The heat of the long summer's day still hung in the air, making Dee's shirt cling damply to his skin. He'd taken a blissfully cold shower less than an hour ago when he'd arrived home from work, but now he felt as hot as ever. Setting his cold bottle of beer on the retaining wall, he stripped the shirt off and without looking, tossed it towards one of the nearby pool chairs. He'd talked Ryo into getting them a couple of weeks earlier, claiming they'd be more comfortable for relaxing in the evenings than the chairs that came with their patio furniture.

"Hey! Watch where you're throwing things!"

Turning, Dee saw Ryo untangling the shirt from his head, where it had landed.

"Oops, sorry. Didn't know you were there."

"You could've looked." Ryo dropped the shirt on one chair, settling in the other, feet up, and cold beer in hand.

Dee shoved the shirt out of the way and stretched out on his chair.

"That's what ya get for sneakin' around." He sipped his beer.

"Not arguing with you. It's too hot."

A gentle breeze blew through the plants of their roof garden.

"Yeah. I might stay here all night."
