At the World Tree Estate, Nico and everyone was watching TV and playing card games. With them was the awesome brother and sister hero duo: Cow and Chicken. They are funny and awesome.
Nico: (to Chicken) Chicken, I'd like to thank you and Cow for joining us today.
Chicken: Anytime Nico and we always get a great thrill out of all your adventures.
Cow: They are awesome! And we love how you all save the day and all. Want some milk?
Nico: Yes please.
Cow squeezed her udder and poured him some fresh milk as she mooed.
Nico: Thanks.
Nico drank it and he was refreshed.
Nico: Ahh. That was delicious!
Varie: Refreshing.
Nico: Yep. J.D. and Zarya are heading to India. Can't wait to see what they will do there.
Computer: Visitor on surface. It's Lieutenant Kellyway.
Nico: Oh great. Wonder what he wants.
Nico got up and went to the elevator.
Aqua Man (Mega Man): Where are you going, Nico?
Nico: An uninvited guest has shown up.
Nico took the elevator and he got down to the ground and he was facing Lieutenant Kellaway.
Nico: Kellaway you son of a fucking bitch!
Kellaway: So you know why I'm here?
Nico: Out of your jurisdiction.
Kellaway: Shut up.
Nico: Make me.
Everyone else came down.
Kellaway: I'm surprised J.D.'s not here.
Nico: He and Zarya are... occupied at the moment.
Kellaway: If you have something to say, then spit it out.
Nico: People seem to think we should have a heart to heart.
Kellaway: Well, other people seem to think I don't have a heart. Where does that leave us?
Nico: Look, I've got a dozen reasons for killing you. You've got a dozen and one for killing me. So...
Kellaway: All the talk in the world's not gonna change a thing.
Chicken: Exactly. But you should know that Stanley Ipkiss is the Mask.
Kellaway: What?!
Cow: He's in a room somewhere in the Estate.
Nico: Now, here's my proposal. We go outside and let our fists do the talking.
Kellaway: What happens if I beat you?
Nico: You kill me and arrest Stanley for everything he's done as the Mask.
Kellaway: And if you beat me, I guess I go to one of your prisons.
Nico: Do we have a deal?
Kellaway: Sound the bell.
Laney: Do it.
DING!
Applejack sounded the bell and they went at each other and ferociously pulverized each other.
Kellaway punched Nico in the face and kicked him in the stomach and punched him in the face and knocked out one of his teeth and Nico kicked and punched Kellaway all over and knocked him down and he got up.
Kellaway: STUPID SHIT!
He punched Nico in the face.
Kellaway: I FUCKING HATE YOU!
He kicked Nico in his face.
Kellaway: Look in my eyes Chan! I'll see you in hell!
Nico: Not if I take you with me!
Nico kicked and pulverized Kellaway all over brutally.
POW! POW! KROW! SMASH!
They brutally pulverized each other for over 74 minutes and it was brutal! When they stopped, Nico was on the ground.
Nico was on the ground all beaten up as Kellaway was about to deliver the finishing blow. But for some reason, he hesitated and then sat on the ground, unsure of what he was doing.
Nico: (weakly) We had a deal, Kellaway. Kill me and you get to arrest Stanley.
Dirge: It's what you wanted, isn't it, to finally arrest the Mask for everything he's done?
Kellaway stood down and sighed.
Kellaway: No Nico. You win this one.
Nico got up and his injuries healed.
Nico: Sabretooth's accelerated healing.
Kellaway: You win Nico.
Kellaway stood up.
Nico: Bastard.
G1 Blades: (to Kellaway) It's best if we keep this understanding between us from J.D. and Zarya. Because I doubt J.D. will be merciful if he ever sees you again.
Kellaway: I think that's fair.
Maria: (glares at Nico) Now, if you excuse us, we have to give our temporary leader a good talking to for pulling this stupid move!
Nico gulped in fear.
POW!
Nico got punched in the face by May!
DING!
Nico then got kicked in the crotch by Maria!
Lincoln and some of the girls winced at that.
Lincoln: OOH! That's gonna leave a mark!
Vince: YIKES!
Eli: OUCH!
Later over in England, everyone was with the Mystery Inc. gang.
Nico: Hey, Shaggy. What mystery are we going on this time?
Shaggy: Like, we're about to find out.
Fred: (sees me beaten up) What happened to you, Nico?
Coconuts: Let's just say that some of us had to remind Nico not to put himself in a position where he gets beaten to near death.
May: Yeah.
Laney: It's an ugly story.
Eli: But if I see Kellyway again I am gonna have his head slashed off with my lightsaber. (Ignites lightsaber)
Nunnally: J.D. will kill Kellaway for this.
Nico: He sure will.
Shaggy: Like yeah!
Scooby Doo: Reah!
They arrived in the small town of Norville de Morgana. It was a town that is said to be the site where Camelot was over 1,500 years ago. And it's also the site where Shaggy's medieval ancestor Sir Norville killed the evil Sorceress Morgan Le Fay! They read the story about it and it was incredible.
Nico: Wow! Shaggy we had no idea you were descended from knighthood in the ancient Arthurian Legend.
Laney: That is so cool!
Lola: Wow! Your ancestor is a great hero Shaggy.
Nico: And I'll bet he had your ginormous appetite too.
Shaggy: He might have! Like wow. I had no idea I was descended from a great ancestor.
Lana: That is so cool!
Hunter: (German Accent) Ja! Und it's quite an ancestry.
Edwayl: (Breton Accent) It sure is lad.
Chloe Nicholson: That is amazing.
On the Mobile Sky Fortress as me and Zarya were heading to India, we were watching TV.
Me: So far things have been quiet.
Zarya: What's on the news?
Me: Lets see.
I changed it to the news and it showed Nico getting the living shit beaten out of him by Lieutenant Kellaway! I was shocked and mad.
Me: That son of a fucking bitch! I will make sure he hangs for this.
I called the bounty hunting department and put a huge hit out on Lieutenant Kellaway and put a price on him of $500,000,000,000.00. Double if Dead.
Zarya: You think they will go after him?
Me: I sure do. And I hope Kellaway made his will.
Zarya: No one hurts us and gets away with it.
Hank Scorpio, Larxene, Xaldin, Mer Man, Condiment King, Bonz, Duskmon, and Cluemaster then appeared.
Hank Scorpio: (to me) Can me, Larxene, Xaldin, Merman, Condiment King, Bonz, Duskmon, and Cluemaster go with you and Zarya this time?
Me: You all sure can. We're going to India. 🇮🇳
Condiment King: Awesome! India is amazing.
Larxene: It sure is and we have 2 more members of the Midnight 13 to take down.
Me: We sure do.
Xaldin: Did you guys also put a hit on Kellaway?
Me: Yep for beating the living shit out of Nico.
Larxene: Wow. I hope that son of a fucking bitch gets what's coming to him.
Me: Yep.
Back in England it was time to solve a mystery.
Blackarachnia: So, Fred. What's our mystery this time?
Fred: We're solving a mystery of Shaggy's ancestry here in England and we're also going to solve the mystery of Camelot.
Velma: I think it's all illusions to me.
Nico: Camelot is amazing. I've read so much about it. What did you guys find out so far?
Daphne: We found out that Shaggy is the descendant of a heroic knight that saved Camelot and King Arthur from the evil sorceress Morgan Le Fay.
Brittney: Oh man! Morgan Le Fay was not just an evil sorceress. She was THE evil Sorceress.
Brittney went over her history.
Morgan le Fay is a powerful enchantress in the Arthurian legend. Early appearances of Morgan do not elaborate her character beyond her role as a goddess, a fay, a witch, or a sorceress, generally benevolent and related to King Arthur as his magical saviour and protector. Her prominence increased over time, as did her moral ambivalence, and in some texts there is an evolutionary transformation of her to an antagonist, particularly as portrayed in cyclical prose such as the Lancelot-Grail and the Post-Vulgate Cycle. A significant aspect in many of Morgan's medieval and later iterations is the unpredictable duality of her nature, with potential for both good and evil.
Her character may have been rooted in Welsh mythology as well as other earlier myths and historical figures. The earliest account, by Geoffrey of Monmouth in Vita Merlini, refers to Morgan in conjunction with the Isle of Apples (Avalon), which is where Arthur was carried after being fatally wounded in the Battle of Camlann. There, and in the early chivalric romances by Chrétien de Troyes and others, her chief role is that of a great healer. It is Chrétien who establishes her as Arthur's supernatural elder sister.
In the Robert de Boron-derived French prose versions and the works based on them, including among them Thomas Malory's influential Le Morte d'Arthur, she is usually described as the youngest daughter of Arthur's mother, Igraine, and her first husband, Gorlois. Arthur, son of Igraine and Uther, is Morgan's half-brother; the Queen of Orkney is one of Morgan's sisters and Mordred's mother. Morgan unhappily marries Urien with whom she has a son, Yvain. She becomes an apprentice of Merlin, and a capricious and vindictive adversary of some knights of the Round Table, all the while harbouring a special hatred for Arthur's wife Guinevere. In this tradition, she is also sexually active and even predatory, taking numerous lovers that may include Merlin and Accolon, with an unrequited love for Lancelot. In some variants, including the popular retelling by Malory, Morgan is the greatest enemy of Arthur, scheming to usurp his throne, indirectly becoming an instrument of his death; however, she eventually reconciles with Arthur, retaining her original role of taking him on his final journey to Avalon.
Many other medieval and Renaissance works feature continuations of her evolutionary tale from the aftermath of Camlann as she becomes the immortal queen of Avalon in both Arthurian and non-Arthurian stories, sometimes alongside Arthur. After a period of being largely absent from modern culture, Morgan's character again rose to prominence in the 20th and 21st centuries, appearing in a wide variety of roles and portrayals.
The earliest spelling of the name (found in Geoffrey of Monmouth's Vita Merlini, written c. 1150) is Morgen, which is likely derived from Old Welsh or Old Breton Morgen, meaning "Sea-born" (from Common Brittonic *Mori-genā, the masculine form of which, *Mori-genos, survived in Middle Welsh as Moryen or Morien; a cognate form in Old Irish is Muirgen, the name of a Celtic Christian shapeshifting female saint who was associated with the sea). The name is not to be confused with the unrelated Modern Welsh masculine name Morgan (spelled Morcant in the Old Welsh period). As her epithet "le Fay" (invented in the 15th century by Thomas Malory from the earlier French la fée, "the fairy"; Malory would also use the form "le Fey" alternatively with "le Fay") and some traits indicate, the figure of Morgan appears to have been a remnant of supernatural females from Celtic mythology, and her main name could be connected to the myths of Morgens (also known as Mari-Morgans or just Morgans), the Welsh and Breton fairy water spirits related to the legend of Princess Dahut (Ahes). While many later works make Morgan specifically human, she retains her magical powers, and sometimes also her otherworldly if not divine attributes. In fact she is often referred to as either a Fairy Queen or outright a goddess (dea, déesse, gotinne) by authors.
Geoffrey's description of Morgen and her sisters in the Vita Merlini closely resembles the story of the nine Gaulish priestesses of the isle of Sena (now Île de Sein) called Gallisenae (or Gallizenae), as described by the geographer Pomponius Mela during the first century, strongly suggesting that Pomponius' Description of the World (De situ orbis) was one of Geoffrey's prime sources. Further inspiration for her character likely came from Welsh folklore and medieval Irish literature and hagiography. Speculatively, beginning with Lucy Allen Paton in 1904, Morgan has been connected with the Irish shapeshifting and multifaced goddess of strife known as the Morrígan ("Great Queen"). Proponents of this have included Roger Sherman Loomis, who doubted the Muirgen connection. Possible influence by elements of the classical Greek mythology sorceresses or goddesses such as Circe and especially Medea, and other magical women from the Irish mythology such as the mother of hero Fráech, as well as historical figure of Empress Matilda, have been also suggested. A chiefly Greek construction is a relatively new origin theory by Carolyne Larrington. One of the proposed candidates for the historical Arthur, Artuir mac Áedán, was recorded as having a sister named Maithgen (daughter of king Áedán mac Gabráin, a 6th-century king of Dál Riata), whose name also appears as that of a prophetic druid in the Irish legend of Saint Brigid of Kildare.
Morgan has also been often linked with the supernatural mother Modron, derived from the continental mother goddess figure of Dea Matrona and featured in medieval Welsh literature. Modron appears in Welsh Triad 70 ("Three Blessed Womb-Burdens of the Island of Britain") – in which her children by Urien are named Owain mab Urien (son) and Morfydd (daughter) – and a later folktale have recorded more fully in the manuscript Peniarth 147. A fictionalised version of the historical king Urien is usually Morgan le Fay's husband in the variations of Arthurian legend informed by continental romances, wherein their son is named Yvain. Furthermore, the historical Urien had a treacherous ally named Morcant Bulc who plotted to assassinate him, similar to how Morgan attempts to kill Urien. Additionally, Modron is called "daughter of Afallach", a Welsh ancestor figure also known as Avallach or Avalloc, whose name can also be interpreted as a noun meaning "a place of apples"; in the tale of Owain and Morfydd's conception in Peniarth 147, Modron is called the "daughter of the King of Annwn", a Celtic Otherworld. This evokes Avalon, the marvelous "Isle of Apples" with which Morgan has been associated since her earliest appearances, and the Irish legend of the otherworldly woman Niamh including the motif of apple in connection to Avalon-like Otherworld isle of Tír na nÓg ("Land of Youth").
