I was at the Quidditch arena and it was a cool place. I was made the Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team and with me was Quidditch Captain Oliver Wood. He was showing me the ropes.
Quidditch (formerly known as Kwidditch and Cuaditch) is a wizarding sport played on broomsticks. It is the most popular game and most well-known game among wizards and witches, and, according to Rubeus Hagrid, the equivalent to Muggles' passion for football (Soccer).
The object of the game is to score more points than your opponents. Each goal is worth ten points and catching the Golden Snitch is worth one-hundred and fifty points. The game ends when the Snitch is caught or an agreement is reached between the captains of both teams. Some games can go on for many days if the Snitch is not caught (the record, according to Quidditch Through the Ages, is six months, although no one caught the Snitch.)
The main ancient games that provided some inspiration for Quidditch are:
A game by the name of Stichstock originated in Germany and consisted of a single wizard acting as a guardian or goalkeeper, trying to protect an inflated dragon bladder. A number of other players mounted on broomsticks would attempt to pierce the bladder, with the first who successfully did so being declared the winner. This game may have been the inspiration for the Quidditch position of Keeper.
An Irish game by the name of Aingingein required broomstick-mounted players to fly through a number of burning barrels set in the air, whilst all the time clutching a ball with one hand. At the end of this fiery course was a goal which the ball had to be hurled into. The wizard who completed the course and scored a goal in the shortest time was the winner.
Creaothceann was an exceptionally violent and often fatal game that originated in Scotland. A large number of boulders were charmed to hover in the air and each player had a cauldron strapped to his/her head. A horn was sounded, the rocks were released, and the players would fly around on their broomsticks trying to catch as many rocks in their cauldron as possible. The winner was the player who caught the most rocks (this game has been outlawed for many years). This game, as noted in Quidditch Through the Ages, is thought to be the inspiration of the Beater position.
Shuntbumps was a very simple form of broomstick-jousting where one flyer attempts to knock the others off of their broom.
A game rather like Tennis on a broomstick, Swivenhodge involved hitting an inflated pig's bladder backwards and forwards across a hedge. This game could have been the inspiration of the Quidditch position of Chaser, simply because it was the first and only mentioned broom game involving a ball being passed, barring Quidditch itself.
Evolution of the game
The sport of Quidditch gets its name from Queerditch Marsh, the location of the first ever recorded game. A witch by the name of Gertie Keddle lived on the edge of the marsh around the year 1050 and recorded what she saw in a diary that survives to this day. Successive entries in her journal show the evolution of the game and how each element was introduced.
Her first note simply records her annoyance at a number of people playing a game with a ball whilst flying their broomsticks above the marsh. When the ball landed in her cabbage patch, she confiscated it and then hexed the man who asked for it.
A second entry shows that the players did not give up, but had made themselves a new ball and were then trying to score goals by throwing it through trees at the end of the marsh. This was the earliest incarnation of the Quaffle and the scoring hoops of today.
The third entry notes the introduction of flying rocks that had been bewitched to knock the players off their broomsticks, which were the forerunners of the Bludgers. She also mentioned the presence of a "big Scottish warlock" who may have been a Creaothceann player, which would show a clear link between the two sports.
With historical records of the time being rather limited, there is no further mention of Quidditch until a hundred years later, around 1150. A letter sent from a wizard called Goodwin Kneen to his Norwegian cousin Olaf survives from this time and gives a clear indication of how far the game had come. It had gained a name (although it was spelt "Kwidditch" at this time) and a number of organised teams, as well as titles for players and equipment. From the letter it can be seen that early Chasers were known as "Catchers", and the Bludger began its life as the "Blooder".
Kneen's letter also revealed a new innovation: using three barrels mounted on stilts to use as the goals. This was undoubtedly a massive improvement from using trees as the goals and is a clear precursor to the hoops used in the modern game. Therefore it can be seen that the sport of "Kwidditch" played by Kneen was already very similar to the game as it is played today.
The one missing element was the Golden Snitch.
Golden Snitch
The history of the Snitch is perhaps the most interesting of all the Quidditch balls, and its introduction came as the direct result of a game played in 1269 in Kent. This is over a century on from Goodwin Kneen's letter to his cousin, and it seems that during this time, the game had acquired a great deal of popularity and organisation, but had altered in its format very little. It was, however, now routinely attended by large crowds of people who wanted to watch the game.
The 1269 game mentioned above was attended by Barberus Bragge, the Chief of the Wizards' Council. As a nod to the sport of Snidget-hunting, which was also popular at the time, Bragge brought such a bird to the game and released it from its cage. He told the players that one-hundred and fifty Galleons — a large sum of money, particularly in those times — would be awarded to the player who caught the bird.
This was easier said than done: the Snidget is very fast, very small, and can make sudden changes of direction at high speeds. The considerable challenge posed by the flight patterns of the bird is what made Snidget-hunting so popular in the first place.
What happened at the Quidditch game in question was rather predictable: the players totally ignored the game, and each and every one simply went off in pursuit of the Snidget, which was kept within the arena by the crowd using Repelling Charms.
A witch named Modesty Rabnott, who was also watching the game, took pity on the Snidget and rescued it with a Summoning Charm before rushing away with it hidden inside her robes. She was caught by a furious Bragge and fined ten Galleons for disrupting the game, but not before she had released the Snidget. This saved the life of this bird, but the connection with Quidditch had been made, and soon a Snidget was being released at every game. Each team had an extra player — originally called the Hunter, later the Seeker — whose sole job was to catch and kill the Snidget, for which one-hundred and fifty points were awarded in memory of the one-hundred and fifty Galleons offered by Bragge in the original game.
The vast popularity of the sport led to quickly declining Snidget numbers, and in the middle of the 14th century it was made a protected species by the Wizards Council, now headed by Elfrida Clagg. This meant that the bird could no longer be used for Quidditch purposes, and indeed the Modesty Rabnott Snidget Reservation was created in Somerset to safeguard the Snidget's future survival.
The game of Quidditch, however, could not continue without a substitute.
