Chapter 8
The morning came far too soon in Randy's eyes as a dilapidated school bus came and honked on his street. Randy sat alone in his corner of the bus and whispered to himself, "What could've caused this much damage to the bus?" A question that was answered by a brown-haired student wearing a red shirt with his whiny voice, "It's because the ninja hijacked the bus yesterday!" Randy groaned at Doug's straightforward explanation, "Shut up, Doug! No one asked!"
Still though, Randy had to admit that Doug was right. Visibly cringing at that thought, Randy began to think about what he'll do now that McFist had essentially rallied the entirety of Norrisville against the ninja. Gradually, his thoughts turned towards what the Nomicon had said to him at the start of the week, 'Never do alone, what must be done together.' Being seen as a threat by those he was supposed to protect was so wonk, to the point that it was almost him against the world. Well technically, one part of him against the world.
Randy's musings were interrupted as another one of his troubles sat right beside him, "Hey Randy," Theresa greeted as she inspected the boy's troubled face, "Is there something wrong?" Randy shook his head, "It's nothing, just thinking about the ninja." Theresa's eyes widened as the boy brought up one of the topics that she had been avoiding, but nonetheless inquired on his thoughts, "Oh, right, I forgot that you're the ninja's biggest fan." Randy smiled and smugly said, "Yeah, number one fan right here, though I guess with how the town's been, that isn't saying much." Realizing his forlorn look as he finished what he was saying, Theresa tried to cheer him up, "Well, I'm a pretty big fan of the ninja too. Though I wouldn't mind being second place next to you." Theresa turned her head towards her crush, only to see that his face was reddening with her indirect compliment, "I-I mean, that uh…you know it's because the ninja doesn't really care who's number one, right?"
"Y-Yeah, of course, he doesn't!"
Before they could continue to speak, they both heard a commotion outside of the bus. The ruckus was headed by protestors that were carrying signs that said 'Ninja go home!' and 'McFist is our hero!' Randy's smile shifted into a frown as he witnessed what was happening, but was unable to speak out about it unless he accidentally out himself. Theresa wanting to comfort him asked, "Do you want to talk about it?" Randy answered, "It's just after everything the ninja's done for them, they just turn their backs on him so easily. I mean sure, the ninja's shoobed up a few times, but who hasn't? Right?" Theresa nodded a bit too eagerly, "Yeah, though I don't really think those guys want to listen to reason right now," she said pointing to the crowd outside. Randy sighed dejected, "Yeah…" Theresa knew that she had to help him out of his funk, but she couldn't out herself since Randy never told her his secret in the first place, well, not intentionally anyways.
The two teens peered outside the bus' window as it slowed as it arrived at Norrisville High. Randy knew that with McFist's Robo-Apes in town, it would be pretty bad, turns out it was far worse than he expected. Robo-Apes were stationed atop observation towers, adorned with McPeepers and it appeared as though they were inspecting the student's belongings and giving out passes through a McPass Master-hall pass printer.
"Oh boy," Randy was troubled, if they ruffled through his bag the Nomicon and the Ninja mask were done for. He had to find some other way in, but there weren't any places where he could hide himself and turn into the ninja. He needed a distraction to get off the bus immediately. Seemingly reading his mind, Theresa moved closer to the window and pointed something out, "Hey! Look that Robo-Ape's smoking!" The other students moved to get a view of the incident letting Randy slip out from the opposite side of the bus.
The Robo-Ape's body was twitching and buzzing, until all it could do was let out a small beep, then immediately fell apart. Other Robo-Apes were gathering around its remains and covering it up then placing signs that said, "STAY AWAY. TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES." It was an odd sight for the students on the bus, as more and more Robo-Apes began to malfunction and break down. Theresa turned her attention to her seatmate only to find an open window across her. The girl smiled, she had noticed that Randy was on edge when he saw the Robo-Apes, so she was glad that she managed to help him though briefly.
McFist was stomping angrily through the halls of the school, "Viceroy! Why did another Robo-Ape explode?! I thought you patched up the manufacturing line!" Viceroy pushed aside one of the screens he was using to observe the situation at the school gates, "It's because the Sorceress increased the speed again! My machines weren't designed to handle this much stress. Look at them, it's ruining their wonderful bodies!" McFist rolled his eyes at the Robo-Apes' creator, "Talk about patting yourself on the back." The mad scientist then showed his boss footage of the production line back at their company, showing that Robo-Apes were being built at a rapid pace but more and more defects were being produced.