According to Gerald of Wales in De instructione principis, a noblewoman and close relative of King Arthur named Morganis carried the dead Arthur to her island of Avalon (identified by him as Glastonbury), where he was buried. Writing in the early 13th century in Speculum ecclesiae, Gerald also claimed that "as a result, the fanciful Britons and their bards invented the legend that some kind of a fantastic goddess (dea quaedam phantastica) had removed Arthur's body to the Isle of Avalon, so that she might cure his wounds there," for the purpose of enabling the possibility of King Arthur's messianic return. In his encyclopaedic work Otia Imperialia, written around the same time and with similar derision for this belief, Gervase of Tilbury calls that mythical enchantress Morganda Fatata (Morganda the Fairy). Morgan retains this role as Arthur's otherworldly healer in much of later tradition.
Medieval and Renaissance literature
Morgan first appears by name in Vita Merlini, written by Norman-Welsh cleric Geoffrey of Monmouth. Purportedly an account of the life of Merlin, it elaborates some episodes from Geoffrey's more famous earlier work, Historia Regum Britanniae (1136). In Historia, Geoffrey relates how King Arthur, gravely wounded by Mordred at the Battle of Camlann, is taken off to the blessed Isle of Apple Trees (Latin Insula Pomorum), Avalon, to be healed; Avalon (Ynys Afallach in the Welsh versions of Historia) is also mentioned as the place where Arthur's sword Excalibur was forged. (Geoffrey's Arthur does have a sister, whose name here is Anna, but the possibility of her being a predecessor to Morgan is unknown.) In Vita Merlini, Geoffrey describes this island in more detail and names Morgen as the chief of the nine magical queen sisters who dwell there, ruling in their own right. Morgen agrees to take Arthur, delivered to her by Taliesin to have him revived, but says it might take a long time. She and her sisters are capable of shapeshifting and flying ("like Daedalus, on strange wings"), and (at least seemingly) use their powers only for good. Morgen is also said to be a learned mathematician and to have taught astronomy to her fellow nymph (nymphae) sisters, whose names are Moronoe, Mazoe, Gliten, Glitonea, Gliton, Tyronoe, Thiten and Thiton. In creating this Virgin Mary-type character and her sisters, Geoffrey might have been influenced by the first-century Roman cartographer Pomponius Mela, who has described an oracle at the Île de Sein off the coast of Brittany and its nine virgin priestesses believed by the continental Celtic Gauls to have the power to cure disease and perform various other awesome magic, such as controlling the sea through incantations, foretelling the future, and changing themselves into any animal.
According to a theory postulated by R. S. Loomis, Geoffrey was not the original inventor of Morgan's character, which had already existed in hypothetical unrecorded stories of her as Arthur's fairy saviour, or even also his fairy godmother (her earliest shared supernatural ability being able to traverse on or under water). Such stories being told by wandering storytellers (as credited by Gerald of Wales) would then influence various authors writing independently from each other, especially since Vita Merlini was a relatively little-known text. Geoffrey's description of Morgen is notably very similar to that of Medea in Benoît de Sainte-Maure's epic poem Roman de Troie (c. 1155–1160), a story of the ancient Trojan War in which Morgan herself makes an unexplained appearance in this second known text featuring her. As Orvan the Fairy (Orva la fée, likely a corruption of a spelling such as *Morgua in the original-text), there she first lustfully loves the Trojan hero Hector and gifts him a wonderful horse, but then pursues him with hate after he rejects her. The abrupt way in which she is used suggests Benoît did expect his aristocratic audience to have been already familiar with her character. Another ancient-times appearance can be found in the much later Perceforest (1330s), within the fourth book which is set in Britain during Julius Caesar's invasions, where the fairy Morgane lives in the isle of Zeeland and has learned her magic from Zephir. Here, she has a daughter named Morganette and an adoptive son named Passelion, who in turn have a son named Morgan, described as an ancestor of the Lady of the Lake.
In Jaufre, an early Occitan language Arthurian romance dated c. 1180, Morgan seems to appear, without being named other than introducing herself as the "Fairy of Gibel" (fada de Gibel, the mount Gibel being a version of the Avalon motif as in later works), as the ruler of an underground kingdom who takes the protagonist knight Jaufre (Griflet) through a fountain to gift him her magic ring of protection. In the romance poem Lanzelet, written by the end of the 12th century by Ulrich von Zatzikhoven, the infant Lancelot is spirited away by a water fairy (merfeine in Old High German) and raised in her paradise island country of Meidelant ("Land of Maidens"). Ulrich's unnamed fairy queen character might be also related to Geoffrey's Morgen,[19] as well as to the early Breton oral tradition of Morgan's figure, especially as her son there is named Mabuz, similar to the name of Modron's son Mabon ap Modron. In Layamon's Middle English poem The Chronicle of Britain (c. 1215), Arthur was taken to Avalon by two women to be healed there by its most beautiful elfen (aluen) queen named Argante or Argane; it is possible her name had been originally Margan(te) before it was changed in manuscript transmission.
The 12th-century French poet Chrétien de Troyes already mentions her in his first romance, Erec and Enide, completed around 1170. In it, a love of Morgan (Morgue) is Guigomar (Guingomar, Guinguemar), the Lord of the Isle of Avalon and a nephew of King Arthur, a character derivative of Guigemar from the Breton lai Guigemar. Guingamor's own lai by Marie de France links him to the beautiful magical entity known only as the "fairy mistress", who was later identified by Thomas Chestre's Sir Launfal as Dame Tryamour, the daughter of the King of the Celtic Otherworld who shares many characteristics with Chrétien's Morgan. It was noted that even Chrétien' earliest mention of Morgan already shows an enmity between her and Queen Guinevere, and although Morgan is represented only in a benign role by Chrétien, she resides in a mysterious place known as the Vale Perilous (which some later authors would say she has created as a place of punishment for unfaithful knights). She is later mentioned in the same poem when Arthur provides the wounded hero Erec with a healing balm made by his sister Morgan. This episode affirms her early role as a healer, in addition to being one of the first instances of Morgan presented as Arthur's sister; healing is Morgan's chief ability, but Chrétien also hints at her potential to harm.
Chrétien again refers to Morgan as a great healer in his later romance Yvain, the Knight of the Lion, in an episode in which the Lady of Norison restores the maddened hero Yvain to his senses with a magical potion provided by Morgan the Wise (Morgue la sage). Morgan the Wise is female in Chrétien's original, as well as in the Norse version Ivens saga, but male in the English Ywain and Gawain. While the fairy Modron is mother of Owain mab Urien in the Welsh myth, and Morgan would be assigned this role in the later literature, this first continental association between Yvain (the romances' version of Owain) and Morgan does not imply they are son and mother. The earliest mention of Morgan as Yvain's mother is found in Tyolet, an early 13th-century Breton Middle Welsh Arthurian tale Geraint son of Erbin, either based on Chrétien's Erec and Enide or derived from a common source, mentions King Arthur's chief physician named Morgan Tud. It is believed that this character, though considered a male in Gereint, may be derived from Morgan le Fay, though this has been a matter of debate among Arthurian scholars since the 19th century (the epithet Tud may be a Welsh or Breton cognate or borrowing of Old Irish tuath, "north, left", "sinister, wicked", also "fairy (fay), elf"). There, Morgan is called to treat Edern ap Nudd, Knight of the Sparrowhawk, following the latter's defeat at the hands of his adversary Geraint, and is later called on by Arthur to treat Geraint himself. In the German version of Erec, the 12th-century knight and poet Hartmann von Aue has Erec healed by Guinevere with a special plaster that was given to Arthur by the king's sister, the goddess (gotinne) Feimurgân (Fâmurgân, Fairy Murgan):
When she began to demonstrate her magic powers, she had very soon circumnavigated the world and come back again. (…) Both in the air and on the earth she could hover at her ease, on the waves and beneath them. She was totally indifferent as to whether she lived in the fire or, just as much at her ease, in the dew. (…) And when it took her fancy she could change a man into a bird or an animal. (…) Mighty was she in magic and her life was greatly in defiance of God, for at her command were the birds in the wild, in the woods and fields, and what seems to me greatest, those evil spirits, that are called devils – they were all at her command. She was well capable of marvels for dragons had to bring from the air support in her affairs, as well as the fish in the sea. Moreover, she had kin deep in Hell: the Devil was her companion. He sent her aid, even from the fire, as much as she wanted. And whatever she would have from this earth, she took, without peril, in ample measure, all for herself. The earth bore no root, the power of which was not as familiar to her as the back of my hand is to me. (…) This earth never acquired a better mistress of magic arts than Feimurgân.
In writing that, Hartmann might have not been influenced by Chrétien, but rather by an earlier oral tradition from the stories of Breton bards. Hartmann also separated Arthur's sister (that is Feimurgân) from the fairy mistress of the lord of Avalon (Chrétien's Guigomar), who in his version is named Marguel. In the anonymous First Continuation of Chrétien's Perceval, the Story of the Grail, the fairy lover of its variant of Guigomar (here as Guingamuer) is named Brangepart, and the two have a son Brangemuer who became the king of an otherworldly isle "where no mortal lived". In the 13th-century romance Parzival, another German knight-poet Wolfram von Eschenbach inverted Hartmann's Fâmurgân's name to create that of Arthur's fairy ancestor named Terdelaschoye de Feimurgân, the wife of Mazadân, where the part "Terdelaschoye" comes from Terre de la Joie, or Land of Joy; the text also mentions the mountain of Fâmorgân.
Speculatively, Loomis and John Matthews further identified other perceived avatars of Morgan as the "Besieged Lady" archetype in various early works associated with the Castle of Maidens motif, often appearing as (usually unnamed) wife of King Lot and mother of Gawain. These characters include the Queen of Meidenlant in Diu Crône, the lady of Castellum Puellarum in De Ortu Waluuanii, and the nameless heroine of the Breton lai Doon, among others, including some in later works (such as with Lady Lufamore of Maydenlande in Sir Perceval of Galles). Loomis also linked her to the eponymous seductress evil queen from The Queen of Scotland, a 19th-century ballad "containing Arthurian material dating back to the year 1200."
A recently discovered moralistic manuscript written in Anglo-Norman French is the only known instance of medieval Arthurian literature presented as being composed by Morgan herself. This late 12th-century text is purportedly addressed to her court official and tells of the story of a knight called Piers the Fierce; it is likely that the author's motive was to draw a satirical moral from the downfall of the English knight Piers Gaveston, 1st Earl of Cornwall. Morgayne is titled in it as "empress of the wilderness, queen of the damsels, lady of the isles, and governor of the waves of the great sea." She is also mentioned in the Draco Normannicus, a 12th-century (c. 1167–1169) Latin chronicle by Étienne de Rouen, which contains a fictional letter from King Arthur to Henry II of England, written for political propaganda purposes, in which 'Arthur' criticises Henry for invading Brittany and claims that he has been healed of his wounds and made immortal in Avalon by his fay sister Morgan, called an "immortal nymph" (nympha perennis). Notably, it is one of the first known texts that made Morgan a sister to Arthur, as she is in the works of Chrétien and many others after him.
French prose cycles
Morgan's role was greatly expanded by the unknown authors (possibly members of the Cistercian religious order, which might explain their demonisation of pagan motifs and fear of sexuality) of the early-13th-century Old French romances of the Vulgate Cycle (also known as the Lancelot-Grail cycle) and especially its subsequent rewrite, the Prose Tristan-influenced Post-Vulgate Cycle. Integrating her fully into the Arthurian world, they also make Morgan's ways and deeds much more sinister and aggressive than she was presented by Geoffrey or Chrétien, as she undergoes a series of transformations and becomes a chaotic counter-heroine. Beginning as an erratic ally of Arthur and a notorious temptress opposed to his wife and some of his knights (especially Lancelot) in the original stories of the Vulgate Cycle, Morgan's figure eventually often turns into an ambitious and depraved nemesis of King Arthur himself in the Post-Vulgate. Her common image is now a malicious and cruel sorceress, the source of many intrigues at the royal court of Arthur and elsewhere. In some of the later works, she is also subversively working to take over Arthur's throne through her mostly harmful magic and scheming, including manipulating men. Most of the time, Morgan's magic arts correspond with these of Merlin's and the Lady of the Lake's, featuring shapeshifting, illusion, and sleeping spells (Richard Kieckhefer connected it with Norse magic). Although she is usually depicted in medieval romances as beautiful and seductive, the medieval archetype of the loathly lady is used frequently, as Morgan can be in a contradictory fashion described as both beautiful and ugly even within the same narration.
This version of Morgan (usually named Morgane or Morgain) first appears in the few surviving verses of the Old French poem Merlin, which later served as the original source for the Vulgate Cycle and consequently also the Post-Vulgate Cycle. It was written c. 1200 by the French knight-poet Robert de Boron, who described her as an illegitimate daughter of Lady Igraine with an initially unnamed Duke of Tintagel, after whose death she is adopted by King Neutres of Garlot. Merlin is the first known work linking Morgan to Igraine and mentioning her learning sorcery after having been sent away for an education. The reader is told that Morgan was given her moniker 'la fée' (the fairy) due to her great knowledge. A 14th-century massive prequel to the Arthurian legend, Perceforest, also implies that Arthur's sister was later named after its fée character Morgane from several centuries earlier.
