1980, SPRINGTIME TO BE EXACT. I DON'T OWN THE DUKES OF HAZZARD. GOD, THAT HURTS MORE EACH TIME! ANYHOW, ON WITH THE STORY.

It had started off as a hot, sweaty, spring day so, Daisy had opened all of the windows in the house to let the wind flow through and try to cool them down a little.

"Daisy?" Bo walked into Daisy's room, where she was folding clothes.

"What is it, sugar?" She asked.

"Can we please close some of the windows, now?" Bo sniffed.

"Why? It's so hot." Daisy asked.

"I'm allergic to something and it's gonna give me an asthma attack." Bo lowered his head in shame.

"Oh, alright." Daisy sighed. She hated that Bo was so limited by asthma. At every turn: 'I can't because of my asthma.' she felt really bad for him.

"Sorry." Bo trudged out of the room and started closing windows, leaving Daisy's window open, after all, it was her bedroom. Bo felt horrible about making his family suffer on his account. He went into his and Luke's bedroom and laid on his bed, boots and all.

Soon after, Luke came in to get something. Seeing Bo laying in bed during the daytime, he figured something must be wrong with him.

"You alright, cuz?" Luke asked him.

"Sure." Bo sighed.

"You ain't hurt 'nor nothin'?"

"No, I'm okay." Bo turned his head in the other direction.

Ah, Bo wasn't physically hurt, he was emotionally hurt. Luke decided to leave him alone until he was ready to talk about it.

In Daisy's room, Daisy had just finished folding her clothes and was getting ready to leave for the Boar's Nest when Luke walked into her room.

"Did something happen to Bo this morning?" He asked.

"I think he feels bad about closing the windows, why, is he okay?" Daisy asked.

"He's laying around in our room." Luke replied.

"He was allergic to something outside so, he asked if he could close the windows. I reckon he feels bad about it." Daisy put her hair brush down and fluffed her hair.

"Poor guy." Luke sighed.

"Well, it is pretty hot in here. We can't even have the windows open, I mean seriously, it can't be that bad." Daisy rolled her eyes, then realizing the meaning of what she had said, she put her hand to her mouth and gasped quietly, but it was too late.

"You wanna repat that?" Luke took a step towards her, but Daisy wasn't afraid: she knew that neither of her cousins would ever do anything to hurt her.

"Allergic reactions can cause asthma attacks, Daisy. Now you wouldn't want that… or maybe you would!" Luke raised his voice louder than he had intended to.

"How dare you say that! You know I would never wish that on him!" Daisy yelled even louder, she hadn't meant for Luke to get that impression.

"The why'd you open the windows?" Luke shot back.

"Because it's so dang hot in here! I am really getting sick of all of his problems!" Daisy yelled.

"I ain't believing this!" Luke tossed his hands and left the room.

"Not, him, his problems!" Daisy clarified, feeling guilty as soon as she realized that Bo could hear her.

Bo had heard it all and was climbing out the bedroom window and into the General Lee. Dust filled the air as he sped away.

"Now you got him all upset!" Luke yelled, coming back into Daisy's room.

"I'm sorry, I got way out of line, I don't know what got into me." Daisy sighed.

"You sure did! You've really hurt him Daisy! I'll be damned if he ever comes back!" Luke yelled at her.

"Well, I'll be damned if the day comes when you quit over protecting him!" Daisy got angry again.

"Oh, so now it's my fault?" Luke tossed his hands.

"What in tarnation is going on in here?" Jesse stormed in.

"Daisy said a bunch of nasty things about Bo so he took off." Luke pointed at her.

"I just got upset because it's really hot in here, and because of Bo's lungs, I can't have the windows open. I guess I vented my anger in the wrong place. It ain't Bo's fault nor Luke's that Bo's got asthma. I'm sorry I went off the deep end." Daisy wiped her eyes: she had never been mad at Bo, she felt bad for him because of his condition and she was getting a little annoyed by it herself. Asthma had been stealing from the Dukes since Bo was 5.

"Heck, I got a little more mad than what was called for, I'm sorry." Luke wanted Jesse off his case so he could go find his cousin and make sure he was alright.

"Now, Luke, get in my truck and find Bo before he hurts himself." Jesse ordered, seeing that Luke was quite concerned about Bo, just as he was.

"Yes sir." Luke took the keys and went out the door.

Daisy felt bad about how she had treated Bo so, she sat glumly in her room for a while before getting in her Plymouth to try and find him, too.

Meanwhile, poor Bo was throwing rocks at trees in the Mud Flats. He was mostly hurt by Daisy's words, but when you hurt Bo's feelings, he gets mad, hence the rock throwing. Luke decided to call Bo on the CB to see exactly what kind of mood he was in.

"Bo, you out there, this is Luke, come back."

"What is it?"

"Are you alright?"

"Don't worry about me, I'm just fine."

"You wanna talk about it?"

"Maybe later."

"Alright, don't be gone too long, kay?"

"Ok, and thanks for standing up for me."

"About that, Daisy says she sorry, she never meant none of it."

"We'll just see about that, I'm gone."

"Kay, you take care of yourself." Luke drove home and reported to Jesse.

"I reckon he needs some time." Jesse sighed.

