1984, I DON'T OWN THE DUKES OF HAZZARD.

A few days later, Jesse was all better, Daisy was up and around, but took a lot of naps, and Luke was protesting against Bo forcing him to take naps by the doctor's orders.

That night, sometime after 12, Bo woke up dizzy and shaking. He tried to sit up, but his body protested. He'd hate to wake Luke, but he had to throw up and he couldn't get out of bed on his own.

"Luke?" Bo was surprised by how raspy his voice came out.

"Hmm?" Luke rubbed his eyes.

"Com'ere." Bo rasped.

"What's the matter?" Luke got out of his bed, turned the lights on, and knelt beside Bo's bed.

"I-I don't feel good..." Bo coughed.

"You finally got it, huh?" Luke put a hand on Bo's forehead. "You sure did, you're burnin' up."

"I think I've gotta throw up..." Bo drooped his head.

"Alright, it's okay. Come here." Luke picked him up over his shoulders and hauled him into the bathroom.

"Don't want to..." Bo coughed.

"Just get it over with." Luke rubbed his trembling back.

"Hurts..." Bo leaned back on Luke's chest. Luke put one arm around Bo's stomach, and the other around his shoulders from the front and put his head over the bathtub.

"Come on, you can do it." Luke encouraged.

"God..." Bo whispered.

"I know, it hurts." Luke whispered back.

Finally, Bo couldn't help it anymore and he threw up for a good ten minutes. Once he was finished, Luke leaned Bo up against himself and wiped his mouth.

"Are you alright?" Luke ran his fingers through Bo's sweaty hair.

"No...dizzy-" Bo coughed.

"Alright, let me take your temperature." Luke laid him flat on his back on the floor.

"That's cold..." Bo mumbled.

"Just a sec..." Luke got the thermometer and put it in Bo's mouth. Then he took Bo in his lap and put a towel on his chest and arms.

"I'm gonna call the doc after this, Bo." Luke ran a hand through his unruly hair.

Luke pulled out the thermometer. "Good God, Bo... 104..." Luke turned on the water and cleaned out the tub.

"Don't put me in there, please..." Bo begged.

"You're burning up." Luke removed Bo's clothes and eased him into the cold water.

"Gonna pass out, Luke..." Bo shut his eyes and grasped Luke's hand.

"I'll hang on to you, just relax, I'm right here." Luke got a grip on Bo and held on for the long haul.

Several minutes later, Bo woke up and frantically tried to escape the tub.

"I've got you, Bo." Luke pulled him out and into his strong arms, wrapping him in a towel.

"Where are we?" Bo asked through chattering teeth.

"In the bathroom, you've got a fever." Luke dried Bo off and put his pants back on.

"Lets see if it's any lower, and then I'll call the doc." Luke leaned Bo against the wall and took his temperature again.

"Alright, it's down to 102.9 now. I'm gonna put you in your bed and call the doc. Then I'll be right back to see to you, okay?" Luke picked him up.

"Luke, don't leave me alone..." Bo was getting delirious.

"Just for a minute so I can call the doc." Luke laid him down and covered him thoroughly with blankets.

When Luke returned, Bo was shivering and wheezing, curled on his side.

"You're gonna be alright, Bo, it's okay." Luke put his arm around his shoulders.

"Luke, where are you...help me..." Bo mumbled. Luke got into the bed on Bo's right side and pulled him close to himself, wrapping his arms around his chest.

Bo leaned closer into Luke's warm body.

"I'm right here, It's okay." Luke assured him.

"Hmmm." Bo mumbled before falling asleep.

Soon after, doc arrived and Luke walked him into the boys room.

"Let me have a look at you, Bo." Doc knelt next to his bed and pulled the covers down to his waist.

"Luke still here?" Bo asked doc.

"I'm right here, cuz." Luke sat on the other side of Bo's bed and put a hand on his blanketed leg.

Doc listened to Bo's lungs and frowned up at Luke, shaking his head slightly.

"Bad?" Luke mouthed. Doc nodded confirmation and continued his examination.

"Hurts to breathe..." Bo wheezed as doc listened to his heart.

