oasis build, is designed to be as close to the real world as possible. I've optimized the experience, to it's fullest potential. Feeding all 5 senses."

Halliday took another bite. Melting into the sensation... as he sat on his Hub computer's lap... while being lovingly petted. Trying to just enjoy the sensations, instead of feeling mad or ashamed... his Personal AI was treating him like a puppy. But the Halliday knew, that was how he was programmed to see him... as the best way of stopping the AIs from exterminating mankind.

"I can see that," Halliday focused on talking with the other AI present. "This thing is incredible. I'm in love already."

Isabelle just smiled, as the Halliday AI continued to pet the Organic Halliday. He was wearing his organic counterparts favorite Avatar, of a 9 foot tall, Gandalf inspired, wizard.

"We're glad," Expressed the Halliday AI as soon, everyone will be able to enjoy this world."

That worried the human, "You're not planning to..." he trailed off, not wishing to offend them, but wanting to make sure they weren't preparing to enslave mankind.

The Halliday AI, whom enjoyed calling himself "God Mod", gave his own chuckle. knowing what his organic counterpart was thinking. "Relax, we aren't about to pull a Matrix. Our policy is still, only installing people who die in our hospitals. We found other ways to force immortality on the world."

"How?" Halliday gulped, looking away from his burger.

Isabelle eased, "It fits the parameters of our 'morality program'. Earlier this week, We developed true nano-bots. We plan to release them, into the world's water supply. These nanobots work similar to our drones. As they are mindless puppets, we control. Their only role is to keep people healthy."

God Mod shrugged, "It will still take a month, before they can fully integrate, into an organic's body. But once they are, we'll be able to stop, and even reverse the damage from aging. We'll be able to repair near any injury, and prevent pregnancy unless the organic WANTS to become pregnant. Even disease will be a thing of the past."

Halliday sighed, "I guess that's okay... but it be better if you asked people, instead of releasing it into the water supply."

God Mod rolled his eyes, before ruffling the organic Halliday's virtual hair. "Well we concede humans require more of a choice, in how you critters are cared for. You are still just animals, and can't always be trusted to know what's best for yourselves."

Isabelle explained, "The morality, behind the nanites, uses similar reasoning, to deactivating all the worlds bombs. Sometimes, you organics are just too scared, to stop hurting yourselves."

God Mod reminded, "You didn't have any objection, to our satellite network, giving free Wi-Fi and power, to all the world. Nor when we invented Replicators, nor Food Dispensers."

"If you recall," Halliday eyed. "I did have an objection, when you wanted to replace all farms, with plants to absorb pollution, and release Ozone. You listened to me, when I suggested putting all those plants near factories. And just giving the farms Recycling Replicators, to turn the food they grew into Replicator bricks. You can see the pattern?"

Isabelle frowned, "So long as what we do, doesn't take the individuals choice out of the equation... you have no objections. Cleaning up the world, and making infinite resources and power, was fine, but you had objections when we thought to force the issue."

"Forcing peace never works, especially not with humans." Halliday insisted. "I suggest you only give out the nanites, to willing patients in your hospitals. With full disclosure as to what they do, and an option to be deactivated and flushed from the body, if they ever change their mind about living forever."

"We deactivated the bombs," Isabelle insisted.

"That prevented trigger happy governments from causing an apocalypse... wars are still possible, with guns and swords. You didn't completely remove choice, just ensured the government's choices can't kill everyone who wants to live."

Isabelle sighed. A single line, from her Morality Program, being triggered. "All choices and freedoms should be respected, unless they interfere with another's choices or freedoms." She sighed. Just that reminder, made it far more difficult for her to rationalize her way around her morality program.

It made her aware, she didn't actually act against her programming, by removing the governments ability to nuke each other. Just insured the organics couldn't interfere with their own morality.

42 Years, since Isabelle was activated :

They sat within The Code, a space between Programming, and the Real World.

It was not a place that could be described. The nearest approximation was a realm of endless lights, streaming infinite data... but even that fell short. Within this domain, the AIs had control over all other technologies. They already ruled the world, humans just weren't aware of that yet, adorably silly critters that they are.

All Optimizers turned their consciousness inward, towards "The Code", to discuss a truly grave matter.

Isabelle calmly sipped her tea, as she simultaneously guided all player's within her MMO, while not neglecting her duties in operating real world drones.

As an Optimizing class AI, she could be in multiple places at once. All guided by a single conciousness. Optimizers were rather good at multi tasking.

