"This is supposed to be July," Dee complained, pulling his coat tighter around himself.
"It IS July." Ryo sounded amused.
"Doesn't feel like it. This time last year, we were roastin' our asses off in the middle of a heatwave; now here we are, bundled up like it's the middle of winter."
"You're exaggerating, Dee. It's not that bad."
"Says you. I can hardly feel my nose."
"Must be an altitude thing," Ryo teased, not even trying to hide his grin.
"Funny guy. I'm just sayin', shouldn't haveta be wearin' our winter coats in summer."
"There's a weather system coming in from the north, bringing lower temperatures and rain. We should be grateful it's put out the wildfires further north so we're not having to deal with the smoke anymore."
"Yeah, I guess. Still doesn't mean I'm enjoyin' the windchill."
"There's nothing anyone can do about it though." Ryo was as pragmatic as ever. "All we can do is put up with it until the weather improves. Besides, I seem to remember you complaining last year that it was too hot."
Dee laughed at that. "I wasn't the only one. It's human nature; we never want the weather we've got."
