Picking up exactly the very same second after the last chapter. so the year is the same, making the ages the same. (duh, but OCD makes me say it) anyway I still don't own them duke boys.
Jesse'd been standing in the doorframe watching Luke baby Bo for several minutes now. It made him feel proud that he'd raised such a fine young man as Luke, who probably hadn't left Bo out of his sight the entire time.
"...you look real pale, cousin. I think ya need some water, but I'll let ya sleep a spell more." Luke spoke softly to Bo as he gently dabbed at his face with a damp towel.
"Luke..." Bo started waking up. He reached his hand out until he found Luke's wrist and gripped it. "Cousin..."
"I'm here, Bo, I'm here." Luke put a gentle hand on the side of Bo's neck.
"cold..." Bo mumbled, before giving into a coughing fit, one that quickly led to vomiting. Each heave hurt more than the one before it, and Bo's moans got louder along with them.
"You're okay, you're okay..." Luke held him slightly over the side of the bed.
"Help..." Bo wretched.
"Hey, it's alright. You're okay..." Luke laid him back against the headboard as the heaves died down. "Deep breaths, cousin."
"I-I, I just..." Bo panted, desperately trying to communicate.
"Shhhh. You're gonna be fine." Luke gently pried Bo's hands from their death-grips on his arms, giving Bo one of his hands to hold instead.
Within a few minutes, Bo was breathing properly.
"I'm gonna clean this up real quick, then I'll get ya some water." Luke went to get some towels to clean up, so Jesse walked in the door like he'd just gotten there.
"I'm back, Luke. How's Bo?" Jesse asked.
"It ain't just his asthma, Uncle Jesse, he has a fever an he just threw up." Luke told him.
"I'd best call the doc." Jesse went to go for the phone.
"Could we hold off on that? He really don't wanna see the doc." Luke grabbed an armful of towels from the bathroom.
"If you don't think he's sick enough to call the doc, I'll trust your judgement. But I do wanna take a look at him myself." Jesse followed Luke back into the bedroom.
"Sorry about that, Luke." Bo looked at his mess with disgust.
"Its alright." Luke grimaced as he started cleaning.
"Hey, Uncle Jesse." Bo noticed that Jesse was standing there.
"How ya feelin', boy?" Jesse approached the bed.
"I've been better." Bo sighed.
"Let's see." Jesse felt his forehead. "Luke's right, you've a got a fever."
"It was 104, but we got it down to 101." Luke added.
"104? Bo, we need to call the doctor." Jesse decided.
"But, Uncle Jesse I feel alright now." Bo protested.
"You just threw up, cuz." Luke reminded him.
"We can wait until tomorrow morning, an if ya ain't no better by then, I'm callin' the doc." Jesse avowed.
Just then the phone rang. "I'll get it." Jesse went into the living room.
"Duke farm, Jesse here."
"Jesse? Its me, doc Appleby. Daisy passed out at work today so Boss Hogg called me over. It seems she ate something that doesn't agree with her. She's okay, but I'm gonna drive her home."
"She's okay?"
"Yeah, she's fine Jesse."
"Alright, well Bo's sick too. Ya reckon they both caught something?"
"Daisy definitely has food poisoning. Did they both eat something that neither you nor Luke ate?"
"I'd have to ask Bo. Can't you ask Daisy?"
"I've already asked her. She says she can't think of anything."
"Alright, well you just bring my girl home safe. Thanks doc."
"Alright, I'll be there soon. Bye."
"Who was it?" Luke called.
"It was doc. Daisy fainted at the Boar's Nest, seems she's got food poisoning." Jesse came back into the boys' bedroom.
"Daisy what?" Bo and Luke asked in chorus.
"She's okay, docs drivin' her here now." Jesse assured them.
"If Daisy's got food poisoning thats more than likely what you've got Bo. Did you guys eat something?" Luke asked.
"Yeah we sure as heck did."
"What?"
"We was real hungry an' there weren't no food in the house accept for that chicken that the widow Partridge brought." Bo grimaced.
"Well that'll do it." Luke chuckled.
"Hey, Luke?" Bo spoke up after a brief silence.
"Yeah?"
"I'm dizzy..." Bo put his face in his hands.
Since Jesse was closest, (as Luke was still cleaning the floor) Jesse took Bo by the shoulders and laid him down again.
Bo moaned as he curled his legs up and drew his knees close to his chest.
"It hurts, huh?" Jesse pushed Bo's hair out of his eyes.
"Uncle Jesse I want it to stop..." Bo's voice was weak and pained.
"Doc'll be here soon. I'd give ya some shine, but your stomach might not take to it so good." Jesse sat on the edge of the bed and pulled Bo's curled body close to his side. "You're gonna be alright, son." Jesse began stroking his hair.
Luke got rid of the dirty towels and came back. "You okay?" Luke peered down at Bo's face.
"N-no..." Bo wrapped his arms around Jesse's sides and pulled himself closer to his uncle.
"Can't we jus' give him-"
"It'll make him sicker." Jesse interrupted.
Then they heard a car pull up, it had to be doc with Daisy. Luke ran to the door and opened it.
"Daisy, you okay?" Luke took her hand and helped her inside.
"Kinda dizzy, but I'm alright." Daisy was obviously not alright.
"Get her right in bed." Doc directed.
Luke walked Daisy to her room, and then left her in privacy to undress.
"Hows Bo?" Luke rushed back into the boys' room.
"He'll sleep for a while now." Doc smiled as he put the syringe away.
"Good idea." Luke smiled as he approached the bed.
Jesse stepped into the living room to talk to doc about Daisy an' Bo's conditions.
Luke stood over Bo and shut his eyes, placing a gentle hand on his chest.
Please heal my cousin. Take his pain away, an' don't make this any harder for him than it has to be, with his asthma and all. I'd be mighty obliged if ya could do that fer him. Amen.
"You sleep, an don't wake up fer a spell." Luke gently patted Bo's shoulder as he left the room, passing by doc and Jesse to check on Daisy.
He knocked on her door first, seeing as how she was a her.
"Come in." She rapsed.
"Hey, how ya doin?" Luke knelt next to her bed.
"I'm so tired." She sighed.
"That chicken sure did a number on you two." Luke chuckled.
"Yeah, an' it didn't taste good either." Daisy shut her eyes.
"You wanna sleep?" Luke asked.
"Yeah..." Daisy mumbled.
"Okay." Luke pushed her hair behind her ear. "See ya."
Luke went back out into the family room.
"...so basically, they'll be sick anywhere from 2 days to a week. I can say that its definitely food poisoning, hearing about the chicken. I gave Daisy something for the pain at the Boar's Nest, so she should be okay for 3 hours. I just gave Bo his now, so he'll be fine for nearly 4 hours.
"How longs he gonna sleep?" Jesse asked.
"About 4 hours." Doc chuckled. "I thought it'd make it easier on you two, and on Bo if he was asleep. He doesn't need to have any more asthma attacks today."
"Alright, thanks doc." Jesse shook his hand.
thats all for this chapter. see ya next update! :D