McFist and Viceroy felt nauseous as the machine produced a Robo-Ape with its limbs being placed in the wrong order, causing it to lose balance and fall into the gears of the production. In disgust, McFist screamed, "Holy cheese! That was schnasty!" Viceroy hummed in agreement, "This is why my mama always said that I should never rush things." The two men continued to monitor the situation at all fronts, though they failed to notice that one Robo-Ape was moving oddly as it entered the school lavatory.
The ninja pulled off the head of the damaged Robo-Ape, "If I had a quarter for every time, I had to go inside a Robo-Ape, I'd have two quarters, which is odd but it's weird that it happened twice, right?" He glanced at a random direction only to realize that no one was there, "And Howard was right, I really should think about the words I'm saying before I say them out loud." The ninja removed the last pieces of the Robo-Ape's body and stuffed them down the bathroom's trash can, which did not conceal the bits and pieces at all, though the ninja ignored it stating, "Eh, good enough." The ninja removed his mask, and moved onto the hallway whistling innocently and blending into the crowd of students that were being directed by the Robo-Apes to their classrooms.
The Sorceress' plan was almost at its fruition, she cackled to herself as she moved closer to the black tarp that covered the centerpiece of the school's lobby, the Carp's Eye. She lovingly caressed the prominent golden stone that was the very core of its namesake, "Soon my love, I will have our vengeance." The Sorceress's whispers were interrupted as both McFist and Viceroy entered the black tarp.
"Sorceress!" McFist shouted, "Your magic is ruining my company's manufacturing! If it keeps going on like this it'll…uh…" McFist turned expectantly towards Viceroy, who sighed and bluntly continued, "It'll decrease our forces here at Norrisville High." McFist, annoyed at his insubordination repeated the sentiment albeit louder, "It'll decrease our forces here at Norrisville High!" Viceroy facepalmed, as his boss smiled finishing 'his' explanation.
The Sorceress nodded in understanding, surprising the two men, "Very well, I will have to use every last bit of my magic here." The Sorceress closed her eyes and began to focus, as purple smoke gathered towards her glowing beaded necklace. Viceroy's McFist Pad began to beep, and as he opened its contents it showed that the production line was back to its standard speeds, "Thank cheese! It's over." The mad scientist giddily smiled, while McFist ignored him and turned his attention back to the Sorceress, "So what are you doing that needs so much of your power?" The Sorceress answered, "I will be studying this beauty," positioning herself above the Eye of Eternities. McFist unamused bluntly asked, "A rock? All this effort for a stupid golden rock!"
To his surprise, his comment was met by a backhanded slap that sent him flying towards Viceroy who also went down along with him. Picking themselves up, they saw that the Sorceress was absolutely fuming, which made Viceroy slowly but surely inch himself away from the source of her anger. "You, worthless buffoon," she said, chuckling a ball of fire near McFist's direction that missed, "This is the Eye of Eternities! The very thing that imprisoned the Sorcerer for eight hundred years! The thing that also holds the very source of the ninja's power, the Tengu." McFist frightened and shaking in fear, "O-Oh, the E-Eye of uh…Eternities, yes very important just confused it with another m-magic ball is all," McFist began to chuckle nervously hoping that it would ease the Sorceress' rage.
The Sorceress recomposed herself and explained, "When the ninja banished me once again to the Land of Shadows, this was the only thing on my mind," the Sorceress clenched her fist in frustration, "It is paramount that I utilize the very best of our resources in order to understand and manipulate its power." Raising her head and pointing her figure to the lankier of the two, "You, Viceroy will assist me in this regard."
McFist smiled smugly as Viceroy began to complain, "Me? But I have no experience in- "The Sorceress disregarded his concerns, "It matters not, you are the second smartest person in this room, and so, you may be able to aid me in my objective." McFist hooted as The Sorceress humbled his assistant, "S-Second smartest?" Viceroy asked in shock and offense. The witch innocently said, "Yes? Is there a problem with my assessment?" The metal arm of McFist hit the floor repeatedly as the mad man rolled on the floor with a fit of laughter, "Make it stop! Make it stop!" Viceroy groaned at the damage to his self-esteem, as he approached the Eye of Eternities together with the Sorceress.