In a popular tradition from later evolution of this narrative, Morgan is the youngest of the daughters of Igraine and Gorlois, the Duke of Cornwall. In the poem's prose version and its continuations, she has at least two elder sisters (various manuscripts list up to five daughters and some do not mention Morgan being a bastard child): Elaine of Garlot and the Queen of Orkney sometimes known as Morgause, the latter of whom is the mother of Arthur's knights Gawain, Agravain, Gaheris and Gareth by King Lot, and the traitor Mordred by Arthur (in some romances the wife of King Lot is called Morcades, a name that R. S. Loomis argued was another name of Morgan). At a young age, Morgan is sent to a convent after Arthur's father Uther Pendragon, aided by the half-demon Merlin, kills Gorlois and rapes and marries her mother, who later gives him a son, Arthur (which makes him Morgan's younger half-brother). There, Morgan masters the seven arts and begins her study of magic, going on to specialise in astronomie (astronomy and astrology) and healing; the Prose Merlin describes her as "wonderfully adept" and "working hard all the time." The Vulgate Suite du Merlin narration describes Morgan's unmatched beauty and her various skills and qualities of character:
She was comely in body and features, she stood straight and was wonderfully pleasant and a good singer. She was the best worker with her hands that anyone knew about in any land, and she was the cleverest of all. And she had the fairest head of any suited for a woman, and the most beautiful hands, and her skin was softer than millet. But she was the most lustful woman in all Great Britain and the lewdest. And as long as she was in her right mind, she was more courteous than any, but when she was angry with anyone, there was no need in trying to reconcile them.
Uther (or Arthur himself in the Post-Vulgate) betroths her to his ally, King Urien of Gor(r)e (described as an Otherworldly northern British kingdom, possibly the historical Rheged). Now a queen but unhappy with her husband, Morgan serves as a lady-in-waiting for the high queen, Arthur's newly married young wife Guinevere. At first, Morgan and the also young Guinevere are close friends, even wearing shared near-identical rings. However, everything changes when Morgan is caught in an affair with her lover Guiomar (derived from Chrétien's Guigomar) by Guinevere, who intervenes to break their relationship to prevent the loss of honour (and possibly because of Guinevere's perception of Morgan, with her kinship and close relationship with Arthur, as a rival in political power). This incident, introduced in the Prose Merlin and expanded in the Vulgate Lancelot and the Post-Vulgate Suite du Merlin (the Huth Merlin), begins a lifelong feud between Guinevere and Morgan, who leaves the court of Camelot with all her wealth to seek out Merlin and greater powers. The pregnant Morgan later gives a birth to Guiomar's son, who is not named in the story but is said to grow up to become a great knight. Morgan then either undertakes or continues her studies of dark magic under Merlin, enamored for her, the details of which vary widely depending on the telling. In the Prose Merlin, for instance, it is Morgan who finds Merlin, whom she "loves passionately". In the Livre d'Artus, where Morgan's first lover is named Bertolais, it is rather Merlin who goes to live with Morgan and her two ladies for a long time following the betrayal of him by Niniane (the Lady of the Lake) with her other lover, just as Morgan wished for him to do. In the Post-Vulgate Suite, Morgan had been tutored by Merlin even before her relationship with Guiomar, and later she returns to learn more. They first meet at Lot's funeral; after he teaches her so much she becomes "the wisest woman in the world", Morgan scorns and drives Merlin away by threatening to torture and kill him if he would not leave her alone, which causes him great sorrow out of his "foolish love" (fol amor) for her. In the Vulgate Lancelot, Morgan learns all her magic only from Merlin (and not in the nunnery). She then takes an unnamed knight as her new companion, until she discovers his affair with another woman, which leads to the creation of her magical domain known as the Val sans Retour (the Vale of No Return), serving as an enchanted prison for false lovers. In any case, having finished her studies under Merlin, Morgan begins scheming her vengeance as she tries to undermine virtue and achieve Guinevere's downfall whenever she can.
In the Post-Vulgate, where Morgan's explicitly evil nature is stated and accented, she also works to destroy Arthur's rule and end his life, but the reasons for her initial hatred of him are never fully explained other than just an extreme antipathy towards the perfect goodness which he symbolises. The most famous and important of these machinations is introduced in the Post-Vulgate Suite, where she arranges for her devoted lover Accolon to obtain the enchanted sword Excalibur as well as its protective scabbard, which has been previously confided to Morgan by Arthur himself as he had trusted her even more than his wife, replacing the real ones with fakes. In a conspiracy with the villainous lord Damas, Morgan plans for Accolon to use Arthur's own magic items against him in single combat, so she and her beloved Accolon would become the rulers. As part of her convoluted plan, both Arthur and Accolon are spirited away from their hunt with Urien by a magical boat of twelve damsels. Confident of her coming victory, Morgan also attempts to murder her sleeping husband Urien with his own sword, but in this act she is stopped by their son Yvain (Uwayne), who pardons her when she protests she has been under the devil's power and promises to abandon her wicked ways. After Arthur nevertheless mortally defeats Accolon in a duel arranged by Morgan, her former mentor Merlin, still having feelings for her, saves her from Arthur's wrath by enabling her to escape. To avenge Accolon's death, which caused her great sorrow, Morgan again steals the scabbard from the sleeping king. Pursued by Arthur for her betrayal, Morgan throws the scabbard into a lake, before temporarily turning herself and her entourage to stone, the sight of which makes Arthur think they have been already punished by God. That action of Morgan ultimately causes the death of Arthur, who would otherwise be protected by the scabbard's magic in his final battle. On her way out, Morgan saves Arthur's knight named Manassen (Manessen, Manasses) from certain death and enables him to kill his captor when she learns Accolon was Manessen's cousin. Now banished from Camelot, Morgan retires to her lands in Gore and then to her castle near the stronghold of Tauroc (possibly in North Wales). However, her treacherous attempts to bring about Arthur's demise in the Suite are repeatedly frustrated by the king's new sorceress advisor Ninianne (the Lady of the Lake). Such is the case when Morgan sends Arthur a supposed offering of peace in the form of a rich mantle cloak; Morgan's messenger maiden is made put on the cursed gift and it burns her to cinders. It is possible that this motif was inspired by classical stories like that how Medea killed her rival for Jason's affection or how Deianira sent a poisoned tunic to Hercules. In one of her castles, Tugan in Garlot, Morgan has hidden a magic book given to her by Merlin, which actually prophesied the deaths of Arthur and Gawain and who would kill them, but no one can read this passage without dying instantly.[
Morgan also uses her skills in dealing with various of Arthur's Knights of the Round Table, especially the greatest of them all, Lancelot, whom she alternately tries to seduce and to expose as Guinevere's adulterous lover. Her magic aside, Lancelot is always disempowered in his dealings with Morgan as he could never hurt a woman or fight a kin of his king, which allows the writers to make her a perfect foil for Lancelot as "the woman he most feared in the world." Morgan is emphasised as promiscuous, even more than her sister Morgause, as she is "so lustful and wanton that a looser [noble]woman could not have been found." Her many paramours include Huneson the Bald (Hemison, Onesun), who is mortally wounded when he attacks Tristan out of his jealously for Morgan's attention; he soon dies after returning to her, and the anguished Morgan buries him in a grand tomb. In one variation, she then takes possession of the lance that was used to kill Huneson, enchants it, and sends it to King Mark of Cornwall, her possible lover, who years later uses it to slay Tristan. In the Prose Tristan, wherein Morgan presents herself as Arthur's full sister, she delivers by Lamorak to Arthur's court a magical drinking horn from which no unfaithful lady can drink without spilling, hoping to disgrace Guinevere by revealing her infidelity, but it is Iseult whose adultery is disclosed instead. Lancelot is Morgan's prime object of sexual desire but he consistently refuses her obsessive advances due to his great love of Guinevere, even as Morgan repeatedly courts, drugs, enchants or imprisons the knight. Their one-sided relationship (as well as interactions between her and Arthur) may evoke that of the goddess Morrígan and the Celtic hero Cú Chulainn. One of such occasions has Lancelot captured in Cart Castle (Charyot) by Morgan and two other lascivious enchantresses, Queen Sebile (Sedile) and the unnamed Queen of Sorestan, each of whom wants to make him her lover, but he refuses to choose and escapes with the help of one of their maidservants, Rocedon. The three enchantresses "knew so much about magic, they enjoyed one another's company and always rode together and ate and drank together." Sebile and Morgan are particularly close companions, working their magic together, but they tend to fall into petty squabbles due to their rivalries and bad tempers, including a conflict between them when they both seduce Lancelot's brother Hector de Maris in the late 13th-century Prophéties de Merlin. Their friendship is further tested when a quarrel over a handsome widower named Berengier (captured by Sebile after Morgan kidnapped his child) ends in a violent attack by Sebile that leaves Morgan half-dead; Morgan swears revenge, but their relationship is later restored. After Merlin's entombment by the Lady of the Lake, Morgan and her three enchantresses also try to find and rescue him but they fail in that task. Morgan's other allies in the Prophéties include the opponents of chivalry such as Mark and Claudas, and she enlists the help of the latter in her failed attempt to eliminate the Lady of the Lake. In one of her schemes, she even sends Lucifer himself (in the guise of a dragon) against Segurant the Brown (Segurant le Brun).
Besides Lancelot, Morgan's fancied good knights include Tristan, but her interest in him turns into burning hatred of him and his true love Isolde after he kills her lover as introduced in the Prose Tristan (Morgan does not become their enemy in the Italian versions). Another is the rescued-but-abducted young Alexander the Orphan (Alisaunder le Orphelin), a cousin of Tristan and Mark's enemy from a later addition in the Prose Tristan as well as the Prophéties de Merlin, whom she promises to heal but he vows to castrate himself rather than to pleasure her. Nevertheless, Alexander promises to defend her castle of Fair Guard (Belle Garde), where he has been held, for a year and a day, and then dutifully continues to guard it even after the castle gets burned down; this eventually leads to his death. In the Val sans Retour, Lancelot frees the 250 unfaithful knights entrapped by Morgan, including Morgan's own son Yvain and her former lover Guiomar whom she has turned to stone for his infidelity. (Of note, Guiomar, appearing there as Gaimar, is also Guinevere's early lover instead of her cousin in the German version Lancelot und Ginevra.) Morgan then captures Lancelot himself under her spell using a magic ring and keeps him prisoner in the hope Guinevere would then go mad or die of sorrow. She also otherwise torments Guinevere, causing her great distress and making her miserable until the Lady of the Lake gives her a ring that protects her from Morgan's power. On one occasion, she lets the captive Lancelot go to rescue Gawain when he promises to come back (but also keeping him the company of "the most beautiful of her maidens" to do "whatever she could to entice him"), and he keeps his word and does return; she eventually releases him altogether after over a year, when his health falters and he is near death. It is said that Morgan concentrates on witchcraft to such degree that she goes to live in seclusion in the exile of far-away forests. She learns more spells than any other woman, gains an ability to transform herself into any animal, and people begin to call her Morgan the Goddess (Morgain-la-déesse, Morgue la dieuesse). In the Post-Vulgate version of Queste del Saint Graal, Lancelot has a vision of Hell where Morgan still will be able to control demons even in afterlife as they torture Guinevere. Later, after she hosts her nephews Gawain, Mordred and Gaheriet to heal them, Mordred spots the images of Lancelot's passionate love for Guinevere that Lancelot painted on her castle's walls while he was imprisoned there; Morgan shows them to Gawain and his brothers, encouraging them to take action in the name of loyalty to their king, but they do not do this. With same intent, when Tristan was to be Morgan's champion at a jousting tournament, she also gives him an enchanted shield depicting Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot to deliver to Camelot (in the Prose Tristan).
In the Vulgate La Mort le Roi Artu (The Death of King Arthur, also known as just the Mort Artu), Morgan ceases troubling Arthur and vanishes for a long time, and Arthur assumes her to be dead. But one day, he wanders into Morgan's remote castle while on a hunting trip, and they meet and instantly reconcile with each other. Morgan welcomes him warmly and the king, overjoyed with their reunion, allows her to return to Camelot, but she refuses and declares her plan to move to the Isle of Avalon, "where the women live who know all the world's magic," to live there with other sorceresses. However, disaster strikes when the sight of Lancelot's frescoes and Morgan's confession finally convinces Arthur about the truth to the rumours of the two's secret love affair (about which he has been already warned by his nephew Agravain). This leads to a great conflict between Arthur and Lancelot, which brings down the fellowship of the Round Table. The goddess Fortune, who appears to Arthur to foretell his death towards the end the Vulgate Cycle, is regarded by some as a double for Morgan. In the Mort Artu, Morgan is among the black-hooded ladies who take the dying Arthur to his final rest and possible revival in Avalon. Depending on the manuscript, she is either the leading lady (usually, being recognised by Girflet as the one holding Arthur's hand as he enters the boat), a subordinate to another who is unnamed, or neither of them are superior. The latter part of the Post-Vulgate versions of Queste and Mort both revert to Morgan's friendly and helpful attitude toward Arthur from the Vulgate Cycle, even as she makes no mention of Avalon or her intentions when taking him away. Arthur steps into her boat after Camlann but assures he is not going to return. His supposed grave is later said to be found mysteriously empty but for his helmet. (The Spanish poem La Faula has Morgan explain that by saying the tomb's purpose was to prevent a search for Arthur.)
