Guest: There have been a few Classic Who drabbles, but I haven't watched any of the early Doctors in decades. I don't own any Classic Who DVDs and there haven't been repeats shown on TV channels I have access to in longer than I can remember. I don't want to mess up writing past incarnations, each had their own distinctive 'voice' but without the opportunity to see episodes I don't feel qualified to attempt writing them more than occasionally. My memories of watching back in the 60s through the 80s are understandably a bit vague now. Anyway, that's why I so rarely write Classic Who. I'm just not up to the task. The classic Doctors deserve better than I could give them.

Generals, kings, presidents, emperors, the Doctor out-ranks them all. His lack of an official rank on any of the worlds he visits is immaterial, because if he's there it stands to reason that his presence is needed, regardless of whether or not it was requested. The TARDIS Always makes sure he shows up wherever he can do the most good; time-lines need to be preserved, at all costs.

So wherever he finds himself, he studies the situation, and then takes over. People may not know how to ask for his help, but they get it anyway. It's what he does.