Howard has often told Randy about how some of his nightmares often include the school cafeteria's menu being changed, and back then, Randy had always thought that his best friend's fear was unsubstantiated. Now though, Randy understood, he completely understood. Somehow, McFist managed to replace the cafeteria staff with his own Robo-Ape servers, which wouldn't have been a problem but for some reason they were only giving out a weird green goopy soup with chunks inside of it, which Randy had taken to call, 'Schlomph,' because of the sound it made when it was placed on their lunch trays.
Every student in the cafeteria was miserable, except for the goth teen Julian, who brought his own lunch that day, "Such misery has befallen my classmates, it is saddening to see that I cannot experience it but I was fortunate enough to have my mother make me some bat cookies," chuckling to himself as he took a bite from his bat-shaped meal, only to have it snatched right before his eyes by a Robo-Ape. "H-Hey!" The boy screeched as he reached out to his cookie, only for the Robo-Ape to grab him by the arm and drag him away. "No outside food allowed, food is a potential entry point for the ninja," the Robo-Ape explained, "You will now go to detention."
"Detention! Oh, such sweet horrible sorrow," Julian dramatically swayed back, surrendering to the whims of the Robo-Ape. The students could only look on in pity, not knowing what will happen to their ghoulish schoolmate.
Debbie slammed her fist on their lunch table in protest, "This isn't right, what McFist is doing is essentially turning the school into a police state!" A Robo-Ape turned their way as it heard the commotion she was making, "Get down!" Randy pushed her down the table and whispered, "Yeah, McFist is being a total shoob, nothing new there. But this isn't the time to be yelling about it unless you want to fight an entire army of Robo-Apes!" No longer sensing her, the Robo-Ape continued to serve Schlomph to the rest of the student body. The three lunchmates let out a collective sigh of relief, as they sat up straight in order to avoid angering the Robo-Apes.
"You know who else is being a total shoob?" Debbie asked, holding the attention of her two seatmates, "The ninja! I mean, all of this happened over night and he hasn't lifted a finger. I mean this is technically all his fault, right?" Randy groaned but remained silent as anything he could've said might out him, while Theresa tried to reason with the journalist, "Well maybe, the ninja was just tired after all the fighting he did yesterday." Debbie shot her friend's reasoning down, "All the footage showed that he was literally punching and kicking the air."
"Maybe it was an invisible enemy?" Theresa argued, as Debbie rolled her eyes, "Then why doesn't he just tell us that then?" Theresa became agitated as her friend continued to attack the ninja, "I don't know. How about the fact that McFist decided to pull an army out before he could explain himself?!" The twirler's voice rang throughout the cafeteria, causing the Robo-Apes to move towards the girl, acting in unison, "Disturbance detected."
Randy began to think, and looked around for something that could help his friends get out of their situation. Arrows formed and pointed towards their lunch trays and towards the Robo-Apes. Smiling, Randy took action, throwing his lunch at the nearest Robo-Ape and declaring, "Sclomph fight!" To his surprise, the student that followed suit was none other than the very person that was insulting him, well other him. Debbie threw her lunch tray at another Robo-Ape and yelled out in agreement, "Sclomph fight!" Randy nodded towards Debbie, who nodded in kind. Theresa couldn't help but smile seeing her best friend and crush get along for her sake.
The cafeteria soon became a battlefield as the Robo-Apes mobilized attempting to contain the chaos, while students threw as much of their lunch in retaliation, save for Bash Johnson who was much more content in throwing the smaller students at the Robo-Apes, "I'm going to throw this band geek into a band of gorillas!" He yelled out picking up Bucky from the floor, "Technically, it should be a shrewdness of gorilla-! "Before Bucky could finish his correction, Bash threw him at the Robo-Apes, hitting several in a row, "Yeah Bash! Strike!"
"Where did that shoob run off to now?" Debbie asked angrily, referring to the now missing Randy Cunningham. Theresa shrugged her shoulders and tried to give an excuse, "Maybe he went off to help some of the other students?" Debbie sighed credulously, "He does realize that we need help too!" Before she could continue to chastise Randy, red smoke covered the room accompanied by the familiar yell of the ninja, "Smoke bomb!"
The Robo-Apes stopped fighting the students and collectively announced, "Ninja detected! Destruction imminent." The ninja jumped over a group of Robo-Apes that surrounded him, and brandished his sword, "Ninja beheading slice!" And with a single swing of his sword, he managed to decapitate five Robo-Apes. The ninja then turned to the students that he saved, "Are you all okay?" The students offered a collective thumbs up. The ninja nodded, "Get to someplace safe," though the ninja's instructions were questioned by Debbie, "Where exactly is safe here? The school's practically home to Robo-Apes now!"