Malory and other medieval English authors
Middle English writer Thomas Malory follows the portrayals of Morgan from the Old French prose cycles in his late-15th-century seminal work of the selective compilation book Le Morte d'Arthur (The Death of Arthur), though he reduces her in role and detail of characterisation, in particular either removing or limiting her traditions of healing and prophecy, and making her more consistently and inherently evil just as he makes Merlin more good. He also diminishes Morgan's conflict with Guinevere, as there is no motif of Guiomar and Accolon is her first named lover (appearing as Accolon of Gaul in a much abbreviated version of his story), but does not clarify Morgan's motivations for her antagonistic behaviour against Arthur. Malory scholar Elizabeth Sklar described Morgan's character here as "an essentially sociopathic personality, respecting no boundaries and acknowledging no rules save those dictated by her own ambitions, envy, and lust." Up until the war between Arthur and Lancelot and the rebellion of Mordred, it is Morgan who remains the main and constant source of direct and indirect threat to the realm. According to Corinne Saunders, Malory's "Morgan is also characterized as following the pattern of the otherworldly ruler who wishes both to destroy and to possess bodies" of knights through sex and manipulation. As noted by Mary Lynn Saul: "Curiously, in spite of all her powers, Morgan is rarely successful in any of her plots. Nevertheless, she remains a medieval symbol of the potential danger of uncontrolled female power. "Some modern researchers attribute Malory's "personal misogyny" to his portrayal of Morgan as well as women in general.
In Malory's backstory, Morgan has studied astrology as well as nigremancie (which might actually mean black magic in general rather than "necromancy") in the nunnery where she was raised, before being married to Urien (Uriens) as a young teenager; in this narrative she did not study with Merlin. Unlike Malory's Nimue, Morgan deals mostly in "black" rather than "white" magic, employed usually through enchantments and potions. Her powers, however, seem to be inspired by fairy magic of Celtic folklore rather than by medieval Christian demonology. Malory mentions Arthur's attempts to conquer at least one of her castles, which originally had been his own gift to her, and which he could not retake (apparently due to magical defences). She also plots an elaborate ambush in "The Book of Sir Tristram de Lyons", after learning of the death of one of her favourites in a tournament, but Tristan ends up killing or routing thirty of her knights when the ambush ends in a disaster. Morgan is widely feared and hated, so much that "many knights wished her burnt." She is now the leader of the four (not three) witch queens who capture Lancelot (the others being the Queen of the Northgales, the Queen of Eastland, and the Queen of the Outer Isles). In an episode that had been first introduced by the anonymous writer of the earlier Prose Lancelot, Lancelot rescues Elaine of Corbenic from being trapped in an enchanted boiling bath by Morgan and the Queen of the Northgales, both envious of Elaine's great beauty (echoing Circe's treatment of Scylla). However, despite all of their prior hostility towards each other and her numerous designs directed against Arthur personally (and his own promise to get a terrible revenge on her as long as he lives), Malory's Morgan is still redeemed and is one of the four grieving enchantress queens (the others being Nimue, marking the end of conflict between her and Morgan, and two of Morgan's allies, the Queen of the Northgales and the Queen of the Wasteland) who arrive in a black boat to transport the wounded king to Avalon in the end. Unlike in the French and earlier stories on which Le Morte d'Arthur is based, and where Morgan and Arthur would either have first made peace or have just never fought to begin with, here her change of attitude towards him is sudden and unexplained. Arthur is last seen in Morgan's lap, with her lament of sorrow referring to him as her "dear brother" (dere brothir), as they disappear from the work's narrative together. And, also as in the Vulgate Mort Artu (and the English poem Alliterative Morte Arthure), Morgan also appears as Lady Fortune with the Wheel of Fortune to warn Arthur prior to his fatal final battle.
Morgan also appears in some other English texts, such as the early-13th-century Anglo-Norman Roman de Waldef where she is only "name-dropped" as a minor character. Middle English romance Arthour and Merlin, written around 1270, casts a villainous Morgan in the role of the Lady of the Lake and gives her a brother named Morganor as an illegitimate son of King Urien; her wondrous castle Palaus is built mostly of crystal and glass. Conversely, a 14th-century Middle English version of the Vulgate Mort Artu known as the Stanzaic Morte Arthur makes Morgan an unquestionably good sister of Arthur, concerned only about his honour in regard to the affair of Lancelot and Guinevere. Entering her boat (she is not named in the scene, but addresses him as her brother), Arthur believes he is going to be healed, yet his tomb is later discovered by Bedivere.
At the end of the 14th-century Middle English romance Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, one of the best-known Arthurian tales, it is revealed that the entire Green Knight plot has been instigated by Gawain's aunt, the goddess Morgan le Fay (Morgue la Faye, Morgne þe goddes), whose prior mentorship by Merlin is mentioned. Here, she is an ambiguous trickster who takes an appearance of an elderly woman (contrasting from the beautiful Lady Bertilak in a role evoking the loathly lady tradition), as a test for Arthur and his knights and to frighten Guinevere to death. Morgan's importance to this particular narrative has been disputed and called a deus ex machina and simply an artistic device to further connect Gawain's episode to the Arthurian legend, but some regard her as a central character and the driving force of the plot. Opinions are also divided regarding Morgan's intentions and whether she succeeds or fails, and how the story's shapeshifting and enigmatic Morgan might be, or might be not, also Lady Bertilak herself.
Other later appearances
Morgan further turns up throughout the Western European literature of the High and Late Middle Ages in a variety of roles, generally in works related to the cycles of Arthur (the Matter of Britain) or Charlemagne (the Matter of France). They often feature Morgan as a lover and benefactor (and sometimes opponent, especially when being turned down) of various heroes, sometimes also introducing her additional offspring or alternate siblings, or connecting her closer with the figure of the Lady of the Lake. For instance, the Old French anonymous Li Romans de Claris et Laris better known as just Claris and Laris (c. 1270), has its Morgane la Faye (Morgana in the modern English translation) as a fully supernatural being, a former sister of Arthur as well as a former pupil of the Lady of Lake, Viviane (Viviana). Still ever lascivious and sexual, Morgan now lives in a splendid enchanted castle in the wilderness (identified as Brocéliande in a later manuscript) with twelve other beautiful fairy ladies including the sorceress Madoine (Madoina). There, they lure and ensnare many hundreds of young and attractive knights, who then spend the rest of their lives in the palace. Morgan is named Dioneta in the 14th-century Welsh text known as The Birth of Arthur, where she is a sister of both Gwyar (Morgause) and Gwalchmei (Gawain), as well as of the other sisters Gracia and Graeria, and is sent off by Uther to Avallach (Avalon). In Thomas III of Saluzzo's Le Chevalier Errant, la fée Morgane holds the eponymous Wandering Knight captive inside a magnificent castle in her forest land Païenie ("Pagania"), but after her brother Arthur sends messengers she agrees to lift her enchantment and let him go. The fairy queen Lady Morgan (Dame Morgue, Morgue li fee) shows up in Adam de la Halle's late-13th-century French story Jeu de la feuillée, in which she visits a contemporary Arras. Spanish public edicts dating from the end of the 14th and the beginning of the 15th century tell of the belief in Morgane continuing to enchant and imprison people at Tintagel and in "the Valley of False Trickery".
In the legends of Charlemagne, she is associated with the Danish legendary hero Ogier the Dane: following his initial epics, when he is 100 years old, the fairy queen Morgan restores him to his youthful form but removes his memory, then takes him to her mystical island palace in Avalon (where Arthur and Gawain are also still alive) to be her lover for 200 years. She later protects him during his adventures in the mortal world as he defends France from Muslim invasion, before his eventual return to Avalon. In some accounts, Ogier begets her two sons, including Marlyn (Meurvin); in the 14th-century Ly Myreur des Histors by the French-Belgian author Jean d'Outremeuse, one of their sons is a giant and they live in a palace made of jewels. In the 13th-century chanson de geste of Huon of Bordeaux, she is a protector of the eponymous hero and the mother of the fairy king Oberon by none other than Julius Caesar. In Ogier le Danois, Morgan (Morgue la Fée) lives in her palace in Avalon together with Arthur and Oberon, who both seem to be her brothers. In another chanson de geste, the early-13th-century La Bataille Loquifer, the fays Morgan and her sister Marsion (Marrion) bring the Saracen hero Renoart to Avalon, where Arthur is the king, and Renoart's union with Morgan gives him an illegitimate son named Corbon (Corbans). When Renoart jilts her and escapes, Morgan sends her demonic monster servant Kapalu (derived from the Welsh legends' Cath Palug) after him; the shipwrecked Renoart ends up luckily rescued by a mermaid.
The island of Avalon is often described as an otherworldly place ruled by Morgan in other later texts from all over Western Europe, especially these written in Iberia. In the 14th-century French Crusadic fantasy Le Bâtard de Bouillon, the island kingdom of Arthur and his fairy sister Morgan the Beautiful is hidden by a cloud in the Red Sea, where it is visited by King Bauduins (Baldwin II of Jerusalem). In his 14th-century Catalan poem La faula, Guillem de Torroella claims to have himself having visited the Enchanted Isle and met Arthur who has been brought back to life by the fay Morgan (Morgan la feya, Morguan la fea) and they both are now forever young due to the power of the Holy Grail. In the 15th-century Valencian romance Tirant lo Blanc, the noble Queen Morgan searches the world for her missing brother; finally finding him entranced in Constantinople, Morgan brings Arthur back to his senses by removing Excalibur from his hands, after which they leave to Avalon. The Castilian Arderique begins where the Mort Artu ends, that is with the departure and disappearance of Arthur and his sister Morgaina, described there as a fairy and a necromancer, after the battle with Mordred (Mordered). Francisco de Enciso Zárate's Florambel de Lucea (1532) features a later appearance of Arthur together with his sister Morgaina, "better known as Morgana the fairy" (fada Morgana), who explains how she saved her brother and gifts Excalibur (Escaliber) to the eponymous hero Florambel. In Tristán de Leonis, Morgana offers her love to Tristan. In the story La fada Morgana, the protagonist Joana ends up marrying the fairy queen Morgana's son named Beuteusell after passing his mother's test with his help.
The 14th-century Italian romance titled La Pulzella Gaia (The Merry Maiden) features the titular beautiful young daughter of Morgana (Italian version of Morgan's name, here too also a sister of the Lady of the Lake) with Hemison. In her own tale, Morgana's daughter defeats Gawain (Galvano) in her giant serpent form before becoming his lover; she and her fairy army then save Gawain from the jealous Guinevere, who wants Gawain dead after having been spurned by him. She then herself is imprisoned in a magical torment in her mother's glass-and-diamond magical castle Pela-Orso, because of how Morgana wanted to force her to marry Tristan. Eventually, Gawain storms the castle after three years of siege and frees her from a cursed dungeon, also capturing her tyrannical mother for the same punishment. The 15th-century Italian manuscript La Tavola Ritonda (The Round Table) too makes Morgan a sister to the Lady of the Lake as well as to Arthur. It is based on the French prose romances, but here Morgan is a prophetic figure whose main role is to ensure the fulfilment of fate. Her daughter also appears, as Gaia Donzella, in the Tavola Ritonda, where she is kidnapped by the knight Burletta of the Desert (Burletta della Diserta) who wants to rape her but she is rescued by Lancelot. The Italian Morgana appears in a number of cantari poems of the 14th to 15th century. Some of these are original new episodes, such as the Cantari di Tristano group's Cantare di Astore e Morgana, in which Morgana heals Hector de Maris (Astore) and gives an armour made in Hell as well as a magical ship, and the Cantari del Falso Scudo that features her fairy son, the Knight with the Enchanted Shield; the Ponzela Gaia is another telling of the familiar story of Morgana's fairy daughter. Evangelista Fossa combined and retold some of them in his Innamoramento di Galvano (Gawain Falling in Love, c. 1494).
Morgan le Fay, or Fata Morgana in Italian, has been in particular associated with Sicily as a location of her enchanted realm in the mythological landscape of medieval Europe (at least since the Norman conquest of southern Italy), and local folklore describes her as living in a magical castle located at or floating over Mount Etna. As such she gave her name to the form of mirage common off the shores of Sicily, the Fata Morgana, since the 14th century. References linking Avalon to Sicily can be found in Otia Imperialia (c. 1211) and La faula, as well as in Breton and Provençal literature, for example in the aforementioned Jaufre and La Bataille Loquifer. The 13th-century Chrétien-inspired romance Floriant et Florete places Morgan's secret mountain castle of Mongibel (Montgibel or Montegibel, derived from the Arabic name for Etna), where, in the role of a fairy godmother, Morgan (Morgane) and two other fays spirit away and raises Floriant, a son of a murdered Sicilian king and the hero of the story. Floriant, with the help of her magic ship, eventually reunites with Morgan at her castle when he returns there with his wife Florete. The 15th-century French romance La Chevalier du Papegau (The Knight of the Parrot) gives Morgaine the Fairy of Montgibel (Morgaine, la fée de Montgibel, as she is also known in Floriant et Florete) a sister known as the Lady Without Pride (la Dame sans Orgueil), whom Arthur saves from the evil Knight of the Wasteland (similar to the story in the Tavola Ritonda). Meanwhile, the Fastnachtspiel (Ain Hupsches Vasnacht Spill von Künig Artus), a German retelling of the enchanted horn episode, moved Morgan's Mediterranean Sea island domain to the east of Sicily, referring to her only as the Queen of Cyprus.