Whilst most people looked for a suitable alternative bird to chase, a metal-charmer called Bowman Wright from Godric's Hollow had a different idea: he invented a fake Snidget which he called the Golden Snitch. His invention was pretty much what we see on the Quidditch pitch today: a golden ball with silver wings, the same size and weight as a real Snidget, bewitched to accurately follow its flight patterns. An additional benefit was that the ball was also charmed to stay within the playing area, removing the need for the continual use of Repelling Charms by the crowd.
The Snitch was approved as a Snidget substitute, the game of Quidditch could continue, and the modern sport as we know it was complete. All of the balls used in the modern game were now present, organised teams played against each other, and vast numbers of people came to watch. Whilst this may sound exactly like the sport as it is played today, there were still a few modifications to be made in terms of the playing pitch, and this continued to evolve until 1883 when the format of today's Quidditch pitches was finalised.
Committees
The International Confederation of Wizards' Quidditch Committee is the international body that oversees the game of Quidditch. There is also the International Association of Quidditch and the Federation Internationale de Quidditch Association (FIQA), that organised the Quidditch World Cup every four years. Quidditch is governed in Britain by the Department of Magical Games and Sports, where the British and Irish Quidditch League Headquarters are situated.
Quidditch pitches
Quidditch pitches are typically in the shape of an oval, five-hundred feet long and one-hundred and eighty feet wide, with a small central circle of approximately two feet in diameter, from which all the balls are released at the start of the game. At each end there are three hooped goal posts of different heights, surrounded by a scoring area. As Quidditch is an aerial sport, Quidditch pitches usually feature spectator seating at high vantage points, whether in towers (such as at Hogwarts) or in a fully-encircling platform style (such as the British stadium that held the 1994 Quidditch World Cup).
The three hooped goal posts that are used nowadays, were originally barrel-goals in the Sport of Warl's time. At the time of the introduction of the scoring area, they were replaced by baskets on stilts, but whilst these were practical, they did carry an inherent problem: there was no size restriction on the baskets, which differed dramatically from pitch to pitch.
Quidditch Pitch Diagram
A diagram of a 17th-century pitch, included in the book The Noble Sport of Warlocks, by Quintius Umfraville
By 1620, scoring areas had been added at each end of the pitch, and an additional rule in the game, a 'stooging penalty', meant that only one Chaser was allowed in these areas at any given time, as noted in Quintius Umfraville's book The Noble Sport of Warlocks. In addition, the size of the baskets themselves had reduced considerably, although there was still a certain amount of variation between pitches. Regulations were finally introduced in 1883 which replaced the baskets with hoops of a fixed size, and the modern Quidditch pitch was complete. Both these changes caused a considerable amount of controversy, which resulted in riots and threats against the minister.
Quidditch pitches are built in places where they will not attract Muggle attention. This began in 1398 when the wizard Zacharias Mumps emphasised the need for anti-Muggle security while playing the game: "Choose areas of deserted moorland far from Muggle habitations and make sure that you cannot be seen once you take off on your brooms. Muggle-repelling charms are useful if you are setting up a permanent pitch. It is advisable, too, to play at night." The advice of Mumps must not have always been followed as in 1362, the Wizards' Council outlawed playing Quidditch within fifty miles of a known Muggle town. This was amended in 1368, possibly due to growing popularity of the game. This amendment made the playing of the sport within one-hundred miles of a Muggle town illegal, famously worded as not to play "anywhere near any place where there is the slightest chance a Muggle is watching or we'll see how well you can play while chained to a dungeon wall."
The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy of 1692 made all Ministries of Magic responsible for the consequences of magical sports in their territories. The Department of Magical Games and Sports was created for this purpose. Quidditch teams that flouted Ministry guidelines were disbanded. One such instance was the Banchory Bangers.
Match overview
The game starts with the referee releasing all four balls from the central circle. The Bludgers and Snitch are bewitched to fly off of their own accord, but the Quaffle is thrown into the air by the referee to signal the start of play (This is similar to how the games of basketball and Gaelic football, popular Muggle sports begin by the referee throwing the ball in the air).
Since the lengths of Quidditch games are variable (some games can go on for days if the Golden Snitch is not caught) the game is not played in periods, although captains can call for a time out. Teams continue using the same goal posts to score throughout the game.
Chasers score by sending the Quaffle through any of the three goal hoops. Each goal scored is worth ten points. After a goal is scored, the opposing team's Keeper throws the Quaffle back into play.
The game only ends when the Golden Snitch is caught, or at the agreement of both team Captains. Catching the Golden Snitch is worth 150 points to the team whose Seeker made the catch. The Snitch is bewitched to respond to the first witch or wizard to make contact with it, in case there is any dispute regarding which Seeker touched it first. Despite this, there have been several instances in which the Snitch has been fumbled. The winner of the game is the team with the most points, regardless of who caught the Golden Snitch. As a result, it is possible, although difficult, to win the game even though the opposing team caught the Snitch, if your team is one hundred and sixty or more points ahead, as was the case of the final match between Ireland and Bulgaria of the 1994 Quidditch World Cup. It is never explained what happens in the event of a tie.
Positions
The game is played by two teams of seven people (three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker) and involves four balls (a Quaffle, two Bludgers, and a Golden Snitch).
The Keeper guards the goalposts, while the three Chasers score goals with the Quaffle by tossing it into one of the opposing team's three goal posts. The two Beaters keep the Bludgers away from their team and hit the Bludgers towards the opposing team, and the Seeker catches the Golden Snitch to end the game. The team whose Seeker catches the Snitch is awarded 150 points, but this does not necessarily mean they will win if the other team still has more points after the Snitch is caught.
Equipment
Quidditch gloves
Beater's bat
Quaffle
Bludger
Broomstick
Golden Snitch
Before the game can start, every player has to have a few standard things. Each player must have a Broomstick between his legs. As protection they have to wear a Quidditch helmet, Goggles, shin, knee and arm guards and Gloves. Players have their own position which make that some of the players have other equipment. For example, Beaters carry bats and Keepers wear protective head and chestgear. Each player must wear the uniform of their team in an official match, so they can see who is with who. An uniform consist of a cape and jersey. Each team's robes have their own colours and either logos or insignia. They have a special meaning to the team and their fans.
