Hello TOH fans, this is my first FanFic in a LONG time, so please be kind. =) I've created an idea for the whole story, it's a lot of Canon stuff with more adult themes. I also added in elements I was curious about, more on the trappers for example, other Titan islands, etc.

The characters are all aged up, Hexside is a College, after College before joining a coven you enter a short specialized academy. (If thats still in the universe when I get there, lol I have all the major points but you know, writing.)

I don't own any of the characters and unless I otherwise state, all art is not mine either.

I sincerely hope you like the story, please feel free to provide feedback and kind words, it does help me work.

Please enjoy.

Welcome to the Noceda household, a house that accepts you for who you are and who you want to be, as long as you leave it here on your way out. Luz Noceda has struggled to grasp this concept since she was just a toddler, as a child she was high spirited, loved to laugh and play pretend, her father understood her the best. Always knowing how to play along, how to encourage Luz to be the best version she was playing in that moment. As she got older and her papa passed away things changed, quickly. Her mama had the same long shifts at the Vet office, Luz went from fantasy and fun, to eating frozen dinners alone.

Luz didn't mind having to step up, she had read plenty of books about someone like her stepping up, being brave and facing their fears. Although, it was much easier in the book by how she felt for the first few weeks, going to sleep alone, no story or kiss good night. She had felt defeated, that was until she found a gift for her from her Papa, it was meant for her birthday but that wasn't too far away, she tore the paper away and her eyes lit up. "The Good Witch Azura, Book 1".

The story was there for her when no one else could be, sure she was the weird one and didn't make a lot of friends, but she always had her stories to come back to. Her Mama was worried about her being so absorbed into these novels but didn't have the heart to take away what seemed like the only salvation she had. Years went on like this, the bullying got worse for a while in High School, Luz was great at ignoring the girls who pushed her buttons, knowing it was just a phase and she will be out of there in a matter of a few years, what was a few more years of torture? The last two years were the hardest, her Mama had multiple calls from the principal about her performance in School, her attendance and behaviour. Luz always assured her Mama that it wasn't her fault, she just had things on her mind, not that she would ever share that information. Eventually, those problems followed Luz home, kids graffitiing the house with "Weirdo", "Come down to Earth" and "Lesbo".

These comments finally pushed the Noceda household to its limits, Camila, Luz's Mom had finally hit her breaking point. Bad grades, struggling attendance, she struggled when she was in High School too but to have anything from School brought to her door was unacceptable. Luz will never forget the words, "Why can't you just act normal!?", it was like she was dropped into a frozen lake, numbness took over and everything was dark. Camila had instant regret and no idea how to dispel the situation, she had broken her child and paid the price in utter silence. Silence that lasted until graduation, almost a year of a muted daughter that only spoke when absolutely necessary. Their last conversation – if you can call it a conversation – had left Luz with the understanding she was being sent away 'for her own good'. Camila left for work that morning, thinking she would see a new Luz in a few months, but she had no idea to what extent that really meant.

**** Luz POV

I just want what's best for you Mija I could hear my Mama's words ring in my mind as I get the last of my things packed for this camp. I was frustrated with the last conversation, I had so much prepared to say but nothing came out, why did she have to sound so sad about the whole thing... I'm the one being forced to leave! I thought as I zipped up my bag, staring at "The Good Witch Azura, Book 5", contemplating if I was going to take it with me or not. After moments of debate, I caved, those books were there for me when no one else was! I plopped it on top of the bag and folded the top over, not quite able to zip it up with the book. I slung the bag over my shoulder, giving myself a final once over in the mirror as I walked out of the room. Despite me trying my hardest to bulk up in High School, I was a real string bean, my arms had little definition even if I felt I was reasonably strong. At the end of grade 11 I finally decided to grow out my hair, well, some of my hair, I liked having two longer pieces of hair that came down to slightly frame my face. While the rest was just a bit longer than your average pixie haircut – not that you could tell, most of the time I wore a red beanie I had found in my mom's closet when I was 16, still at 17 I was dedicated to wearing it as often as possible.