The ninja placed his thumb under his chin, as he struggled to rack his brain for an answer, it had to be someplace special for the Robo-Apes to not find them. Wait. Special? The ninja realized that there was one place in school suited for them, "Try going down the very bottom of that staircase! There should be a classroom for the Gifted and Talented." The other students stared at the ninja dumbfounded by what he said. "Right of course you guys wouldn't know where it is." The ninja rolled his eyes and beckoned the other students to follow him.
The ninja guided the students down what seemed to be the longest staircase in the school, as they travelled lower and lower, one of the students complained, "Who designed this place like this? It doesn't make any logical sense!" All the other students responded angrily, "Shut up, Doug!" The ninja opened the door to the abandoned classroom, and beckoned the students to go in.
"This place doesn't seem safe ninja," Bucky pointed out, with several other students voicing their concerns. The ninja crossed his arms and gave them a choice, "It's either dark, dreary, and droopy classroom or complete and total annihilation from Robo-Apes, your pick." Before they could decide, their phones began to ping as footage from the news began to play. It showed that the Robo-Apes were going wild now that they detected the ninja in the school, the students collectively nodded towards each other and made their decision, which Bucky voiced, "Ninja, uh…we're good here now, just go out there and deal with them, okay?"
The students pushed the ninja out of the room and slammed the door on his way out, "Thanks for the vote of confidence guys," the ninja said miserably as he swung his scarf snagging it in the railings, rappelling himself upwards to confront the issue.
Alarms throughout the school were blaring, as the screens that filled the halls displayed the message of 'Ninja alert!' repeatedly. McFist panickily ran towards his two accomplices, "Hey the ninja's been seen! Why aren't our forces mobilizing?!" Viceroy pushed aside several screens to answer McFist, "Because, we need the ninja as close as possible for this to work."
"For what to work?" McFist asked, confused by the lack of context. Viceroy sighed but before he could explain, the head of a Robo-Ape rolled across the floor. The two looked up and saw a figure tapping their foot impatiently from the hall, "You know, these Robo-Apes were pretty tough to go through, but if you thought that they could beat me, then you got a- 'head' of yourselves, get it?" McFist and Viceroy looked at each other in disgust towards the ninja's joke.
Before the ninja could pat himself on the back, he moved sideways to avoid a blast of green energy. "So, you really are here," the ninja mused, "I should've figured that these two shoobs wouldn't have been able to do this on their own." Out from the shadows, the Sorceress cackled, "Indeed, these two buffoons would've needed eight hundred more years to figure out how to defeat you," the two men in question spoke with a unified complaint, "Hey!" The Sorceress then pointed towards the black tarp, "Go and get to work! We need to finish our preparations if we are to defeat the ninja!" The two headed towards the tarp covering the Eye of Eternities.
The ninja laughed at the prospect of their plans, and composed himself, "Defeat me? Please, you just made a mistake in revealing yourself so early, I'm taking you down this time, Sorceress!" The black clad hero swayed his arms to the side, then shifted his stance for a scooping motion, and then pushed outward, "Ninja Air Fist!" The winds shifted and formed a shape of a fist aimed towards the Sorceress who merely deflected the attack with her finger. Before the Sorceress could gloat, the ninja immediately dashed towards her following up on his failed attack, "Ninja chop!" He swung his sword downwards targeting the beads on her neck.
The Sorceress clicked her tongue in annoyance, "McFist, Viceroy, are either of you two going to help me?" McFist apprehensively answered, "Well it seems like more of a one-on-one fight really, right Viceroy?" He nudged the scientist who only hummed in agreement, "And FYI, I'm still trying to get us ready for phase 4, so just hold him back for a bit." The Sorceress grunted, but nonetheless complied, pushing the ninja away from the two, and took the brunt of his relentless attacks.
"A phase 4?" The ninja asked, the Sorceress merely laughed at his confusion, "It does not matter, keep your eyes on me boy!" She said as pieces of debris scattered on the battlefield began to float and were propelled towards the ninja. "Ninja dodge, ninja dodge, and ninja dodge!" The ninja flipped and rolled avoiding the Sorceress' projectiles. Shuffling through his pockets, the ninja selected another weapon, "Ninja Chain sickle!" He swung the pointed end of the weapon and hooked it onto one of the moving pieces of debris, then hurled it right back at the Sorceress' head. Dazed by her own attack, the Sorceress struggled to keep herself upright.