Most of the players in Great Britainbuy their equipment at Quality Quidditch Supplies, in Diagon Alley, London.
The game is played with three types of balls: the Golden Snitch, Quaffle and Bludger.
Rules
Quidditch Through the Ages
Kennilworthy Whisp's book Quidditch Through the Ages, which depicted the history of Quidditch with letters and visuals
The worldwide popularity and playing of the game of Quidditch is closely monitored and analysed by International Confederation of Wizards' Quidditch Committee
In 1750, the British Ministry of Magic set down official rules for the game of Quidditch.
Players must not stray over the boundary lines of the pitch, although they may fly as high as desired. The Quaffle must be surrendered to the opposition if any player leaves the boundary (it is unknown what the penalty is if a player on defence leaves the pitch).
"Time out" may be called at any time by the Captain of a team. Time out may be extended to two hours if a game has already lasted for more than twelve hours. Failure to return to the pitch after this time will lead to the team being disqualified.
Penalties can be awarded to teams by the referee. A single Chaser may take the penalty by flying from the central circle towards the scoring area. The opposing team's Keeper may attempt to stop the shot being scored, but all other players must not interfere (it is unknown if the Seeker may still attempt to catch the Snitch while a penalty is being attempted).
Contact is allowed, but a player may not seize hold of another player's broomstick or any part of their anatomy.
No substitution of players is allowed throughout the game, even if a player is too injured or tired to continue to play. (Note: According to Goblet of Fire, during the Quidditch World Cup, at some point it lasted for days, and the players had to be switched out so that they could get some sleep).
Players may take their wands onto the pitch, but they must not be used on or against any players, any players' broomsticks, the referee, any of the four balls, or the spectators.
A game of Quidditch will only end once the Golden Snitch has been caught, or at the mutual consent of both team Captains.
Only the Keeper can block quaffle shots thrown by the opposing team.
An amendment to the rules of Quidditch in 1849 determined that if a member of the crowd casts any spell on a player, their team would automatically forfeit the match, whether or not the team ordered or approved of the magic performed. (It is not clear how this is enforced, though, as taken literally, this rule would make it even easier to sabotage an opposing team with a false-flag attack).
Fouls
There are seven hundred Quidditch fouls listed in the Department of Magical Games and Sports records, though the entire list has never been made public (it was the department's view that some wizards and witches "might get ideas"). 90% of these are banned anyway, by the rule concerning wand use against the opposing team (or rather, lack thereof) and the remaining 10% would not occur even to the dirtiest player. There are, however, 11 common fouls, named below (names of those to whom the fouls apply in brackets):
Basic foul: A player violently blocks the Seeker from capturing the Golden Snitch
Blagging: Seizing the opponent's broom tail to slow or hinder. (All players)
Blocking: Deliberately putting oneself in the way of the opposing team's Seeker, with the intention of obstructing their way towards the Snitch
Cobbing: Excessive use of elbows towards opponents. (All players)
Flacking: Pushing any portion of anatomy through the goal hoop in an attempt to push the Quaffle out – the Keeper should defend from the front, not the rear. (Keepers only)
Snitchnip: Any player other than Seeker touching or catching the Golden Snitch. (All players but Seeker)
Blatching: Flying with the intent to collide. (All players)
Blurting: Locking broom handles with the intent to steer an opponent off course. (All players)
Bumphing: Hitting Bludgers towards spectators. (Beaters only)
Haversacking: Hand still on the Quaffle as it goes through the goal hoop – the Quaffle must be thrown through the goal. (Chasers only)
Quaffle-pocking: Tampering with the Quaffle – e.g. puncturing it so that it falls more quickly or zig-zags. (Chasers only)
Stooging: More than one Chaser entering the scoring area. (Chasers only)
During the final of the 1473 Quidditch World Cup, all seven hundred fouls were committed. These naturally included all 11 aforementioned as well as:
Copa Mundial de Quadribol 1473 (1ª Copa Mundial)
1473 Quidditch World Cup final between Transylvania and Flanders
Transfiguring of a Chaser into a polecat.
Attempted decapitation of a keeper with a broadsword.
The release of one hundred blood-sucking vampire bats from under the Transylvanian Captain's robes during the game.
Setting fire to an opponent's broom tail.
Attacking an opponent's broom with a club.
Attacking an opponent with an axe.
Tactics and moves
Over the centuries, many difficult and entertaining moves have been invented by players who constantly push themselves and the game as far as they can go. Among them are:
Body Blow: Two Chasers close in on an opposing Chaser carrying the Quaffle, and press against him from either side physically forcing him to let go of the Quaffle
Checking: It consists of intercepting the ball just when the opposing Chasers are about to make a pass.
Dopplebeater Defence: Both Beaters strike a Bludger at the same time, to double the force behind a swing.
Hawkshead Attacking Formation: Three Chasers fly in triangle shape to force other Chasers aside.
No Hands: The Seeker takes both hands off the broom in order to catch the Golden Snitch
Power Play: A large concentration of players is applied in a certain area of the pitch, in order to clear a path for the Chaser who is carrying the Quaffle.
Sloth Grip Roll: A player hangs upside down on their broomstick to avoid a Bludger.
Spiral Dive: Descend sharply, in a spiral fashion. Seekers can use this tactic to quickly intercept the Snitch.
Starfish and Stick: A Keeper holds one hand and one foot onto the broomstick, while stretching his body out, to ensure maximum shielding against oncoming Quaffles.
Twirl: Whirling about of the broomstick, in attempt to dodge something, usually either a player or a Bludger.
Wronski Feint: A Seeker from high above dives down, sharply, as if to collect the Snitch, causing the opposing Seeker to chase after him, only to pull up at the last second, causing the opposing Seeker to crash into the ground below.
Zig-Zag: A player moves in a back and forth motion to avoid bludgers and other players
Bludger Backbeat: A Beater hitting a Bludger with a back-hand swing to confuse the opposition.
Chelmondiston Charge: A Chaser stands on their broomstick and leaps, thrusting the Quaffle towards a goalpost.
Dionysus Dive: A Chaser stands on their broomstick and leaps, punching the Quaffle towards a goalpost.
