I ain't your Servant! 3 - or 'When the Master of Chaldea simps for Fanfiction a bit too much' (FGO, AverageGuySI!Servant)

Gudako was not having fun.

Sure, this Singularity wasn't as atrocious and terrifying as the first field experience she got, but the way this felt compared to her envisioned 'grand adventure' was far from idyllic.

First off, the group had been split during the ray-shift. And while she was reasonably concerned that her sensei may be soon to be destroyed since he lacked the means to truly face off some of the tough Servants they were all facing, Mash had reasonably pushed her to face the biggest issue: the fact that their foes were far more and far stronger than she had expected in this Singularity.

The Orangette still managed to get a good ally, which was Jeanne D'Arc (the good Ruler version), and they were trying all to gain information about their foes when communications were restored to her sensei.

"Senseeeeeiiiii! Where are you!?" She suddenly asked, her shrill voice making poor Mash flinch, while Jeanne was caught off-guard by the loudness.

Truth be told, Gudako needed to have some good news like this one. Her sensei, the writer of many stuff she fangirled about for years now, was someone that the girl trusted in this regard.

He may not be a Magus, but he sure had the brains to be a dangerous one if given the means. And, as a Servant, he had the capacity to be quite deadly if given enough preparation time. It wasn't like Batman, but she was sure he could potentially solve this Singularity with ease if given the opportunity.

"Doing stuff. And stop being so loud, Guda."

"Sorry! It's just- what happened? How are you? Are you fine?"

"Melusine and I are fine, we got taken to Caen and did a bit of a D-Day. Cleaned up the Wyverns and all of that but… this situation gives us an opportunity. The Dragon Witch knows where you all are, and is marching towards you with some high-tier Servants."

"Th-That's bad!" Mash voiced the panic erupting within the trio.

"Correct. But this is a good thing if we can exploit it right. Guda, I want you to play your cards right since Mash and Jeanne can't face too much heat for long despite both being defensive-leaning in terms of their combat ability," John explained calmly. "It will happen in a few hours, so you have the time to pick your battlefield and set up traps around to lessen their advantage. Also, one thing- I need you to give the communicator to Jeanne as I need to speak with her in private."

The Ruler frowned, but it was Gudako that responded to this.

"What?! Why?" She whined, and the lowly Caster huffed.

"Because some stuff is private, and I want to make the point of the situation clear since I can tell she is quite confused and worried about a few things she shouldn't be troubled by."

Gudako was split about it. She knew she had to do this, but she hesitated for a solid minute before giving up the communicator to Jeanne. The blonde nodded at the gesture and brought the device to her ear.

"Y-Yes? Hello?" The Ruler tensed up a bit as she heard the voice directly aimed at her. "Ah, yes. Nice to meet you and… oh?"

Soon the young woman was nodding, slightly irking Gudako on why her sensei was planning something without involving her. Mash patted her shoulder, but it didn't make her feel that better as the conversation went on for roughly ten minutes.

At least Jeanne's reactions were quite amusing. The girl was clearly not that aware of some of the things her sensei was telling her, but the growing bubble of determination burst into a small flame that the orangette could pick off from the Ruler Servant.

Once the conversation was over, the communicator was back to Gudako, and-

"Guda, some parting words since Melusine and I will soon start our side of the plan. I want you and Mash to listen up to my advice: delay and have fun. Do not try to win this battle, because you can not beat the odds you are up to. But you can definitely win without beating those Servants?"

"How?" Mash asked. "I mean, what's the point of holding the battle out for too long if it's dangerous?"

"You will see soon, Shielder. It's going to be amusing."

That perked Gudako's interest as she was now sure this kind of secrecy may be something to give her a spectacle. So, part of her upset vanished over this prospect and-

"We will not disappoint, sensei."

"Good. Bukha's off."

The talk was over.

As Sensei had told them, the Dragon Witch did arrive with a dreadful entourage made up of four Servants. All of those had been turned into their Berserk state, depriving them of their usual freedom of will and capacity to know what they were doing was wrong.