At the door to the house, I gave one last pull to make sure it was locked before headed towards the bus terminal. I wonder if I could fake being sick the whole time and just, hang out in the cabin I thought with a small chuckle, I am a god-awful actor and not ready to be that embarrassed right off the hop. As I rounded the corner to the bus terminal I could hear other students and teenagers mingling, I let out a large sigh "Thats not a good si-" My words were cut short as I was suddenly falling face first into the ground, I luckily caught myself with a small jolt to my body, hands scraping the ground, a bit rough on my knees but nothing terrible. I whipped my head around, trying to figure out what happened, I hadn't seen anything that could cause this! I leaned back to be on my knees and looked around, THERE, I thought hastily as I quickly got back on my feet. Wait a second, that's my book! And... Is that an OWL? I couldn't believe my eyes, a small owl with a large sack had my favourite book in its claw and was hopping it away into the forest.

As I turn to make my way towards the weird Owl I see from the corner of my eye, the large 'Greyhound Bus' that was intended to take me to camp. I stood for a moment before the choice just seemed so obvious, I didn't want to go to that stupid camp anyways and now I had the perfect, albeit far-fetched excuse. I quickly took off in the direction of the little Owl, trying to think of ways to explain this to my mom without sounding crazy. For a moment I thought I was lost, everything started to look the same and I wasn't familiar with this part of the woods at all. That didn't slow my pace – even though maybe it should have – on following the direction the owl went. As if like destiny I came to a slightly more open clearing, in the middle of it was a small house, it had been sitting her abandoned for some time.

I saw the door swing close right as I got close, before the owl could get much farther in I lunged for the door crashing through faster than intended. This time, I landed hard, my chin resting on what felt like dirt? How dirty was this cabin? I thought to myself as I opened my eyes, only to be met with the owl inches from my face. "Hey you! That books mine" I yelled, giving it a start and causing it to fly away out of what looked to be a tent opening. I picked myself up and dusted myself off, rubbing the pained spot on my chin and finally taking in what was around me. A lot of books, empty bottles, bags, a jar with a pixie in it, some more books. WAIT, A JAR WITH A PIXIE IN IT? I couldn't comprehend what I was seeing anymore, the closer I looked the more occult everything appeared to be. Books? No, those were leather or human skin bound books with violent red text on the front of most of them.

I got a sharp tingle up my back and with that I flew out of the tent myself, hand raised ready to grab that owl the next time I saw it.

***3Rd POV

In a flash Owlbert was back home, an exhausted and pained look on his face as he let out a small hoot and put the bag of treasures down. Just as he was about to fly away there was another crash, the human girl who had been giving Owlbert chase had tumbled through the portal. Startled and curious, Owlbert hopped over to the human's face, unsure at this point if she could be considered friend or foe, and just like that – as if on cue – the human girl yelled "Hey you! That books mine!" with a determined look in her eye. Owlbert jumped and gave a small frantic hoot as he flew through the tent and out the opening.

The sun was bright and beautiful, people were out in what looked to be a strip market, booths, tents, tables, you name it, were all lined up along the road. People in dazzling outfits, all trying to bring in their next customer, using fancy signs or shouting things like "Lowest price in the isles!" a few hundred times. However, one individual in particular didn't seem to participate in these customs, Eda Clawethorne, or 'The Owl Lady' as people in The Boiling Isles often refer to her as. Eda was happy leaning back and watching chumps get scammed and watching scammers be stolen from, it was the circle of life after all she thought to herself. Before Eda knew it Owlbert was back and screaming? She thought quizzically, "Woah, slow down here pal, human, face... book? I need you to take a deep breath for me and start from the top" she said as she let the little Owl perch on her finger.

Before Owlbert got the chance to explain for the second time, Luz came running out of the tent, her face a mix of wonder and horror. "Oh human!" Eda exclaimed as she pointed directly at Luz, Owlbert jumped up and down nodding and cooing along. Luz turned at the sound of another person's voice and froze at the sight of her, similar height, slim build, more curves than Luz ever had, a big mane of gray hair perfectly framing her pale face that was accented beautifully with a golden fang poking from her lips. "Oh kid, you're a long way from home" Eda said plainly, waiting for a response of some kind, instead she notices the girls' eyes had drifted beyond her and into the crowd of people constantly walking by. Before Eda could get another word in, the human girl turned around, walking right back into the tent without so much as another glance or sound. "Kid?" Eda called at the tent, having dealt with humans in the past she is extremely confused about this one, no screaming yet or vomiting... hasn't even fainted yet she thought as she approached the tents entrance again, listening carefully for signs of distress.

