Obviously this would never happen (its medically impossible as far as I know), but I intended to sleep tonight, and I got this idea and my brain decided not to let me sleep until it was published so, here we are. I was looking over it the next day and found some typos and things I wanted to change, so I did that too. This is set after My Son Bo Hogg occurs, but also after Goodbye General lee does (you'll understand why later). Luke is 25, Daisy 24, and Bo 23. Idon'tOWNTHEMDUKEBOYS.

Bo and Luke were in town to get some things. They'd just gotten out of the General and were headed into the store, when Hobie Harkins came gunning for them, drunker than New Year's eve. Not being facing that direction, the boys noticed at the last minute. Luke took Bo by the arm and pulled him in the other direction, but Hobie steered that way too. There were about two seconds that decided what happened: Bo shoved Luke off to the side, and before Luke could even blink Bo was laying on the hood of Hobie's car.

"Bo!" Luke ran back over to the car and put two fingers on Bo's neck.

Hobie opened the car door and staggered out. "Did I hit something?" he slurred.

"You're dang right you hit something! You hit my cousin!" Luke shouted in his face.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you Luke boys were here." Hobie slurred. "I'll have to be going now..." He staggered back to his car.

"Hey! Don't you move this car!" Luke shouted.

"Well why not?" Hobie wasn't aware of much of anything.

"Cause Bo's layin' on it, you dipstick! I can't move him until an ambulance gets here!" Luke ran over to Hobie, pulled him out of the car and took the keys.

A small crowd had developed. "Hey, could you go call the ambulance?" Luke asked someone.

They nodded and ran off to a payphone.

"Bo?" Luke put his hands on Bo's shoulders. "Bo, please, cousin..." the adrenaline rush faded away and the tears started falling.

"Alright you Duke boys..." Rosco saw the General Lee and a commotion as he came out of the sheriffs office.

"Rosco!" Luke called.

"What do you Duke boys w-" Rosco stopped when he saw Bo laying on the car bleeding.

"Hobie hit him." Luke said in the strongest voice he could compose.

"Well is he alr-"

"I don't know! The ambulance is coming, you just get Hobie!" Luke ordered.

Rosco took Hobie and cuffed him and stuffed him, then he came back to wait with Luke.

"Don't you dare die, Bo..." Luke whispered.

Suddenly Bo coughed and tired to move, realizing quickly that it wasn't gonna be possible. "h-help..." he moaned breathlessly.

"Bo?" Luke looked at his face and waited for his eyes to open, but they didn't.

Bo coughed harshly once more before falling unconscious again.

"Shoot!" Luke kicked the ground. Then he quickly checked Bo's pulse again, relaxing only the slightest bit when he found that there was one.

Holding himself together was near impossible now, and he put his face in his hands to cry softly. "Bo, cousin..."

...

Luke rode with the ambulance, and Rosco booked Hobie and called the other Dukes, who called Cooter before taking off to meet the ambulance at Tri-county emergency.

After quite the long wait, the Dukes and Cooter were allowed to see Bo.

"I do have to warn you that he's a bit disoriented and he has some amnesia. He thinks his name is Hogg or something. He's got some pretty severe injuries, most of them to his head, and the rest being 3 broken ribs and a punctured lung. His left leg has several abrasions, but it's not broken." The doctor explained.

They all looked at each other before Jesse spoke up.

"Alright thank ya." Jesse smiled as the doctor left.

"Cooter, you'd best go on in. He, uh, ain't gonna wanna see any of us Dukes." Jesse sighed, blinking hard a few times. The anger he'd had towards Boss Hogg from the month before when he brainwashed Bo was re-kindled, along side with the anger he now had towards Hobie.

"It'll be alright, y'all." Cooter offered as he went into the room.

"W-who are you? Can ya h-help me?" Bo pleaded, starting to cry. He had no idea how he'd gotten where he'd gotten, the room was slowing down from its rapid spinning, and some weird things were connected to him. To top it all off, breathing was near impossible, even with the itchy tube in his nose.

"Yeah, I can help ya. My name's Cooter Davenport. You've been hit by a car so, you're in the hospital. Do ya remember anything?"

"Not too much..." Bo realized how hard it was to speak and decided to cut down on his words a little.

Cooter shut his eyes and sighed. "Okay, well, you might not remember me 'cause ya hurt your head, but I'm your friend Cooter. I run the Hazzard garage."

"Where's my father?" Bo wheezed.

