"Can I help you?" the young woman behind the counter asked.

JJ bit his lip. "You do magic, right? I mean, your ad online says you do."

"It depends what you consider magic. Mostly what I make are herbal remedies, but I do minor spells to dispel bad luck, find lost items, discourage stalkers, things like that."

"How about love spells, can you do those?"

"If you mean something to make someone fall head over heels in love with you against their will, then no. Love isn't something anyone should mess with; you can't make someone love you, and even if you could, you'd always know it wasn't real. Neither of you would ever be happy. I'm sorry."

"That's what I figured," JJ murmured, shoulders slumping. "But how about the reverse? Could you make me stop loving someone who doesn't love me back? It hurts so much, loving him and knowing he doesn't feel the same way. I wish I could forget him, but we work together almost every day. It never gets any easier."

The woman smiled kindly. "I think maybe I can help you with that. No one should have to suffer unrequited love. A variation on the anti-stalking spell should do the trick. I'll mix up a potion that you should take once a day for two weeks, and you'll need an amulet to wear or carry with you at all times. Hold it in your left hand whenever you're in the presence of this man you want to stop loving and tell yourself you don't love him, what you feel for him is just an illusion. Can you do that?"

"Yes, I'll do whatever it takes. I don't want to waste any more of my life on someone I'll never have."

"Good. You're halfway there already."