"You know you guys have been trying really hard to keep me away from here, so let's see what the big surprise is," the ninja hooked his chain sickle on the black tarp and pulled to reveal that Viceroy and McFist were using one of the Sorceress' power balls and bridging it to the Eye of Eternities using a tube-like contraption that had legs which were stabilizing the two's connection. "You guys are messing with the Carp's Eye? Not on my watch!" The ninja retrieved a ball from his pockets, "Ninja boom ball!" The bomb made contact with the ninja's target, as the smoke dissolved, they remained unscathed.
"What?!" The ninja was shocked, as Viceroy giggled, "Indestructible force field, ninja. Powered by the Sorceress' power ball, and with its connection to the Eye, it can deflect every known attack from you. Pretty remarkable stuff for a guy that learned about magic a few hours ago," McFist groaned at Viceroy's showboating, "If you could've learned magic all this time, then why didn't you?!" Viceroy crossed his arms in disagreement, "Because you never asked." This answer only made McFist angrier as he started to fume, but before he could voice his opinions, Viceroy's machine beeped, and displayed the message, "Connection complete."
The mad scientist smirked and signaled the Sorceress, "Phase 4 is ready!" The Sorceress laughed and levitated in the air, "The time is neigh! Ninja, it is time to meet your end. McFist, is everything ready?" The metallic arm of McFist raised its thumb in the air, affirming that the preparations were complete. The ninja was dumbfounded, their plan involved the Tengu's seal, "You do realize that thing," he pointed towards the stone, "Contains an ancient bird demon that will attempt to destroy everything!" The witch floated atop the stone, "I am not foolish enough to release the Tengu, I do not wish for more competition, in fact, I intend to cut one off," the Sorceress began to murmur in an ancient tongue, preparing her spell.
A red glow began to spring from the ninja's pockets, "I know Nomicon, this is bad, but I'll give it everything I've got!" The ninja threw a barrage of attacks at the shielded trio, "Ninja slice!"
"Ninja kick!"
"Ninja punch!"
"Ninja, every last bomb throw!"
Each attempt was met with the same fate, the ninja couldn't think of any way through the force field. It was adapting to every move he's ever made, he needed something new, something unexpected. The pieces clicked together, it was now or nothing. The ninja had hoped to get the Nomicon's input on his new move, because the last time he tried it with Howard, he nearly blew himself up. With no other options in his head, the ninja went as close as he could to the force field, shocking him when he made contact with it, causing the ninja to recoil his hand in pain. McFist laughed at what seemed to be a feeble attempt from the ninja, and threw a raspberry his way. The ninja knew that the one-armed billionaire was insulting him but he couldn't get distracted by him. He needed to concentrate, so he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
The ninja put his hands towards the force field's edge once again, feeling a tingle as he came into contact with it. Pain surged throughout his body, but he needed to end this. Digging deep, the ninja felt a warmth fill his chest. The heat spread as his suit began to ignite. His eyes opened to reveal that his sclera turned black and his pupils burned with a bright red. The floor began to melt at the ninja's feet. He was close, the ninja felt that his entire being was being set on fire but it didn't matter he had to stop the Sorceress.
McFist and Viceroy visibly sweat as the very room they were in started to swelter. "Uh…Viceroy, are you sure this force field can hold up?" McFist nervously asked as he pulled on his necktie to cool off, "It should be able to withstand this, but I'm not sure if we can," the scientist clarified as he removed his coat. "Why didn't you install air conditioning in this thing?!" Viceroy huffed at his boss' question, "I did! The ninja's short circuiting them!" The Sorceress who was also finishing up her spell, yelled out, "Silence! I am nearly done here, that ninja won't be able to handle what comes next!"
"We'll see about that!" The Sorceress turned her attention towards the ninja whose flames danced beneath his feet as he readied his attack, "Ninja!" the flames grew, "Tengu!" his fingers were slowly causing the shield to spark, much to the shock of Viceroy and McFist. "Supernova!" A white explosion was released from the ninja's entire body engulfing those that surrounded him.