"This is how he's always felt about himself and now Daisy's re-enforced it! He's real hurt Uncle Jesse, I can hear it in his voice." Luke was still a little mad at Daisy.

"He'll be alright, Luke." Jesse patted Luke's shoulder.

At Mud Flats, Bo was leaning against a tree, wiping his nose and rubbing his eyes: he was allergic. Great! There's some kind of dang pollen out here. Bo stood up and laid on the car hood instead.

I ain't no good to no one and I've been troubling them with my problems for too long. I don't blame her one bit, she had every right to get mad at me. Maybe I ought to just die and end their suffering. Kill two birds with one stone.

Bo pondered this for a while, but then he remembered what Luke had told him the last time he felt like this: Duke's don't quit and killing yourself is quitting on life.

Instead, Bo just laid on the car hood and thought for an hour or so, until he hadn't even noticed it, but it was getting a little hard to breathe. His eyes were watering and his nose was running. He then felt the signature catch in his throat, which lead to the tightening of his chest, the shaking of his hands, and the over all struggle to breathe.

He fished through his pockets, finding no inhaler so, he dug through the General Lee: no inhaler. Bo knew that if he passed out at the wheel it would be bad so, he couldn't drive back to the farm. The CB! No luck, no one had their dang ears on. Bo leaned against the car and sat down. Remembering how Luke'd taught him, he breathed as deeply and calmly as possible. Which soon became impossible and he passed out.

At the farm, Daisy was making amends with Luke.

"I'm sorry that I said what I said, but believe it or not, I got that way because I felt bad for him. I just got angry with asthma for being so mean to him all these years and, I lost control of myself." Daisy sighed. "Now I've hurt his feelings over my stupid anger."

"I reckon I can forgive you." Luke hugged her.

"Thank you, Luke." She hugged him back.

"He's been gone for too long, now. I think it's time I went and fetched him 'for he hurts himself." Luke took off in Jesse's truck. Mud Flats was right off of Old Mill Road, where the Duke farm is so, it didn't take long for Luke to find Bo, laying face down next to the General Lee.

"How does this happen to you?" Luke ran up to his cousin and rolled him on his back.

"Bo?" Luke shook him. Realizing that Bo wasn't going to wake up anytime soon, and hearing the sounds that Bo was making when his body struggled to pull in little bits of air, Luke decided to drive Bo to Doc Appleby's. He loaded him into the General Lee, since it was faster, CB'd Jesse and Daisy, and took off for Doc Appleby's house.

Half way there, Bo stirred and panicked, trying his best to get one good breath.

"Have this." Luke put the inhaler in his mouth and gave it to him few times.

"Luke?" Bo rapsed.

"We're gonna go see the doc, you're gonna be fine." Luke leaned Bo against himself so he wouldn't hit his head on anything, and drove the General Lee like he had stolen it.

"Where are we?" Bo mumbled into Luke's side.

"In the General." Luke held him closer.

"I can't breathe." Bo panted.

"We're almost to the doc's house, jus' hang in there." Luke calmed him.

Jesse had contacted the doc and told him that Luke would be driving up with Bo pretty soon so, he was ready.

"Over here." Doc motioned to where Luke should set Bo down. Doc put an oxygen mask on him and stuck him with a needle to start an IV. Luke held Bo down for the needle part, he still fought, though he was only half conscious.

"Start prayin'." Doc suggested, but Luke already was praying.

When Jesse and Daisy arrived, Daisy was horrified to see what she'd helped to do. It was her fault that Bo was in this condition. Or at least, she felt that it was.

I never should have said any of that! He can't help any of his problems! I wish I had controlled my anger better so that I wouldn't have spouted off like that and hurt his feelings! I always knew that one day he'd be alone with no inhaler, but I didn't think it was gonna be my fault!

Jesse held Daisy close, he knew that she was actively blaming herself.

"He's gonna be alright, Daisy." Jesse wasn't so sure himself, but he had to calm Daisy.

Bo woke up and started frantically searching for some one to touch him and tell him he was alright.

"Luke?" He tried to say.

"Stop moving. I'm right here." Luke grabbed Bo by the shoulders. Bo did as Luke instructed and tried to breathe.

"He gonna be alright?" Luke looked at doc.

"He's out of the woods now." Doc smiled.

After Bo could breathe again, doc removed his devices from him and Luke helped him into the General Lee. Daisy leaned in the window and kissed his face.

"I'm so sorry, honey. I was only angry at your asthma, not sweet little 'ol you. I'm just sick of something that ain't fair ruining your life. I took my anger out on the very person I was worried about. I lost my temper, and I'm real sorry." Daisy wiped her eyes.

"It's alright, Daisy." Bo hugged her briefly and all of the Dukes headed home. Luke sent Bo to rest in bed: he wasn't breathing properly by the time they got home.

Daisy went to talk to him, just to make sure that everything was ok between them.

"You know I wasn't upset with you, right?" She asked, kneeling at his bedside.

"Of course I know that, now." Bo smiled.

"I'm sorry I made you feel bad. I was only concerned about you and I let my anger get the better of me." Daisy sighed.

"I've let my anger get the better of me more times than I can count." Bo smiled.

"You know I love you, right?" Daisy stroked his hair.

"Of course, and I love you, too." Bo kissed her cheek and she kissed his forehead before shushing him off to a much needed sleep.