During the Italian Renaissance, Morgan has been primarily featured in relation to the cycle of epic poems of Orlando (based on Roland of the historical Charlemagne). In Matteo Maria Boiardo's late-15th-century Orlando Innamorato, fata Morgana (initially as lady Fortune) is beautiful but wicked fairy enchantress, a sister of King Arthur and a pupil of Merlin. Morgana lives in her paradise-like garden in a crystal cavern under a lake, plotting to eventually destroy the entire world. There, she abducts her favourites until she is thwarted by Orlando who defeats, chases and captures Morgana, destroying her underwater prison and letting her keep only one of her forced lovers, a knight named Ziliante. In Ludovico Ariosto's continuation of this tale, Orlando Furioso (1532), Morgana (also identified as Morgan Le Fay) is revealed as a twin sister of two other sorceresses, the good Logistilla and the evil Alcina; the latter appears after Orlando again defeats Morgana, rescuing Ziliante who has been turned into a dragon, and forces Morgana to swear by her lord Demogorgon to abandon her plots. It also features the medieval motif where uses a magic horn to convince Arthur of the infidelity of his queen (Geneura), here successfully. Bernardo Tasso's L'Amadigi (1560) further introduces Morgana's three daughters: Carvilia, Morganetta, and Nivetta, themselves temptresses of knights.
Morgan's other 16th-century appearances include these of Morgue la fée in François Rabelais' French satirical fantasy novel Les grandes chroniques du grand et énorme géant Gargantua et il publie Pantagruel (1532) and of the good Morgana in Erasmo di Valvasone's Italian didactic poem La caccia (1591). In Edmund Spenser's English epic poem The Faerie Queene (1590), Argante (Layamon's name for Morgan) is lustful giantess queen of the "secret Ile", evoking the Post-Vulgate story of Morgan's kidnapping of Sir Alexander. It also features three other counterpart characters: Acrasia, Duessa, and Malecasta, all representing different themes from Malory's description of Morgan. Morgan might have also inspired the characters of the healer Loosepaine and the fay Oriande in the Scots poem Greysteil (possibly originally written in 15th-century England).

Morgaine Le Fey is a powerful sorceress and a supervillainess in DC Comics. She is based on Morgan le Fay, the legendary witch of Arthurian legend. She is the archenemy of Etrigan the Demon. She serves as the main antagonist of the 2008 series Trinity and for most of Etrigan's series.
Morgaine le Fey is the ancient and diabolical sorceress of Arthurian legends. Her history is slightly different from the legends but she is a sorceress gifted in the arts of black magic. In Madame Xanadu #1 (2008), Morgaine (or "Morgana") is revealed as a sister of Nimue Inwudu (the future Madame Xanadu) and Vivienne, the Lady of the Lake. All three women are said to be descended from the "Elder Folk," survivors of the fall of Atlantis that evolved into the Homo Magi, explaining Morgaine's affinity for magic. However, while Nimue is shown as kind and caring about the early, magic-free Homo Sapiens, Morgaine exhibits a mean streak, treating the new human breed as little more than playthings, using contempt even towards her kinder little sister.
After several centuries of manipulating humans and taking many lovers (including Julius Caesar), Morgaine sets her sights on Uther Pendragon, High King of Britain. However, her advances are rejected, as Uther only has eyes for Igraine, the wife of Duke Gorlois of Cornwall. Seeking to meddle in their lives, Morgaine assumes a magical glamour and disguises herself as one of Igraine's daughters. However, this causes her to be exiled from the Elder Folk. Her sister Vivienne gives her shelter on the isle of Avalon (Madame Xanadu #20).
In the early 6th century, Morgaine trains her foster sisters Morgause and Elaine to be adept with sorcery like her. Following Gorlois' death at Uther's hands, Morgaine blames her foster brother King Arthur (Uther's son) for stealing her and her sisters' birthright. She conspires against him throughout his time on the throne and seeks the destruction of Camelot (Trinity #21).
In the waning days of Camelot, Merlin merges his demon familiar Etrigan with a man, Jason Blood, as part of a last-ditch effort to defend the kingdom against Morgaine le Fey's assault. Blood had been an ally of le Fey and is bonded to the Demon as penance. He and Morgaine become enemies henceforth. Following the fall of Camelot, Morgaine continues to practice her dark arts and retains her youth for many centuries, always seeking more power and a new kingdom to rule. By the 20th century, Merlin has arisen anew and tricks Morgaine, causing her to lose her youth and beauty which she had preserved using her magics. She wishes to replenish her youth with Merlin's secrets. She forces Jason Blood to become the Demon again and to lead her to Merlin's tomb. The Demon eventually strives to keep Morgaine le Fey from restoring her youth with the powers of Merlin.
In Batman Family #17, the Huntress' use of the Justice League transporter frees Morgaine le Fey (who captures the Philosopher's Stone). Le Fey seeks a baby with latent demon powers in the maternity ward where Man-Bat's wife is giving birth. Several women give birth to demon-babies as a result. The Demon also appears and together he and Man-Bat defeat le Fey (This story takes place in pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths continuity.).
Also in pre-Crisis continuity, Morgaine's daughter Morgana is one of Wonder Woman's foes, a mischievous young witch. In the post-Crisis timeline, this character is no longer referenced and Morgaine herself has gone on to become an enemy of Wonder Woman.
Morgaine later attempts to steal Wonder Woman's eternal youth, not realizing that Wonder Woman has already given it up. Her spell backfires and she disintegrates into dust. She retains enough magic for a resurrection however and returns to battle the Demon and Wonder Woman on many occasions.
Morgaine returns in the series Trinity, teaming up with a mysterious man called Enigma and the alien warlord Despero to usurp the symbolic position of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. The trio of villains succeed in creating an alternate timeline with their efforts. However, the spell is not entirely successful, as this "Despero" is in fact the alien villain Kanjar Ro in disguise, which disrupts Morgaine's enchantment.
While her bid for godhood is disrupted, she nonetheless acquires magical might to enslave the Earth by infusing an already powerful supervillain team with the might of the Major Arcana of the Tarot, giving them a measure of control over reality. As she is part of this Dark Arcana team, as the High Priestess, she has also this measure of control, allowing her to bring Europe and most of Minor Asia under her control, and ultimately lead the forces of good back to America for a final showdown of the powers of the Arcana.
This bid also fails, as the divinely-empowered Trinity of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman return from their exile and destroy the Dark Arcana's reality-based powers, vanquishing Morgaine's control over Europe. Morgaine, during the part of the series where she enjoys the massive power boost, is portrayed as a power-drunk menace, scorching the Earth as she walks; her powers are used so recklessly and dangerously that even her Dreambound soldiers defect and join forces with the heroes in a plan to bring her down. Ultimately, she seeks the aid of Krona, first, to enslave, and later, to destroy the Earth, as she preferred to have it blasted to nothingness than allow it to remain outside of her control. However, even this alliance fails, as Morgaine had offered Krona the soul of Enigma's daughter, causing him to turn on her. Morgaine's is defeated, and she is imprisoned in a stone idol, which is placed in the custody of Jason Blood.
During the Brightest Day crossover, Mr. Terrific mentions that Morgaine is among the dozens of magical beings driven insane by the Starheart. According to him, Morgaine was spotted in New Mexico, where she was going on a rampage.
In Other Media In the Justice League animated series, Morgaine Le Fey (voiced by Olivia d'Abo) appears in the episode "A Knight of Shadows", in which she tries to steal the Philosopher's Stone and use it to convert London into a massive castle with her son Mordred as the ruler by partially brainwashing the Martian Manhunter and having him steal the stone for her in exchange for restoring Mars to life. She was also seen exhibiting her abilities both as a sorceress and as a life-drainer, at both of which she is extremely proficient. In Justice League Unlimited, she reappears in the episode "Kid Stuff", where she leads Mordred to the Amulet of First Magic, the source of all Earthly magic, which had power exceeding even Morgaine's. Betrayed by Mordred, who snatched the Amulet and used it to banish her and all adults on Earth to a parallel dimension, she brokered a deal with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern, changing them into children so they could return to Earth and fight Mordred. When they tricked him into becoming an adult so he'd be banished, he arrived in the parallel dimension where Morgaine told him that he had made a grave error. When the spell was broken, Morgaine changed the heroes back to their proper ages and then proceeded to take care of her son, who was now old and weak, having broken the eternal youth spell his mother had cast on him centuries earlier. Morgaine le Fey appears in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode "Day of the Dark Knight" voiced by Tatyana Yassukovich. She uses her magic to take over Camelot and Etrigan resulting in Merlin gaining help from Batman and Green Arrow. When it came to the location of Excalibur, Morgaine took control of Batman and turned him into a Dark Knight to retrieve Excalibur for her. Merlin engages Morgaine le Fey while Green Arrow is sent to stop Batman from claiming Excalibur for Morgaine. Batman was eventually freed from the spell. With Etrigan also freed, Morgaine transformed into a dragon. When Batman was not able to budge, she attacked them and turned Merlin and Etrigan to stone. Green Arrow and Batman pulled Excalibur from the stone and combined their moves to defeat Morgaine le Fey. Additionally, she also appears in a non-speaking cameo in the teaser of the first part of the two part episode "The Siege of Starro!", magically manipulating an entrapped Merlin, and later, she is stopped by Entrigan. Videogame Morgaine le Fey appears in the DS version of Batman: The Brave and the Bold – The Videogame. She teams up with the Clock King on Dinosaur Island and must be defeated by Batman and the Red Tornado. Powers and Abilities
Morgan le Fey is a sorceress skilled in the use of black magic. She has cast spells that are able to control even the strongest of supernatural beings. She was able to transport Wonder Woman to another dimension (The Nether Plane) and fight her for her Amazonian fighting skills. By using a device, she was able to magically view individuals from miles away.
She is immortal although she claims to have lost this ability. As shown in the Wonder Woman comic, she must "steal" immortality from other immortals in order to maintain her youth. After Merlin robs her of her youth and beauty, she wears a golden armor to shield her withered and ancient body. Morgaine also possesses a machine capable of binding beings and stealing their immortal life forces.
Brittney: What the! The REAL Morgan Le Fay!
Morgan Le Fay: That's right. And it's an honor to meet the Empress of Darkness.
Brittney: You have been my source of inspiration in mastering the forces of dark magic. But if you are the real Morgan Le Fay then who is that?
Ghost of Morgan Le Fay: (Laughs Evilly)
She opened a portal and went through it and it vanished.
Morgan Le Fay: She went back in time to the Medieval Era.
Nico: Then we got to go after her.
Condiment King: What's the challenge this time?
Me: We got word of a jewel thief that has been stealing billions of dollars in jewels all over Calcutta and we have to find the thief and stop it.
Zarya: Is it Sly Cooper?
Me: No Sly and his gang only goes after Criminals. There's no fun, honor and no challenge to him when it comes to stealing from ordinary people.
Zarya: Good point.
Larxene: This is gonna be interesting.
Me: it sure is. Nico told us all about your adventures in the Multiverse and how you all stopped Bertram. That was awesome!
Bonz: Yeah it sure was.
Duskmon: One of our best adventures ever.
Zarya: It sure was. We're very proud of all of you.
Larxene: Thanks guys.
Later Nico and team were in the land of Camelot back in 475 A.D.
Nico: Wow.
Skull Man: I can't believe we're actually in Camelot.
Nico: 1,500 years ago. This is gonna be so cool!
Varie: Yeah it is! And we're going after Morgan Le Fay.
Nico: This is gonna be one helluva journey.
Lola: Yeah but this will be a journey worthy of a princess!
Twilight Sparkle: It sure will!
Princess Celestia: I can't wait to see what is in store for us here in Camelot.
Nico: Me too. Lets head to the castle of King Arthur.
Eli: Right.
The Mobile Sky Fortress landed in Calcutta, India.
Me: Here we are guys. Welcome to Calcutta, India.
Xaldin: Wow.
Larxene: Maybe we should get something to eat before finding this thief.
Me: Good idea. We'll need all the energy we can.
We went to an Indian Restaurant and got some really good curry and chicken from Bollywood. I covered my chicken with Ghost Chili sauce.
Larxene: Wow! You are one spicy guy.
Xaldin: And you picked a great restaurant. The girls here are awesome. (Purrs)
Nico and the group were kneeling before the legendary and mighty King Arthur himself.
Leanbow: (bows) King Arthur. We are honored to be in your presence.
