No song so…

Are You Gonna Go My Way—Lenny Kravitz

"What's the deal with the concert?" Alice asks, looking between the guys. "It sounds fun."

"I'm hoping my buddy comes through with the tickets," Jasper says after balling his napkin and tossing it into his empty basket. "I don't want you to get your hopes up just yet."

My brows furrow, as this is the first I'm hearing about it. My eyes automatically go to Mase. "What concert?"

He holds up his hands. "Don't look at me. I'm game, but I was waiting on the bloke to come through before I asked if you wanted to come."

"You're trying to get tickets for us?" My heart does a little flip.

He winks. "Bloody right I am."

"And if I said no?"

He grabs his chest, fake wounded. "You're killing me, love."

I lean over and kiss him.

I don't think about it or second guess it, I just do. Because he's cute and sweet and all the things I like in a guy.

Alice tosses Jasper's balled-up napkin and hits me on the side of the head. "You two are adorable, and I love to see it," she says, waggling her brows. "But save that shit for when you're alone."

"Fine." I give him one more quick peck. "So whose concert are we talking about going to?"

"Nirvana," Jasper answers, smiling widely. "How's that for kickass?"

"That would be fucking awesome," I say, getting my hopes up for the first time. "When will you know if you scored?"

"I'm supposed to stop by the guy's house in a couple hours."

"Fuck yes," Alice says, fist-pumping. "Are we going to stay in Seattle?"

"Oh, that would be cool," I say excitedly, looking at Mase. "What do you think?"

"You and me? Completely alone, all night?"

It feels as if the entire diner has gone silent as he awaits my reply. I'm not even sure if that's what I was asking, but there's no time like the present to ponder that very thing.

Am I ready for that?

Has enough time passed?

I've been seeing him for about three weeks already, and the concert date is still several weeks away. There's never been a time where I thought it wouldn't happen between us by the given deadline, so why not then?

He holds my gaze as I work through it all, and I nod slowly. "Yeah," I say, and it comes out all breathy sounding, so I clear my throat. "I think that would be nice."

Jasper grabs an imaginary knife and stabs himself in the chest. "Nice. The kiss of death, dude."

"Shut up, dude." I mock Jasper's tone before meeting Mase's patient gaze. "I'd love to spend the night with you in Seattle."

"Then we should go whether we get tickets or not," Alice tosses out. "We can listen outside the arena if nothing else."

"Fine by me," Mase says, shrugging.

"It's settled then," Alice declares, holding her hand up for a high five across the table. "Seattle here we come."

"Do you think it'll be easy to book a room?" I ask, worried that no one will let a bunch of teens rent a room. Jasper is twenty, but he doesn't even have a bank account.

"I'll ask Rose," Alice volunteers. "As long as we pay for it, she should be cool with it."

"Works for me." I shrug, looking to Mase. "I have my half."

"No way," he replies, shaking his head. "I'm not about to let my bird pay for her ticket or the room."

I roll my eyes, but I'm also fighting a smile. "That's very gentlemanly of you but calling me your bird is a little creepy."

He was all ready to argue the point until he heard the end of my sentence, so he deflates with a chuckle. "Fair enough. I'll be more mindful in the future."

"It's not all your uses of bird," I say, wanting to make myself clear. His British slang is sexy as hell. "So far, just that one. It sounded really fucking weird."

"Noted." His eyes are on me, and they flick to my lips and back up again.

In unison, our heads move toward each other, but Alice jumps up from her seat and puts a stop to our almost kiss. "That's enough of that," she says, tilting her head for me to follow. "Let's get going so Jaz can go check on those tickets."

"Oh. Sure thing."

Mase moves so I can get out of the bench, but I don't allow her to ruin all my fun. I lift to my tiptoes and press a soft kiss to his jaw. "See ya later," I say, reluctant to leave him.

He loops his arm around my back and holds me close for a long second longer. "Sooner hopefully."

I leave flushed.

Achy.

And wondering why I'm waiting at all.

***Nirvana performed in Seattle on August 6, 1993, but I'm tweaking it to be August 21, 1993. I guess it was a surprise performance and the last with Grohl, but we're pretending there was a full concert. Also, idk how Seattle arenas are, but in Atlanta, you could definitely hear the concerts through the whole neighborhood, especially somewhere like Lakewood Amphitheater.

Next chapter is PIVOTAL!

See ya Monday lololol :)
