Chapter 5

"What AU needs healing the most?" Frisk asked.

"Pretty much all of them have suffered in some way, kiddo," Ink said gently. "You pick one and I'll check to make sure the coast is clear."

"Ink," Error spoke up, making the others look at him. "I th-think one of us shou-should go with Frisk to which-whichever AU she picks to travel to next."

"I'm with Error on this one," Charlotte said with a nod. "If Volcano is still out there looking for Frisk, then she's going to need one of us to protect her until we can get Volcano to see reason."

Ink nodded before Frisk looked worried. "Wait, what about Uncle Sans and Uncle Gaster?" She asked. "Are they okay? Volcano sent an attack through the portal they made."

"Let me check," Ink said, heading out. To his shock, the classic timeline had fiery chains surrounding it. "Oh, Volcano. What have you done?" He asked himself before heading back into the house.

Charlotte could tell by the look on his face that he didn't have good news. "My love?" She asked.

He sighed. "The door to the Classic Timeline is sealed with fiery chains," he said. "It's Volcano's doing. I'm sure of it."

"Let me go see," Error said, heading out. He found the door to the Classic Timeline and saw the chains, reaching out his blue strings to touch them and hoping the strings would break the chains.

But to his shock, the chains burned the blue strings and the chains also shimmered too. "Blast it," he said in frustration before heading back into the house. "Ink's right. But it's wor-worse than some cha-chains."

"What is it?" Frisk asked.

Error sighed. "A power-powerful spell," he replied. "The cha-chains are rein-reinforced with a fire spell. My str-strings couldn't break it."

"This isn't good," Charlotte said. "So when Volcano sent that attack through the portal Frisk's uncles made, he also sent fire chains and spell on the door to her timeline?"

"Looks like it," Ink said. "Which means unless those chains and spell can be removed...,"

"I can't go back home," Frisk finished, her eyes filling with tears as she fell to her knees, her tears now falling down her face.

Error got up and picked up the child, holding her in a hug to comfort her. "We'll fi-find a way to br-break those cha-chains," he promised her. "You'll get to go home, Frisk. I prom-promise."

Charlotte nodded. "It may take a bit, but you keep staying determined, sweetie," she said. "Hopefully if Volcano sees all the good you are doing, he'll stop chasing after you."

"And perhaps lift the chains and spell off the door to your home," Ink said.

Frisk took a deep breath as she recalled how it had been hard to befriend Undyne, but she had done so and she turned to look at them while Error was still holding her. "It wasn't easy for me to befriend Aunty Undyne, but I did so in the end," she said. "I didn't give up, though it seemed like the easy choice."

"What made you not give up on befriending her?" Charlotte asked curiously.

"Uncle Papyrus was always telling me how Undyne was a good person and I wanted to believe that," Frisk said. "But I had to prove to her that I wasn't like other humans."

"How did you prove that to her?" Ink asked.

"I helped her when she almost passed out after chasing me into Hotland," the child said.

Error smiled. "You took the oppor-opportunity to help her," he said. "You cou-could have fin-finished her for good."

"But I didn't want to," she said.

Charlotte smiled. "Your act of kindness proved that you were a good person and made Undyne realize that you were going to stick to your path of being a pacifist," she said.

Frisk nodded. "I want to prove that to Volcano, but I don't think he's going to listen to me unless he's in need of help, like Aunty Undyne."

"I've got a feeling that you're right, kiddo," Ink said. "Well, as the saying goes, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, let's focus on another AU."

Error brought Frisk outside to the doors of the AUs and she looked around before seeing one that caught her eye. "That one," she said.

"Glitchtale?" He asked.

"Yes."

Error took her inside and Frisk began using her powers, healing the AU, making the inhabitants notice and they were stunned to see a child with Error and the child had magic.

Magic that was fixing everything.

When the AU was repaired, Frisk waved to them all before she and Error left the area, heading back into the Doodlesphere. "So far, so good," Ink said, having kept an eye on things.

"I think the inhabitants were surprised," Charlotte said, smiling.

Frisk then pointed to another door. "That one," she said.

"Underfell," Ink said. "It's the exact opposite of your timeline, kiddo."

She nodded and Error spoke up. "Ink, you go wi-with Frisk on this one," he said.

"He's right," Charlotte said. "Red knows you, as does his brother."

Nodding, Ink picked up Frisk and went through Underfell's door.

They were met with red bones facing them before Underfell Sans came out and he paused at seeing them. "Ink," he said.

"Hi, Red," the painter skeleton said, setting the young girl down on her feet.

Red then saw the child with him and blinked. "Frisk?" He asked.

She nodded. "She's from the Classic Timeline," Ink explained.

The gold-toothed skeleton nodded. "Then it's true," he said. "A human with the power to heal AUs and a version of Grillby is after her."

Just then, Underfell Papyrus came out and he looked stunned. "Sans...is that the child?" He asked.

"Sure is, Boss," Red said with a nod. "The kid that healed Geno's timeline."

"Hi, Edge," Ink said with a nod.

Edge looked at Frisk, who shrank a little under his gaze. He sighed. "Since my brother and Ink vouch for you, you are safe with me and my brother," he said.

Red then looked at the child. "Can you...heal our AU too?" He asked her.

Nodding, she took a deep breath, using her new magic. Edge and Red were stunned to feel the magic, but didn't fight it as they sensed the magic was being used with good intentions. It wasn't long before Underfell Frisk came out and she looked stunned to see her doppleganger healing the timeline. Even Flowey was shocked.

After a bit, the AU was fully healed and Frisk groaned a little, swaying. Edge was quick to catch her, surprising the others. "She's weakened from using her magic," he said, doing a CHECK on her. "Did she use some before coming here?"

"She did," Ink said. "She healed Glitchtale."

Red also did a CHECK. "If we use too much magic at once, we feel tired," he said. "Looks like the same applies to her too."

"I better get her home to rest then," the painter skeleton said, accepting the tired girl from Edge. "By the way, do you guys have a way to contact Sans from the Classic Timeline? When Volcano destroyed the portal that Classic Sans and Gaster had made, he also put a spell on the door to the Classic Timeline."

"Which means she can't return," Edge said, sensing the problem.

"I can try," Red said. "If I do, I'll let him know that his kid's okay and safe with you."

"Thank you," Ink said before heading back to the Doodlesphere. Charlotte greeted them while Error looked worried.

"I shou-should have known she nee-needed to rest before use-using her magic again," he said.

"It's not your fault, Error," Charlotte said gently.

Frisk looked at them with a tired smile. "I'm okay," she said. "Just...really tired."

"You rest now, kiddo," Ink said gently, setting her down on the couch.

No sooner had he done so, she was out like a light. "Okay, so next time, we let her heal one AU at a time," Charlotte said.

"Agreed," Error said. "Let her re-rest for a couple of days."

Ink nodded. "I hope Red is able to get a message to Classic Sans," he said. "He's got to be worried sick about Frisk."

"No doubt," Charlotte said with a nod.

Error gently placed a blanket over Frisk. "We'll pro-protect her," he said.

The other two nodded as they sat nearby, doing quiet activities while the child slept.

So yes, just like the monsters, Frisk can only use so much of her magic before she gets tired, hence her falling asleep after Ink brought her back to the Doodlesphere.