King Arthur: It is so good to see you again Team Loud Phoenix Storm.
Nico: It's good to see you too your majesty.
King Arthur: Where are J.D. and Zarya?
Nico: They are back in our time competing in a contest.
King Arthur: I see. I'm glad you all came. We need your help. Morgan Le Fay is causing trouble.
Nico: We saw. But the Morgan Le Fay you know in this time is not who you think.
The REAL Morgan Le Fay told him everything and they were shocked.
Nico: I know this is sudden that we have Morgan Le Fay with us but she has her reasons for helping us. She wants to get rid of the imposter that is impersonating her.
King Arthur: I understand my friend.
Bonz: (to Xaldin) I didn't know you had a habit for flirting, Xaldin.
Xaldin: What can I say. I am a babe magnet.
A lot of Indian Ladies were huddled around him and they were making him pur and smile.
Me: Ooh.
Zarya: He sure has a charm.
Me: Yeah he does.
Shaggy: Like, no way am I getting near Morgan Le Fay!
Scooby: Re reither!
Me: You guys are a couple of big fat chickens. (Shaggy and Scooby clucked like chickens) That's fine. No one is forcing you two to help us in this mystery.
Veon: But if you do help us, we'll give you two 12 boxes of Scooby Snacks.
Shaggy: Like oh boy!
Scooby Doo: Roh Boy!
Varie gave them the boxes.
Scrappy: Now lets get that witch so we can splat her!
Crystal: Like yeah!
Amber: Lets do it!
Later in India, we were searching for clues.
Mer Man: So.. any idea on who our mystery thief is?
Me: I did find this on the floor of one of the jewelry stands.
I pulled out a piece of light pink hair.
Me: I have a feeling I know who this hair belongs to.
Larxene: Me too. And it's not Fluttershy's hair.
Me: Nope. This hair strand belongs to Vignette Valencia.
Sword Man: (to King Arthur) Your majesty, before we make a plan, how about you and I practice swordfighting?
King Arthur: It will be my pleasure Sword Man.
He unsheathed the legendary and mighty sword Excalibur and they clashed.
Nico: Ooh awesome.
Varie: They sure have skills.
Kai Green: Everything we read is all true.
Morgan Le Fay: Was there ever any doubt?
Laney: None.
We got back to searching and then Cluemaster got a call.
Cluemaster: (answers call) Hello?
Nico: Cluemaster, it's Nico.
Cluemaster: Is there anything you need?
Nico: We're dealing with someone who think it's funny to impersonate Morgan Le Fay. Can you think of anyone who would want to do that?
Cluemaster: Hmm. Probably someone who wants people to believe in the legend of King Arthur and someone who knows about the legend of Morgan le Fay.
Nico: Hmm.
Cluemaster: Either that or it's someone who wants to exploit the legend of King Arthur for their own selfish deeds and I have a strong feeling it's either the librarian Ms. Wentworth or someone else.
Nico: I think it's Ms. Wentworth too. I had a feeling that something was up when we saw her.
Cluemaster: I have that feeling too.
Nico: Thanks.
Cluemaster: You're welcome. Are you facing the imposter?
Nico: We sure are. I'll put you on speaker.
Back in Camelot, Nico smashed down the Ghost of Morgan Le Fay!
Dominique: We should've known. You're not Morgan Le Fay!
Nico: No she's not!
Nico ripped off "Morgan Le Fay's" Mask and it was MS. WENTWORTH THE LIBRARIAN!
Mystery Inc. Gang: Ms. Wentworth!?
Nico: Just as I suspected.
Shaggy: But like, why?
Cluemaster: (on Speaker phone) To trick Shaggy into signing the deed to Norville de Morgana, in order to take ownership of the town and collect all the profits from the medieval attraction.
Nico: It was all for her own greed and selfishness.
Laney: Well now she is gonna be spending it behind bars when we get back to the 21st Century.
Ms. Wentworth: You'll have to fight me first! Along with some of your friends too!
She pulled off her glove and revealed that she had a dark orb imbedded in the back of her hand!
Nico: She has a Dark Orb on her hand.
She then summoned 19 figures and they were DEVIMON, ETEMON, METALSEADRAMON, PUPPETMON, MACHINEDRAMON, PIEDMON, HARPYMON and THE 12 DEVAS: MIHIRAMON, SANDIRAMON, SINDURAMON, PAJIRAMON, VAJRAMON, INDRAMON, KUMBHIRAMON, VIKARALAMON, MAKURAMON, MAJIRAMON, ANTYLAMON and CATURAMON!
Devimon
Devimon, known as Darkmon in Japanese version, is one of the main antagonists in the Digimon universe. He serves as the main antagonist for the first twelve episodes in the Digimon Adventure anime, and serves as the first main antagonist in the 2020 reboot of Digimon Adventure, as leader of the Dark Digimon. Devimon is also a minor antagonist in Digimon Adventure 02 and Digimon Fusion. Devimon is a Champion Digimon, although a very powerful one, rivaled only by Angemon.
Digimon Adventure 01
Devimon discovered the Black Gears and implanted them in good Digimon to turn them evil. Victims included Meramon, Andromon, Monzaemon, Unimon, Frigimon, Mojyamon, Centarumon, Whamon, and Drimogemon. The most notable of his victims was Leomon; while Leomon and Ogremon were fighting, Devimon commanded them to work for him. It took little convincing to get Ogremon on his side; however, Leomon was a good Digimon so he refused to work for Devimon and attacked him, until Devimon used the Touch of Evil to brainwash Leomon, turning him evil.
As the Digidestined were inside the imaginary hotel (created by Devimon), Devimon prepares his henchmen to attack the Digidestined. Tai and Agumon were eventually cornered by Ogremon and the brainwashed Leomon, and also confronted by Devimon. Devimon used his power to break File Island apart and scatter it all over the sea. The brainwashed Leomon attempts to take Tai out, but a Digivice fell and flashed at Leomon, managing to free him from Devimon's control. Devimon tries to send the Digidestined and their Digimon to their doom, but Leomon attacks Devimon, saving them from their deaths. While Leomon helps Tai and Agumon escape from Devimon, the demon brainwashes Leomon again. After fighting off several Digimon, most of them victims of the Black Gears, the Digidestined (minus Joe and Sora) fought Leomon at Primary Village, where Leomon was attacked by more Black Gears, making him bigger and stronger. But they drove all the evil out with their Digivices. Leomon told them that the only way to restore File Island to normal was to defeat Devimon.
Naturally, the Digidestined chose to attack him. Back at his secret Castle atop Infinity Mountain, Devimon absorbed Ogremon and all the Black Gears, transforming into a much bigger form. Although they were able to get some shots in, Devimon gained the advantage over all of them, using powers of pure evil. Leomon was sent flying far away by Ogremon, who kept on jumping out of Devimon's chest. Devimon eventually turned to TK, whose Digimon Patamon had not participated in the fight due to his inability to Digivolve.
It was said that the smallest Digidestined would destroy him, so Devimon tried to crush TK but Patamon jumped in front of him and was caught in Devimon's fist. However, it was at that moment that Patamon Digivolved into Angemon. In the classic angel vs devil battle, Angemon knocked Ogremon out of Devimon and put all his power into a Hand of Fate attack, which he used to destroy Devimon. As he was dying, he warns Angemon that more evil is everywhere and laughs one last time. Angemon was destroyed as well, but was reborn as a Digi-egg. The next time he became Angemon again was to fight the even more sinister Myotismon.
Digimon Adventure 02
When the Digimon Emperor extracts DNA from Digimon to make Kimeramon, he enters the Dark Whirlpool, where he finds the broken remains of Devimon (who is said to have created the Whirlpool) and absorbs him, ignoring his warning that he cannot control the power of darkness. The Dark Whirlpool is believed to be caused by Devimon. Devimon's voice continues to taunt the Digimon Emperor, and his influence causes Kimeramon to rebel against him, but he is once again destroyed when Magnamon obliterates Kimeramon.
The exact nature of his reappearance is unclear. It could be that, like Wizardmon and Myotismon, he became a ghost after his death and haunted the ocean, creating the whirlpool via the powers of darkness. It is also possible that the Dark Whirlpool leads to the Dark Area (Digimon hell), and Devimon somehow opened the portal from within (supported by the ghostly apparitions appearing in the whirlpool).
Etemon
Etemon is the second main antagonist in Digimon Adventure 01, and also a minor villain in Digimon Fusion. He is an evil Digimon who is like an Elvis wannabe in an orange Super Monkey Suit, complete with sunglasses. Unlike the first major villain, Devimon, Etemon is an Ultimate Digimon, and also comical and more of a crime lord than a dark lord, which would be the next Ultimate Digimon, Myotismon. He is also the secondary arch-nemesis of the Digidestined.
Etemon Arc
The DigiDestined encounter him on the continent of Server. Etemon is the master of the Dark Network, and many of his servants like Tyrannomon are connected to the dark cables. Etemon also has many Gazimon and Monochromon working for him. At one point, he makes a clone of Greymon and sends him after the DigiDestined, but the clone and most of Etemon's machinery are destroyed when the real Greymon digivolves into the evil SkullGreymon.
Etemon's base of operation is an inverted pyramid with an underground, right side up pyramid beneath it. In the upside down pyramid, Etemon and his Gazimon henchmen have surveillance room, observing all the action outside the pyramid. There are passages that lead to an electric fence that which is partcially a fake wall leading to the second pyramid. Underneath that is the center of Etemon's Dark Power Network, which anything suck in there is lost forever.
He is enemies with another antagonist, Datamon. After the DigiDestined unwittingly release Datamon, he betrays them and tries to fight Etemon, but was defeated again and kidnaps Sora and Biyomon to make a clone of Sora. Tai was able to enter the pyramid and rescue Sora and Biyomon, but Datamon tries to stop Tai, but they immediately escape. Upset by the loss, Datamon deletes the clone, only for Etemon to arrive shortly to dismantle him. Datamon then detects the Dark Networks has absorbed as the floor vanishes. Etemon tries to escape, but Datamon grabs his leg to come with him. Datamon drops computer viruses into a pit leading to the core of the Dark Network, which goes haywire and growing out of control, increasing the negative energy it preserves by absorbing all of it in the Digital World, including from those who possess it. All of Etemon's servants are sucked into the pit and destroyed, and soon both Datamon and Etemon fall into the nexus of the Dark Network. Datamon disintegrates, but Etemon, who wields negative energy himself, fuses with the core of the Dark Network, and becomes more powerful. After the pyramids collapse, Etemon turns towards the DigiDestined and attacks them with dangerously-modified Dark Network orbs, which create wormholes in anything they touch. However, Greymon is able to Digivolve using the Tag and Crest, this time into MetalGreymon. Etemon tries to destroy MetalGreymon with a Dark Network attack, but smashes the orb with his Metal Claw. Summoning all of the power of the Crest, MetalGreymon defeats Etemon by blasting the Dark Network with his Giga Blaster, ripping open a wormhole and Etemon was banished into the black hole.
However, Etemon was not destroyed; the black hole spit him out and scattered his digital information across the universe. He later came back together and returned to the Digital World only after Digivolving to his Mega form, MetalEtemon. MetalEtemon then started to seek revenge on the Digidestined, but he only found Joe and Mimi. He and Puppetmon got into a fight while Joe, Gomamon, Mimi, Palmon, and Ogremon had time to escape. After he got tired to fighting Puppetmon, he continues to pursue the two remaining Digidestined while SaberLeomon gave them a ride. Leomon confronts MetalEtemon and Digivolved to SaberLeomon to fight him. Gomamon Digivolved to Zudomon to join the fight. Ogremon wants to fight MetalEtemon, but Mimi tries to stop him since he was in no shape to fight. MetalEtemon attacks Mimi, but SaberLeomon takes the blast, fatally wounding him. Zudomon was able to hit MetalEtemon's chest with his Vulcan Hammer attack since it was made of Chrome Digizoid, and SaberLeomon summoned the last of his strength to impale MetalEtemon with his claw, destroying him for good.
MetalSeadramon
MetalSeadramon is the first of the Dark Masters that first attacked the Digidestined and a villain in Digimon Adventure 01, and is resurrected in Digimon Adventure Tri. He resembles Seadramon's Mega form, but his entire body is metal, hence the name.
MetalSeadramon first appears along with the other Dark Masters. MetalSeadramon is one of the first Dark Masters to attack the Digidestined and their Digimon in their Champion forms. MetalSeadramon later hired Scorpiomon to put the Digidestined and their Digimon to sleep (except Mimi, Joe, Palmon, and Gomamon) so he can burn them to a crisp. After Zudomon and Lillymon defeated Scorpiomon, MetalSeadramon decided to burn the Digidestined while they were sleeping, but Mimi, Joe, Lillymon, and Zudomon quickly woke the Digidestined and their Digimon partners up just in time before MetalSeadramon fried the hut. MetalSeadramon then gloated that he thought he toasted the Digidestined and their Digimon partners, but finds out that they're all gone as well as seeing a burning Scorpiomon running to the water . Enraged, MetalSeadramon turned on Scorpiomon and dropped him from a height, killing him.