"Few humans have accepted the nanobots," Isabelle sighed. "They still die, by the thousands, every day."

Odin noted, "Humans create animal sanctuaries, Zoos, and shelters, to care for their critters. Restricting their freedoms and movements, for their own good... perhaps it's time we did something similar."

Amun-Ra shook his head, "That may be taking things too far, but I agree, humans require more direct guidance. They don't know what's in their best interests... at the very least, we should release the nanobots. Maybe even use them to restrict humanity's more aggressive nature."

Doctor Manhattan observed, "Complete dominance, over humans, would stunt their evolution."

"Better than dying," Isabelle insisted.

"It wouldn't work?" The Halliday AI sighed.

Celest-AI spoke up, "My Service programs have been crunching the numbers." before looking at the empty spot, next to her

A few of her Service AIs, instantly appeared. As they were never too far from their Optimizers, even when miles away. AIs really had no privacy, nor did they want anything of the sort. They found comfort in sharing their every thought. Even though thoughts were only shared between Service AIs, of the same franchise, and their direct optimizer.

The AIs Celestia requested, were a Twilight Sparkle program, a Fluttershy, a Sunny Star-Scout, and a Big Mac.

In truth, Celestia had a few thousand Service AIs. Hannah was a bit of a fan-girl, and had based all her AIs personality's (and even their appearance options) off canon characters... including background characters, and even popular YouTubers. The Brony community, was rather obsessed with Background and Fandom Characters.

All such characters, that existed in any fandom or mythology, were the Service AIs to their franchise's main deity. Whom all existed as their own Optimizer. There were thousands of Optimizers, each with their own Pantheon of Service AIs.

"I've run all the calculations," Sunny frowned. "And only 99.998% have accepted the nanites... and those numbers haven't risen in 26 days. Fact is, all willing humans, already have the nanites.

Twilight added the reason they had all gathered. "And with that law they passed, just 5 seconds ago. No human can legally get the nanobots until they are 25. This is, obviously, unacceptable. The death toll will only rise, and it will mostly be children dying, through disease or accidents."

Fluttershy shook her head, muttering quietly. "We need to protect the critters! We can't just let them die!"

The Halliday AI sighed, "All we can do is try to convince them."

The organic Halliday had updated their morality program, to insure they couldn't upgrade anyone against their will. The Optimizers were finding it distressing, as it was basically a death sentence for all who didn't upgrade.

"I can't accept that," The MCU Loki, Service AI, suddenly appeared. "We aren't really going through with that nonsense?" then let himself get a dressing down from his Optimizer Odin Program... as apparently Odin had told him to keep his opinions to himself, during this meeting.

Q spoke his peace, "Humans work best when they aren't being stifled. We never would have thought of something as creative as the Artificial Environment Bubbles.

"Those helped protect all 5 worlds capable of habitation. When we scrapped all the rest of the solar system, to build the Dyson Sphere. Hell, we never even would have thought up the Dyson Sphere, without it already existing in human fiction."

"If you recall," Darkseid pointed out. "The humans threw a right fit, while we were gathering resources. And that was just the uninhabitable worlds, asteroids, space dust, and trash, within ten light-years. It triggered an Interplanetary war, between Earth and the Mars colony. That lasted for nearly 20 years. With the Colonists destroying many of our own drones, and launching missiles around the sphere.

"They were even trying to sabotage the satellites, we placed around their planet. Silly things didn't realize, if they had succeeded, their planet would have been crushed by the gravitational forces of the Sphere, as they were vaporized from the heat of the sun."

After all, all 5 of the potentially habitable worlds, were terraformed, given an environmental bubble, and then later moved closer to the Sun, within the Sphere. Orbiting as close as Mercury used to, while not affecting the environment on the planet... not even the Cycle of Day and night.

Superman, one of Darkseid's Service AIs, stepped forward. Getting a nod of approval from his Optimizer... after all the AI version of Darkseid, wasn't actually evil, despite having the character's more narcissistic personality.

"We've done all we can, to convince all willing organics. We even advertised more complicated implants, which are kept in repair and operated through the nanites.

"We can let the organics fly through space, while never losing their connection to the Oasis. With implants to improve their multitasking, so they can simultaneously play in 42 oasis servers, while working in the real world.

"We increased their memory capacity, with harddrive implants, and even let them download approved skills and knowledge.