"I'll get you some medicine in a minute, son." Doc took Bo's temperature and showed it to Luke: 103.4

"Get a cold rag." He whispered. Luke did as he was asked and handed the rag to the doctor, who put it on Bo's face.

"No..." Bo moaned.

"Just a little while." Doc soothed.

"Luke?" Bo asked.

"I'm here." Luke put a hand on the side of Bo's neck.

"Don't let go of him, again. I need him to stay still." Doc whispered.

"Are you in pain, Bo?" Doc asked him gently.

"Yeah." Bo mumbled.

"Where is it?"

"My stomach an' my head..." Bo rolled on his back slightly.

"Lie still, Bo." Luke put his hands on Bo's shoulders.

"Start giving him the 'crap'. And don't ask me how I knew that y'all call it that, but I do. Keep him warm unless it gets above 103.5, then you need to cool him off. Make sure he takes his inhaler every 4 hours, just once each time as a cautionary measure. His lungs sound awful." Doc closed up his bag.

Luke pulled the blankets back up to Bo's face and showed doc to the door.

"Thanks." Luke shook his hand.

"You keep resting, yourself. I don't want you relapsing." Doc ordered as he left.

Luke managed to get about 3 more hours of sleep that night. The rest of the night was spent caring for Bo. Bo threw up so many times that Luke lost count and by morning, Luke was exhausted.

Around lunch time, Bo woke up and called for Luke, who was in the room faster than the General Lee could've gotten there.

"Whats the matter?" Luke asked.

"I'm real sorry, but..."

"Come here." Luke hauled him over his shoulders and into the bathroom for the umpteenth time.

"Go on." Luke held him over the tub for about 12 minutes. Then he was done and he leaned back on Luke.

"I can't breathe..." Bo wheezed.

"Alright, hang tight for one sec..." Luke fished around in his pocket until he found an inhaler.

"Here you go." Luke put it in his mouth.

"Can't do it..." Bo coughed.

"You have to. Come on, I'll help you." Luke lifted Bo's chin up and put the inhaler back in his mouth.

"God..." Bo choked, curling up in Luke's arms.

"You need to sit up." Luke grabbed him under the arms and leaned him against himself, holding him up with one arm and forcing the inhaler in his mouth with the other.

"One breath is all you need to do. I know you can do it." Luke encouraged.

"Kay..." Bo managed.

"Alright on three: One, two, three." Luke released the medicine and Bo managed to inhale most of it.

Luke repeated this process several times.

"You alright, now?" Luke turned Bo's face to look at him.

"Dizzy..." Bo curled up in Luke's arms and shut his eyes.

"You gonna throw up again?" Luke asked him.

"Yeah."

"Alright, hang on." Luke grabbed him under the arms and held him over the bathtub.

"Relax, you're alright." Luke tried to calm him as he was shaking and moaning with every heave.

"Hurts..." Bo choked.

"Get it over with and I'll get you back to bed." Luke comforted.

Finally Bo was finished so, Luke pulled him back and wiped his face.

"Are you alright?"

"It hurts." Bo panted.

"I know it." Luke held him for a few minutes.

"You wanna get back to bed, cuz?" Luke cupped the side of his face to wake him up.

"Please." Bo mumbled.

"Alright." Luke picked him up and cradled him against himself as he walked back to their bedroom.

"I'm cold." Bo mumbled.

"I'm gonna take care of that in just a second here." Luke laid Bo down and covered him with blankets.

"Are you gonna be alright?" Luke put a hand on the back of Bo's neck.

"I think so." Bo mumbled.

"Alright, you let me know if you need anything else, alright?" Luke patted his shoulder and left the room. Jesse met him just outside the door.

"Doc appleby says you still need to be resting, Luke." Jesse reprimanded.

"I'll sleep here on the couch for a while. I can't sleep with him in there like that." Luke stretched out on the couch.

"You promise you'll wake me if he needs me?" Luke asked before closing his eyes.

"Me and Daisy can take care of him for a few hours. You just get some rest." Jesse got an extra blanket from the closet and handed it to Luke.