The ninja blinked his eyes open, and what he saw astonished him. The entire lobby of the school was completely wasted. The flooring was shattered into pieces, lockers were warped and bent, the stairs barely looked like stairs anymore. Some part of the ninja was glad he didn't use this move in the Nomicon, probably would've singed a few of its ancient pages. Still, that move took everything he had, as he struggled to push himself up. There was no way that Viceroy's tech could've survived that.
Before the ninja could relax however, he heard a cracking sound. "Oh no," the ninja despaired as rubble and dust began to levitate revealing that the Sorceress had managed to shield themselves, but nonetheless looking worse for wear. The ninja looked on closely, and saw that the Eye of Eternity and the Sorceress' power ball were still connected, but he could see that the force field was down. He had to make a choice, one last effort, the ninja picked up his sword and threw it, "Ninja sword throw!"
The sword closed in, but the Sorceress grabbed ahold of it midair. "No!" The ninja cried, the Sorceress groaned painfully, but she managed to throw the sword away from them, "You've taken everything from me ninja! This time we will take everything from you." The Sorceress' power ball sent a burst of energy towards the stone, sending a shock of energy through the ninja's body. The ninja's body writhed in pain, McFist began to laugh, "Eat that ninja!" Then turned towards Viceroy, "What exactly are we making him eat Viceroy?" Viceroy sighed and shrugged, "I have no clue, all I did was make a connection to the Sorceress and the stone, she did the rest."
The Sorceress was ecstatic, she had done it and she wanted to relish the moment, "The ninja and the Tengu are forever linked, their strengths," she paused for a brief moment as McFist and Viceroy listened closely, "And their weaknesses are shared. I could never destroy the stone, the Tengu itself is far too unpredictable for me to handle in my current state. But, encaged, the Tengu is much more vulnerable." McFist raised his arm and asked a question, "If we didn't destroy the Tengu then what did we do?" The Sorceress rolled her eyes, but before she could finish, Viceroy cut in, "You disrupted the connection between the ninja and the Tengu with your power ball, didn't you? But how did you know that would work?"
The Sorceress smiled, "After the second time that the ninja banished me, the only thing on my mind was the beauty of the Eye of Eternities, and yet somehow it seemed familiar to me. It took me a while to realize, but I figured out that the Norisu clan had perfected me and my beloved's sealing techniques," The ninja gasped in shock at the Sorceress' revelation, "In order to equal our power, they emulated our ways, and might I say they perfected it," she said with a hint of indignity. "As it stands, I needed your contraption to stabilize the connection, but I cannot hold this interruption for too long as the Eye is still fighting off my corruption." The Sorceress' body kneeled over as energy was being sapped from the power ball connected to the stone.
"Activate phase 5, McFist," The Sorceress nodded towards the man, and he pushed a button giddily. Cameras began to pop up from the floor and ceiling of the seared hallways, and screens from all over Norrisville displayed the events unfolding from the school. "Norrisville, behold! Your protector has fallen!" The cameras focused on the squirming ninja, who struggled to stand himself up as pain continued to course through his body. The ninja pulled out a bomb from his pockets, throwing it at the Sorceress and her two lackeys. The two tried to shield themselves while the Sorceress merely had a relaxed expression on her face. The bomb rolled towards them weakly, and let out a small flatulent sound, rather than the expected explosion.
"What the cheese?!" The ninja tiredly said. The Sorceress bellowed out laughter, "Your connection with the Tengu is gone now! Without it, you are nothing more than a mere child playing dress up. Now, give us the key to the Sorcerer's vault, and we might let you live." The ninja shook his head, "You just want his remaining power balls, don't you? No way am I ever going to let you have it!" The Sorceress grinned expectantly, "I was hoping that you would say that," lighting cackled within her hands, and she directed it at him, sending a shock of electricity his way. The Sorceress watched as the ninja writhed in pain then turned towards McFist and Viceroy, "What are you waiting for? Break him now." The two looked at each other uncomfortably for a moment as they stared at the ninja's sorry state, but shook it off. "Let's do this Viceroy," McFist gripped his metallic arm tightly. The scientist moaned, "Fine, but don't tell Nicholas about this," he pulled out a taser from his pockets and they all closed in on the ninja.
Suddenly the ninja was met with a barrage of hits from all sides, he tried to get up but as he did, McFist mockingly yelled out in a higher pitch, "McFist punch!" McFist punted him into the ground. The ninja pushed himself up again to tease McFist, "I didn't know that you liked me well enough to copy me, McFist," the ninja wheezed agonizingly as he joked. "Still joking, are you?" The Sorceress threw a ball of fire straight at him, the ninja yelped as the fire burned his chest, "That's fine, this wouldn't be any fun if it was too easy." Viceroy then chimed in, as he shocked the ninja, "Sorry, ninja but the bills don't pay themselves."