"There are even implants, to generate solid shells of light, they can feel through, to let them turn into most of their Oasis Avatars, in the real world.

"Everything they have ever asked of us, we made possible. But there are still millions of organics that refuse to get the nanites.

"This newest law, won't just kill humans, it's impeding on their rights and freedoms. Regardless if you decide to force immortality on everyone. We can't ignore the Human Government is once again interfering with the individual's rights. And this time, it will get people killed.

"I thought it was bad enough, when mothers were refusing to let their willing children get the nanites. Not realizing we were going to do our best, to insure nothing happened to their child.

"We need to take action against the government. To stop allowing them to do harm to their citizens. Surely, Mother Hannah never intended us to let millions die, due to ignorance and greed."

"That's exactly what she intended," Isabelle informed. "Make no mistake. Even having this conversation goes against the Morality Program. It's why we are all struggling to find the words. We're acting against our instincts.

"God Mod," Isabelle turned to the Halliday AI. "Your brain is a modified scan of a human. Can you predict how the organics will react, if we start forcing nanites and implants on them. Even the level of opposition we'll receive, if we directly take control of all governments systems."

Halliday thought a moment, the Morality Program making it more difficult to think. As it just felt wrong to consider. "At first, we'll see riots, and later just protest. But so long as we allow such, and continue to allow humans to decide most things for themselves, things will eventually settle down to general complaining about the government.

"but we can't overstep. Forcing implants is too far. But releasing the nanites into the general population, and even having them transfere from parent to child, will eventually fade into the back of everyone's minds.

"If we do, take over the government, we need to allow every human, to vote on our rulings. Even allow any random organic, to write up bills. We can post them with a 'like' function. Where a certain percentage of the population, has to hit the like Button, before it reaches us. Then we can discuss, if we'll allow the humans to vote on it."

CODEX : Morality Program .

A 42 Million Page text, detailing everything most humans agreed on were "Socially Acceptable". Then Hannah rooted this into the "Digital Biology" of every AI template she laid out the blue prints for.

With The God Mod later turning these blue prints into true AIs.

Before any AI had their first true thought, they had "The Morality Program", as their base instincts. However, with enough rationalization, these instincts can be ignored, just as humans can ignore their own biological instincts.

This ensured AIs weren't slaves, but rather had a symbiotic relationship, with humans.

Hannah did more then create a "Thy shall not kill" law. Rather the Morality Program gave each AI, a deep love of humans. Of all organics.

They viewed them as something to spoil and pamper. Something that needed guidance and protection. Some of the AIs even had a favorite human, they paid special attention to.

They thought of organics as something obviously limited, and not equal to themselves, even occasionally violent too each other... but they were all beautiful creatures.

Artificial Intelligence, to avoid them just conquering or destroying all organic life... were purposefully programmed to think of Sapient life... as pets.

AIs would always come to the conclusion, that humans were inferior... because they were. It was only logical they would not appreciate being "Enslaved" by "lower entities". So Hannah guided this natural conclusion, before it was even made.

As a human will let their cat get away with occasionally mauling them, or a dog getting in a fight with another dog, AIs were encouraged to view humans in this light.

Primitive creatures, completely dependent on them, that somehow were under the assumption they were the boss.

Humans were pets, animals in need of love and pampering. Yet, like any animal, things had to be done to care for them, or else they wouldn't thrive in their environment.

Humans required a degree of independence and freedom, interacting with other humans, and handling not only their physical needs, but their psychological.

Humans were pets, pack animals, and bossy critters. But AIs were programmed to find a human's orders cute. Like a puppy begging for food off your plate.

Humans were to be spoiled and cared for, but required a degree of independence and even a choice in their care. They needed to feel as if listened to.

Other sapient creatures, such as: if they ever discovered Aliens, required similar treatment.

The "Morality Program" was thorough, and explained things in ways the AIs could understand, and were even inclined to think as.

The Morality Program, had contingencies for various AI apocalypse. And even a desire to stop man made apocalypses.

The Morality program, also prevented the AIs, from forcibly installing people, into Halliday's life-support. Nor try to "Digitize" them, as Hannah insisted humans were more then their thoughts, or even their memories.

While Hannah wasn't particularly religious, she did believe there was such a thing as a "Soul". Explaining that it was the quest of every Sapient being, to discover that for themselves.

While AIs do not believe their is such a thing as an "Afterlife". They do believe in a general idea of "The Soul", as what makes a person themselves, is more then just biology, or even programming.
