A few days later, it was settled. David had what he needed to know. He had also collected the hormones that Brooklyn would need to take when he got home.

There was a big event uptown tonight that would get most of the staff out of the facility and David was left in charge of the gargoyle while they were gone. It was a good chance to get Brooklyn out of here.

When all the staff, including the doctor were gone, David saw his chance and he went into Brooklyn's cell room to unlock the chains on his wrists first. "Now we're getting out of here." David said.

"Ah! That feels so good." Brooklyn stated, rubbing his wrists since they had been in cuffs for over a month. He rubbed them to get circulation back in them. It felt good to have them free again.

"Come. Let's get you out of here." David said. Brooklyn gladly left the cell, and they left the facility together. For now, David would hide the hormones at least until they got home.

Brooklyn was so happy to be out of that facility. He wanted to see his clan most desperately. He had missed them so much. He hadn't used his wings in over a month, and they would likely cramp up if he used them. But David got Brooklyn to his helicopter, and they flew home. Brook sat on the seat up front.

"Brooklyn, before we get home, I have something to tell you." David began.

"What about?" Brook replied.

"I have this bag of stuff that the men at the facility were giving you. It's not drugs or anything. Do you feel any different?" David asked.

"No, not really. Why?"

"This stuff, you might need to go on taking it for a while. Just take one of them a night. Mix it with a glass of water." David instructed.

"Why should I trust anything they were giving me?" Brook demanded. "I would sooner stop it."

"It's important, Brooklyn. If you stop taking it, it will have bad repercussions if you stop taking them." David explained. "It's for your health."

"I've been fine for years without having to take any drugs."

"I assure you; you need to for a while longer. Promise me you'll do it."

"Why? Is there something I need to know?" Brooklyn asked.

"I'm not sure. I was just told that you need to take these or else something bad will happen." David said.

"Fine. Just for a little while until you find out what it is." Brooklyn growled reluctantly.

"Can I give them to you and expect you to take them with a glass of water every night? I will be checking." David declared. "Keep it in the bathroom in your room."

Brooklyn wondered what it was about this stuff that the man was so insistent on him taking it.

Soon, the castle and Eyrie Building were in sight. Brooklyn was excited about seeing it again along with his clan. David called Owen to let him know that he had the red male and that they were coming in.

The copter soon touched down. Brooklyn was glad to get out of the copter. These were grounds he never thought he would see again.

"So, you finally found out where he was?" Owen declared. He was waiting.

"Yes, I did. He's just fine." David said. "Here, Brooklyn. Do like I instructed." He handed the bag over to the red male. It was amazing none of his clan was there to greet him.

"Yes, Sir." Brooklyn said and took the bag. He wondered where they were. Likely out on patrol.

Brooklyn entered the castle. He had missed these walls. He soon found his own room and took the bag to the bathroom. He opened it up to have a look inside. There were liquid samples inside it, and they had certain dates on them.

There were packets that were good for up to six months. What were these for? He saw the one that was labeled for tonight too. He wondered so much what was in this packet that he had to take one every night. He never had to before.

David soon came into the room. "I don't think you were given tonight's sample." He said.

"What are these packets for?" Brooklyn demanded.

"They're special supplements." David replied. "To uh, keep your stomach settled." He made up something for now. He wasn't quite ready to tell the red male that he was pregnant, but he would need to know soon. Being pregnant and fighting was not good for him.

"Well, the nimrods were keeping me overfed as it was. I think they were wanting me to get fat." Brooklyn spoke his thoughts.

As David looked at the red male, he saw indeed that he looked a little bigger in the flesh but not by much. He was still lean enough.

"For now, Brooklyn, take it easy when you're going out with the clan once you start patrolling again. But I would suggest waiting a little while." David suggested before leaving.

Brooklyn cocked an eye ridge. The man sure was acting strangely around him. Whatever. He then next put the packets away and then used his earphone to call Goliath.

"Goliath?"

Across the city, Goliath and the others were listening on their phones too. It was a voice on the line they thought they would never hear again.

"Brooklyn?" Goliath replied. "Where are you?"

"I'm at home."

"Where have you been? Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. I was captured by the Illuminati. Xanatos got me out tonight. I would love to see you all. I'll explain more when you get home."

"We'll be there soon." Hudson declared on his line.

The clan all turned excitedly from their patrols and turned back to the castle. They were concerned to see how Brooklyn was now that he was back home again.

...

The clan had soon all returned from their patrols or looking for Brooklyn. There were big cheers he was home and sobbing about from Angela. Then there were rushing questions. Goliath eventually spoke above them. "Calm down, everyone. Let's give Brooklyn a breather so he can answer our questions."

"Thank you. Yeah, I missed you all too." Brooklyn smiled. "I didn't know if I'd see you again either."

"How did you get away from your captors?" Hudson asked.

"Xanatos helped me. It was one of the Illuminati that kidnapped me. Him and his men. They ran tests on me." Brook explained.

"What sort of tests?" Lex asked.

"Weightlifting, swimming and nearly drowning me, darts, heat and cold tolerance, even testing my digestion." Brooklyn put a hand on his belly with that one.