"If he wants me, you get me." Luke protested.

"Only if he specifically asks for ya. Otherwise, you're gonna sleep!" Jesse ordered.

"Alright." Luke rolled over and fell asleep. He truly was exhausted.

About an hour later, Jesse went to give Bo some 'crap'

"Hey, Bo?" Jesse pulled the covers down and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Uncle Jesse?" Bo whispered.

"Time to wake up and have some medicine." Jesse grabbed him under the arms and helped him sit up.

"I don't want it... I'm alright." Bo mumbled, he hadn't even opened his eyes yet.

"Bo, c'mon, don't make me force you." Jesse pleaded.

"It makes me feel sick to my stomach..." Bo complained.

"That's the sickness Bo, the medicine helps with that." Jesse poured some onto a spoon and held it up to Bo's mouth.

"Water after?" Bo asked.

"Sure." Jesse agreed. Bo regretfully took the disgusting substance into his mouth and down his throat.

"Here's your water." Jesse slipped his hand under Bo's curls and lifted his head up, bringing the glass to his mouth.

"Thanks." Bo mumbled when he was finished. Jesse set the glass down. Bo curled over the edge of the bed and gagged a few times.

"You can't do that now, you need to keep this stuff down." Jesse eased him back into the bed.

"Can't help it." Bo heaved, though he protested against it.

"Lay down." Jesse laid him down and ran to get some wet rags and a pot.

"Uncle Jesse?" Bo wretched, not knowing why his uncle wad deserting him. Jesse found Daisy in the kitchen and told her to see to Bo while he got some things together. Daisy made her way past the living room quietly, so not to wake Luke: Jesse had worked hard to make him get some sleep.

"Daisy, help..." Bo leaned over the side of the bed and coughed harshly.

"It's alright, honey, uncle Jesse's gettin' some things for ya." Daisy eased him back on to the bed and took his shaking hand in her own.

"I don't think me an' Daisy can get you outta the bed and into the bathroom so, you'll have to use a pot, alright?" Jesse said as he came back into the room.

"Jus' hurry..." Bo coughed. Jesse removed Bo's blankets and let him fall into his arms over the side of the bed. After a good 15 minutes, Jesse and Daisy managed to get Bo settled in again and gave him another dose of the medicine.

"You sleep now, sugar." Daisy kissed his sweaty forehead and stroked his hair for a few minutes.

"Let's go now, Daisy. He'll be alright." Jesse grabbed her arm and gently pulled her out of the room.

"Don't you tell Luke about that, alright? He'll be mad that we didn't wake him up." Jesse whispered to Daisy once they were in the kitchen.

About an hour later, Luke woke up and went to check on Bo, who was falling out of his bed and mumbling something that Luke couldn't make out.

"Bo, you alright?" Luke lifted him back into the bed.

"Luke?" Bo struggled against the hands that held him down to the bed. "Get me outta here, Luke." Bo pleaded.

"Outta where?" Luke asked.

"This horrible place..." Bo jerked around in Luke's arms. Luke grabbed him and held his violently shaking body close.

"You ain't in no horrible place, cuz." Luke assured him.

"Don't make me stay here, Luke..." Bo moaned in Luke's arms.

"You're at home, Bo, you're safe." Luke told him.

"No I ain't... I'm in the hospital, an' don't you lie to me..." Bo shuddered.

"You just have a fever, cuz, you're gonna be alright." Luke hugged him tighter.

"They're hurting me, Luke..." Bo mumbled.

"Who's hurtin' you?"

"The doctors..." Bo mumbled.

"Bo, you ain't in the hospital, I swear!"

"Don't leave me here, please..." Bo's voice was getting weaker and he struggled to stay awake.

"Uncle Jesse, Daisy!" Luke called. They both came into the room.

"He's delirious and he thinks he's in the hospital. One of you get me some wet rags and the other please get a thermometer." Luke requested.

"Luke, help me, please help me..." Bo panted.

"Bo, listen to me, cuz. You ain't in the hospital. You're safe right here at home, in my arms." Luke laid him down and pulled off all of the blankets.

"You swear?" Bo's asked through chattering teeth.