Double Eight Loop: A Keeper flies in front of the three goals at high speed to block the Quaffle.
Finbourgh Flick: A Chaser uses their broomstick to hit a Quaffle in midair into a goalpost.
Parkin's Pincer: Two Chasers trap an opposing Chaser, while the third Chaser commits blatching.
Plumpton Pass: Hiding the Snitch in the Seeker's sleeve to confuse the opponents.
Porskoff Ploy: One Chaser flies upward, and then throws the Quaffle down to another Chaser directly below.
Reverse Pass: A Chaser throws the Quaffle over his or her shoulder.
Transylvanian Tackle: A fake punch to the nose to confuse the opponent (as long as contact is not made, it is not illegal).
Woollongong Shimmy: Chasers fly in a zig-zag motion to confuse opposing Chasers.
Quaffle throws
Straight Ball: a straight shot
Fast Ball: a fast, straight shot
Curve Ball: a ball that curves unpredictably
Knuckle Ball: a ball that spirals towards the goal post

World Cup
Quidditch is an amazing sport and I wanted to help Hogwarts win the World Cup. Hogwarts over the course of 969 years ever since 1050 A.D. has never won the Quidditch World Cup. 2022 is the next Quidditch World Cup and we have 2 years to prepare.
Oliver Wood: (Irish Accent) Quidditch is very easy to understand. Each team has 7 players: 3 Chasers, 2 Beaters, 1 Keeper and a Seeker. That's you J.D.
Me: This is interesting.
We were carrying a box and in it was the equipment for the game.
We opened it and in it was the balls for the game.
Oliver Wood: There are three kinds of balls. (Hands me a red ball) This one's called the Quaffle. Now the Chasers handle the Quaffle and try to put it through one of those three hoops.
I saw the three hoops.
Oliver Wood: The Keeper, that's me, defends the hoops.
Me: I understand. those two balls must be the Bludgers.
Oliver Wood: That's right. You better take this.
He hands me the Beaters bat.
Me: Okay.
I took it and he released a Bludger and I saw it and it was coming back and I bashed it with the beater bat. It went flying through a statue and didn't damage it.
Oliver Wood: Whoo. Not bad J.D. You'd make a good beater.
Me: I guess so. But here it comes.
The Bludger came back.
Oliver Wood: Uh oh.
Me: Heads up.
I grabbed it and it was a feisty one.
Me: (Grunting) Wow! Really feisty!
I put it back and he puts the brace on.
Oliver Wood: Wow! You are powerful J.D. But good work putting the bludger back.
Me: Thanks.
Oliver Wood: You're welcome. But you are the Seeker.
He opened a Hogwarts shield compartment and pulled out a little gold ball the size of a golf ball.
Oliver Wood: The only thing I want you to worry about is this. (Hands me the Gold ball) Is this. The Golden Snitch.
Me: This one is interesting.
Oliver Wood: Ah you like it now. But just wait. It's wicked fast and down near impossible to see.
Me: I guess I have to catch it.
Oliver Wood: That's right. Before the other team seeker does. You catch this, the game is over. You catch this J.D. and we win.
The Snitch spread its wings and flapped them faster than a hummingbirds wings. It flew around as fast as a bullet fired from a gun. I was ready for an awesome new sport.
Me: This is gonna be awesome for me.
I spread my wings and I was ready for an awesome Quidditch game.
At the estate, we were reading books and watching TV. I was reading books on Spells and Magic and I was reading the rules about the Quidditch match. It was something and awesome!
Lincoln: Boy that's a lot of reading J.D.
Me: I know. Quidditch is an amazing sport though. It was introduced in 1050 A.D., 969 years ago.
Lynn: Wow! It's gonna be awesome seeing you in a sport like that!
Me: I know.
Laney: I heard that you're going to help Hogwarts get the Quidditch World Cup.
Me: I sure am. It's held once every 4 years like the FIFA World Cup for Soccer. Hogwarts has never won the Quidditch World Cup. Throughout the entire history of the Quidditch World Cup, ever since 1473, Hogwarts has never won it.
Lana: That is amazing!
Lola: I can't believe that Hogwarts went 546 years without winning that!
Laney: That's like with the Chicago Cubs. They hadn't won a World Series for 108 years.
Lynn: That was a huge shock! But they finally won again back in 2016.
Me: I know. The whole country went nuts after that. But Hogwarts not winning the Quidditch World Cup is a huge shock. The Last Quidditch World Cup was held in Mexico and Spain won that one in 2018. The next Quidditch World Cup is in 2022. We have a year and a half to get ready.
Nico: Wow! That's amazing.
We then felt a massive increase in energy!
Me: Whoa!
Lana: Wow! Whoever did that really hates us.
Me: Oh that was Lila. She has been expressing incredible hatred towards us ever since we beat her and humiliated her.
Marinette: Wow. She must be watching us on TV or something.
Me: Yep. I told the Saturn Insane Asylum to make her watch our adventures over and over.
Nico: Nice!
In the Saturn Insane Asylum, Lila was watching us fight Nerissa.
Lila: (ENRAGED GROWLING) (ENRAGED SCREAMING) I HATE THAT TEAM LOUD PHOENIX STORM! I HATE THEM!
Chloe: That serves that little bitch right.
Lincoln: I agree Chloe. How's your dad doing?
Chloe: He's good Lincoln. He got released from the hospital today.
Me: I'm glad.
Marinette: My mom is doing good too. She got released too.
Me: Good. I'm glad.
Later in the afternoon, we were over in the Safari Zone and we were horseback riding on our Rapidash through it. The Safari Zone was located on the western side of the State.
Ash Ketchum: Welcome to the Safari Zone, guys.
Me: Wow! It's beautiful here.
Laney: It sure is. Look at all the plants, animals and Pokemon.
Me: I know. There's many of them.
We saw Bellsprout, Pinsir and many more.
Lana: Wow. There's a lot of Pokemon here.
Kira Ford: Yeah.
Lily Chilman: I would love to get some Pokemon myself.
Kevin Levin: You know what? Maybe I can try my hand at getting some Pokemon here.
Me: These Pokemon from what Ash told me are protected.
We walked around and it was so beautiful and peaceful.
