People always romanticize the idea of going into another world, trying to live that ideal second life without knowing the repercussions it could bring. Of course, it is natural to do so and if one say they don't, then they're lying.

As humans, we are beings that always aim for great success and achievement. People thought of it everyday so delusions are not too far off. The fear of not being able to reach that was a primal fear which existed long before humanity discovered the utility of fire. And as such, death became one of the greatest fears that graced mankind. For when death comes, everything is done.

No redos.

No continuation.

Nothing.

It all ends there.

The fear birth thoughts, delusions of the idea living a second life. Isekai comes to mind, a subgenre so popular today even satirizing it won't do anything. And the one thing that makes this idea ridiculous is the existence of convenience. We all know this; cheat powers. Anything that makes life easier. Living a second life is after a delusion that will never come true.

Death was the end, that's what I thought at least. But living that ideal second life you wanted? That can never come true, it was the case in my experience. At least the one I'm thinking of what with no plot armor or any sort of cheat abilities.

Because when you put someone like me, lazy, uninspired and cynical man, into a fantasy world of which are based around Monster Girls that crave for the embrace of men, it wouldn't go the way you expect it to be.

Doing so would be nothing short of foolish.

You are not granted any ability that would help you in a long run, nor any convenience you can use beside the knowledge you retain from the modern world. You are powerless, scared shitless and you are uncertain of the things that heads your way. You are not the main character, you are not the protagonist.

You are just some random villager that just so happens to be someone reincarnated into the world of MGE.

You get nothing.

You are nothing in the grand scheme of things.

You will never have things go the way you want.

Not even with extensive planning beforehand.

Such is what it means to live a second life...realistically. Because getting all that bullshit powers is not true, I wasn't granted anything like that. And because of that, I'm just a background character, no relevance in the plot or even the world itself.

Thinking you are, in some way, important to the world is nothing but a...

What is the word?

Ah, yes.

It is nothing but a Preconceived Fantasy.

And as such, what can you do other than just...living the second life?

It's not like you got anything better to do, right?