Cooter didn't know what to do: if he tried to explain everything to Bo, he might get mad and refuse to speak to him, but if he didn't it was making the mess worse. Cooter finally made up his mind:

"About a month ago you ran off the road and hit your head. Ya got amnesia and you didn't know who ya were so, J.D Hogg took advantage of you, telling you that you were his son so's you'd drive a van full of moonshine for him. Of course he told you that it was fertilizer. But anyhow all that to say, that your real name is Bo Duke, an' ya got a family out there that loves you. Very much. If ya'd please trust me?"

"J.D Hogg...ain't...my daddy?" Bo asked.

Cooter could tell how hard it was for Bo to breathe. "No he ain't. In fact, he's our county commissioner, and he's real corrupt. He and his sheriff Rosco cause y'all a lot of trouble." he explained.

Bo sat in silence taking it all in for a few seconds. "I'm...Bo Duke?" he panted.

"Yes sir, ya are." Cooter smiled. "What happened that day was, your cousin Luke ran you off the road cause you was transporting moonshine. If you got caught, you'd be taken to jail for both runnin moonshine and violation of your probation. You recovered from the amnesia soon after, but now here we are a month later, and a drunk driver hits you, and ya get it all over again."

"How bad...am I hurt?" Bo wheezed.

"Your heads hurt pretty dang good. I ain't sure what all the rest of your injuries are, but you're gonna be fine." Cooter assured him. "Now how about we let your cousins and uncle on in here? They're real worried about ya."

"Okay."

"Alright, now you take it easy. Don't get all worked up, its the worst thing fer ya." Cooter softly patted his arm.

Cooter walked out the where the others were waiting, hands in his pockets and his head down.

"He's having a lot of trouble breathin', but I do have some good news: I explained everythin' to him an' he believes me." Cooter looked up at them and allowed himself a small smile.

All of the Dukes smiled. "Alright!" Daisy jumped up and hugged Jesse happily.

"Thanks, Cooter." Luke shook his hand.

"It ain't no trouble. He says its okay if ya'll come see him but," Cooter sighed, "It ain't a pretty sight."

"Its real bad?" Daisy asked.

"He looks like he's been hit by a Mack truck." Cooter sighed.

"Hobie's drivin' is close enough." Luke added.

"Anyhow, he's real shook up an' confused, understandably. I reckon its gonna take a bit fer him to calm down."

"Thanks again, Cooter." Jesse patted Cooter's shoulder as they all entered the room.

"Hi there, Bo. I'm your uncle Jesse, this is your cousin Daisy, an' this is your cousin Luke." Jesse gestured.

"Howdy." Bo made his voice sound as strong and composed as possible, but it wasn't very convincing: his breathing was labored and wheezy, and the pain was obvious in his eyes.

"I know ya don't know us, but we are yer family. An' we'll be patient with ya until ya remember everything." Jesse smiled.

"Thank ya." Bo managed a small smile.

A nurse came into the room. "Time for me to change your IV bag." She explained as she did so.

Once she was done, she stepped over to the Dukes and Cooter and whispered: "He'll sleep for a while now." Then she left.

Bo fought to keep his eyes open, fearing that he was passing out. "what's...wrong with me?" he pleaded as his eyes refused to stay open.

"It's okay, the nurse just give you some medicine to make ya sleep fer a spell." Jesse explained.

And with that, Bo stopped fighting and dropped right out to sleep. There was nothing he wanted more... well actually there was: he wanted to remember who he was.

"One of us should stay here incase he remembers when he wakes up." Jesse suggested.

"I'll stay." Luke sat down in the chair that was by the window.

"I thought ya might." Jesse smiled. "Daisy an' I'll go get some lunch an' bring you some too."

"I don't wanna leave him, Uncle Jesse." Daisy'd taken a place beside her baby cousin and was holding his hand.

"We've gotta get somethin' to eat darlin'." Jesse told her, placing an arm around her shoulders.

"But, I don't wanna leave him..." Daisy's eyes filled with tears, but she blinked hard to keep them from falling.

"Well, I guess you two could stay here an' I'll get some food from the hospital cafeteria." Jesse decided. He didn't wanna leave anymore than they did, but being the elder, he had to be strong for his kids. They all desperately needed to eat.

"Alright, well I've gotta get back to the garage. I'll be back later on, ya'll." Cooter took a final look at Bo as he turned to leave.

"Alright, an' thanks fer everything, Cooter." Luke slowly approached him and gave him a quick one-armed hug.

"He'll be okay, man... he's gonna be fine." Cooter whispered. He could tell that Luke was terribly worried: he was too, but Bo wasn't his cousin, so he couldn't even imagine how Luke felt.

"Yeah..." Luke sighed, knowing that if he said much more the tears would fall.

Once Jesse and Cooter were gone, Luke sat in the corner with his face in his hands. Daisy was sitting by the bed holding Bo's hand, when she noticed that Luke was crying.

