The strangers introduced themselves as Alice and Rain. Or rather, Alice introduced herself, and Rain said nothing because she was busy staring at the mangled corpse of the guy in the button-down, so Alice introduced her. Had Rain not turned one of the monster's heads into a bloody pulp minutes earlier, Jill would have been inclined to believe her apparent inability to tear her gaze away was because she had never seen such a grisly display before. Instead, she didn't quite know what to think.

Alice coolly explained, "We were passing by and thought we might finally find some survivors here."

That didn't really answer the first thing Jill had asked, and there was still a lot more she wanted to know. However, before she even got the chance to open her mouth, Terri jumped in with her camcorder, getting all up in the two's business and firing off question after question. It was too much to process, really. Alice stood there with her hands stuffed into her coat pockets, eyebrows raised and appearing slightly taken aback. Rain quite clearly grew annoyed the longer it went on. The look in her eyes would have been enough to make most people shrink away, but Terri persisted.

When the lens got a little too close to Rain's face, she finally reached over and pushed it away. "Personal space, lady. Ever heard of it?"

Terri took notice of the bandages wrapped around her right palm and fingers. "What happened to your hand?"

Rain clutched her hand and moved even closer to Alice. "I cut myself. On broken glass."

Receiving that single response seemed to spur Terri on. She continued her onslaught of queries, now focusing entirely on Rain. She was all over the place, bouncing between asking more things regarding her mysterious appearance, If she had any information regarding the outbreak and monsters, her background, how—

"Jesus christ, you want my Social Security Number too?" Rain cut in. "My date of birth? My fucking shoe size? I—" She huffed, stopping herself short. Alice murmured her name, giving her shoulder a placating squeeze. At nearly the same time, Peyton said Terri's name, his warning tone carrying a clear reminder of what he had told her earlier. The thing about not wanting to piss off the wrong person.

Terri backed off. "Right. Sorry. Got carried away. Thanks, uh... Thanks for the help." She offered an awkward smile.

"Yeah. Just-just keep your distance from me, and don't bother asking me loads of stuff. I can't give you much, anyway."

Jill took note of Rain's use of the word can't.

"What's with the filming, anyway? Are you a reporter?" Alice eyed the camera.

"If I make it out of here, I will be. A tape showcasing the horrors overtaking this city from a civilian's perspective? Potentially exclusive info about those things walking around out there? It's like I'm basically holding my future Emmy right now."

"Hm." Alice bit the inside of her cheek. "My partner here isn't all that talkative, but if you want info about all these bioweapons walking around, I think I know a thing or two that you might find interesting. On the condition that you'll let the whole world know, of course."

"Bioweapons?" Terri echoed, her eyes widening. "They're bioweapons." She swung back around to face Jill. "You were talking about an investigation earlier. Can you confirm this?"

"Yeah." Jill kept her attention locked on Alice and Rain, scrutinizing them. Alice mirrored her, her borderline blank expression betraying no further information. "I can."

BANG!

CreAk...

"We'll save the interviews for later. Don't know if you're aware, but there's a load of those things right outside and the doors won't keep them out forever."

Alice was right. Time for all of them to get a move on again.

...She and Rain were certainly an odd pair of individuals. Alice was aloof and Rain was... Jill wouldn't quite call it cagey. Maybe somewhere between aggressive, standoffish, and a third thing she couldn't quite place her finger on. Like Jill, both of them knew more about this whole disaster than the average citizen was supposed to. But how?

"Oh, we're aware," Peyton said. "What's the plan? We going through a window?"

Jill didn't mind sticking with them for the time being. After all, they did come to their aid. But she had a weird feeling she was struggling to shake.

"I had a different idea in mind."

Maybe it'd go away once Alice spoke to Terri. "Planning to do another renovation, are you?" Jill watched the blonde remount her motorcycle. The question elicited a quiet snort from Rain.

Alice grinned like a Cheshire cat, lining the vehicle up with the front doors and revving her engine. "Everyone get ready to move."

Jill prepared herself to help Peyton again. Terri tightened the strap of her camera around her wrist.

For a second time, Alice crashed. She jumped off mere seconds before the front tire made contact with the doors, throwing them open with such force that most of the zombies on the other side were knocked over by them. The few that weren't got run over.

The five of them made a run for it.