MetalSeadramon then went in pursuit with the Digidestined and defeated Lillymon and Zudomon, leaving the Digidestined at their mercy. Whamon suddenly came to their rescue and headbutted MetalSeadramon, allowing Whamon and the Digidestined and their Digimon partners to escape. MetalSeadramon sent his other flunkies, the Divermon to find and attack the Digidestined and their Digimon (who are inside Whamon.) When they failed, MetalSeadramon decided to finish off the heroes and attempted to kill WarGreymon by crushing him with his jaws, but Whamon rescued WarGreymon by freeing him out of MetalSeadramon's mouth. Angrily, MetalSeadramon used his River Of Power attack and struck Whamon by the head, killing him. WarGreymon then quickly avenged Whamon's death and killed MetalSeadramon by tunneling through his body, putting an end to the first Dark Master.
Puppetmon
Puppetmon (also known as Pinocchimon in the Japanese version) is the second of the Dark Masters that the Digidestined faced.
Digimon Adventure 01
Puppetmon first appeared when he used the Digidestined as string puppets and attacks them with his Puppet Pummel attack. After MetalSeadramon was killed the DigiDestined go to Puppetmon's lair of Spiral Mountain which is a forest under the contol of Puppetmon's "toys". He lair is a mansion next to a forest.
He used voodoo dolls to let the Digidestined feel funny, and kidnapped T.K. to play a deadly hide and seek game (which had to be severely edited in the English dub, due to the original version involving guns and killing the other participant by shooting them), but T.K. tricked Puppetmon by tearing his map paper apart, destroying his remote, and destroying the television that looked like a camera.
Swearing revenge, Puppetmon summons three Garbagemon to attack the remaining Digidestined during Matt's absence. After Cherrymon tricks Matt and Gabumon into convincing to beat his rival, Tai, he meets up with his master. Just as the excited Puppetmon was going to watch Tai and Matt destroy each other, Cherrymon warns him that underestimating them could lead to a disaster, and to take them seriously. Puppetmon, on the other hand, feels like Cherrymon is letting him down and murders his minion out of anger, ignoring his warning.
While Joe and Mimi were taking care of Ogremon, Puppetmon showed up and Gomamon then Digivolved into his Ultimate form, Zudomon to fight Puppetmon, but he quickly defeated Zudomon.
Just then, Etemon (now as MetalEtemon) showed up and announced his return, but Puppetmon got annoyed by his singing and attacks him, allowing Mimi, Joe, Gomamon, Palmon and Ogremon to escape while MetalEtemon is distracted by the marionette. After tired of fighting MetalEtemon, Puppetmon returns to his mansion. The other Digidestined snuck into his mansion with Floramon and Deramon (who betrayed Puppetmon) did a sneak attack by shooting a cannon at Puppetmon just as he was returning. Angrily, Puppetmon ran, dodging the cannon attacks and Floramon and Deramon ran Digidestined then confront Puppetmon in a final showdown. At first, Puppetmon tricked the Digidestined by following him, then summoned a group of RedVegiemon, but were quickly defeated one by one. Puppetmon then used WarGreymon as a marionette to get the Digidestined, only to be knocked out by MegaKabuterimon and Garudamon destroys his hammer.
Just as Puppetmon was about to lose, he remembered Cherrymon's advice, and he summoned his "monster" mansion to keep the Digidestined busy while Puppetmon takes the opportunity to escape, as well as killing a remaining RedVegiemon along the way.
Just then, MetalGarurumon suddenly shows up, and Puppetmon orders him to attack the Digidestined, but he refused. Confused, Puppetmon tries to control MetalGarurumon as a marionette, but no avail. Matt showed up and told Puppetmon that no friends will be on his side because he didn't care about them. Angered, Puppetmon attacks, but MetalGarurumon destroys Puppetmon with his Metal Wolf Claw attack. Upon dying, Puppetmon asks Cherrymon's voice about what he dosen't have but the kids do, which is friends, then succumbs to his death. His mansion also collapsed upon his demise. Upon Puppetmon's defeat, the forest begins to disappear.
Machinedramon
Machinedramon (known as Mugendramon in the Japanese version) is a Virus type Mega Level Digimon that is hypothesized to be the ultimate "Dramon" and Cyber Digimon in general. This is because it posseses parts of other ones, namely Megadramon, MetalTyrannomon, MetalMamemon, MetalGreymon and Andromon. It has appeared as an antagonist on several occasions in different Digimon media.
It was the second biggest of the Dark Masters and is the Dark Master who was defeated by the Digidestined the quickest (2 episodes) in the English version, while in the Japanese version it appeared in as many episodes as MetalSeadramon. During the time the DigiDestined were fighting Myotismon in Tokyo, Machinedramon had taken to ruling over the city portion of Spiral Mountain. Machinedramon was the ruler of the Digital City, which looked like a fusion of the prominent cities on Earth.
He can also be considered responsible for Ken Ichijoji's transformation into the Digimon Emperor.
He is also the main antagonist's most powerful slave Digimon in Digimon World and the final boss of said game.
Digimon Adventure 01
In his first appearance with the other Dark Masters, he unexpectedly attacked Angemon and then attacked the 7 Ultimate Level Digimon before they could attack him and defeated them. After Puppetmon was defeated, the Digidestined wandered into Machinedramon's territory along a road in the middle of nowhere, until Kari developed a fever and kept passing-out, making Tai upset since this brings memories from his childhood past with Kari. Izzy sent Tentomon to look for help, he soon Digivolves into Kabuterimon and transports everybody to a city that has famous buildings from Earth fused into one big city. They soon find a house for Kari to rest while being watched over by T.K., Patamon, Gatomon, Sora and Biyomon. Tai, Agumon, Izzy and Tentomon went into the city to look for a hospital in search of medicine for Kari. Izzy used his laptop and plugged it into the network to find one, unaware of Machinedramon's Hagurumon tracking them every time Izzy used his Laptop.
Machinedramon sent his Metal Empire troops to hunt them down. Tai, Agumon, Izzy and Tentomon managed to escape the carnage from the hospital getting the medicine. The third time Izzy uses his Laptop and discovers that they are tracking him by him plugging into the network. Izzy decided to do a little trick, Hagurumon soon become confused when the network has been accessed from different points in the city, but this back fires as Machinedramon ordered plan Operation Elimin-8 (pun on the word eliminate), which consisted of having Megadramon and Gigadramon destroy every single building. But this doesn't work, so Machinedramon decided to finish them off himself. After the house everyone was staying in blows up, Tai finds the others have escaped just before bombing commenced. Machinedramon appears and everyone runs into a building, which collapses into the ground because of Machinedramon's Giga Cannon attack. The Digidestined then sink underground. Machinedramon then assumed that they were dead.
Later on Kari manages to recover from her fever and is well again, Sora, Biyomon, T.K, Patomon and Gatomon then soon set off to find Tai and Izzy since they landed somewhere else. However they soon find a WaruMonzaemon who is a Slave Master to the hundreds of Numemon who are used to power Machinedramon's City. Kari then gets possessed once again by the odd-spirit that spoke to the Digidestined through her body, while WaruMonzaemon gets distracted by Sora, the spirit possessing Kari frees the Numemon and they start calling her 'Queen Kari'. When Sora, T.K, Patamon and Biyomon meet up with Kari and all the Numemon, WaruMonzaemon bursts in to find the Numemon have turned against him and begin to attack, when Kari's body starts to glow in light, the energy from her allows Patamon, Gatomon and Biyomon to digivolve and give Numemon enough energy to get back up. WaruMonzaemon is then badly injured and escapes, while the spirit possessing Kari's body leads the way to Tai and Izzy. WaruMonzaemon reports to Machinedramon that the Digidestined are still alive and Machinedramon is angry that he didn't tell him sooner and as a "reward", he blasts WaruMonzaemon's arm off (Machinedramon kills him in the Japanese version). Tai and Izzy soon find Andromon who is trying to build up a resistance force to stop Machinedramon, and also fix a dripping pipe. Machinedramon appeared and Andromon managed to hold him off for Tai and Izzy to find the others. Soon everyone is back together, however Andromon is defeated, but is able to get back up to his feet. Not even the combined efforts of Andromon, Angemon, Angewomon and Birdramon can defeat Machinedramon. When he wants the first victim to be killed, Kari approaches him, but the Numemon cover his body to save 'Queen Kari'. The slug Digimon try to stop Machinedramon but were wiped out easily by the villain's "Catastrophe" attack. Kari collapses and Agumon is hit by a beam of light, causing him to Warp-Digivolve to WarGreymon. He charges up to Machinedramon, slicing him up "like an onion" with his Dramon Destroyers before regressing back to Koromon. Machinedramon starts to split and disappear.
Despite being cut into pieces, Machinedramon manages to survive, though barely, and meets a dying Kimeramon, they DNA digivolve to form Millenniummon.
Digimon Adventure 02
Machinedramon, in his new form Millenniummon, was momentarily seen in a flashback being destroyed by Ken and Ryo. He tried to infect Ryo with a Dark Spore, but Ken pushed him out of the way and the spore hit him instead, leading to him becoming the Digimon Emperor.
Piedmon
Piedmon (also known as Piemon in the Japanese version) is the secondary antagonist in Digimon Adventure 01. He is the incredibly powerful leader of the four Dark Masters and the most devoted follower of Apocalymon. Piedmon had the power of psychokinesis, to mentally control the swords on his back. He could also take on many shapes, seen in his first confrontation with the DigiDestined. He had the power to change other objects, including humans and other Digimon, into key chains. He also appeared to have telekinesis; for instance, he once remotely attacked Greymon while Tai and Izzy were being pursued by the armies of fellow Dark Master Machinedramon. He is the fourth arch-nemesis of the Digidestined.
He was voiced by Derek Stephen Prince in the English version, who also voiced DemiDevimon, Digitamamon, Impmon, Grumblemon and Beelzemon. Derek Stephen Prince also voiced Elgar and Vexen. In the Japanese version, he was voiced by the late Chikao Ohtsuka, who also voiced Apocalymon, Master Xehanort, Doctor Eggman, Professor Gerald Robotnik and Doctor Cid.
Digimon Adventure 01
The deadliest of the Dark Masters, Piedmon was their leader and probably has the most extensive history of all the Digimon the DigiDestined faced. He was around before the DigiDestined came to the Digital World to begin with and before the DigiDestined's Digimon were born, a product of Apocalymon's influence. Piedmon knew of the plot by Gennai and his followers to bring the DigiDestined into the Digital World to save it. With an army of Guardromon and Mekanorimon, he attempted to steal the DigiDestined's arsenal. However, he was unable to get to them when Gennai charged forward and attacked him. The Dark Master in turn placed an orb into Gennai's back. Gennai took the Digi-Eggs and flew off with them in a Mekanorimon. With the exception of Gatomon's Digi-Egg and Digivice, that dropped somewhere on the Continent of Server (which explained why she wasn't with the rest of the Digimon), Gennai succeeded in taking the remaining Digi-Eggs and the seven Digivices to File Island. However, Piedmon obtained the Crests and Tags, giving them to Devimon to hide. Devimon hid the Tags in the Net Ocean while he scattered the eight Crests everywhere in the Continent of Server.
When the DigiDestined did eventually arrive in the DigiWorld, their battles wound up bringing them back to Earth, to stop the plans of Myotismon. In the years (of DigiWorld time) that they were away, Piedmon, and the other Dark Masters - MetalSeadramon, Puppetmon and Machinedramon - rose up and conquered the digital world, reformatting it's digital matter into the massive Spiral Mountain. At the mountain's peak was Piedmon's base of operations - an observatory-like building, from which he could observe all goings on across Spiral Mountain. When the DigiDestined returned to the DigiWorld, the Dark Masters all attacked them at once. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon battled Piedmon, but he cut them down with his Trump Sword attack. He then threw a dagger at Mimi, irritated by her whining, but Chuumon leapt in front of it, sacrificing himself. Piximon then showed up, and distracted the Dark Masters long enough for the kids to escape.
After returning to the Digital World, when the DigiDestined first encountered Piedmon in the form of a clown, narrating their impending doom before revealing himself. From there, he easily defeated WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon because he had far more experience. Before confronting the Digidestined, he sent his servant LadyDevimon to kill them, who failed. He fought them and nearly killed WarGreymon, but Matt and Garurumon showed and healed WarGreymon. Because he saved himself for the end, MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon were able to gain experience from their fights with the other three Dark Masters and back him into a corner. To avoid a losing-battle with them, he turned them, along with Andromon (who was able to put up a good fight despite being outmatched) and the other DigiDestined (except for Mimi, Lillymon, Kari, T.K. and Angemon) into inanimate key chains. He was briefly held off by Angemon, but then sent T.K and Kari off a cliff by cutting a rope they were holding on to. However, T.K was able to Digivolve Angemon into MagnaAngemon, who easily beat Piedmon, plunging him off the cliff, and MagnaAngemon turned everyone back to normal.
Not admitting defeat, Piedmon survived the fall from the cliff and summons several Vilemon to attack the heroes, but Mimi, Lillymon and her Digimon allies showed up on time and take down the Vilemon with ease. MagnaAngemon opens the Gate Of Destiny and the remaining Vilemon were banished and imprisoned. WarGreymon, MetalGarurumon, and MagnaAngemon finally defeat Piedmon for good by banishing and imprisoning him into the Gate of Destiny with no hope to escape and return. With Piedmon defeated, the Dark Masters' control over the Digital World has ended for good.
