7. Beauty Queen

Lee Somin

After surviving all her other subjects, Somin was more than ready to leave.

I need to be alone. Me, sad music, and hard liquor was the first thought Somin had.

Even though she hadn't considered herself to be a heavy drinker, when the stress kicked in, alcohol was the only thing that helped her get to sleep.

I should do something about that. Somin felt incredibly guilty.

She made a mental note to find a therapist in this new city.

The abandoned girl trudged into the hall when a group of girls passed by, not paying her any mind. In the middle, there walked the embodiment of a "beauty queen". Her colorful acrylic nails were deep in her hair, fixing pins that held her funky buns onto both sides of her head. Her slim body bore a fitted crop top exposing her belly button. Her toned muscles were a finishing touch to the seductive picture.

Somin shivered seeing the tiny outfit.

"...have to go to the dorm and then..." the sentence faded away. Batting long, doll-like eyelashes. The bold makeup and cute pursing lips, defined with bright pink, made the girl seem like somebody picked her up from a shelf filled with expensive toys. All around her Somin recognized a few of the "fangirls" from earlier.

They're so pathetic.

Somin bitterly remarked to herself, almost automatically thinking the worst of others like Cholsu would. The party had flown around her and came out of the school.

Well, at least I won't stand out here, even with pink hair.

The tired girl let out a pained smile. She wandered around the corner where the stairs led to the right wing of the school. The empty hallway got narrower and Somin sat down on the cold stairs. The space was silent which screamed "haven" for her scattered mind.

Maybe everybody already left.

Being hidden from the view of the main foyer helped her ease up. She rested there, trying to gather the energy to even go home.

Living life is so tiring.

Her stomach protested with a painful spasm as she hadn't eaten the whole day. After the text, all appetite had left her. Somin put her heavy head on her knees, locking eyes on the pattern of the marble tiles, slowly drifting away.

Can I just die here right now?

Her eyes closed for a moment, the posture brought her some sense of safeness. Her eyes were still burning, but this time without violent tears as she listened to her own mild, almost non-existent breathing.

Do I even know how to live anymore?
