Robert and Holly were still sitting with Ethan who had fallen asleep again. The medicine they gave him for pain knocked him out. The two of them were so relieved that Ethan was doing okay, that the shot didn't do much damage to him and the he was expected to make a full recovery soon.
Robert looked over at Holly who was watching Ethan sleep. "Do you know how gorgeous you are?" He asked quietly, completely in awe of how gorgeous she truly is.
"I probably look rough but I do appreciate it coming from you." She used a quiet voice as well as she smiled sweetly at him. He had always known how to make her smile, always knew how to pick her mood up.
"I had something I wanted to ask you." Robert took her hand into his, he wanted to do this right.
"Anything." Holly's face lit up, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Robert. She was curious as to what he was about to ask her.
"Do you want to go on a date with me tonight?" He asked her with a grin.
"A date? You know I would never pass that up." Holly couldn't help but grin back at him, he had her heart and soul and she knew he knew that.
"Where do you want to go? Anywhere." Robert told her, he wasn't sure exactly what she was up for.
"I kind of like the idea of picking up some food, going back home and watching a movie." Holly smiled at him, she wasn't really looking forward to dealing with questions and having people interrupt their time together, they had had enough of that.
"Really?" Robert asked, he wanted to do whatever she was up for. He knew she had been through a lot these past few months, years, actually decades.
"Yes really. I want to get some food, go back home, slip into your pajamas and watch a movie." Holly spoke softly her eyes still sparkling.
"Didn't you feed me that line last night?" Robert teased her. He couldn't resist. "I don't seem to recall you ever putting them on." He wiggled his brows, memories of last night making his eyes sparkle yet again.
Holly blushed as she playfully swatted at him. "Are you complaining?"
"Never." Robert pulled her hand up to his lips and kissed it. "I think your idea of a night in sounds great. Any movie in mind?" Robert asked, knowing the answer.
"Rebecca." Holly knew Robert knew what she was going to say. "This time you might even get more than a kiss and I won't run off."
Robert looked deep into her eyes. "Even if I just get to hold you that's good enough for me."
Holly moved her hand onto his cheek, stroking it. "You have no idea how good it feels to know I get to be in those arms every chance I get now."
"You have no idea how good it is to hold you." Robert put his arms around her.
Holly leaned into his embrace. "Oh yes I do, it's heavenly." She rested her head on his neck, loving every minute of what her definition of home was.
Robert just sat holding her close, he loved this, he hadn't been out of love with her in forty years and finally they were together. He wanted so much to make her feel safe. Robert kissed her head.
Holly nuzzled his neck. "I never feel safer than I do in your arms, darling."
"I want to always make you feel this safe, always make you feel loved." Robert finished what he was saying just as Annie tapped on the door.
"Don't mean to interrupt. Thought we could swap and you two could go home. I know you have been through a lot." Annie looked at Holly, she knew some of the details but not all and she had no intention on pushing to find out.
Holly smiled at her. "That's very kind of you." Holly stood up, Robert did too. "I know Ethan will be well looked after," Holly reached out and took Annie's hand. "I'm very glad he has you."
"I'm glad Seana has her daddy and her other grandparents. She thinks grandpa is just the coolest." Annie smiled while looking over at Robert.
Robert couldn't help but grin. "I think she is too. Call us if you or Ethan need anything."
"Anything." Holly reiterated. "We can't wait to spend more time getting to know Seana and you. Of course I can't wait to have some Tiffany time either." Holly's face lit up mentioning one of he best friends.
"We would all like that." Annie told Holly, giving her a hug.
Holly returned her hug. "You have a good night."
"You both have one too." Annie gave Robert a hug.
"Goodnight." Robert hugged her back. Holly place a kiss on Ethan's head before the two of them left the hospital room, knowing Ethan was in good hands.
Annie sat down near Ethan's bed, taking his hand into hers once again.