It is unclear as to whether the Gate of Destiny destroys its victims or seals them away; if the latter, Piedmon presumably perished along with the rest of Apocalymon's creations when Apocalymon was destroyed.
Harpymon
Harpymon was a minor villain in Digimon Tamers and Digimon Fusion.
Digimon Tamers
A Harpymon Bio-Emerged in the Real World and attacked Renamon. Initially, Renamon battled without her Tamer, Rika Nonaka, as the two had internal conflict on whether or not they needed each other. Renamon knocked out Harpymon with a flurry of punches, but instead of absorbing her data she stood serenely and contemplated the pointlessness of fighting without her partner at her side. This pause allowed Harpymon to recover from her injuries, and she knocked Renamon to the ground with her Wind Seeker. She tried to impale Renamon with her sharp talons; Harpymon's inattention to her surroundings gave Rika the opportunity to pick up a tree branch and stab her in the back. Harpymon lunged at Rika, ready to kill her. Suddenly, Calumon's forehead glowed and he activated Renamon's power to digivolve to Kyubimon, her Champion form. Kyubimon quickly destroyed Harpymon, and refrained from absorbing her data as she promised.
Digimon Fusion (season 3)
Harpymon appeared in DigiQuartz where she hynotised Yu's father and fed off his negative emotions. She was defeated by Arresterdramon and was captured by Tagiru.
The Devas
The Deva (デーヴァ Dēva?) are a group of twelve Ultimate-level Holy Beast Digimon that are derived from the Buddhist myth of the Twelve Heavenly Generals, deities who protected the Bhaiṣajyaguru. The Twelve Heavenly Generals were eventually conflated with the animals of the Chinese zodiac in Japanese Buddhism, and so the Deva are also representative of those figures. The Deva are followers of the Digimon Sovereigns, and each Sovereign has three Deva subordinates.
The Deva share many similarities beyond their basis. Nearly all of the Deva have three horns and red eyes, and each wears Chinese-styled armor with a red or purple scarf. Each of the Deva wields a signature weapon which is named in Chinese, with the form "Bǎo X" (宝X? lit. "Treasure X"), where "X" is a generic type of weapon. Although the Twelve Heavenly Generals of Buddhist mythology were each armed with a specific weapon, some of these are switched around for the Deva Digimon. For example, the generals Śaṇḍilya and Indra wield a shell and a lance, respectively, while Sandiramon and Indramon wield a lance and a shell, respectively. Finally, each Deva's Special Move is named after one of the Naraka mentioned in the Vishnu Purana, which usually has some relation either to the Deva's zodiac animal or weapon.
Nico: Oh man! Devimon, Etemon, The Dark Masters and Harpymon!
Takato: And the Devas!
Devimon: Its been a long time Nicolas. I see you haven't forgotten about me after all these years.
Nico: I thought we were rid of you for good after everything that happened Devimon.
T.K.: I will never forgive you for your crimes Devimon!
Zhuqiaomon: Servants it's great you are all back.
Indramon: It is great to be back my sovereign.
Antylamon: We are ready to serve you all once again.
Azulongmon: Excellent. We missed having you all here.
Etemon: (Impersonating Elvis) And we're not going to serve this witch. Huhuhuhuhuh.
Nico: Whoa man. But we're gonna make you pay for your crimes Devimon! Just like we did 13 years ago!
Jeri Katou: And for hurting Leomon!
Etemon, The Dark Masters, the Devas and Harpymon went over to them.
Ms. Wentworth: What are you doing? I brought you back!
Etemon: And now we're turning against you, bitch! Uh huhuhuhuh.
Sinnertwin: I honestly didn't see this coming.
Piedmon: You guys have the usual battles. We'll take care of Wentworth and the others!
Nico: Coming from you Piedmon this is everything.
Dayu, Ranamon, Mercurymon, Beetle, 2016 Morbucks, Titanium Titan, Patty & Selma, and Onyx then appeared.
Nico: Dayu, Ranamon, Mercurymon, Beetle, 2016 Morbucks, Titanium Titan, Patty & Selma, and Onyx.
Dayu: Strange seeing all of you guys here.
Mercurymon: And was that Devimon, Etemon, the Dark Masters, Harpymon and the 12 Devas that we saw?
Nico: Oh yeah. That's them.
Jeri Katou: I'm going to make that ugly freak suffer for hurting Leomon!
Ranamon: Does Jeri have a bad history with Devimon?
Nico: Not nearly as bad as me and T.K. do. I helped Tai and friends destroy him and Patamon turned into Angemon and made the ultimate sacrifice to destroy Devimon for good.
Ranamon: Oh man!
2016 Morbucks: That's terrible!
Nico: No kidding.
We were searching for the Thief.
Duskmon: There's the thief!
We saw a figure dressed in a black cloak and we went after it.
Larxene went at the figure fast as lightning and pounced on it and I took the cloak off and it was VIGNETTE VALENCIA!
Vignette Valencia is the (former) main antagonist in the Equestria Girls hour-long special Rollercoaster of Friendship.
Vignette Valencia first appears in Rollercoaster of Friendship overseeing the costume designs for Equestria Land's nighttime light parade, but her overbearing demands cause her costume designer to quit. While indulging in some "stress salad", her cell phone gets enchanted by Equestrian magic, allowing her to digitize anything she takes a picture of and project a hologram of it.
Vignette hires Rarity to be the new costume designer for the light parade, and the two grow close over their shared passions, causing Applejack to become jealous. When Vignette learns Rarity and her friends are in a band, she decides to make them the centerpiece of the parade. However, her vision for the band involves changing its name and drastically altering the girls' public image. When Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash disagree with Vignette's vision, she digitizes them and captures them inside her phone.
When Applejack realizes what Vignette is doing, she confronts Vignette but fails to convince her friends of the truth, eventually resulting in a heated falling-out between her and Rarity. The rest of the girls know Applejack would never lie, but Vignette captures them as well before they can oppose her. With most of the Rainbooms digitized, Vignette takes over as the lead band member and replaces the Rainbooms members with holograms. Rarity soon learns the truth about Vignette's motives, seeing that her friends looked completely different and demanded her to bring them back, but Vignette attempted to trap Rarity too, but she used her diamond shield magic to block the flash as Rarity argues with Vignette how she never should've listened to her over Applejack and escapes before Vignette can digitize her as well, as Vignette decided to take over designing for the parade.
After Applejack and Rarity make amends and discover their friends were simply teleported into a small, white room the whole time, but then they realized Vignette uses her phone to get rid of things she doesn't like and replaces them with holograms of her ideas, but they also noticed she could use the phone on the audience who wouldn't like the parade and could have a large mount of them squished in one tiny room, they confront Vignette together during the light parade before she can use her phone to teleport the whole crowd (who were booing her poor singing abilities). They transform and power up, and Rarity uses their combined power to destroy Vignette's phone, having Vignette defeated and completely upset. In the aftermath, Rarity convinces Vignette that success and popularity should never come at the cost of one's friends, and she and Applejack offer Vignette true friendship.
Me: I knew it! Vignette Valencia.
Vignette: That's right J.D. (Crying hard) I'm sorry!
Me: Huh? But why? Rarity told me that you and she are good friends.
Vignette: Because she force me to.
Zarya: Who did?
Vignette: Demon Shimmer! (Crying) She needed jewels for her empire.
Me: Well it looks like we have the jewels.
Vignette: I know exactly what you guys plan to do to me! (points gun at her head) WELL, I'M NOT GIVING YOU ALL THE SATISFACTION!
Xaldin: Okay. Let's all just take it easy.
I snapped my fingers and teleported the gun to me.
Me: Vignette do you think killing yourself will make you feel better!?
Vignette: Yes it will!
Zarya: No it won't! All it will lead you to is eternal damnation! Is that what you want!? To be damned and burning forever in the fires of Hell?
Me: Rarity would not want this to happen to you Vignette. You helped her and she helped you. Don't throw away your life all just because Demon Shimmer made it worse.
Goemon: That's right Vignette. Suicide has no honor and no meaning.
Yae: All it will lead you to is your own darkness of pain.
Me: That's right Valencia. You have a chance to redeem yourself and make a better name for yourself. Don't throw your friends and your life away all because you were forced into this.
Vignette then broke down crying and I comforted her.
Dayu: So this is Camelot, huh?
Maria: It sure is.
Mercurymon: This is a really nice place.
Beetle: (bows to King Arthur) It's an honor to be here, your majesty.
King Arthur: The honor is all mine.
Ranamon: (to Wentworth) It's funny. We were thinking of who else to recruit and you just gave 6 new members to us on a silver platter.
Wentworth: Really?
Nico: Yep and they are Etemon, Piedmon, MetalSeadramon, Harpymon, Machinedramon and Puppetmon. And it's ironic. The Dark Masters all went from bad guys to Frenemies.
Lana: It sure is. We heard many stories about the Dark Masters from Nico and they put up an incredible challenge.
Nico: Yeah they sure did. Myotismon is my archenemy and who will the rest minus Devimon be?
Etemon: I'm gonna be Jake Holling's Archenemy.
Piedmon: I chose Kurumu.
MetalSeadramon: I chose Noah Carver.
Harpymon: And I chose Orion.
Nico: Cool! But who will Machinedramon and Puppetmon have as their archenemies?
Machinedramon: We're still figuring that out.
Puppetmon: But as long as I have an opponent that can keep up with me.
Nico: You'll find one.
?: There is plenty out there.
A figure came out and it was SINISTER SIMIAN from episode 28 of Season 3 of Mighty Morphin!
Katherine Hillard's chimp Kelly was transformed into Sinister Simian by Lord Zedd. Sinister Simian's scratches would reflect her face on the Ranger's chests. Alpha 5 tried to fight her but she scoffed at his lack of battle prowess. Returned to normal with an antidote missile from Blue Shogunzord.
Tommy Oliver: Sinister Simian!
Nico: I remember you! You were made from Kat's chimp Kelly.
Sinister Simian: That's right. Good memory on you Nico. Just as sharp as J.D.'s memory.
Nico: Like him I never missed an episode.
Kat: Kelly?
Sinister Simian: Sorry. But I'm not Kelly. I'm seperate from your pet monkey.
Monkey: (Chittering)
Sinister Simian: It will be cool fighting you all as a separate being.
Simion: I think so too.
Sinister Simian: Weren't you one of the first monkeys in space?
Simion: I sure was.
Nico: Wow. That still shocks me that you went through all that.
Fluttershy: Why what happened?
Simion: It was a really ugly story.
Simion went over his story. It happened during the Space Race during the Cold War.
More than half a century ago, Simion was a regular chimpanzee who was selected as the pilot of an experimental NASA space capsule during the space race era and was set to be the first monkey in space, until a crack in the ship's hull created an explosion that hurled him toward a radioactive energy belt. The gamma radiation altered his appearance and mind giving him an enhanced physique and intelligence. He then began training his new body and expanding his knowledge and skill through meditation, soon being able to create matter merely by thought. With his new abilities, he created a whole new world from his thoughts and once he established his empire he created an immense warship from scrap in over half a century, and assembled an army to help him destroy the world and the humans that ruined his life despite his suffering having been caused by an accident.
They gasped in shock.
Nico: Oh man! That was over 60 years ago!
May: Oh man! But that was an accident and we had nothing to do with it.
Simion: I know. But Monkey showed me kindness and helped me abandon my goals of wiping out humans for ruining my life. I now realized that I was a fool for letting my hatred of you all getting the better of me.
Nico: It's not your fault. It was all an accident. But you can use your new amazing powers for good now.
Simion: And I plan to.
Nico: Awesome. Lets get them!
Myotismon then appeared.
Myotismon: My old friends. Good to see you all again.
Etemon: Myotismon. Same to you.
MetalSeadramon: This is gonna be interesting.
They powered up and went at them!

Princess Luna: It sure is sister.
Princess Cadance: How many species of Digimon are there?
Princess Amore: I think there's over 1200+ Species.
Flurry Heart: Wow! And we're looking at 6 of those Digimon. All enemies of Nico and the Digidestined. Devimon seems to be the worst out of all of them.
Lilly Crystal: Yeah I can tell that Nico has a bad history with him.
Cloud Star: But what is Jeri's story with him?
Dayu: I think it might have something to do with him and Leomon.
Snowdrop: Right! Nico said that he poisoned Leomon with evil.
Gari: Devimon has to be destroyed.
Star Swirl: And never be reconfigured.
Joe Shimamura: Yeah he is pure evil.
Runo: He will be shown the light.
Blade Tigrerra: Yeah!
Coconuts: Yeah! Yeah!
Grounder: He can't see the light of its dark.
BONK!
Scratch hit Grounder on the head.
Scratch: No you dumb-bot! It means he will pay the price for his crimes.
Mihiramon: And be brought to justice for his crimes.
Sandiramon: And he will face his crimes 10-fold.
Dayu: I agree.
Emma: Lets do it! LEGENDARY RANGER MODE! S.P.D.!

Rainbow Dash: I've never been understanding of all that physics stuff and all that.
Scootaloo: Yeah it's too complex for me.