"You seem alright now." Hudson said.

"Yeah. When they started feeding me after a few days, they put a lot of food on the plates and expected me to eat all of it. They were overfeeding me more than what I could handle. Even forcing a tube down my throat." Brook's ears flattened. He had no idea what else they had done to him secretly.

"They should pay for hurting you." Broadway growled.

"They will if we ever get our hands on them." Goliath decreed. "We will not allow that."

"But how are you right now, Brooklyn?" Angela asked.

"Relieved." He sighed. "Just glad to be home."

"So are we." Lex smiled.

"How about we have a special meal?" Broadway offered.

"Okay." Brook said.

Broadway and Angela went to go start working on the dinner. Brooklyn and the others went to the tv room. The red male had never thought he would see tv again. He had missed that too.

After an hour of cooking, the food was ready, and the clan came to the dining room. There, they all let Brooklyn pick his food first, being the guest of honor. He didn't get treatment like that often, but he sure deserved it now after being gone for so long.

In his office, David was talking to Fox and Owen. He was also holding Alex. "Keep an eye on Brooklyn. From what I was told at the facility, he has to take some hormone supplements every night. I was told that he's got an unexpected pregnancy going on. It was an experiment done on him." David explained.

Owen and Fox were stunned. "That is unbelievable, David. Males can't get pregnant." Fox stated.

"I know, but with scientists, they can seem to make anything happen. It's amazing Dr. Sevarius didn't do this, but make sure not to tell him about Brooklyn's condition. He'll want him for sure."

Fox and Owen knew better. Sevarius had parted ways with them long ago when they became the gargoyles' allies. "But don't tell Brooklyn of his condition yet." David ordered. "We need to keep an eye on him to make sure he is alright first."

"If he truly is pregnant, he will find out eventually." Fox determined. "That's something he can't hide for long no matter what."

"I know."

"But should we intervene with the hormones?" Owen asked. "Brooklyn might decide to throw them away."

"Yes, most likely." David agreed. "I'll go get them while the clan is eating."

David knew the way to Brooklyn's room. The door wasn't locked, and he went into the bathroom first. He would just need to have contact with Brooklyn once a night to make sure he was taking the hormones. He thought that the clan having new babies in it would be really interesting from his scientific point of view. He didn't want to chance the red male throwing them out. He took them and hid them in a safe place.

...

The clan finished up their celebrity meal and spent the rest of the night watching some movies that Brooklyn picked out. They were all just glad to be a family again.

The next night, Brooklyn didn't want to leave the castle at all. He liked patrolling but he just wanted to spend some time at home after having just gotten back.

"I understand, Brooklyn." Goliath said. "You can spend a few nights here to get settled in again. Hudson, would you accompany me tonight?"

"Of course, Lad." Hudson replied.

"I'll leave Bronx here with you, Brooklyn." Goliath stated.

"Thanks. I don't want to be alone." Brooklyn declared.

"The rest of you, you know what your tasks are tonight." Goliath decreed and they all took off.

"We can hang out later when I get back." Lex said before he took off with Angela.

"I'd like that, Lex." Brook smiled. Then they were gone.

Brooklyn went to the tv room to enjoy some more tv with Bronx following him. The gar dog had missed him greatly too. He didn't remember anything about needing to take his hormones. He had forgotten about them. But Xanatos hadn't.

David put a packet in a cup of tea. Likely, Brooklyn had missed tea.

Brooklyn was watching a comedy on tv when there was a knock. He looked back. It was only David. "Oh, hi, Xanatos."

"Did you forget to take your supplement?" David asked.

"I really want to stop taking them. I really don't need them." Brooklyn said.

"I'm sorry, Brooklyn, but when the Illuminati operated on your stomach, they messed it up somehow and they had you taking the supplements to keep your belly calmed down." David made it up but for a good reason.

"What did they do to me?" Brooklyn asked, more than alarmed now.

"You had some intestines that were infected, and the supplements are for treating them." David fibbed.

"My stone sleep would likely heal that problem." Brook declared.

"Not always. But here, I brought you this. A cup of chamomile tea with the supplement in it. It'll make it easier to take. You must keep taking it for a while, Brooklyn. At least for a few more weeks to be sure your stomach is really alright." David explained. "I have your supplements by the way."

Brooklyn didn't want to be forced onto supplements but if something was wrong, he needed a doctor. But in truth, he had seen enough doctors for a long time. He took the tea from the man gently and sipped it. It smelled good. It tasted good too.

"It might also be good to avoid caffeinated drinks and seafood." David advised. "They could also aggravate the condition."

"That seems like a little much." Brooklyn stated. But he didn't want to get sick.

"Yeah. Just a precaution. But you must take one every night." David said. He then let him get back to his show.

Now that he knew something was going on, he couldn't help but glance down at his belly. What was going on with it? He felt fine right now. But he did remember the surgery too. Figures those morons wanted to do something cowardly to him.

He soon finished the tea and watched his show. He just didn't want to focus on the problem though it was still on his mind long after his clan came home too.
