Chapter 12

That night, Frisk couldn't sleep and got up, gazing out the window to see all was quiet. She sighed and bit her lip, really wanting to go heal another alternate timeline, but she knew she couldn't go out alone and she didn't want to wake the others up. "You up for a late night stroll?" A voice asked, making her jump and turn to see it was Caramel, who smiled at her. "You're eager to go heal another timeline, right?"

She nodded, looking a bit guilty. "I just...I don't know," she said. "I feel like...I need to do so now."

Caramel closed his eyes and a soft, sweet note came from his throat before he opened his eyes. "Yeah, I feel it too," he said. "And I think I know where it's coming from."

"Where?" The child asked.

"Flowerfell."

Frisk cocked her head to the side curiously. "Is it a dangerous timeline?" She asked.

"No, but it's a very sad timeline," Ink said as he came up to them. "You guys couldn't sleep either?"

"No," Caramel said. "I think...someone is Flowerfell is calling out for help. Maybe our counterpart."

"I think you may be right," the painter skeleton said. "I'll get Lullaby Grillby and PreciousTale Grillby up."

"No need," said the latter as they walked up. "We can sense it too."

Charlotte, Dream, Nightmare, Stretch, and Error came up to them all too. "Whoever is sending out that call, it's very strong," Dream said.

"I think they may be a bit scared," Nightmare said.

"That Fr-Frisk won't heal their time-timeline," Error said.

The child looked at him before determination filled her. "They need my help, then I'm going to help them," she said. "I promised and I'm not going to break my promise."

Refract chuckled as he came up to them all. "Then let's head over there," he said. "I believe Caramel is right. It is Flowerfell Sans that is calling out to us."

The group headed outside, going up to the portal to Flowerfell and going in. Frisk could feel the sadness in the timeline at once and she had tears in her eyes. "I can feel it," she said. "It's...It's so sad."

A Sans came up to them, looking at them with hope before looking at the child. "I've heard about you," he said. "You can heal timelines."

"Yes," she said.

He kneeled down before her. "Can you heal mine too? Please?" He pleaded.

She nodded and took a deep breath, her powers activating and Flowerfell Sans closed his own eyes, feeling the gentle magic sweeping over him and extending everywhere. Frisk opened her eyes and determination took hold of her. "I wish for this timeline to have a happy ending," she said.

Flowerfell Sans opened his eyes and looked around, amazed. Ink closed his eyes and smiled before opening them. "Your timeline is healed," he said.

The Sans of Flowerfell began to cry, scooping Frisk up into a hug. "You are an angel, kid," he sobbed out. "Thank you so much."

She hugged him back and he gave her to Caramel. "Keep her safe," he pleaded to his counterpart.

"We will," Caramel promised as they headed out and protective chains were put on the portal.

Frisk then saw the portal to Dreamtale and pointed to it. "I need to fulfill my promise to Dream and Nightmare," she said.

"You sure, kiddo?" Charlotte said.

"Yes."

The group looked at each other before nodding and entering the portal. Dream and Nightmare looked around sadly, but then felt the same glow they had just a moment before, the area glowing with the healing magic and the tree that stood nearby was healed, along with a person appearing before them and smiling. "My sons," she said.

"Mother!" Dream and Nightmare cried out happily, hugging her as Frisk healed the rest of the timeline, smiling happily.

"There," she said.

Nightmare scooped her up into a hug and Dream gave her one of his golden apples, which she gratefully ate. "Thank you, Frisk," he said. "You truly are an angel."

"Healing all the AUs," Nightmare said, smiling. "You did it, Frisk."

She smiled before looking worried. "Yes, but there is still something I need to do," she said.

"Volcano," Ink said.

"And getting the chains off her timeline," Charlotte said. "How much time do we have before it's too late, my love?"

He closed his eyes and he opened them. "There is still time," he said. "But I'd advise urgency."

"I ag-agree," Error said.

Refract sighed softly. "What if...there is no other choice?" He asked. "What if...Volcano stays trapped forever?"

"No," Frisk said firmly. "I'm going to get through to him, Refract. Somehow."

They headed out of Dreamtale and the protective chains were put in place. Just then, a loud roar reached them all and they saw Volcano in the distance, but he looked like he wasn't doing so well. He saw them and growled. "YOU!" He cried out as he started to run towards them. "TRAITORS!"

"Back to the house!" Ink said urgently. "Frisk can't fight him while she's drained!"

Everyone began running with Refract and Charlotte sticking close to Nightmare, who was still holding Frisk. Dream stuck with them too as Stretch, Ink, Error, Caramel, Lullaby Grillby and PreciousTale Grillby warded off Volcano's attacks. "My love! We need a portal!" Charlotte called out.

Ink at once ran up to her and then a bit ahead, slashing the air with his paintbrush and creating a portal to the house. Charlotte stood by it and made sure the others got in first before she went inside and pulled Ink with her, the portal closing with another slash of Ink's paintbrush.

They heard Volcano roar in anger. "TRAITORS!" He screamed out again. "THE CHILD WILL MISUSE HER POWERS!"

The group looked worried. "I don't know if he'll listen to reason," Dream said worriedly.

"I hate to suggest this, but I think we need to tire him out," Stretch said. "He's getting tired from what I can see."

"He's right," Lullaby Grillby said.

"If he uses too much more magic...," PreciousTale Grillby trailed off.

"He could pass away," Refract said, looking fearful of that thought.

Frisk looked at Nightmare and motioned to be put down. He set her down and she marched to the door, determination filling her. "Frisk?" Error asked.

She turned to them. "If there's one thing I learned in my battle with Aunt Undyne, it's that running away isn't going to solve the problem. It only delays it," she said before looking at the skeleton who had given her the healing powers. "Refract, will Volcano attack me if I don't attack him?"

"No," he said. "Despite his vendetta against you, he will not strike first. He may come at you with an attack and land one near you to scare you, but if you don't attack, he will not land the first punch."

She nodded. "Then I know what I need to do," she said, opening the door and going outside. They watched as she walked a bit away before stopping and taking a deep breath. "Volcano! Here I am!" She yelled out.

Charlotte grabbed a book and pen and headed for the door. "Come on," she said. "Even if he doesn't land the first blow to her, she's going to need our help in case things go south."

The others nodded and followed her, standing behind Frisk with their powers ready to intervene if need be. Error looked at Frisk. "Kid? Are you su-sure about this?" He asked.

"Absolutely," she said. "I promised to stay Pacifist and I will to the end. I refuse to hurt anyone, Volcano included."

Refract smiled proudly at her. "Your family would be proud of you, young one," he said. "I promise, we will get you home and save your timeline."

"We just have to convince a fire monster bent on hurting you to do so," Ink said.

"I'm not sure he'd listen to you two, would he?" Dream asked both Lullaby Grillby and PreciousTale Grillby, but both shook their heads.

"I'm afraid this might solely be up to Frisk," Nightmare said.

"And that's what I'm worried about," Stretch said. "Kid? What if...,"

She held up a hand to stop his sentence. "I can make him change his mind about me and I will," she said. "I won't attack him, no matter how many attacks he throws at me."

A roar sounded right then and they saw Volcano, but he looked ragged and his red fire was dim. "I think he's running on fumes," Caramel said. "No pun intended."

"He's ri-right," Error said.

Lullaby Grillby was concerned. "If he does too much more magic...,"

"He won't make it," PreciousTale Grillby finished.

Volcano charged at them, his eyes burning as his fist reared back. Frisk closed her eyes and held her hands to her sides, waiting.

Will Volcano go against his morals and throw the first punch? Or will Frisk finally get through to him?