Me: It's so beautiful here.
Liu Kang: If only me and my friends had something peaceful as this.
Me: Yeah.
We saw lots of amazing Pokemon and more and we saw the wreckage of one of Team Rocket's old schemes.
Back at the estate, Manaphy and Poromon and Horsea and Poliwag were having a double date. Lola was giving them Tea and Finger Sandwiches.
Lola: More tea Manaphy?
Manaphy: Thank you Lola.
Thunderblast saw Manaphy and Poromon having a date as well as Poliwag and Horsea doing the same thing.
Thunderblast: (giggles) Hey, Maria. Don't look now but Poliwag and Horsea are having a date here. Same with Poromon and Manaphy.
Maria saw this and she was in awe.
Maria: So cute!
In the living room Optimus Prime was watching TV and was watching the racing channel. We came back in through the door.
Optimus Prime: Did everyone have a good time at the Safari Zone?
Me: We sure did Optimus. It was awesome.
Nico: It sure was.
Lana: I'll say.
We went onto the couch and then I felt a hand grab my neck in a hold and I saw that it was Anko Mitarashi.
Anko: Hey there kid.
Me: Oh hey Anko-Sensei. Love those new torture methods I gave you?
She let go of me.
Anko: You know it J.D. Got to chop off a murderers hand for coming into our village to kill people.
Me: That's awesome!
Qin: That is really sadistic!
Anko: I don't believe I've seen you before.
Qin: Oh I'm Qin Chen. I'm Nico's childhood friend. I joined Team Loud Phoenix Storm a while ago.
Anko: Pleasure to meet you.
Me: Anko Mitarashi is one of the heads of the Hidden Leaf's Torture & Interrogation Department. She knows how to get information out of people through torturous methods.
Qin: Wow!
Anko Mitarashi: It's a good living. And I love it.
Me: She takes great pride in her work. But she is also the student of one of our most dangerous enemies that we killed in the past. It was before we formed Team Loud Phoenix Storm.
Nicole: We killed him several times actually. His name was Orochimaru.
Qin: I think I've heard about him from Naruto. He was one of the Legendary Sannin right?
Me: Exactly. He was one of the most respected shinobi until he became one of the most dangerous traitors and the greatest enemy of the Leaf since Madara Uchiha. He was also a very smart guy. They called him the Genius.
I revealed his history.
Orochimaru (in Japanese: 大蛇丸, Orochimaru) is one of the main characters in the Naruto franchise. He started off as the main antagonist in Part I of the manga and anime series Naruto, then later as a major antagonist in Part II of Naruto Shippuden. He is one of the three legendary Sannin of Konoha that trained under Hiruzen Sarutobi, alongside his former friends, Jiraiya and Tsunade.
Ever since the Second Shinobi World War, Orochimaru became fascinated with the idea of learning all jutsu around the world. In order to accomplish this goal, he began to conduct illegal experiments that involved experimenting with the corpse of deceased people, as a mean of cheating death. When his secrets were discovered, Orochimaru abandoned Konoha and was branded as both a criminal and a traitor.
Orochimaru would eventually return to Konoha and plot revenge against the village. Since then, his influence still affected the events leading to the Fourth Shinobi World War. By the end of Part II, Orochimaru saw how flawed his goals were and gave up his previous villainous ambitions.
Orochimaru was originally an orphan who became a pupil of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, alongside Jiraiya and Tsunade. Compared to the more laid back Jiraiya, Orochimaru stood out as a prodigy found once in a generation. However, Orochimaru has a twisted and sadistic personality that may have been due to the death of his parents. At some point after losing them, Orochimaru found a white snake near his parents' grave and Hiruzen explained how it represented fortune and rebirth inspiring Orochimaru to obtain knowledge of all forms of ninjutsu. This desire was initially suppressed by his loyalty to Konoha and nobleness and he devoted himself as Konoha Shinobi fully; although he still started researching, it was known for having been solely for the sake of Konoha and his village benefited from it.
During the Second Shiniobi World War, Orochimaru joined Jiraiya and Tsunade in fighting Hanzo, who gave them the title of Konoha's Legendary Sannin for surviving their battle with him while the rest of their group were easily slaughtered in the process. On the way back to Konoha with his team, Orochimaru met Nagato and his friends who were orphans in the Land of Rain. While Orochimaru suggested killing the orphans in an act of mercy, Jiraiya stayed to train the children. It was also during this war that Orochimaru succumbed to darkness as he watched Tsunade's precious ones die, due to Orochimaru holding a certain fondness for her. First was Nawaki's death. Having had high expectations of the boy, a distraught Orochimaru retrieved his necklace and gave it to Tsunade and he also criticized her for not being there to heal him. The last straw was Dan's, Tsunade's lover, death. As Orochimaru was searching for Tsunade's platoon, he found Dan dead and the broken Tsunade crying devastatingly, causing him to once again feel emotional disturbance and pain. This was the last straw and Orochimaru steadily fell to darkness.
Some time after Team Hiruzen was disbanded, Orochimaru became an ANBU member and joined Root to work directly under Danzō Shimura while becoming a mentor to Anko Mitarashi. It was during that time that Orochimaru met Kabuto Yakushi while accompanying Danzō in forcing the boy's guardian Nonō into a mission.
While Orochimaru's ambitions did include becoming the Fourth Hokage, he intended to use the title for his own agenda. Though Hiruzen knew the potential evil his former pupil had in him, he hoped to stir Orochimaru from the path before slowly realizing that Orochimaru is beyond anyone's help.
Sent on a mission by Danzo to ensure both Kabuto and Nonō, the former joining Root as a spy, kill each other as they have become major risks. Orochimaru instead spirited Kabuto to one of his many hideouts, what would become part of his personal hidden village Otogakure.
Though Orochimaru reveals Root's intention for him to be dead, he explains to a horrified Kabuto that he sees a bit of himself in the boy and sees killing him to be a waste of great talent. Therefore, Orochimaru offers Kabuto a position as his right hand and spy with the promise of an identity for Kabuto to call his own.
