1977, LUKE IS 21, DAISY 20, AND BO 19. I DON'T KNOW WHY I KEEP SAYING THIS BC I DON'T THINK ANYONE CARES, BUT I'LL SAY IT ANYWAY: I DON'T OWN THE DUKES OF HAZZARD. THERE. OK DONE. I SAID IT. NOW ON WITH THE STORY…

A few days later, the boys they took the General to Cooter's garage so he could fix it for them, and it was also due for an oil change.

"So, how much'll it cost?" Luke asked after telling Cooter what he wanted him to do.

"About $200."

"What if we did the oil change ourselves?" Bo asked.

"I wasn't charging you for the labor of the oil change, just the oil itself." Cooter knew how poor the Dukes were.

"We have some back at the farm, I reckon we can just do it there." Luke sighed.

"Okay, now it will be about $160." Cooter looked at his notepad.

"How about we give you $150 now and owe you 10 bucks? That's all we got." Luke suggested.

"Sounds good. I'll get started right away." Cooter pocketed the $150 that Luke handed him.

"Will it go faster if we help?" Bo walked over to Cooter.

"Of course it would!" Cooter picked up some tools.

"Good, because I want the General looking smart again." Bo ran his hand across the roof.

"You know, you boys drive this thing like you're done with it?" Cooter laughed.

"Well, it wasn't my fault, Luke was driving!" Bo laughed, pointing at Luke.

"Yeah, well it seems to me that you were the one who said 'lets see if you can't weave in and out of them there trees without scratching the car.'" Luke reminded him.

"Yeah, but, you was in possession of the steering wheel!" Bo laughed.

"Still, it was your idea." Luke rolled his eyes

"I have been through those trees a million times without even scratching the General so, I thought that it would be easy." Bo stated mater of factly. Cooter could see that this friendly discussion was about to become a heated argument.

"Why don't you go into the back and get me that new fender, Bo?" Cooter asked.

"Sure thing." Bo went to the back of the garage and started looking for the fender.

"How did he get to be a better driver than me? I'm older than him!" Luke asked Cooter.

"I guess he's just naturally better at it. But hey, you could beat him in a fight so, don't feel bad." Cooter laughed.

"You know, you're right about that." Luke crossed his arms, pleased that Cooter had reminded him of something that he did much better than Bo did. Cooter had always broken up fights between the two Dukes, ever since Bo was old enough to speak.

"I don't see no fender back here, Cooter!" Bo called. Cooter snickered and looked at Luke.

"Oh, yeah, I forgot, its out on my truck." Cooter winked at Luke. Bo ran out to Cooter's truck.

"Hey, thanks, Cooter." Luke knew what Cooter had done; separating them so that they wouldn't get into an argument.

"No problem." Cooter replied. Bo came back, this time, with the fender.

"You sure you can't just beat the dents outta the old one?" Bo asked, setting down the fender.

"Nope, I'm afraid you guys really creamed it this time." Cooter laughed. Bo scowled at Luke, then walked outside.

"What's the matter with him?" Luke asked.

"Ain't it obvious? He's mad at you for creaming the car." Cooter replied as he pulled the old fender, or what was left of it, off.

"He never gets this mad over a smashed fender unless someone else did it to us and we had to pay for it." Luke scratched his chin.

"Well, you did it, and he has to help pay for it." Cooter offered.

"He still wouldn't be this mad."

"Ya don't think so?" No one had noticed that Bo had walked back inside, and was standing with his hands on his hips, glaring at Luke.

"You weren't mad when we got here, now what's going on?" Luke asked.

"I was, I just wasn't showing it!" Bo sat on the beloved car's hood, putting his head down. Luke couldn't see his eyes though the mop of blonde hair that surrounded the towhead's face, but he could tell that Bo was crying, something that Bo never did unless something was very wrong. Dukes didn't cry often, especially not the men.

Not knowing how to respond, Luke kept his distance, not wanting to enrage him even more. After about 5 minutes had passed, Luke slowly walked over to their car.

"Sorry that I smashed the General, Bo." Luke knew that wasn't all that was upsetting his cousin, but this would be a good start at finding out what was. Bo cleared his throat and swallowed hard, trying to remove any evidence that he had been crying.

"You'd better be." Bo discreetly wiped his eyes.

"I am." Luke put his hand on the General's hood.

"Okay, I forgive you." Bo offered his hand for Luke to shake, keeping his head down. Luke complied and shook Bo's hand.

"Just about 15 more minutes and the General Lee will be as good as new!" Cooter broke the silence.

"Thanks, Cooter." Luke sat down on some boxes.

Just as promised, 15 minutes later Cooter was tossing the keys in the boy's direction. Luke caught them and offered them to Bo, who has still sulking on the hood.

"You wanna drive?" Luke asked.

"You caught the keys." Bo climbed in the passenger window. Luke slipped in the drivers side, thanked Cooter, and started the car, filling Cooter's garage with the smell of burning rubber as he sped away.

When they arrived at the farm, Luke got out and Bo slid back through to the driver's side.

"I'm gonna borrow the General Lee, bye." Bo did a 180 and sped away.

"What in the?" Luke walked into the house.

"Hey, Boys. Did you get the General all fixed up?" Jesse didn't look up from the vegetables he was chopping.

"Yeah, but Bo took off. He's mad about somethin'." Luke sat down.

"Where did he go?" Jesse asked, looking up from his vegetables.

"I don't know, he just sped away." Luke poured a glass of water.

