It's Independence Day, but the trio who decides to put on the fireworks show and Lennox — who is planning the party — wants to include celebrating Jamie's twentieth anniversary of her cross-dimensional adventure. Still, they'll have to subtly.
Hound's P.O.V.
Most of us have been on this planet to know what the fourth of July — or Independence Day — is about and the fireworks show humans love to put on. It's hard to believe in the nine years being on this planet, I haven't seen a fireworks show, even in the four years after we've been deemed no longer a target and welcome to stay on Earth.
Ironhide came up with the idea to plan a fireworks show for the Autobots, soldiers, and human friends. With mine, Wheeljack, and Que's help. We're going to put on a great show.
We decide to do this show in Jamie's dimension — aware most soldiers haven't traveled through a portal or ground bridge. We will set up a Livestream feed for any soldier who doesn't want to go through the ground bridge, but hoping most will as we're planning more than a show — we're planning a party.
Lennox and the femmes are planning the party. We had to let Crosshairs and Drift know about the party to keep Jamie busy.
"Why? It's for the Fourth of July?" Crosshairs ask.
"You've seen how humans can make fireworks explode in the shape of a heart or smiley? Even words?" Que asks, "need I say more?"
"Won't be a problem," Drift assures us, "she's busy with other projects."
Lennox's P.O.V.
I didn't tell them, but I am disappointed Jamie looks at her anniversary of when this adventure started as nothing. Even this year— but twenty years is a big deal. I've known her for the majority of the time, but I don't know all her adventures in other dimensions. Even Ironhide, Hound, Que, and Wheeljack agree; this will be a fourth of July party and anniversary party — but it'll be mostly an Independence Day party. I will leave out how long she's been together with Drift. However, I'm not sure if everyone else will.
The day of the party.
Jamie's P.O.V.
Surprisingly, Lennox wanted to have an Independence Day party in my dimension, but the training grounds is a good place to launch fireworks.
"Consider it an anniversary party — though a month and four days late," Drift suggests, "come on, twenty years is a big deal. So is the seven years you've been in love with me, but we'll do something together later."
He kisses my forehead before going into the shower.
"Long time no see, stranger," Jayce smiles as I walk down the stairs, "six months back home was nice, but I started missing you and the Autobots."
"Ehm, you mean we," J.R. corrects, "and what's this about you mot caring you've been at this for twenty years?"
This question results in an elbow to the gut from Jayce before we go outside.
It's noon, and I can't believe everything that's been done or how many soldiers walked through the ground bridge.
"I didn't even have to bribe them either," Lennox jokes.
It's no surprise Jazz is enjoying being in charge of the music. I didn't think he'd pick instrumental music.
Cade and Cogman are in charge of cooking, and surprisingly not arguing. Cogman seems like he demands complete control when cooking.
After we ate, Sideswipe planned a water balloon fight. First, we deal with the debate over me being allowed to use my waterbending and if Mirage and I can go invisible or not.
"That should be considered cheating," Sunstreaker argues. The soldiers agree with him and, for once, not out of fear.
"We are not sitting on the sidelines!" Mirage argues.
"Then she's to use water balloons or a water gun, and both of you can't go invisible," Ironhide argues.
"Fine!" We both agree.
Though by the end of the game, few are soaked due to how hot it is, some want me to dump water on them. Unfortunately, it's impossible since there isn't a large source of water around.
"Time to plan a beach day," one of the soldiers' jokes, but Lennox and Prime agree it's a good idea before summer ends.
We head to the training grounds in time for the sunset. Sunstreaker enjoys taking a few pictures while Hound, Ironhide, Que, and Wheeljack set up the fireworks.
"He'll be busy painting for a while when we get back," Sideswipe comments.
"Wait, I need one more picture," he comments and gets one of me with Crosshairs and Drift on either side of me.
"And it wasn't planned," Crosshairs comments, "I'm going to see if they need help."
"You better run!" I yell.
Lennox's P.O.V.
This isn't just friends having fun at an independence Day party; we are family. It was rough for six years, not knowing he survived and who was killed. Now there are new members of the family; Autobot and human.
I know Jamie struggles mentally, but I don't know why she doesn't think twenty years of this adventure is nothing.
"She's come to know us as her family. I believe this is why she doesn't think this is a big deal," Optimus explains.
"Do you know what Ironhide, Hound, Que, and Wheeljack are going to do?"
Optimus nods.
Optimus Prime's P.O.V.
Now's not a day to think about Jamie's mental struggle, but I believe that's part of why she thinks this isn't a big deal, but also, she does think we're all family.
"Alright, showtime!" Wheeljack cheers.
Everyone sits on the ground, knowing this is going to be a long show.
The show starts like any other fireworks show, but everyone knows there are surprises.
Five minutes of the typical fireworks, we start getting images; the American flag, N.E.S.T. logo, and Autobot insignia. Everyone cheers even though there's more to
come. Everyone is surprised the fireworks change to create faces. Of course, they did my face first. They went through the list of every Autobot st N.E.S.T. it's a nice five-minute portion of the show. I agree with Lennox's desire to make this partly about Jamie's anniversary of keeping this adventure going but in a subtle way.
We love you, Jamie you are a great friend ️
Everyone cheers louder; I think it's more because the trio got the fireworks to display a message. Some Autobots go to Jamie to add to the message in the night sky, which I believe the trio knew would happen since it's back to the typical fireworks — until the end.
Happy Independence Day America
The show ends, and everyone continues to cheer. We decide to last-minute set-up an outdoor screen and watch a movie — though not Independence Day related — to keep the night going.
