Robert had insisted Ethan stay with him so the two of them could brainstorm together. Ethan agreed as long as he got the couch. They had ordered Chinese food while they went over their last conversations with Holly.

Ethan took a deep breath, he knew this might be hard for Robert to hear but also knew his mother's life mattered more. "She was falling apart, she told me you two had let each other go and she had to get over you. I told her to go to you and she said no. Robert you were the reason she came back to town." Ethan told him.

Robert felt like a complete ass. She was very open about her feelings for him but needing to protect Ethan. He knew he broke her heart and right now he would do anything to change that. "Ethan...I..."

Ethan shook his head. "You owe me no explanation. I know you two have a history that is complicated, more complicated than anyone besides the two of you could know but I also know there is a lot of love. I know you would give up everything for her and she told me what you were going to give up for me. I appreciate that more than you know."

Robert gave him a nod, Ethan was his son to him. Like Robin he would do anything in the world for his child. "You know your not just Holly's son but you are mine in my eyes..."

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Robert stood up. "Hopefully this is Felicia." He said as he walked over to the door. He opened it and Diane Miller pushed her way in. "Robert I was thinking it would be a great time for us to..." Ethan caught Diane's eye. What was he doing here? "Oh, Holly in trouble again?" She flatly said, accompanied by an eye roll.

Robert had things that came to mind to say but wanted to keep Holly's disappearance from anyone that didn't need to know. "We needed some father son bonding time." Robert said, hoping to not of overstepped.

"Yes, my mother isn't the only reason the two of us spend time together." Ethan added, he was annoyed with her attitude but keeping his cool.

"Robert do you really think spending time with Holly's son is what is best for you?" Diane asked him, her arms folded.

"Let me handle what's best for me, is there a reason you are here?" Robert asked her, rather annoyed at the tone she was taking towards Ethan.

"Well I wanted to spend time with you but I see Holly found a way to mess things up...again." Diane was visibly annoyed.

"You know my mother didn't send me here. Robert is like a father to me." Ethan felt the need to stick up for his mom. He didn't like Diane and this attitude she was displaying Holly had done nothing to her.

"He isn't your father, your father is dead." Diane blurted out.

The rage Robert felt almost made him lose his cool but he refused to, he couldn't. How dare she speak to Ethan that way. "I need you to leave." Robert went over and opened the door.

Diane gasped as she walked over to the door. "If it's not Holly it's Holly's bastard son." She murmured.

"Don't you ever speak about Ethan that way again, ever." Robert slammed the door behind her.

"And you were struggling to choose between her and my mother?" Ethan asked without thinking.

"Trust me I don't even know what I was thinking." Robert went back over to sit back down.