"Go find him." Jesse instructed.

"He's in a real bad mood, Uncle Jesse." Luke didn't want to find Bo, it would just make Bo more angry.

"I know, and I know why, too. Please bring him home." Jesse replied.

"What's wrong with him, why is he so depressed and angry?" Luke asked.

"He can tell you if he wants to, but otherwise, I'll tell you after you bring him home." Jesse handed Luke an inhaler.

"I've already got one for him." Luke patted his pocket as he walked out the door to Jesse's truck. "I'll CB Daisy and tell her to look for him on her way home from the Boar's Nest." Luke called as he got in the truck.

"You better let me call the Boar's Nest. If he hears that we're looking for him over the CB all hell'll bust loose." Jesse called back. Luke drove off in the direction that Bo had gone, not 10 minutes ago.

Daisy got the call at the Boar's Nest just as she was about to leave. She got in her Road Runner and took off looking for Bo.

Meanwhile, Bo was sitting on top of the General Lee, which he had parked next to the Hazzard County pond and carwash. Since he didn't think anyone was looking for him, he didn't bother to hide. Soon, Daisy drove up and walked over to the General.

"What are you doing out here, honey?" Daisy asked.

"Jus' thinking." Bo replied.

"I was just on my way home from the Boar's Nest when I saw you here." Daisy white lied. "What's wrong, sugar?" Daisy put her hand on his arm.

"Nothing." Bo wasn't crying like he had been before, but he was visibly upset.

"Come on, Bo, somethings wrong, I can tell." Daisy pushed.

"I got mad at Luke 'cause I was mad about something else. I think I hurt his feelings." Bo sighed, admitting only one of the reasons that he was upset.

"Let's go home and you can apologize to him." Daisy suggested.

"Alright." Bo slid back into the General Lee and followed Daisy home. His anger from earlier in the day had turned to sadness so, he was able to come home and apologize to Luke.

As soon as Daisy got in her car, she CB'd Bo to see if the General's CB was turned on.

"Bo peep to lost sheep #2, you got your ears on?" No response. "Bo peep to Shepard, you got your ears on?" Daisy called Jesse.

"This is Shepard, go ahead."

"I found Bo. He's coming home, but he don't know that we was lookin' for him and I think it'd be best if it stayed that way."

"Alright. You hear that Luke?" Jesse asked.

"Yeah, I heard. I'll stop off at Rheubottom's and pick up some stuff as an excuse as to why I was out, I'm gone." Luke drove off to Rheubottom's.

Daisy and Bo drove up at the farm house and walked into the kitchen where Jesse was making dinner. "Hey, kids. Luke went to Rheubottom's to pick up some things. He'll be home in time for dinner."

"Okay." Daisy and Bo sat down at the table.

"Daisy, honey, could you give us a minute?" Jesse asked his niece.

"Of course, Uncle Jesse." Daisy smiled and headed to her room.

"Stop sulking around Bo, you need to tell your cousins: they's worried about you." Jesse put his arm around Bo's back.

"It will make their lives easier if they never know." Bo sighed.

"No it won't. They'll always be worrying on you if you don't tell them."

"They'll worry on me even more if I do tell them."

"It'll just be like its always been."

"Yeah, well, I don't like how its always been."

"I know you haven't. None of us have, but we have always been willing to take care of you."

"I'm just such a burden."

"No you ain't young man, and don't you never say that again!"

"What am I s'posed to do?"

"You're supposed to keep managing it like we always have."

"But, Uncle Jesse, it ain't fair! All the dang doctors lied!"

"They didn't say it 'would' go away, they said it would 'probably' go away."

"I hadn't had an attack for like almost a month, you'd think that that means I've grown out of it, but no!"

"Count your blessings, son. Not havin' an attack fer a month is a good thing."

Jesse finished making the dinner just as Luke pulled up in the truck, carrying a back of seed out to the barn. He had just bought the cheapest bag he could find, seeing as how they didn't need anything from the store 'ceptin an alibi. Luke walked in to the kitchen and everyone was sitting down, waiting for him. Luke washed his hands and sat.

"Sorry for getting mad at you today." Bo looked at Luke.

"Hey, its no problem. We all have our days." Luke smiled. Jesse prayed and they ate.

After dinner Bo asked Jesse to help him tell his older cousins about his problem. They all met in the living room.

"Ya'll I just want to start by saying that I love you. Very much." Bo looked at the floor and shut his eyes tight, restraining tears.

"We love you, too, Bo." They all chorused.

"I need to tell you two something and I asked Uncle Jesse to help me." Bo stated. Jesse wrapped his arm around his nephew's shoulders.

"Go on, Bo." Jesse requested.

"You know how we all thought that since I hadn't had an attack in a month that maybe I had grown out of asthma? Well I haven't. I had several attacks the other day, an' the Doc says if it hasn't gone away by now it'll more than likely stay around permanent." Bo tightened all of his muscles.

"I'm sorry to hear that, Bo." Luke put a hand on the side of Bo's neck. Jesse released his nephew, seeing that it was Luke and Daisy's turn to hold him.

"It'll be okay, sugar." Daisy pulled Bo's head down and kissed his forehead.

"We'll get through it, Bo." Luke pulled his baby brother into a hug.

"Sure we will, we always have." Daisy remarked.

"Thanks y'all." Bo was pleased with his family's reaction. He thought they were going to be annoyed with him as he had been with himself since the doctor had told him and Jesse the bad news.