"Well, well, well," The Dark Version of Jeanne D'Arc stated, glancing smugly at her original self. "If it is some foolish maiden trying to stand up for traitors. I am surprised, I would have thought you would have seen the true colors of theirs true our wrath."

"Our?" The Ruler rebuked, the sharp tone surprising briefly the Dragon Witch. "Don't make me laugh. You are not me, and I refuse to recognize you as even just a sliver of what I truly am."

Jeanne (Alter) scoffed. "Delusional as always. Tell me, is 'God' telling you this or is it that you are trying to grow a backbone? What I have done is what we wanted to do back then, when we were being burning for our 'sins'!"

"Delusional?" The original Jeanne growled, eyes narrowed much to the growing unease of her Alter Version. "That's a lot of nerve coming from someone born from others' delusions!"

There was just something quite fitting in seeing the original Ruler behaving so angrily about it, even more as she seemed to be preparing to drop a bit of revelation that had Gudako at the edge of her 'seat'.

Yet, the Dragon Witch appeared quite confused by this rebuttal, frowning with a strangely worried look.

"O-Others' delusions?! What are you talking about?"

"Have you not noticed? Are you so blinded by your own fake rage and wrath that you can't see the clues?!" The original Ruler was on a roll from the looks of it, and Gudako was all for it. "Let me ask you something. What was the last thought I had before I died?"

Jeanne Alter appeared caught off-guard. "We- We were angry-"

"No," The Ruler interjected firmly, closing her eyes and reaching for the cross she had by her chest. "When I was burning, I felt regret and upset. Not at those around me, but at myself. I could have led a normal life for someone like me. A mere girl from a village, one that could have found love and become a mother. One that would have died a long and content life. All at the expense of the laments of soldiers perishing and dying at the hands of the invaders."

Her eyes slowly opened.

"Yet, as I felt the pain go away, I just had one thing to say and pray for as I knew it was only fair. O Lord, I give myself to you."

There was a heavy silence at this, with the Dragon Witch looking lost for a moment.

"Of course, you wouldn't be able to remember it. What you have in your mind is not my thoughts or my true self," Jeanne argued. "You have what someone else thought of me. What someone else wanted me to be or do for the sake of surviving. You are nothing more than a fictional hope of someone that lost that mind that day. Someone that, to this day, I will not forgive for what he did. Someone that, until I truly perish from the memory of this world, will never trust again."

Surprisingly enough, Jeanne Alter seemed to have a name pending by the edge of her lips.

"Gilles."

Steeling herself, the flag-wielding Ruler adopted a harsher expression.

"With that being said, Dragon Witch, heed my words carefully. You are not me, you do not matter to me, and you will pay for the monstrous actions you committed against my people. By God's good grace, I shall put you down at once and give true justice to this weeping world! NO MATTER THE COST ON MYSELF, MY BODY, AND MY SOUL!"

The furious roar from Jeanne actually made the Dragon Witch hesitate, eyes wide open in fear as that proclamation scared her from the core. Gudako couldn't fault her. Jeanne had shown to them a behavior akin to an Onee-sama that hardly got angry over something. But this vehement passion to see Jeanne Alter defeated was something else.

It gave both her and Mash a sense of awe that also bolstered their morale before these odds. Even more as the Ruler addressed the other Servants with the same resolve.

"Vlad III, Adult Elizabeth Bathory (Carmilla), Chevalier D'Eon, and Saint Martha. I know you each have your own ideals and understanding of life. I know you would not face me had it been different from the way your minds are being controlled, so bear this to your heart: I shall beat you for the sake of freedom, the one thing you have been deprived of!"

Then, Jeanne turned to Gudako. "Master of Chaldea, let's give them the biggest battle of their lives!"

The orangette smiled and nodded, with Mash already claiming a battle stance as the brawl soon ensued as intensely as it was advocated. The Dragon Witch didn't join, lost in her thoughts and unsure on what to take out of her 'weaker self' and her convincing words.

What Jeanne Alter didn't know was that by deploying her best soldiers in this battle, she left the other thing she needed protected for an attack. If she was to fear the French in the South, she should have been worried that the English were far from beaten and marching straight for the Grail.