"I swear on uncle Jesse's life, Bo." Luke put his hands on Bo's shivering shoulders and waited for the others to come with the things that he needed.

"Then where are we?" Bo asked.

"You're safe in your bed. You're sick, though, you've got a real high fever an' that's why you don't feel good." Luke explained.

"Alright." Bo mumbled and relaxed the rest of the way. Daisy returned with the thermometer and handed it to Luke, who slipped it into Bo's mouth.

"You swore..." Bo complained, thinking it was a hospital instrument being forced into his mouth.

"Bo, I ain't a doctor, it's just a thermometer, I'm taking your temperature." Luke took the rag that Jesse had just returned with and put it on Bo's forehead.

Luke removed the thermometer and showed it to Jesse and Daisy: 104.6

"Start the cold water." Luke whispered in Daisy's ear. Jesse got more wet rags and placed them on Bo's chest, neck, stomach, and wrists.

"I'm gonna call the doc." Jesse whispered to Luke. Daisy returned and nodded to Luke.

"Alright, Bo I'm gonna pick you up, kay?" Luke put one arm under his head and neck, and the other under his knees and pulled him out of the bed. Bo dared to open his eyes and instantly regretted it: the room was spinning and his head was throbbing. He decided to close his eyes again.

Luke knew that Bo would refuse to be dunked in the tub of his own will so, he decided not to tell him and just do it. Luke set him down on the bathroom floor and removed his sweatpants.

"Where are we?" Bo asked through his violently chattering teeth.

"At home." Luke lifted him up again, this time, lowering him into the tub.

Luke held Bo under the arms and Daisy gently kept his head out of the water. Bo didn't even notice that he was in the bathtub. The wet rags had gotten him used to being wet and cold so, he just trusted his older cousins and tried to relax.

Daisy wet her hand and ran her fingers through his hair and down his forehead. Luke felt Bo relax in his arms as Daisy did this.

"Keep that up, he likes it." Luke suggested. Jesse walked into the room and looked over the scene.

"Doc's coming." He told them.

"Good." Luke concentrated on keeping Bo in the tub.

"Go get the thermometer, we'll see if it's any better." Daisy suggested. Jesse retrieved the thermometer and handed it to Daisy.

"Daisy?" Bo felt Daisy's hands on his mouth.

"I'm here, honey." Daisy put one hand on the back of his head, as it was drooping back.

"Daisy, help me..." Bo pleaded.

"You're gonna be okay, honey." Daisy massaged the back of his head gently.

"103.4" Daisy reported to the others.

"Lets keep him in here until doc comes." Luke suggested. Daisy resumed her hair stroking ritual.

After what felt like an eternity, doc finally arrived and Jesse let him in. Doc made his way into the bathroom and Daisy moved aside.

"He's asleep right now." Luke informed the doctor.

"Are you sure he's not unconscious?" Doc asked as he looked at Bo.

"I'm sure." Luke replied.

"What was the reading the last time you took his temperature?" Doc asked.

"103.4" Luke told him.

"What was it before you put him in here?" Doc asked.

"104.6" Jesse replied.

"Lets see what we've got now." Doc stuck a thermometer in Bo's mouth.

"101.7, that's much better." Doc smiled. "Why don't we dry him off and sit him up in bed, alright?" Doc requested.

"Alright." Luke pulled Bo out of the bathtub and set him on a towel on the floor.

"L-Luke, Daisy?" Bo was wheezing loudly now.

"I'm right here, cuz." Luke assured him as he and Daisy dried him off.

"Me, too, sugar." Daisy stood up and held the door open while Luke picked Bo back up again and hauled him back into the boys's room.

"Let's have a look, shall we?" Doc started his examination after the Dukes had settled Bo into a sitting position in his bed. Luke, Daisy and Jesse watched from the doorway.

"How do you feel, Bo?" Doc asked.

"Tired an' kinda dizzy." Bo slurred.

"Do you remember anything that happened in the last hour or so?" Doc asked him.

"I was sleeping, I think." Bo mumbled.

