Dee and Ryo were NOT traffic police, they were detectives whose job it was to bring the perpetrators of violent crimes to justice. Under normal circumstances, an incident like this wouldn't have even registered on their radar, except for the fact that they'd been right there and seen the whole thing.

The irony was that like the drivers of the other two cars, they'd just been trying to find a vacant space in a packed parking lot, hoping to grab something for lunch on their way back to the precinct. Now it looked like they'd be spending their lunch break sorting this mess out.

One empty spot, and two drivers both determined to claim it for themselves, had unsurprisingly proved a recipe for disaster. Both drivers had gunned their engines, attempting to beat each other to the prize, resulting in a collision that had wrecked several parked cars as well as their own vehicles.

Hurriedly radioing for assistance and tow trucks, the partners exited their vehicle and approached the drivers, getting between them and flashing their badges before they could do more than scream curses at each other.

"You're both under arrest for reckless endangerment, property damage, speedin', causin' a disturbance, probably a few other things as well, and believe me when I say we're gonna throw the book at both of ya. With any luck, you'll both lose your licences, 'cause idiots like you aren't safe behind the wheel of a car." Dee had to raise his voice to be heard over the yelling.

Ryo slapped his cuffs on one of the drivers. "If you'd waited a few minutes another parking spot would have opened up," he pointed out.

"I was in a hurry!"

"And see how well that worked out." Ryo shoved his captive towards the unmarked police sedan while Dee dragged his towards a cruiser than was just pulling up. "The only place you're going now is central booking. You'll be stuck in lock-up at least overnight, arraigned tomorrow if you're lucky, maybe be out on bail in a couple of days, but with no car and your driving licence suspended."

"He should'a let me have the spot, then none of this would'a happened!"

"The other driver's probably saying the same thing about you." Ryo shoved the man into the backseat as Dee joined them.

"Gives a whole knew meanin' to the term Space Race, don't it?"