While working for Root, Orochimaru began an experiment to infuse Hashirama's DNA into a person, an early experiment in his attempt to gain the Sage's powers. However, he thought the experiment was a failure when all 60 babies he implanted with Hashirama's genetic code seemingly died (though there was an only survivor who became the ANBU known as Yamato). With Kabuto's assistance, he performed various experiments on his prisoners, some being fellow Konoha shinobi he kidnapped.
He uses them as human guinea pigs to develop techniques that would grant him immortality, the end result being the Transference Ritual where Orochimaru transfers his being into a host body every few years, allowing him to cheat death. Some time after, Orochimaru was at the outskirts of Kirigakure as he found Kimimaro, the sole survivor of the Kaguya Clan. Soon after, thanks in part to Kimimaro, Orochimaru's research on the source of Jūgo's powers led to him into finding Ryūchi Cave and mastering Sage Jutsu. Unable to use it because of the fragility of his host body, Orochimaru instead developed an alternate method through the Curse Marks, testing it on Anko and his other students before using the finalized versions on Kimimaro and the Sound Four.
When Hiruzen finally retired and named Minato Namikaze his successor, Orochimaru saw no more reason to remain in Konoha and began to be less discreet with his actions. This led to his experimentation on the cultivation of Hashirama Senju's DNA with sixty children he kidnapped to recreate the First Hokage's Wood Style. However, as his test subjects begin to die off, Orochimaru was found red-handed by Hiruzen who knew it was his duty to kill him yet lacked the will to do so. Leaving Konoha and his emotionally broken mentor and despite Jiraiya's pleas for him to reconsider falling on deaf ears, Orochimaru left; unaware that Yamato survived his experiment.
Orochimaru soon joined the elite criminal organization Akatsuki, his role unclear but was partnered with Sasori whom he did much good for the Akatsuki with. However, when Itachi Uchiha joined the Akatsuki after conducting the Uchiha clan massacre, Orochimaru saw his opportunity to steal his body to gain possession of the Sharingan. Itachi used his Sharingan to reverse it while cutting Orchimaru's left hand off to prevent him from breaking the genjutsu, causing him to leave the Akatsuki to acquire a new body.
Since then, with Kabuto posing as a sleeper agent that an infuriated Sasori sent to keep tabs on him, Orochimaru become an independent rogue ninja using the Hidden Sound Village to continue his experiments to achieve true immortality.
Part I
Eventually, when the chance to attack Konoha presented itself, Orochimaru forms a partnership with the Fourth Kazekage of Sunagakure, who desired Konoha's destruction, planned their invasion during the Chunin Exams. Orochimaru also used the invasion as an opportunity to test Sasuke Uchiha, Itachi's younger brother, if he can be of used as a vessel.
During the second part of the Chūnin Exams, Orochimaru murdered a team of Kusagakure genin to impersonate its leader Shiore and infiltrate the Forest of Death. During a resulting confrontation with Team 7, Orochimaru expressed pride in Sasuke's abilities after he managed to partially burn off his disguise. Orochimaru sealed Naruto's Nine-Tails chakra before branding Sasuke, his intended target, with a Cursed Mark.
As he sends Team Dosu as sacrificial lambs to test Sasuke, having Kabuto accompany Team 7 to witness Sasuke use the curse seal's power, Orochimaru is confronted by Anko as he tells her that the Konoha will continue the exams under threat of his retaliation.
During the preliminary rounds of the Chunin Exams, Orochimaru disguised himself as the leader of his genin team to watch Sasuke's performance against Yoroi Akadō and became more obsessive upon seeing Sasuke suppress the Cursed Mark with sheer will. After Kakashi was able to seal away the mark on Sasuke, Orochimaru confronted him and made no attempt to hide his envy of Kakashi's Sharingan before leaving while adding that Sasuke will eventually come to him seeking power.
Eventually, on the day of the final round matches, with all attack preparations complete, Orochimaru murdered the Fourth Kazekage and assumed his identity to sit next to Hiruzen to oversee the proceedings. When the invasion of Konoha began, Orochimaru made his move and attacked Hiruzen. Orochimaru has the Sound Four erect a barrier to hold the other Konoha ninja back to prevent any interference.
Orochimaru, exhilarated that he could finally fight his former teacher and Hiruzen intending to redeem himself for letting Orochimaru free; Orochimaru used the Reanimation Jutsu to summon Hashirama Senju and his brother, the Second Hokage Tobirama, to attack their successor. During the fight, his opponent summoning Enma to his aid, Orochimaru reveals to Hiruzen the fruits of his labor in achieving immortality by revealing the host body he took after his brush-in with Itachi and his intention to make Sasuke into his next host.
Horrified on how far Orochimaru has truly went and with both his age and the regenerative abilities of the two first Hokage placing him in a grand disadvantage, Hiruzen resolves to stop Orochimaru with the Reaper Death Seal, sealing away the souls of the two Hokage prior to going after Orochimaru himself. However, Orochimaru stabbed Hiruzen through the back of the chest with his Kusanagi. Hiruzen weakened, Orochimaru is horrified when his mentor resolves to only seal the part of Orochimaru's soul within his arms so Orochimaru could make any more seals. Cursing the dying Hiruzen for robbing him of his use of ninjutsu, Orochimaru is carried off by the Sound Four with the invasion halted. Afterwards, Sunagakure broke ties with Orochimaru upon discovering the corpse of the Fourth Kazekage.
After barely being able to stand the pain from his rotting arms, Orochimaru plans to have his condition healed by appealing Tsunade with the offer to reincarnate her brother Nawaki and lover Dan to win her cooperation. However, though she seemed to have agreed, Tsunade had actually intended to kill him to ensure he never attacks Konoha again.
Kabuto intervened before she could do so, intending to force her to help before Jiraiya, Shizune and Naruto soon arrived to her aid. After seeing Naruto defeat Kabuto, Orochimaru's attempt on the boy's life is stopped by Tsunade and Orochimaru summons Manda with Kabuto's help, hiding his condition from the giant serpent who would have turned on Orochimaru for being injured. Jiraiya and Tsunade response with their own summons and an epic battle ensues.