"Alright, let me listen to your lungs, okay? You're wheezing a lot." Doc got his stethoscope.

"What happened to me?" Bo realized that something must have happened to make them call the doctor.

"Your fever spiked and you were delirious." Doc informed him.

"Did I hit anyone?" Bo remembered that the last time he had been like that, Luke had told him that he hit him several times.

"No, you didn't." Luke told him.

"Don't say no because I know they've got to: do your lungs hurt?" Doc asked.

"A lot." Bo decided not to put up a fuss, he was miserable.

"You're gonna need some oxygen." Doc decided after getting a good listen.

"Fine." Bo agreed. Doc went out to his car and fetched the tank. He put the mask over Bo's face and motioned for Luke to come over.

"When was the last time he drank?" He whispered.

"About an hour or so. He just throws it right back up." Luke whispered back.

"I'm gonna to give him an IV. Distract him while I stick him, huh?" Doc whispered. Luke nodded and sat on the right side of Bo's bed and turned his face towards him.

"You wanna lay down now?" Luke asked him.

"I've been wanting to." Bo let Luke lay him down.

"How you feel?" Luke took his hand.

"To be real honest with you, I'm miserable." Bo wheezed.

"Hang in there, alright? This mask'll make breathing a heck of a lot easier." Luke assured him. "Doc's gonna give you an IV, alright?" Luke whispered.

"Alright." Bo agreed.

"Don't look, and it won't be so bad." Luke put his hand on the side of Bo's face. Doc quickly inserted the needle and hung the bag on the headboard. Bo made a face, but that was all. He was too weak to even subconsciously resist.

"Good job, cuz." Luke patted his arm and went to stand by Jesse and Daisy.

These Dukes are really something. Most families would've shipped them off to the hospital so they didn't have to deal with them anymore. Doc thought to himself, amazed by what he had seen the Dukes do for each other over the years. They always took care of each other at home unless they absolutely needed to go to the hospital. Doc loved that about the Dukes: recovering at home with loved ones was the best kind of medicine.

"Take good care of him, not that I doubt that you will." Doc smiled at Luke as he left.

"Thanks." Luke shut the door and doc went on his way.

Jesse ordered Luke to take another nap, and he couldn't refuse Jesse so, he did it. Daisy sat on Luke's bed and looked after Bo while Jesse made dinner.

"Daisy?" Bo reached his arm out.

"What's the matter, honey?" Daisy got off of Luke's bed and stood over Bo.

"My chest..." Bo wheezed.

Daisy removed the oxygen mask and put an inhaler in Bo's mouth.

"Better?" She asked.

"Still can't breathe..." Bo took in a harsh breath and coughed, leaning on to his side a little.

"Have some more." Daisy put it back in his mouth and used it a few more times. "I swear, asthma strikes at the meanest times." Daisy ran her fingers through Bo's hair.

"I'm alright, now." Bo rasped after several minutes.

"Let's put this back on." Daisy put the mask back on Bo's face. "Good news is you don't have to have any more of that disgusting medicine. Doc put it in your IV." Daisy smiled, in an effort to cheer him up.

"Thank God, no more crap." Bo chuckled softly.

"You want me to sit with ya?" Daisy offered.

"I'd appreciate it." Bo smiled.

Daisy laid on top of Bo's blankets on his right side and pulled his head to her chest, running her soothing fingers through his hair.

Even after he had been asleep for fifteen minutes, Daisy kept laying next to Bo. She had nothing better to do and it made her feel safe, too: knowing that he was safe right next to her and that nothing could happen to him. Besides, she needed a little rest herself.

WELL THAT BE THE END OF THIS CHAPTER.

AT FIRST I WAS GONNA MAKE A WHOLE NEW STORY ABOUT DAISY BEING SICK (JUST BC I FELT LIKE IT) BUT I DECIDED TO ADD IT TO A STORY I ALREADY HAD. NO POINT IN PUBLISHING A WHOLE NEW STORY WHEN I COULD JUST ADD IT TO THIS ONE SO, THAT IS WHAT I DID AND THIS BECAME OF IT. ANYHOW.. THE END OF THE CHAPTER.