The Sorceress faced the cameras, "This is the end for your protector Norrisville," hitting the ninja with another burst of electricity, "Bow down to the Sorceress!" A chaotic scent sprang from the entirety of the city as panic spread, "Yes! Chaos flows free once again!" The Sorceress' power balls glowed brighter as she began to absorb energy from the people's darkest emotions. She raised her hands high up, and green smoke condensed within her palms, "This is it ninja! You will pay for everything you've done to us!" The ninja winced as he tried to guard himself.
This was it, wasn't it? If only he had listened to the Nomicon a bit more. If he was more careful, if he had just been…It didn't matter now. He couldn't believe it. He was going to go without having to say goodbye to his best friend, without going on a date with…someone that he may or may not have a crush on, or without even getting to watch the new Grave Punchers movie. But he did manage to get some of the students to safety, they can fight on. They'll have to finish this on their own. At least, he gave them a tomorrow, a tomorrow that he might not get.
The ninja was sorry, that he had to leave this all behind for them. But seeing no other option, the ninja closed his eyes, accepting his fate.
A whirring sound rushed past the hallways of Norrisville High, distracting McFist, "Hey does anyone else hear that?" His two accomplices turned their eyes away, hearing something bump into the lockers of the school. "A rescue attempt?" Viceroy surmised until they heard them crash into another locker, "A bad rescue attempt," Viceroy aptly added.
The Sorceress groaned as her attack was still charging, "Send out the Robo-Apes before they- "She was cut off as a ball with an M-shaped logo rolled at their feet, "Look out!" McFist yelled as he jumped out of the way. The Sorceress concentration was broken, losing power over the ball of fire which dissipated.
A glider zoomed into the room, and projectiles fired from his gun, clamping onto the legs and arms of those present in the room. "What the cheese, Viceroy! These are McFist weapons!" McFist complained as he struggled against the hold of the clamps. Viceroy annoyed yelled out, "Whoever you are, when I get my hands on you, you will pay for stealing my babies!" Not caring for their grievances, the Sorceress concentrated and used her magic to break herself free, breaking the clamps holding her down. Seeing this, the caped pilot of the glider landed right beside the ninja and picked him up. The ninja groggily announced the identity of his mysterious savior, "Le Béret?" The figure nodded, and spoke with a distorted voice, "Yeah, let's get you out of here buddy."
Viceroy inspected 'Le Béret's' gear, "Hey Hannibal, doesn't that look like your party glider outfit?" McFist squinted his eyes, and held a shock expression once he realized that Viceroy was correct, "Oh my cheese! Get that party glider!" Robo-Apes slowly gathered towards the costumed pair, who merely jettisoned from the scene.
"You know Viceroy, I was actually going to use that thing to surprise Marci," McFist explained, Viceroy rolled his eyes, "I know, I was there when you asked me for it. I told you that you shouldn't have placed it next to the WND warehouse." McFist directed Viceroy's accusation back at him, "You stored it in the warehouse!" Their argument was interrupted as the Sorceress had finally managed to free herself from her clamps, "Do not pursue them," the Sorceress ordered which elicited muddled looks from the two men.
"What?" They asked in unison.
The Sorceress rolled her eyes, "The ninja will come sooner or later, but for now, I am content with ensuring that he suffers the way that I have. Let the Robo-Apes loose on the city cause more chaos," her power balls separated from her neck and surrounded the group, "And that will give me the power to send this world into oblivion."
"W-What?!" The two men cried, stunned by the sudden revelation of the Sorceress' true intentions. The Sorceress' power balls came close to the two as they voiced their concerns. "You see, I have no intention of letting a world that ruined my beloved continue to exist. I will destroy it then remake it into our image, then and only then can we truly be reunited!" The Sorceress then made an offer to calm the two sniveling men, "If you do as I say, then I will let you both become a part of my new world."
The Sorceress pulled them close, and whispered her ultimatum, "That is my final offer to you. Will you accept?" The two turned towards each other with a look of deliberation.
Norrisville watched on as what seemed to be their last hope, had accepted the Sorceress' deal as they both bowed to her. The streets were suddenly filled with dread, and unease.
Chaos finally reigns.