Forced to fall back, though hoping to go after him when he was older, Orochimaru decides to just take a new host body and sends the Sound Four to retrieve Sasuke. Due to complications as the Leaf Village attempted to recover Sasuke, despite Kimimaro going to aid the Sound Four, Orochimari is forced to take the body of a experimental prisoner named Gen'yūmaru. As he is stuck in Gen'yūmaru's body for the next three years, Orochimaru decided to start training Sasuke once he finally arrived, hoping to shape him into the ideal host, while being highly impressed and excited by the chakra that Sasuke revealed after retaliating against Kabuto's warning for being rude.
Part II
2.5 years later, Yamato-led Team Kakashi, hoping to find Sasuke, learned of an opportunity from a dying Sasori that he was meeting with Kabuto. Posing as Sasori within his Hiruko puppet, the group's temporary leader Yamato meets with Kabuto while the others watch. However, Orochimaru arrives as Kabuto destroys the Hiruko, Orochimaru clarifying to a confused Kabuto that Sasori never came as the rest of Team Kakashi reveal themselves to fight the two ninja. Although he was surprised to see Yamato has survived his experiments involving Hashirama's DNA, Orochimaru was more interested to see if Naruto has become as strong as "his Sasuke". As Naruto assumes his three-tailed form in response, Orochimaru is able to elude Naruto, finding the battle extremely enjoyable while provoking Naruto further.
It was only after Naruto submitted to Kurama's influence and entered his mindless four-tailed form, Orochimaru took the fight more seriously due to both Naruto now able to kill him and his host body beginning to reject him after he used his Kusanagi to force Naruto. While he briefly recuperated, Orochimaru was approached by Sai, who made an offer on behalf of Danzo to work together in destroying Konoha. Intrigued, Orochimaru and Kabuto took him back to their base. Later, after the rest of Team Kakashi arrived at the lair and Sai teamed up with them, Orochimaru confronted Sai and Naruto to question Sai about his loyalties. He fled before he could be drawn into another fight, and later kept Sasuke from killing the team, noting that they might kill another Akatsuki member like they had done with Sasori.
Later, on the verge of being rejected by his current body, Orochimaru contemplated how best to take Sasuke's body. However, he hadn't truly planned on foul play from Sasuke, who no longer needs him. Though Sasuke used the Curse Mark to have the upper hand against his White Snake form, Orochimaru placed Sasuke into a genjutsu to enact the ritual. However, Sasuke uses Orochimaru's jutsu against him and ironically altered it so that Orochimaru would become a prisoner within Sasuke's body. As a result, Sasuke gained access to some of Orochimaru's abilities. However, he also had to dedicate some of his chakra to suppressing Orochimaru.
During his battle with Itachi, Sasuke ran out of chakra, and Orochimaru was able to emerge through his Eight-Headed Serpent Jutsu. Appearing out of one of the Serpent's mouths, Orochimaru's chance to take Sasuke's body is thwarted by Itachi using his Susanoo's Totsuka Blade and sealed Orochimaru inside his Susanoo's Gourd, which in turn freed Sasuke from the Curse mark. However, many of the snakes that composed Orochimaru's body endured as Kabuto harvested them and assimilated them into his body as part of his intent to transcend his former master. Following Kabuto's defeat during the Fourth Shinobi World War, and his reunion with Suigetsu Hozuki and Jūgo, Sasuke learns of the scroll they found at one of Orochimaru's hideouts and resolves to revive him for answers following what he learned from Itachi.
Having learned that Curse Marks hold parts of their creator's mind in them, Sasuke succeeds in reviving Orochimaru by pulling his consciousness out of Anko's Curse Mark and transferring it into the physical form Jūgo provided by absorbing some of Kabuto's flesh. Despite Suigetsu's fears of his next action as he reclaims the rest of his chakra that Kabuto took from him, Orochimaru explains that he is neither interested in the Fourth Shinobi World War nor strong enough to even attempt to take Sasuke's body if he wanted to. But Orochimaru does agree to take Sasuke to those who know everything: the first four Hokage. To that end, Orochimaru is forced to mortally wound himself to break the Reaper Death Seal, releasing not only the Hokage's souls but also spiritually restoring himself to use the Reanimation Jutsu on four of the Zetsu spore clones while using the Transference Ritual on another.
With them under his control, stating to them that he not acting on his own intent, Orochimaru tells the Hokage that he plans to have them destroy Konoha if Sasuke deems it so after getting Hashirama's answer. During Sasuke's interview with the four Hokage, he derides his former sensei for failing to stop him before, as well as makes the conversation go his way by pinning the blame of the Uchiha Massacre on Tobirama Senju's policies. However, when Sasuke decided to support Konoha against Madara, he tagged along for his own amusement to see how Sasuke turned out, as well as keep the possibility of his own experiments continuing an option. To this end he had Suigetsu and Karin save the Gokage after their battle with Madara, even insulting Tsunade to her face when she asked why he was doing this by claiming 'given time, Jiraiya may have turned dark'.
Later, when he arrived on the battlefield he joined the battle against the Shinju itself, and finally against Spiral Zetsu. However, despite his intentions, Madara successfully cast Infinite Tsukuyomi and ensnared Orochimaru into the fantasy that he was trying to avoid. Ultimately, he and the rest of the world were freed from the genjutsu by Naruto and Sasuke after they ended the war.
With the Fourth Shinobi World War over, Orochimaru resumes his genetic experiments with Taka serving as his lab assistants, though Konoha remains suspicious of him and keeps him under constant surveillance.
Qin gasped in horror!
Qin: I can't believe he would do that! Why would he do that to Anko and thousands of innocent people!?
Me: Powerlust and pure evil. He's a Homicidal Megalomaniacal Pedophilic Freak.
Anko: Oh yeah. And you guys came up with a good nickname for him.
Me: Naruto did actually. We call him Pedomaru.
We laughed hysterically at his nickname.
Nico: (Laughs) That was a good name!
Lana: That is so funny!
Anko: (Laughs Hysterically) That was so funny! Nice name for him kid!
Naruto: Thanks Anko-Sensei.
Me: It was funny bro.
Aurore: (Laughs) That was really amusing.
Nico: It sure was.
Then the alarm went off.
Me: Uh oh.