On the inside of the tent Luz walked back to where she initially fell, nothing was here, yet she came through a door of some kind. She walked to the back of the tent and out, wondering if she had maybe just missed something. She stopped in her tracks, her breathing stopped, and her deep brown eyes went wide. In front of her was a world like she had never even dreamt of, the sky had a purple hue to it, the landscape was vast and had many different colours compared to back home, red trees, red grass, large bones sticking up all ove- Her thought ended abruptly as the most obvious and prominent thing finally slapped her in the face, she was standing on the bones or something massive. "Thats... gigantic..." Luz whispered, not able to take her eyes away. Suddenly she heard something from behind her, it must be that lady She thought to herself, turning around to face the tent again, only to be smacked in the face with probably the cutest injury she has ever endured! "Oh hello fairy, how are you?" Luz couldn't help but ask as the fairy recovered from hitting Luz in the face, it stared at her longingly for a moment before inhaling sharply "GIVE ME YOUR SKIN, LET ME HAVE IT" before she could react, Eda's hand popped out from the tent and gave the fairy a hard slap, sending it flying.

Luz had to stifle a laugh, sure it was scary but watching it get punted out of the way like nothing, made her feel pretty good. Eda appeared from the tent, causing Luz to subconsciously take a step back, Eda quickly put a hand up. "I wont hurt you kid, you're just a human. Looking for this by the sounds of it?" Eda pulled 'The Good Witch Azura, Book 5' out. "Owlbert didn't mean to steal, I mean, he did just not from you!" Eda snorted once as she chuckled. Luz went to open her mouth and was quickly turned down, being pulled by her wrist to the stand once again. Where for the first time she was able to read the sign. "Human Treasure" Luz said outside with an astonished smile on her face. "So you take trash and stuff from our world to sell here?" She inquired, unsure of what people here could possibly want with it.

"Not trash kid, treasures" Eda says with renewed enthusiasm. "Watch" Eda starts to pander customers, pointing out all her special commodities, Luz couldn't help but laugh as she watched Eda market a TV as a black screen that projects sadness. "You aren't wrong on that front but let me see here..." Luz hummed for a moment as she pulled the back off the TV, looking around and seeing some batteries in the 'human candy' bowl. Luz put the batteries in and flicked the TV on, showing a few different static channels and cartoons here and there. Suddenly people were drawn in by the sound it was making, this caused Luz to take quite a few steps back around the counter with Eda. "Not bad kid" Eda whispered and nudged Luz's arm. Luz did that a few more times with other items Eda had been marketing incorrectly, by the end of the day they had made quite a pot of money and she would need replenishment asap.

Eda had been mulling over what to say for a little bit now as she watched this human girl interact with customers and Owlbert, now that it was just the two of them Eda paused, "I'm Eda or if you prefer The Owl Lady, I didn't get your name before" Eda said, which felt almost out of the blue. "OH. Sorry, It's Luz, Luz Noceda" she stated proudly, feeling awkward she hadn't introduced herself before this moment. "Well, Luz the Human, I'm opening the portal up again today or tomorrow, are you ready to go?" Eda inquired, an eyebrow raised, waiting for her reply. Luz looked like she was caught red handed for something and it took a lot longer to get her thoughts together than it should have. "I ... "She paused again, what did she want to do? This was like every 'Good Witch Azura' book she has ever read, and the answer is always stay. "I was wondering if I could maybe stay, for a bit, I would love to learn magic and more about this place" Luz said quieter than intended, earning another snort from Eda. "I like it, I don't think I have ever met a human who could do magic, but we can try"

Eda gave a final twist of her wrist and the whole stand broke down and put itself away in her bag, which looked way too small to have anything she actually carried in there. "You aren't going to eat me, right?" Luz checked as she looked around, seeing most of the vendors and customers were gone. Eda chuckled and summed her staff, looking at Luz shaking her head "Not my type kid, besides you don't have much meat on the bones for anyone" Eda laughed and hopped on her staff, motioning for Luz to do the same. Luz glanced between the ground, staff and Eda before finally pulling herself up. Holding tightly to Eda's sides, a small spark of joy hit her as the staff started to elevate. "I have to get home to King, so hold on tight for the ride!" Eda called behind her to Luz before taking off to home. Immediately Luz felt like she was going to be sick, but as she opened her eyes more and more, it was just beautiful. Scary, horrific and beautiful.

I wonder if I can convince her to let me stay for more than a few days... I don't think Mama expects much from me while at camp anyways. Luz thought as the wind whipped passed her face.