"You okay, honey?" She slowly walked over to Luke and took a seat next to him.

"I'm fine, Daisy... but, look at Bo..." Luke kept his face in his hands. Luke never was one to show his emotions off, but now he couldn't help it.

"Yeah, he's a mess ain't he?" Daisy's voice cracked and she felt a tear roll down her face. She quickly brushed it away, seeing that Luke needed comfort more than she did at this moment.

"What if he don't never remember?" Luke mewled.

"Oh, honey he will, he has to." Daisy took Luke's hand.

"hey..." Bo wheezed, reaching his arm out into the unknown.

Luke and Daisy jumped to their feet, but neither of them knew what to do: Bo'd probably be uncomfortable with them, seeing as how he'd 'just met them'.

"Bo?" Luke asked softly as they approached the bed.

Bo attempted to turn on his side as a coughing fit attacked him, but that only made the pain from his broken ribs worse. He froze in the uncomfortable position that he was in as cough after cough tortured him.

"You're gonna be okay..." Luke put a cautious hand on Bo's shoulder. It hurt him so badly to see Bo in that much pain, with nothing he could do to help him.

Daisy wrapped an arm around Luke's back and sighed hard to keep from crying. "I thought they sedated him." She whispered.

"h-help..." Bo wheezed as he dropped back panting at the recovery of the coughing fit.

"Jus' relax an' you'll fall right to sleep, I promise." Luke gently adjusted Bo so that he wasn't putting any pressure on his injured ribs.

Luke watched as Bo's muscles relaxed and his lungs calmed: before long he was asleep again. He was pleasantly surprised by the fact that Bo still trusted him, even when he didn't know who he was.

"Why'd he wake up like that?" Daisy asked.

"I don't know, but at least he's asleep now." Luke pulled his chair up to the side of the bed so he could be closer to Bo.

Daisy pulled up a chair next to Luke and leaned on her older cousin's shoulder, where she fell asleep.

Soon after, Jesse came up with lunch.

"How's Bo?" He whispered to Luke, seeing that Daisy was asleep.

"He woke up for a minute coughing like he-eck." Luke caught himself before he said 'hell' in front of his uncle.

"Watch yer mouth, boy." Jesse chided gently as he set the food down.

Just then, Daisy woke up. "Hey, uncle Jesse." She sighed as she rubbed her eyes.

"Howdy, Daisy." Jesse smiled at her as he handed her and Luke their food.

...

Within a few hours, it was time for the animals to be taken care of for the night so, Luke and Daisy rushed back to the farm to do so. Jesse stayed with Bo, seeing as how Luke and Daisy were young and would be faster at doing the chores.

After a while, Bo started shifting around in the bed. "luke..." he rasped.

"Luke ain't here, but I am. It's me, your uncle Jesse." he explained, incase Bo still didn't remember.

"is luke...hurt...?" Bo panted weakly.

"No, he's jus' fine." Jesse soothed. But why was Bo asking if Luke was okay?

"he...get hit?"

Wait... had Bo remembered the accident with Hobie? "No, he didn't get hit, he's safe."

"Okay... then I gotta...tell ya somethin'..." Bo started, stopping to catch his breath.

"Okay, I'm listening." Jesse said, hopefully.

"...I-I think I...might be...kinda hurt..." Bo panted.

"Yeah, kiddo, you're real hurt. But we got ya to the hospital an' you're gonna be jus' fine." Jesse assured him as he took his hand.

"then...hows come you're...cryin'?" Bo asked. Was something terribly wrong with him that he didn't know about?

"Cause I'm worried about ya, Bo baby." Jesse held his hand the slightest bit tighter as he allowed more tears to roll down his face.

"m'fine..." Bo wheezed. Jesse hadn't meant for Bo to have to put up a front, that was the last thing he wanted for him.

"You don't have ta be fine, kiddo. Ya ain't." Jesse soothed as he softly ran his fingers through Bo's forelock.

"hard...to brea-" Bo was cut off by a harsh cough, and hearing it Jesse feared it'd turn into a fit, but thankfully it didn't.

"I know, I'm sorry." Jesse soothed.

"where's...Luke an' Daisy?" Bo wheezed.

"They's feedin' the animals at the farm, but they'll be back right quick." Jesse assured him. "Now, you'd best stop talkin': its makin' it harder fer ya to breathe."

Bo nodded gently, then he decided to open his eyes.

Jesse smiled as he saw Bo's baby blue eyes slowly open: his youngest nephew really was in there, and he was gonna be okay.

more on this next update. catch ya'll then :D

btw the reason this is after Goodbye General Lee is so that Hobie can be sent to jail for what he does without ruining the continuity of him being there in the episode Goodbye General Lee.