We went to the computer and we saw that there was something going on at the gym.
Me: There's a disturbance in the Gym. Lets go!
We went to the Gotham Royal York Gym.
GOTHAM ROYAL YORK GYM
We were in the Gym and we were in the Hockey Court.
Me: The Hockey Court. The Disturbance is coming from here.
Nico: Yeah.
?: Soon you will be with me.
We turned and we saw a hooded man and his face was hidden.
Me: Who are you?
Jake The Snake: Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jake "The Snake". (Hisses)
His face appeared and it had glowing blue fangs like a snake and his eyes were glowing blue! We saw that his skin was reptilian and he was ugly!
Me: What the fuck are you!?
Laney: What happened to you!?
Jake the Snake: I wasn't always like this. Let me tell you my story.
Jake told us his story.
Zach and his friend Wiley were trying out for the school hockey team, but Wiley just wasn't as skilled as his friend was. After the first day of tryouts, Wiley met up with Jake in the basement. Jake handed his cursed hockey stick to Wiley, promising him it would help him play better. The powers of the stick granted Wiley uncanny abilities, which ended up earning him a position on the hockey team that otherwise might have gone to Zach. That night, while Wiley slept, the stick turned into a cobra, which proceeded to bite him. Wiley suddenly started getting scales on his body and started shedding profusely. On top of that, he also suddenly became distant with Zach and started to think like a snake. The next time Wiley decided to meet Jake in the basement, he asked about the scales. Desmond told Wiley not to worry and that he had to keep using the stick if he wanted to play well.
But Zach had followed Wiley and decided to confront Jake, who now was more snake than man as he had been the very first to use the cursed hockey stick. Jake plotted to make Wiley his newest addition to the pit of snakes. Zach tried to warn Wiley about Jake's intent, but to no avail. After a struggle, Zach made off with the stick and tried to return it to Jake. But Jake captured Zach and suspended him above the pit of snakes, intent on making him their next meal. Wiley showed up, having reclaimed the sitck, and saw Desmond's hideous form and Zach being lowered into the pit. Using the stick, Wiley hits Jake with a hockey puck, knocking the creature into the pit amongst the squirming reptiles. But Wiley's final transformation begins shortly thereafter. Zach proceeds to snap the stick upon his knee, causing it to become a cobra. Zach destroys the cobra by throwing it into the basement furnace. Wiley reverted back to normal since the transformation was incomplete.
Shortly after Zach and Wiley left, Desmond's hand could be seen emerging from the pit.
Me: You're a freak!
Lana: You're a monster! I can't believe you would do this to so many people!
Our friend Zach then appeared.
Zach: That's right! And he tried to get Willie the 1st time! He turned him into a snake!
Me: What!?
Zach: We thought he died.
Me: Well now he is going to die. How do you kill a snake? By chopping its head off!
Kevin (EEnE): I'm confused. Are we going after a snake monster or a hockey stick monster?
Varie: Obviously both.
Maria: So all we gave to do is destroy the hockey stick, right?
Muscle Man: You know who else likes breaking hockey sticks? My Mom!
Troy: Let's give this snake something to bite on!
Megaforce Rangers: Legendary Ranger Mode: Secret 5 Force!
The Megaforce Rangers turned into the Secret 5 Sentai from 1975.
Zach (to Jake Desmond): Undo what you did to Wiley now!
Jake The Snake: NEVER!
Me: Then we will make you!
We went at him and I punched him in the face and Nico punched him in the stomach and kicked him in the face and punched him in the chest and ripped his cloak off. What we saw was horrifying! We saw that he was really a humanoid snake alien called a SERPENTERRAN! He was a full fledge snake humanoid! He had a snake face, a cobra hood, reptilian skin and the lower half of his body was a snakes!
Me: Whoa! He's all snake!
Shanan: Wow! He's a Serpenterran!
Ben: That's Snakepit's Species!
Nico: Whoa!
Riley: I've never seen Ben turn into him.
Lana: What planet do they come from?
Shanan: They come from the jungle planet Serpennus. It's a very dangerous world. The atmosphere is poisonous to human life and it is full of incredibly dangerous predatory animals and the jungles are so dense and really thick that light from its 3 suns can't get through.
Nico: Wow. That world must be dangerous.
Me: Like Pandora. But the question Jake, is how did you manage to become a great hockey player, let alone hide your true form from everyone?
Jake the Snake: I was in disguise. I made the curse with Serpenterran Magic and it was what destroyed my disguise. I was a great hockey player because of the stick yes. But the spell I used on it backfired and made my true form hidden. For years I've worn that cloak and turned people into my friends.
Me: You're a monster!
Nico: You give snakes and hockey players a really bad name!
Me: Lets get him!
We went at him again and I punched him in the face and stomach and Lana grabbed him by his tail and slammed him into the floor all over. Lola fired a blast of fire and burned him all over and Laney used her vines to tie him in vines and she slammed him into the ground.
Edzilla: ED SMASH SNAKE MAN! (grabs Jake the Snake by the throat)
Edzilla slammed him into the floor.
Me: Time for the Wolf to attack!
Kibal: With you all the way J.D.!
Me: Kibal! Lets Howl!
I turned into Wolf Moon!
Me: Time for some serious hockey action guys! Lets show this overgrown snakeskin wallet what true hockey is like!
Everyone: Yeah!
(LORENZEN'S SOIL THEME OF EARTHWORM JIM 2 PLAYS)
I jumped and turned my boots into roller skates. Everyone did the same.
I turned my scythe into a Hockey Stick and Lynn brought out a puck and we played. I got the puck and went at Jake and I flared up my scythe and slapped the puck and it hit Jake in the face and it knocked out some of his teeth. The puck was hit by Jake and Troy Burrows formed a Red Hockey Stick and slapped the puck and it hit Jake in the head. Noah Carver got the puck and passed it to Jake Halling and he passed the puck to Emma Goodall and she passed it to Gia Moran and she passed it to Orion. They sent the Puck all over in a hexagon formation and increased its speed and power and then Troy Burrows slapped it and it went at Jake the Snake faster than a bullet fired from a gun and it hit his hockey stick and shattered it into a million pieces and then it hit him and exploded.
