Dee watched, wide-eyed, as meteors streaked across the sky. It was a spectacular sight, and one he never would have imagined if he wasn't seeing it for himself. Having lived in a city most of his life, the first time he'd gone camping with Ryo he'd been amazed at how bright the stars were when not drowned out by light pollution. Not only that, but there were so many more than he'd ever realised, and now he was getting another surprise.

"When ya said meteor shower, I wasn't expectin' anythin' so incredible! Figured maybe we'd see a couple, if we were lucky and happened to be lookin' in the right direction, but…" Dee trailed off, shaking his head in wonder, his eyes never straying from the dazzling display.

"Changed your tune a bit," Ryo said with a grin. Dee hadn't wanted to go camping in August, saying it was too hot and they'd be better off spending a few days somewhere with a beach so they could laze around when they weren't swimming. The idea of hiking up into the mountains hadn't appealed to him, sounding too much like hard work.

"Yeah, well, ya never said it would be like this! The sky's full of 'em, too many to count, and they're so fast! How's anyone supposed to pick one and wish on it?"

Ryo laughed. "You've always said you're not superstitious!"

"Wishin' on fallin' stars isn't superstition, it's more like tradition. Maybe I'll just wish on all of 'em."
